Calaway Park

The park is great, especially for kids and probably some teenagers up to around 14 years old. There are lots of fun rides for children, bright swings, and a Parade of Fairy-Tale Characters (they were handing out delicious candies). We also bought some food — the fries were very tasty. There are small lines for the restrooms. We’ll definitely visit this place again!

Great amusement park for kids and parents/families, and lots of stuff for teens too. So many rides toddlers can go on if they are tall enough. Even when the parking is packed it is not too big of a wait for a lot of the smaller rides. The water rides are a long wait and close an hour before closing time. Lots of bathrooms around. Lots of food options. Shaved ice and pineapple dole whip is vegan. Cool Halloween vibes when summer season is over. Decorated all throughout the park.

IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY, THIS IS IT! Amazing experience! They have rides for kids rides for adults, add rides for really small kids as well! There are lineups and that long. The most We ever waited was about half an hour. It is $52 to get in the dollars to get in the door if you are 13 to 65 years of age.

Coming into the parking lot, everyone was parking to the left as it looks like they are building something on the right. They have lots of people waving you in telling you where to park. They have many booths to pay for your tickets as you go in. I do recommend buying your ticket online before going in. When you went to the park you can go to the left or to the right. I recommend going to the roller coaster first. The lineups can get quite long. The roller coaster and the log ride usually get the longest lines. The staff is very friendly and the park is very clean. I do find the water is expensive there so bring your own water to drink. They do have an area with lots of picnic tables for you to have a lunch. I have a 2 year old and he could go on about nine rides. When my daughter was 9 she could go on every single ride. Overall I do like this park. I do believe it is time to add some new rides. We went September 14th and they had Halloween days starting. They had parades and they had people dressed up everywhere.

Calaway Park is a fantastic family destination! I've visited multiple times with my wife and our kids (ages 6 and 3), and each trip has been a joy. While some rides are age-specific and not suitable for younger children, there's still plenty to enjoy. The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are friendly, and the park offers a wholesome experience for all ages. From gentle rides to engaging shows and play areas, our kids were entertained throughout. It's a great spot for creating lasting family memories. We will definitely be back!

I visited Calaway Park and had a fantastic time! The park was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was full of energy. It’s clearly a perfect spot for families—so many smiling kids and parents enjoying the day. Whether you’re with a group or on your own, it’s a fun, well-run park that’s worth the visit!

Great value. Lots of rides and activities for my 5 and 7 year old kids. Did not have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the rides. We would come back for sure. We liked the magic show.

Fun lil park. Definitely for kids - we had fun for maybe 2 hours and that’s all there is to do as an adult. It’s closer to Calgary - the only perk. There were some rides that charge you additional $2-$5 on top of the entry ticket. Haunted house was a joke. Extremely long queues. Overpriced snacks and drinks. Meh! If you want to visit on a weekend, plan ahead cos parking is going to take you a long time.

I was devastated to hear how your employees - youths have been treated by guests form East India. All family from India have been cornered your employees 16-18 years old - yelling at them and threatening them, just because your rides are not convenient for not tall enough kids. There are some rules that guests don't want to obey, and when your employees-youths tried to explain the rules, they got cornered, yelled at and even threatened with guests hands up to them.  That is so unacceptable and there needs to be more older supervisors and managers to help your employees-youths and not allow anybody to treat them as a shit.  Employees-youths at Calaway park have been paid minimum wadge and should be treated with all respect as anybody else in this country. Something must be done about these issues - as a society and as Canadians, we should protect our employees, especially youths-kids while working at such a place. They should have more protections at the work then 18-year-old supervisor, who got yelled as well for half an hour by the same people. If we don't do anything about it, we fell as a society.

