Calanque de Sormiou

We went in mid-October and the beach had certainly been recently impacted by a storm. There was a yacht which had run aground very dramatically, and more importantly the beach was covered in sticks, leaves, and other debris blown in by the storm and did not leave much sand uncovered to sit on. Nonetheless the location is spectacular and the water was gorgeous and clear for a swim. We paid €6 to drive down and park. Apparently it is wise to call ahead to the restaurant to reserve a space in peak tourist season.

Amazing place, in summer it’s super nice, the water it’s crystal clear. It’s worth of it, nothing the envy to Thailand’s beaches. The bad thing is to arrive there, by walk it’s hard, and you can’t get by car unless you have a reservation in the restaurant.

I went by foot after taking the bus 22. It was a nice 25 min walk, even under a blazing sun. Since the path has a few trees, it is not that hot. It is not so easy to find the starting point, but once you are there, it’s easy to follow. Great views and nature along the path. The beach itself, very calm. Light waves, the soil is sand, no rocks, great temperature.

Outstanding beach with beautiful warm turquoise waters. You need to walk 45 mins over a hill each way to get there but it’s worth it. Apparently the restaurant is amazing but we didn’t book ahead which is necessary.

An intermediate trek leading to a beautiful destination. The effort is totally worth the dive into the water.. Can get very crowded at peak season. A must visit from Marseille !

It is the most beautiful calanque that you can find in the national park. You need, however, to be cautious that, especially, in summer calanques are closed for visits due to fire risks (including windy days). It is better to start the hike at 7 am so you will be less tired and protected from the sun by a shade of calanques. The reward is wonderful - amazing sea view and sandy beach.

Difficult to get there, but it's worth it! We went in a cab until the beginning of the mountain and walked for around 40 minutes. Make sure to wear a hat, and comfortable shoes and to bring water. It gets crowded after 1PM so it's better to arrive around 9-11 AM

Nice view, but the road right to the beach closes during the day during peak season for cars so you have to hike down about 45 minutes each way. We had to wait till 7pm to drive down, the road is quite treacherous, steep with cliffs and single lane in most parts. If you do drive down just pay attention to what cars are coming up ahead and prepare to stop early to give way
