Calgary International Airport is clean, modern, and generally well-organized. The layout is easy to navigate, with clear signage and helpful staff throughout. Security and customs are usually efficient, and there’s a good selection of food and shopping options, especially in the international terminal. The domestic terminal can feel a bit crowded during peak hours, and sometimes the walk between gates is longer than expected. That said, it’s still one of the better airports in Canada

Jaspal Singh

Google
July 2025 5* Arrival ———- Took a domestic flight from Toronto to Calgary. It was stampede week but the airport was not crowded. Arrival was very smooth and you can reach baggage area quickly. We received our baggage in 15 mins. You can take taxi or ride hailing vehicle from outside. Car rental area is also in parking terminal. Departure ————-// Departure was smooth and quick. You can also visit Nexus enrolment if you have appointment. Security was quick and can do shopping inside. Could not visit lounge. The place is fully assessable and has wheelchair parking and entrance.

Google
Amazing Fun Zones for kids. The climbing place for kids 5-12 outside of security in the domestic arrivals terminal is amazing. If you have a long layover, it’s definitely worth coming out to climb.

Google
Calgary Airport offers a beautiful and modern interior that makes a great first impression. The space is bright, clean, and well-maintained, reflecting the efficiency and care you'd hope for in a major international hub. One thing to keep in mind for international travelers: it’s about a 6-minute walk from your arrival gate before you’ll find the first bathroom, so plan accordingly. If you're renting a car, the rental facilities are located on the second floor of a separate building. After exiting the main terminal, you'll need to cross the street and take the elevator up—it's not difficult, but it adds a few extra steps to your arrival process.

Google
Good airport, it is a bit confusing sometimes though, took half an hour to find our terminal, but other than that, it is a very solid airport. Also a really big airport, with somehow a good view of the calgary skylines, the line was OK, security was relatively easy, except we had to throw away butter. Other than that, good airport

Google
A well planned and spacious airport, early morning checking in, security are like a breeze in 10.minutes. Lot of food options in food courts and spacious gates and terminals. Good size airport for Calgary. Lot of places to sit and rest.

Google
This airport has always been nice, got everything you need like restaurants, lounges, pet releases area, stores, food courts and more. They used to have those electric buses to drive from gate A to D, E. But those buses have been down for a long time, and no plans bringing them back. If I have to guess the cost of operating and maintenance and repairs are high. I think they need to figure out what to do, and they currently have those electric golf carts for now, but you cannot fit as many people and luggage’s and long waits. So if you are healthy and walkable, you will have to walk between gates and be prepared for extra time.

Google
Calgary Airport has a lot of themed decor and seems to have a recent refresh. The Marriott has a branch that is at the locale itself at gate C. There are 3 food courts. One is public at arrivals near gate C on the upper level, another inside domestic departures between gate A and B. And the last one is at E. Each has a different mix of quick service restaurants. Bistro on the Bow is for the public and it is located right outside international arrivals. The other eateries are located inside, especially in domestic departures hosted between gates A and D. Interesting stores include the Duty Free section near D gate in departures and the toy store on the lower level near C gate at arrivals very close to the public food court. Note that transits from Canada inbound to US outbound require you exiting before going back in through an additional layer of security. Entry is only permitted 2 hours before the scheduled flight, likely due to limited accomodations as only 1 or 2 gates (E mostly but D depending on scale) are dedicated to these flights. Ubers are at the lower level although there is also an onsite rental car centre.

Yelp
A good airport although not on the newer side. Efficient to get around inside and outside as the airport isn't that big. Flying to and from US (even with snow/ice everywhere on the ground) was a breeze, seems like a very competently run airport. Restrooms are very nice and didn't seem too busy. Only one major gift shop on the way out, and it conveniently had a good icewine selection.

Yelp
Definitely a nice airport. I've gone here 4 times. Has a good duty free area. They have this ride a bike thihng to charge your phone that's cool. I never see that at airports. Everything seems pretty straight forward. It's definitely clean inside too.