Went to Calaway Park since it has been some time since we last visited. It was warm (22) but still very sunny and warm. Bring extra water, a good hat & sunscreen. It was Fall when we last went and, it was so cold (wind) on the rides. If you go in Fall, bring gloves/mittens. Lines were longer this time. Park was clean. We loaded up with our own sandwiches, snacks and water. It was easy to manage as we could snack through out the whole day. It was easier since we prefer healthier options too. Admission is $51.95 plus tax. We went after 2pm and paid $35.95 each. It was busy and we didn't get on as many rides as the first time. The first time (2017), the after 2pm rate was half or close to half-off. Like the hand sanitizer at each ride, though I didn't see anyone using it. I had an immunocompromised guest so we just 'sanitized' with a sanitizing wipe as we went around. Saw one staff member wiping down a ride. Lots of places to sit and rest. If you have mobility concerns, you can rent a wheelchair. I think a mobility scooter would be so much more efficient. Notice the Gift Shop is open to 7:15 pm so you have a bit of time once the rides stop to have a look around. Bring cash if you want to play the games or do the bonus activities. It was ok. Kids loved it.

I think if you have young kids it's great. If your kids are pre-teens and above maybe it's time to move on. The staff were nice and all. It's just that the rides are very slow. Even my old self could ride them. And I get dizzy easy. Concessions very reasonable if compared to back home in America.

This was my first time visiting Calaway Park and we had such a blast! My kids are 5 and 3 and I felt like for my 5 year old she was able to go on majority of the rides that she wanted to go on. My 3 year old was able to go on majority of the rides with an adult to accompany her. Before we even went to the park we bought our tickets online. The tickets were $35 per person online which I thought was a good deal. Once we arrived, check in was super easy and touchless! No wristbands or anything like that which I appreciated for our environment. Entering the park is like going back in time to my childhood. Flintstones era park and all the nostalgia came flooding back. Post-pandemic, pre-travel, this place filled my Disney sized void. Of course it's no where near the same as Disney but for a 2.5 hour drive from our house I'd say it's pretty amazing! First impression was off to a good start! We rented a double stroller because my kids really never use a stroller anymore and I didn't even think to bring a wagon for them but I thought to be safe and avoid me carrying them, best to rent the stroller. It was $12 so a good investment in my opinion. The games at the park were good, the accept debit / credit which is nice as most carnivals do not. And there are tons of games that kids will win a prize every time at which makes it even more fun for them. The games were also fun for adults too so overall good selection of games. The rides are geared mostly for kids. For me, I don't like rides very much so I don't mind not having to go on rides but the kids really loved all the rides and went on so so so many! They were so happy and tuckered out by the end. My husband did let me know that some of the workers were hard to hear with their masks on and weren't friendly towards him or the kids. But I did see them regularly sanitizing the rides, not after every ride but maybe every 20-30 mins or something like that. We didn't have to wait in line for any excessive amount of time which is awesome! The lines moved quickly and were relatively short. I don't know if we just got lucky or if that's the norm here. As far as food goes, we thought ahead and brought a cooler filled with Lunchables, snacks, and water for all of us. That really helped cut the cost of the food and avoid eating too much greasy stuff. We did end up getting a corn dog, a pop, and some of those mini dots ice creams. All were decent and the ice cream was perfect on that hot hot summer day. The food was a bit expensive but not unexpected for this type of environment. A lot of the food cafes were closed so the ones that were open had long lines. Overall, I would definitely recommend Calaway park if you have younger kids and don't want to drop a few thousand dollars to visit Disney ;). Honestly I would definitely return and recommend it to others with younger kids.

You have to temper your expectations at this venue. You're paying approx $50 CAD admission for an amusement park in central Canada.... You're not paying $110 USD admission for a Disney or Universal theme park in San Diego or Orlando.... Most of the rides are targeted at an audience age 16 & below, the kids will easily have lots of fun here.... But I would not recommend this venue for an all adult group. We visited this amusement park on Sat 9 July in a group of three adults and one teen. We had a great time for what we paid. All the park staff we interacted with were excellent!

Great family amusement park 10 minutes outside of Calgary. Lots of parking, rides for mainly teenagers and under, staff is super friendly. Log ride, carousel ride, roller coaster, train ride etc Lots to keep everyone happy. Pricing is decent and better off purchasing season passes before June to save up to 60% Selection of snacks is good but the burgers, chicken fingers and fries are well below average. Never fresh and needs to be improved to have a higher star. Overall good value for families to enjoy the day on at this amusement park.

an operator at the fried frogs game, blatantly refused to the take my mothers money but would continue to take white peoples money. and when my mom asked why he wasn't taking her money he told her to calm down(she wasn't freaking out at him just asking a question) the game wasn't that busy where he couldn't take her money and was ignoring her. He was very rude and told another customer of the game "that we don't need people like that here" and said he was going to call security on her. -10/10 on that man

If you purchase a season pass early... You'll be happy to know it's a really good deal and you'll have it paid off with your first or second visit. Best time to visit is during Stampede because you won't have to wait for a single line. Basically go on all your favourite rides with little to no wait... Such as the log ride or the water boat. Overall, Calaway is a fantastic place to take your kids... They'll love every moment. Prices are good and rides are great for the little ones!

