Caledonia Bakery & Pastry

This is my second time buying from this Portuguese bakery, which I discovered after the Brazil festival, and it exceeded my expectations. The renovation feels a bit dated, and the presentation is average, but the taste and service are incredible. I highly recommend the savory codfish and chicken patties—absolutely delicious! The Portuguese and orange tarts live up to their reputation. Prices are budget-friendly, with most items being very affordable. Highly recommended!

Love to get fresh homemade style bread or well done pastries 🥐 🥧🥮🧁🍰but this time I had worse croissant ever in my life 🥴 it’s like was eating Portuguese sweet ban

Bought a cheese cake Wednesday Night to bring to work on Thursday and noticed it was stale and when flipped cake noticed mold. This is absolutely crazy and disgusting.

I went to have lunch, the place is very dirty. I ordered steak on a bun, it was tough, 1 peace of meat on a Portuguese bun nothing with it. The price of the steak was $13.00 I could've been at San Franciscos for slightly more cost but at least they give you meat with sauce and onions. Please don't waste your time, there are nicer and better Portuguese bakeries.

As I mentioned in my post from my experience at Nava era this is a better place to have a bite and coffee with great service and friendly servers, service is so great here and I even fancy a server here 😉 she's so great I always come back here 👍

I was here on a Monday morning and thought beginning of the week, early morning surely their items would be fresh. I was very wrong. Everything was old, stale, and tasted terrible. I spent over $60 and there is not one thing I would recommend. This is the worse Portuguese bakery I’ve ever encountered. I asked the lady serving if the malassadas were fresh, she lied and told me yes and they were not, they were hard and not fresh at all and did not have a good taste overall. I got two of each of the salgadinhos, all stale. They should be ashamed charging the prices they charge to serve the garbage they serve. There are so many Portuguese bakeries in the city, please do not waste your time and money here. Go to Dundas , those bakeries actually care about their customers and do a great job with their goods.

May 24,2025 If I could leave -5 I would. I bought 16 Natash, they said they were freshly baked. They also assured me that everything that it was in there was baked today…. LOL I laughed! Did you know that if the Natash has something on top such as sugar or chocolate, it is because they are old? 😂 ahaaaaaa! Well! They were not fresh! and they refused to refund me the money. They made me take something else. The “manager” was not even qualified enough to handle a simple situation as this one. The pastry was far for flaky and crumbly. I would not recommend this place

Purchased 6 Pastel De Nata ($9.30 inc. tax) to take home. Was looking for some cookies to go as well but despite bakery was being huge I did not see varieties of sweets to choose. Past de nata was fresh and feeling was rich but not overly sweet. Compared to Nova & Caldense, I thought it was comparable. I saw other customers buying fresh portuguese bread & buns to go. Next time I would like to try their sandwiches.

This spot was ok in my books. It was my first visit here and nothing was really "bad" per se but nothing really "wowed" me either. I believe I likely ordered the wrong items and thus was a little disappointed. Growing up going to Italian bakeries every weekend after church, I gotta admit when I walked into Caledonia Bakery I had to check myself for a second because I honestly felt like I had been here before: bread, baked goods, coffee, light grocery and lottery. Except instead of Italian, this spot is Portuguese. It's basically the same except the Italians make canolis and Calabrese bread while the Portuguese make Natas and Portuguese buns. CBP has a great selection of baked goods and even offers table service for some food - unlike an Italian bakery there was no hot table. So I went with a breakfast sandwich, and a cafe latte to stay (and a regular coffee to go). Sandwich was a fried egg on a soft Portuguese bun.. blah. No offer to add cheese or sauce or toppings, just here ya go. Kinda bland and hard to choke down, I coulda made this at home and better. The latte was ok, but had a strong after taste while the regular coffee was strong and real good. I think this is a weekend coffee and a dessert spot but also a prime local meeting spot in Corso (not so) Italia. I'll be back to reup this review Eatcrest Out

Was there recently picking up Portuguese tarts for the coworkers. Definitely regular customers there when I dropped by. Picked up some corn buns and tarts and my co-workers loved me! The crust was slightly chewy and the custard wasn't too sweet, great warmed up for 10 seconds. Best I've ever had? Nope but definitely worth the proximity and price. Friendly service as well! Lots of options when you're there, glad I didn't look on yelp before I pulled in!

This is a very good neighborhood bakery with delicious bread and good sandwiches. The desserts aren't amazing besides the custard tarts. Sometimes the rum balls and donuts are good. I like this place but be prepared to be treated differently if you aren't very local or don't speak Portuguese Still I like it much better than The neighboring Nova Era bakery

The food isn't good, the coffee is terrible, and the service is slow. With the set-up of the café, sitting in some places means the waitresses will ignore you. They always say their wifi doesn't work. Bifanas should always come with cebolada (onions), but they charge an additional $0.50 for it!! The only good thing about this place is that it's closer to my workplace. However, I always walk the extra bit to Nova Era just down the street.

Very tasty food. I love the "Pastel de Nata" they have. Also the sandwiches you ask them to prepare are very good, with their own bread, cheese and ham.

The Portuguese tarts and desserts are good. Also the breads are made fresh daily. They also have a lottery kiosk and patio.

I often went to Nova era in front of Caledonia Bakery & Pasty. The reason was pretty simple. Nova era was like Caldense and there are other shops. I had been familiar with the shop, so I often dropped by. One day I decided to try Caledonia Bakery. The first time I had a cup of tea and custard puddings inside the shop. It was comfortable. Second time, I bought a ham and cheese sandwich and it was pretty good. The atmosphere is good and the service is good. I want to get more of their pastries again soon.

Bought 6 natas yesterday to serve guests with breakfast this morning. So embarrassed, unacceptable they sold me these hard stale pastry. Can't chew through them!

I've been a couple times around 9pm at night for their bread and it's been soft and fresh even then. Such a great taste. I haven't tried their hot drinks or pastries but I'm sure they would be the same. Service was good. A-

Worst idea ever. I would NOT recommend this place for anyone, at any time. They are over staffed, yet somehow the service is rotten - perhaps because all of the employees seem more interested in chatting amongst themselves while hiding in a clump behind the counter. When I asked to order a sandwich, I was told there was no menu. Great. After a long pause in which the employee stared at me blankly, she suggested that I order a chicken sandwich. having literally nothing else to choose from, I went for it. Without any mention if a price the girl took my order and vanished. I went over to the cash to pay and found out it would be a $9 sandwich. What??!! I was shocked, but figured it might be amazing, so I'll give it a shot. Surprise, surprise. While the bun was fresh, the sandwich had a single tiny piece of lettuce, two unripe tomato slices, and some canned mushrooms jammed in. It tasted bland, with a hint of something scrapped off the bottom of the grill. Just miserable. $9 later, I downloaded the Yelp app for no other reason than to write this review. Hopefully someone reads this before they ruin their day with a crappy meal. Again, I strongly suggest avoiding this place at all cost!