Yelp
Yelp Review 2024 #111: It was my first time flying in/ out of Calgary International Airport. I had a 3-hour layover here and I looked up what's there to see and eat at this airport prior to leaving home: not a whole lot. So, I opted to stay at Elevation Lounge as it was included on my airfare anyway. The gate I got out of was at a different gate from the lounge. I could've walked to the lounge gate. They have little carts that take you to/ from different gates every few minutes which is convenient if you can't/ don't want to walk. With what I saw, this airport is spacious and clean. There's just not much good restaurants. Mostly fast food, wine bar, Asian restaurants (you can't expect good Asian food from an airport - unless you're in Asia!). It's easy to navigate. Hassle-free travel...except for the lady that was in between our transfer gates who told us we can only stay in D gates...stay in one area for 3 hours when we have lounge access? I don't think so! So, we went to the lounge in B gates and went back to D gates 20 minutes before boarding.

Yelp
Comfortable airport with early morning breakfast options, magazine & books along with last minute gift shops. We have a stop over & go through customs in Toronto. The YYC LINK shuttle is a fast, free & a convenient way to travel between terminals. These motorized 10-seater shuttles follow a preset track through the airport. Each Canadian-made shuttle car is wheelchair-accessible and available during peak travel times. They stop at Concourses A, B, C and D in a loop.

Yelp
Easy airport to fly in and out of. As expected, had to walk a ways to get to customs upon arrival. Signage is good and little waiting at customs.

Yelp
This is a modern, spacious, airy, and chill airport.  I liked it a lot.  They don't use TSA-precheck but they do use Global Entry Pass so make sure to bring your card along if you have one as they do ask to look at it here. The GEP saved us a huge line of regulars going through US Immigration and Customs after checking in.   We saved at least 30 minutes I would guess but we were in no hurry.  No immigrations and customs required at ORD, as it's all taken care of here (but man as an aside I had the longest walk ever at ORD when landing at the far end of Terminal 5 and going to Westjet's luggage claim at the other far end carousel 12!).  Anyway, back here at YYC, it just left more time to putz around, like tasting samples at the friendly Rocky Mountain Chocolate shop lol.
google avatar

Dianna M.

Yelp
Cleanest airport we've ever visited. YYC has earned a spot on our favorite airports list, along with PDX, SFO & FRA. YYC could teach AMS lessons on running a smooth Customs, and Security Department.

Yelp
We got a nice small compact car Qashqai. Guess this is only for the Canadian market. Haven't seen it in USA. Well maintained, even though the mileage was around 25,000 km. Value for money. No wait when we took delivery or when we returned the vehicle in the wee hours of the morning.

Yelp
Why 4 stars? Because the airport was clean and easy. --- ---- --- We traveled into Calgary from Vancouver and out of Calgary back to Houston recently. Both times, the experience was very uneventful, which is exactly what you want in an airport. The rental car companies were just right outside of baggage claim and just as easy of a drop-off on the way out. Getting through customs was hilariously easy. We walked right up just as the person speaking with the agent was leaving. She asked the standard 2-3 questions and we were on our way. Terminal E was clean, modern and open. We actually ate in the city of Calgary before heading to the airport because the options inside the airport didn't look too appealing. There are a few options, but I like to avoid airport food when I can, especially when the options are mostly just typical. The layout reminded me of Kansas City: long and narrow. When we dropped off our rental car, we walked so far to Terminal E that it reminded us of our hikes in Banff we'd just got done with. But if that's the biggest complaint I have, an airport is doing it right.

Yelp
Long walks! It's 11 at night and it's lit up inside like it's mud afternoon. Not very peaceful stress free or relaxing for weary travelers. Because it's lit up everywhere it is noisy and also super hot!!! I cannot remove anymore clothing and feel like I'm in a sauna. No water available in vending machines nearby just flavored crap. Looking forward to boarding soon.
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
A boring airport that while functional lacks any imagination. Make sure your phones are fully charged before going to your gate to wait for your time to board. Most airports have electrical receptacles available in the sitting area, but not in this airport.
google avatar

John F.