It's definitely not Disneyland...but it's ok for Calgary. I get that weather in Calgary would make it difficult to operate an amusement park. There's really only 2 major rides in this park (river log &!roller coaster). Naturally everyone heads straight to these rides making the lineups very long. The indoor restaurant is too small and get's overcrowded during lunch time. Overall it's a decent little park, but after 4-5 hours you'll have seen and done everything the park has. Our family enjoyed it, but there's really rush to go back. The park includes an RV park right next door, I don't know why anyone would go to this park multiple times over a few days.

This experience left me very soured. It was outrageously overpriced at $50 per person, which included entrance to the park & rides only. The food in the cafe was barely palatable and again, overpriced. Lineups were ridiculously long and the rides were ridiculously short. The staff was not very helpful and decidedly unfriendly. I left the park feeling like I had wasted a lot of time & a huge amount of money that could have been better spent elsewhere with my grandchildren. I will never recommend this park as I have done in the past. I'm so sorry it has reduced itself to this.

I used to love Calaway Park but now that I'm getting older its starting to be less fun each time I go. Its always the same rides over and over again and it gets really repetitive and boring overtime. I wish that at least every couple of years they add cooler rides for teenagers like me since the only ones that I find fun are the green roller coaster, log ride, and storm.

Usually I would give calaway park 5 stars but on this occasion I can only give two due to a very rude employee working on of the games. She was at the "goblet toss" game and spoke to my children very rudely and was short. She was very unfriendly and wouldn't even show them how to play the game. As they are only 3 and 5 they obviously were just looking for some positivity and happiness as they played the game not whether they won or lost. After they lost she said "yeah this game sucks nobody wins" I feel she just had a poor attitude towards everything.

A great place for kids and adults alike. It is aimed toward kids but has a few rides that are for adults.

This place is alright. Several of the rides were closed for maintenance but the park charged full price anyway. It wasn't just a few - it seems like about 1/3 of the rides were closed. The park is nice enough but feels slightly run down. They need more variety with their rides - almost every ride is a puke machine lol.

This place is the blessing and curse of Calgary parents. The little ones can't get enough of the rides, which are great for the 3-12 year set. Older kids would still have fun on the bigger rides. Weekends are definitely the busiest time but later afternoon isn't bad. Buy your yearly pass in advance for an entire summer worth of admissions! They have entertainment on an outdoor stage and lots of places to sit and eat. Generally it's clean and and well maintained.

Great park for little kids; they don't know the difference between this and Disneyland. Though it is in major need of some investment as many rides are ancient and they're all very simple and spin in a circle. Food is gross and expensive - the mini doughnuts are no bad. 15 minute 3D movies usually aren't good but the stage dancer shows are good.

Oh calaway park, the smell of cotton candy, mini donuts and the strange music playing as you enter the gates...so hauntingly beautiful. It certainly managed to evoke nostalgia of when I went as a teeny bopper. We recieved complimentary admission from a charity organization which was the highlight of the trip. The rides are decent for adults, but are perfect for children under the age of 15. We never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to get on a ride which made it more enjoyable. They do have stage performances that looked like some s*** out of glee, and a 3D movie experience that we never tried so I cant comment on that The food was 5/10. The vegitarian burger was 1/10 the size of the hamburger bun. On top of that we waited in line for what felt like eternity for our burgers to be cooked by children aged 14-15 who havent yet hit puberty. We were craving pizza that wasnt available in the main food court. We noticed a few kids who managed to find a food stall that served it, but the pizza looked as if someone chewed off all the cheese and left the dough to sell to the public. Besides the minor setbacks that all businesses endure, it was a great experience.

