We loved this hotel and their staff. Chris checked us in and insisted on carrying our luggage up the stairs to our room. This hotel/guest house is in the middle of the city. We walked everywhere. If we tired of the steep hills, ubers were cheap and plentiful. One of the staff (We did not get her name), made us dinner reservations in advance. The restaurant was so good we went back the next night!

PROS: The location is excellent, right in a historical building close to Ribeira, offering easy access to Porto's main attractions. Breakfast is included, and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Despite staying for only two nights, they cleaned our room after the first night while we were having breakfast, which was a thoughtful touch. CONS: There is no elevator, which is common in historical buildings throughout Portugal, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. While breakfast was good, there could have been more variety, but considering the limited number of rooms, this is understandable.

My wife and I spent three nights in this property and we highly recommend it. The staff is very friendly and helped us store our tendam bike. The breakfast is delicious, with lots of options. The location is perfect, just a few minutes from restaurants and the water. Rooms are big and clean.

The location of the guest is perfect. It is central to the activities or sites you want to visit. The room is large, comfortable (love the bed!), and good, diverse breakfast. Adding an expresso machine would be good. Staff friendly and very helpful. Loved the orientation with the map we received of Porto.

we were warmly greeted by diogo at the cale guest house, and could enjoy some small treats prior to settling in. unfortunately we were back too late from touring to take up the offer of a glass of port 😥🍷|| the rooms are clean and very spacious, with a nice view from the sitting room of the shops towards the river. we didn’t need to use the air conditioning, as the windows provided plenty of cool air in the evening. the curtains separating the sitting and bedroom were enough to block the street noise. breakfast was both generous and very nicely prepared.|it’s a pity we couldn’t stay longer, both to enjoy the hotel and amenities plus Porto itself. ||would definitely stay here again!|

I would recommend Cale Guest House to anyone visiting Porto. The hotel is basic but very clean. We were more than happy with our room, which included a small garden space to sit out in. Breakfast was included in our stay and offered teas, coffee, cereal, pastries, meats and cheese - it was plentiful. We were also offered a welcome drink of Port on arrival which was a nice touch. The staff here are exceptional, they were so warm and friendly each time we passed. The building is old and due to this there are no lifts (lots of stairs), staff carried our cases up the stairs and placed them in our room for our arrival. The guest house is in a fantastic location, right in the centre of Porto. You can reach Ribeira within 5 minutes and lies adjacent to R.das Flores (street with great bars and restaurants). If returning to Porto I would book here again as it was a very reasonable price for what was offered.

We had a wonderful stay at the Cale Guest House. The room was lovely and big and also very light. We had a small balcony at the front of the building. The staff were fantastic , all very friendly and helpful. They did a great job with the breakfast which was very good. I could not imagine staying anywhere else in Porto.

Yelp
This place surprised us from the moment we booked the reservation. They contacted us to send the map to the hotel and schedule the check-in. At the check-in, the staff was super friendly and gave us a complete guide to Porto, recommending restaurants in the area, Casas de Vinho, and touristic spots. The rooms were super clean and the hotel offers 24/7 snacks and water (pasteis de nata, cakes, cookies anc coffee/tea). I could not have been more happy with my stay! They made our dinner reservations and booked our taxi to the airport. We had a very early flight, so they even left some breakfast out for us. Super happy with their service and the location was perfect! I recommend the place to everyone that goes to Porto.

Yelp
I loved the Cale Guest house. The owner- Italvera- is so friendly and welcoming. Her staff are also lovely to deal with and very helpful. Both the young woman and man we dealt with were very obliging and booked us taxis to and from the airport as well as making a reservation for dinner at a restaurant that was difficult to get into. The Guest house is in a great location, being only a short walk downhill to the river as well as a short walk to Sao Bento station. The main stretch of bars on Galleria de Paris is not far with the shopping street of Santa Caterina being fairly close by too. The rooms are lovely and bright and clean. I had a room at the top at the front and it was huge. I loved the bathroom too. There is no lift and lots of stairs so this is not the place for you if you have mobility issues. However Porto itself is extremely hilly so its not suitable for people who are on crutches etc. The breakfast is a buffet affair- simple enough but enough to start your day. There is coffee and tea and fresh orange juice as well as meats, cheeses and fresh breads. There is someone replenishing the stuff as its eaten so its never a problem to get more of something if its run out. I loved the Cale Guest House and I would stay here again if I return to Porto. The city itself is perfect for a weekend break. Stay here- you wont regret it.