Yelp
Nice airport. While unable to deboard our aircraft, the emergency services personnel were quick and helpful to the person who had the medical emergency while enroute to Inchon. Well done Calgary.

Yelp
Cleanliness: 5 TSA / US Customs: 5 Handicapped accessible: 5 Layout: 5 We flew in and out of the Calgary international Airport this week, and for the most part everything went flawless. There is plenty of shops and restaurants throughout the airport, so I'm sure if you need to get some flight snacks you should not have any issues. This airport was very clean and well maintained to the highest standard of cleanness. All the staff at TSA and Customs were very professional. @glampedlife
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Modern, efficient, and the nicest TSA and airport staff! There are lots of amenities and areas to hang out. Easy to get around.
google avatar

Yelp
Arrivals: Easy immigration and customs process I didn't have check in luggage, so I can't comment on that. Car: good walk from the arrivals section. They did wait for our delayed flight past their closing time. Make sure your car rental company knows your flight information. Departure: We arrived via car rental. The rental was dropped off at the parking garage and then we walked across to departures. Security was quick. They do make you take your shoes and jacket off. They are particular about your liquids. Make sure they are all in a 1 liter bag, even aerosols, mascara, etc. You do also have to go through customs. They do have a global entry option. The gates are spacious. There's enough seating. I didn't see any outlets by the seats. Our flight out was at 8am. Not much was open. They did have a few coffee and snack places.

Yelp
A surprisingly large airport, I've been here many times, usually a layover to elsewhere. The free YYC LINK shuttle is definitely unique and I've used it a couple times when I was tired and wanted an easy way to get closer to my gate. There are lots of restaurants and space, clean, and has good lighting. A bit far away from Calgary central though.

Yelp
CALGARY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT is large large large... yet not crowded at all. They have a consolidated car rental facility that is accessible by tram. The workers are so friendly and helpful. Signage is easy to spot and follow. They have a hotel right there in one of the terminals! Clean. Easy and fast immigration with no line.
google avatar

Christine A.

Yelp
Updating my review because I came back through Calgary on my return flight. I think YYC is probably fine/great for domestic flights, but the international line for returning to the states was awful! Most of us in line had connecting flights with short connections the security lane was so long! I waited in it for almost an hour before they magically allowed TSA pre heck folks jump the line (TSA pre heck generally doesn't work outside the states). Important thing to note, all beverages must be discarded/dumped at the entrance of the security line. Border patrol with the actual agents is always quick. The agent asked if you have checked baggage or not - those of us with no checked baggage were able to proceed through to border agents, but those with checked bags had to hang back.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Calgary, so it too was our first time at YYC. My family and I travel quite a bit (well, we used to prior to COVID) and this was our first family trip out of the state of Hawaii in almost 4 years. We decided on a spring break excursion to Golden (actually, 25 km west of Golden) to satisfy our oldest twin's wish to have a snowy and cold vacation, with the possibility of seeing the northern lights. If you don't know, Hawaii is a LONG way from everywhere. Sadly, WestJet doesn't have a non-stop to Calgary from Honolulu except on Wednesdays (they should really look into that), so we had to settle for flying through Salt Lake City with a long layover. Upon arriving at YYC, we noticed that, although smallish, it was organized, clean and modern. To our delight, the customs and immigration process (coming and going) was efficient and effective. The staff was nice and very helpful (take a lesson TSA). Fantastic experience. So why only 4 stars? Well, this isn't entirely YYC's fault, but our horrible experience with Budget car rental really put a terrible taste in my mouth (I consider car rentals to be part of the YYC system). If you're curious about my experience, feel free to visit my Budget review.

Yelp
The airport was nice and clean! Not enough choices for restaurants! Checking in to go to the US was very fast!
google avatar

Robb R.