Calaway Park seems like a great place to work. But don't be fooled it's awful. They aren't considerate of their employees. I once stood in 35 degree heat for 8 hours with no break cause they 'forgot about me'. Basically Child Labor. I applied to be part time but ended up getting 5 shifts per week (40 hours) and they ignored the days I asked to be off.

I remember spending endless hours at Calaway Park when I was a kid. We'd pretty much go there every few weekends and take a picnic lunch to have somewhere on the grounds. For dessert, we'd always have a waffle cone garnished with sprinkles, cherries & whipped cream, and share it two ways with spoons. Mmmmm DELISH. I recently took a nostalgic trip back to Calaway and, while it wasn't AS amazing as I remember it, it's still a nice little amusement park that we've got so close to the city. It takes about 15 minutes to drive there from downtown Calgary and it has a lot of the rides that major amusement parks have. Ie: The Log Ride, Rollercoaster, Ferris Wheel, etc etc. If you're someone who is used to visits to Canada's Wonderland (in Ontario), I can guarantee that you'll be disappointed, so don't bother. It's A LOT smaller and A LOT more basic, but to be fair, it is A LOT closer to the city. If you need an amusement park fix and Disney Land/Disney World aren't feasible for a weekend getaway, then give Calaway Park a shot. It's not the greatest amusement park in the world, but it's a small, cute one that does the trick if you've got small kids or are stuck babysitting. Kids need distractions and this place will definitely keep them busy for a few hours.

We had a great time at Callaway Park, and can't wait to go again. My three-year-old loved it and hoped that we would go the next day. So many great rides for little kids and the parents had a good time too. Lots of places to eat and I would definitely try the pizza next time. Didn't get a chance to go on the log ride because it was so popular, Will make that a priority next time.

A great place to take kids on a nice day. Lots to keep them amused and busy, from rides, to games to the 3D show. Two disappointments were the log ride wasn't open. Even though it states on the signage " re-opening in the summer of 2014", it didn't have a firm date and with summer almost being over, makes me wonder when it's actually opening? If at all this year? We were looking forward to it and on a hot day, it was needed. The 2nd disappointment was the food options. They do have allot but not one healthy option. In this day and age, they really need a healthy option for kids. It is an affordable option for something to do with the kids and you can easily spend a day going on rides and enjoying the park. I hope the next time we go the log ride is finally open and I will be bringing healthy snacks with us.

Rides are great, very kid friendly. if you have little ones don't be afraid to take them here, there are a lot of tiny tot rides. Unfortunately if you are a larger sized human there are a FEW rides that may be a little uncomfortable or you may not be able to ride as harnesses don't ALWAYS fit. And definitely get there before 2 or at 2pm because there are to many things to do!

Nice little amusement park close to the city. It's nice that they have a wide variety of rides for kids of all ages. I also like the fact that you don't have to walk far to find some food. Not impressed with the fact that most of the food establishments have signs saying seating is only for their guests. It's one amusement park! The grounds are quite beautiful and they have a few little nooks set aside for family photos. The lines for the rides were not unbearably long- average wait time for us was 12 minutes. If you live in Calgary or close by, this is worth a trip every summer. (Kudos for the program that lets high school kids work in the park for some school credits)

Right off I am going to say that for the single entrance fee of this place, it might be a good idea to purchase the season pass because the mandatory entrance fee of $35 is insane. I am not keen on the rides and it is steep just for entering the park, kinda makes the Calgary Stampede affordable! That being said, I don't anticipate coming to this place more than once a year for the following reasons. 1. INSANE ENTRY FEES. 2. STUPID PARKING, I got trapped in by some mental defectives creating their own stalls in the rocky portion of the lot. 3. No healthy eating options, I know it is a carnival but I don't like being bombarded by cotton candy and iced cream at almost every vendor and don't get me started at the $5 bag of fluffy sugar that is still sitting in the back of my car. 4. Bumper Boats, seriously? My kids waited almost an hour for a 2 min ride, and one of the boats didn't work and my little guy was stuck in a corner for the entire ride and none of the carnies pulled him out! 5. Not done with bumper boats...why the hell isn't their a little kids bumper boats? There is a little kids bumper cars where the wait was less than 5 minutes. Get your crap together Calaway. Also, 2 of the boats were not working so only 10 people at a time were going, unlike the other rides where you can get over double in at once. Most of the riders were adults anyway, how is that fair for an 8 year old? Stupid. 6. Very limited kids rides. My younger son was not tall enough to go the the adult rides so for the kiddie rides there were less than 10 and he even thought they were lame and he is 6!. Even less if you have a toddler, my niece went on 3 rides. 7. Carny games with lame prizes, enough said. 8. No water fountains anywhere. (at least I didn't see any) 9. This has nothing to do with Calaway Park itself, but noticed lingering cigarette smoke odours, possibly from the douche-bag parents who are fabulous examples to their bratty undisciplined kids that I have personally seen jumping lines and their parents encouraging it. I can't wait to see how these exemplary members of society will turn out. 10. Stupid bumper boats, still pissed about it. All in all I give it a 2.5 because I love my kids and they had a good time. I personally prefer the Stampede to this and would go every year! And, WOOO HOOO, 1st to review!

Coming from Northern Alberta I had never been to Calaway park before. I think my expectations were a bit high but overall I was kind of disappointed. Price is a wee bit high but still reasonable. At least until you get in and find all the extra hidden cost there are. Extra for the mini golf, extra for the little maze and food is ridiculous overpriced. On the up side you can bring in your own food and drinks if you don't mind walking around with a heavy backpack. Extra for all the little mini games. Which of coarse are every few feet. Try saying no that many times when you ate trying to have a nice day with your family of 4. Ha, not likely. On the up side the park was relatively clean but proper seating was not easily come by and even though we didn't sit on the ground persay we all left with filthy bottoms. So wear dark pants. Also all of the rides were running on the day we attended, but I found they were alway run to full copacity even though there were long lines. Sigh. Anyway we came we saw we had fun. Won't be back again.

It isn't the greatest, or the best amusement park I have ever been to. But it is our amusement park. The park is great for kids. And trust me, it is full of them. The rides are good for everyone, and they have many rides that the family can enjoy together. They have some thrill rides that are good for teenagers and adults alike. Certainly a good value for a whole days fun, and if you watch the local newspapers and tourists guides, you will almost certainly find coupons, which will get the whole family in at a reasonable rate.

Great summer place for the kids, not so much for adults. My son is 6 yr/old and he adores Calaway. I think we went once every two weeks this summer? We get our season tickets before the new year when they are half price(ish). It's terribly expensive to go only once, I feel bad for anyone who is traveling though! Season pass holders get coupons to give to friends/family which at typically $19.00 - they come in very handy. We have taken a few of my sons friends with us on occasion cause it's way more fun for them if they have a buddy. Cause common, who only wants to hang with mom & dad? haha When kids are too small I'd reconsider getting passes unless they are accompanied by an older sibling. The rides are geared to a mid-height level, so there's a limited number for the wee ones. Try to go at off peak times, we've had trips where there were no line ups and visits where the line ups were insane. Plan ahead! Bring your own food & water bottles. Water is $3/each and food is equally ridiculous. Also it should go without saying but wear sunscreen & have hats!

This places pizza is literal cardboard. The fries are good & that's about it. Most of the lines you have to wait over half an hour for, for just a short 3 minute ride. Games are over priced for a simple little stuffy that you can buy for less than a dollar online.

Absolutely love this place! I've been coming here since I was a child and now bring my children! The food pricing is quite high but since you can bring food in it's not really a big deal! With a season pass you can't go wrong!

The park is great, completely agree with the previous comments. But I want to specifically acknowledge the associates. Boy, they are ever patient! I would go crazy on a hot summer day with crowds and crowds of noisy unruly kids and parents. But there was not a single time when I would come across an unfriendly associate. They smile, make jokes and make kids feel welcome. Great staff, the management must be doing something right!

Brought the wife and kid out for a day at Calaway, wasn't exactly excited to be there...boy was I turned around! We went first thing on a Sunday am and we hit about 6 rides before we had to wait in any lines. I ended up having lots of fun. The kids manning the ride were much less scary than the transient looking guys running rides at the stampede. Best bet is to buy the yearly passes at Co-op before the season starts as they are about the same price as regular day passes.