Yelp
I'm not sure what all the low stars are for (must be pre-remodel) because the US terminal is great. Modern, clean, and easy to navigate. Throw in some decent restaurants (shout out to the Wolfgang Puck place) and what more could you want for an airport. Note that Global Entry saves a huge amount of time in the morning and that unlike many places they ask for your Global Entry card.
google avatar

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
Wonderful airport! It is clean, beautiful, and full of shops and food. I loved the murals and signs they had to welcome you to beautiful Canada. Customs was easy to get through and I found their security system to be more efficient than any other airport I have been to.

Pyxy S.

Yelp
The staff here either have no idea about accessibility or just do not care. I flew with my mother (74 with mobility issues) in August 2024 and had a connecting flight. We got off the flight in Calgary and my mother's walker was nowhere in sight. I asked the staff standing there. The woman said it was by the elevators at the end of the hallway. I told her that my mother needed her walker to walk. If she could walk down that hallway to her walker, she would not need her walker. She rolled her eyes and said "Its not THAT far of a walk." If I could give zero stars I would.
google avatar

Ardalan M.

Yelp
Beautiful!! Spacious!! I flew West Jet- Very kind and helpful WestJet attendants. Customs/security officers were also VERY VERY professional and efficient. It truly looks like it was just built, with modern elements and very high high ceilings. I know you don't really have a choice in airports when you fly somewhere but the airport makes a trip to Calgary even more pleasant.

Barry E.

Yelp
Contrary to their website, the airport is not operational 24/7. I arrived from Toronto with a connecting flight to Grande Prairie at midnight. I was told that I had to claim my bag in Calgary as they could not book it all the way through. Upon collecting my bag,I proceeded to the self check in and dropped my bag. I then proceeded to security but it was closed. I was informed that it would not re-open until 0400. Of course on the "non-secure" side of the check in, there are literally two sets of seats, which of course were full of people. Just another example of why I hate YYC.
google avatar

Lea T.

Yelp
Flying in was fantastic and bags were not a long wait, but it took a long time to get through security going back to the US. I made an appointment for security, so that was fast but getting through customs was slow using the general line. I saw a MPC line with no waiting, but couldn't check it out while in line bc we weren't allowed to use our phones in line. I appreciate that the United Flight attendants sent people back when they tried to board early. As others have said, there is weirdly a lot of room for walking, but very little space for sitting in terminal E.
google avatar

Dylan S.

Yelp
One of the better airports I've ever been to Coming from US, the arrival gate was well lit and had a really warm feel. I personally thought the walkway right before we get picked up can be a bit more modernized. The US terminal for departure was awesome. It was modern, well lit, and very spacious as well. The sucky thing is that I forgot to bring my global entry card and had to wait in a very long line. So if you saw this review, make sure to pack your global entry card!

Yelp
Flew back home to the USA last weekend after a few weeks traveling national parks ending in Banff. This was an easy experience for us and everything is updated, with great signage, easy to walk and understand, and quick-moving. We returned a rental car to their co-located rental facility (right across the street from departures) and then walked to our airline to check-in. The staff at check-in were wonderful and took great care of us, even comping two of our 4 bags so we didn't pay as much to fly home (thank you Katherine of AA) and getting through security was fast and friendly. Staff were very thorough but so polite and friendly. Even customs was kind saying, "Welcome home" when they stamped our passport. The airport is modern, spotless, and has nice amenities and options for dining and shopping while you wait. Our flight left on time and everything was smooth for us flying out of this airport. Love our friendly neighbors to the North, looking forward to my next visit to this beautiful part of the world.
google avatar

Vicky T.

Yelp
This is my first time arriving to Canada. The custom border officers are super friendly. Everything is easy and straightforward. They have kiosk at the custom which helped a lot for the waiting line. A lot of helpful staffs around.
google avatar

Geoffry H.

Yelp
Checked into the Calgary Airport on my way to Winnipeg. Always very clean, lots of signage but needs more dine in restaurants. Lots of fast food outlets but needs more restaurants where people can eat and work or relax. Wifi is very good, good selection of charging stations just not enough of them. Plenty of seating and like most airports lots of walking.
google avatar

Treena C.

Yelp
Kind of humorous that there is all of this space but very few seats for people waiting.
google avatar

Vince L.