If you seen my previous reviews you would know my family and I traveled up to Calgary (4 hour drive) to have a family fun thanksgiving :) I went to Calaway when I was just a little girl and I remember thinking- I'm were the flinstones live! It was such a fun time! Last weekend was the first time I've been back since I was 7ish! It hasn't changed! Some may think that's a negative but I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the "flinstone" decor ;) The kids,hubby and I had such a fun day. We rode most of the rides, ate cotton candy/popcorn and laughed all day. It was so much fun! Seriously Calaway don't go anywhere! We will be back next summer! It was such a great place for the kids ( if they are tall enough to ride the rides) and spend the day together. I only gave it four stars instead of five because some of the staff... Yeesh. Rude and had no patience.. Which I was a little surprised about.. You are working the little swing- meant for tiny children who can't ride the majority of the other rides... Smile they are having a blast don't act so mean! Even with some of there attitudes we had so much fun! Almost as much as I remember having when I was little! :)

Fun park for the kids. in a province like Alberta, hamburgers's this bad are shameful. It may have been cow but I doubt any of it was made of meat. There were chunks of bone and grissel through it. It could have been snout parts though.

If you have children under 14 and live in Calgary the yearly pass is a really good deal. For kids under 12 this place is a way better choice than the stamped. The games are reasonable and the food is not too bad. We have been taking our daughter here since she was 3 years old and she still loves it at 10. Hint go Sunday Afternoon after 4 and you can get lots of rides in before they close. Well worth stopping in if you are in Calgary or on your way to Banff.

We always love visiting Calaway Park every summer! Best cotton candy around, always fresh food and the grounds are kept clean for the amount of people in there! This weekend's Comic Fest was a special treat for the kiddos!

Great place to take the kids, I just wish they put more effort into their food. I have made the mistake of eating a burger there and it was nasty! It also took 15 minutes which makes no sense since it was pre cooked. All in all a great place with lots for the kids to do, maybe putting in a bigger ride for the adults would help this place be a little more popular, but it is nice to have something like this so close.

Calaway Park was a ton of fun, my 3 year old loved. The atmosphere is great with kids and the park was clean and aesthetically appealing. The season pass is a much better value for money as admission is steep. Most of the staff were great with kids and gave high fives and made it super fun. Only opportunity, 2 separate staff members seemed really annoyed to be there. We had a blast and plan to go back later in the summer, should have bought the season passes!

My family enjoys coming here so that makes it worthy of the extra star (was gonna give it a two). Something about this place just gives me a vibe that it was once great but starting to erode. Maybe it's the rides that RE ALLY need a coat of paint, or are shut down or running at half capacity The new log ride is great, and I was really impressed with how quickly the line was processed. It was a long line, but it kept moving. The food here is absolutely awful! The kids ordered hot dogs and we got a huge hunk of bread with a skinny piece of meat inside. That is a lot of money to pay for such poor food. The place we went also had no ice. Room temperature coke just doesn't do it for me, yet they charged full price for it. The crowds are still coming so they are doing something right, just maybe put some profit into better upkeep and better food.

Great family fun when you are around Calgary, AB. Be sure to buy your tickets online for half price (a minimum of 4 tickets need to be purchased to get this deal).

It's great fun for the family, but in this day not having healthy food alternatives is unacceptable. All the major parks now have healthy choices and Calaway needs to step it up. Sure you can bring your own food but this just adds to the headache of a full day there.

I work here, if you don't get your tickets at Co-op or have coupons or come after two, you will end up spending well over $100 in a few minutes. Please get your tickets through co-op! I want you have a wonderful time at Calaway. Also, please be reminded that, 21+ Gst coupons are not prepaid! Thank you

calaway park was fun years ago but after returning yesterday... meh. the park is in need of a massive upgrade as everything is like 20+ years old. nothing new... no new restaraunts. went to the calaway cafe for lunch and had chicken fingers and fries. fries were cold as they had been sitting out and chicken fingers looked dehydrated. for $18 admission for two with the after 2pm rate was around $50. sadly, i just don't recommend calaway park any longer. too pricey for too little.