Yelp
Clean and modern airport. Entry dumps you into duty-free store that you have to get through into the terminal. A couple of sit-down restaurants and a few fast food options. Plenty of seating. It's fantastic that US-bound flights pre-clear for customs. Upon entry to the US, it's like a domestic flight.
google avatar

HsiaoCheng W.

Yelp
Clean and not crowded. Big fans overhead to keep you cool (not that you need it). Immigration was a breeze.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
This is a very nice and clean international airport. We have been through it twice now and both times everyone was very friendly and the place was clean. They have a great variety of food options to pick from and they have a variety of seating that includes some longer benches Incase you have a long layover and want a nap. I would definitely fly through Calgary again.
google avatar

Ian M.

Yelp
I remembered traveling through the YYC airport years ago and my memory serves me correct! Passenger servicing was great and the flow of the building really works well. Corridors are wide and ceilings are high. The terminals are well lit and have a great selection of food and drink. There are also some shopping options for last minute items before your flight. Customs was very fast for me, but remember to get there with plenty of time just in case it gets busy!
google avatar

James Y.

Yelp
Brand new looking high tech airport cannot maintain their power supply and do not have backup contingencies when power shuts down. Employees and Security personnel of this Airport are all incompetent. Employees and Airline personnel also do not have a clue what to do if power shuts down an airport for hours. This incompetence is probably inherent to the entire city of Calgary. I will never go to this city ever again.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
this airport is very clean and well preserved I've never really ever had a bad experience here with any of my flights or the customer service. It's definitely smaller compared to like Vancouver but still just as nice 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

deep r.

Yelp
2 consecutive times transit here, and both bad experiences with delay, rude staff, crappy food options. So thats my criteria for rating an airport bad (out of 100 plus int airports I have transited through)
google avatar

Scott T.

Yelp
Ah, airports. The recipients of angry travelers blaming everything on a building and its management, like somehow they're responsible for a weather delay in Toronto or Seattle for the late arrival of the plane needed for your flight. I digress. This is a beautiful airport, and while you can certainly do a bit of walking here, it's sleek, spacey, airy and attractive to the eye and is a bit of architecture in and of itself. I can't see what's to not like. Even the food court is not gross (are you listening, Atlanta?) and has some attractive food options. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we didn't get to try to international lounge for flights departing into the U.S. but hope to on our next visit. Now have family living in Calgary so will be travelling in and out of here often in the future. I really like what I've experienced, and even the customs upon entering from the U.S. was well designed, well thought out and easy. What's to not like? Convenient car rentals aren't too far away, and you have to do a bit of hoofing at any airport for those. Thanks, YYC, we can only hope MCI's new $1 billion + terminal can measure up to your standards.

Manasi U.

Yelp
The Indian girl working in the A- Security before the flair airlines had the most disgusting attitude & worst behaviour ever. Putting false accusation without any reason on the travellers for self ego she was working on 27th September on YYC security
google avatar

Terry D.

Yelp
Is it just me or is it a bit dark in here? And may e a bit stuffy as well? It's well laid out and easy to maneuver but overall, not exactly esthetically pleasing, eh? I'm not looking for the shiny glitz of Toronto, just a little less woodgrain and carpet.
google avatar

Carolyn L.

Yelp
Excellent staff at the airport. Very helpful. We ended up being delayed getting into the airport as the taxi driver kept us outside for about half an hour arguing over the fare we paid via credit card (that's another story). We rushed in to check in and drop off my luggage. Air Canada personnel were great too. Went off to get through the security check. Unknown to us, we were at the security gate which was further from our boarding gate. The security staff checked our documents and carry on bag and said she would put us to the priority line for the X-ray machine scanning and even told us about the shuttle inside which would take us to our boarding gate faster. At that time I did not realize we were cutting it quite close to the boarding time, but the airport staff knew. These little acts of kindness by the staff helped us made it in time for our flight. I like the shuttle within the terminal. All airports should have that. Some people do have mobility issues or could be in a hurry. Signs could be clearer on which security check gate is closer for domestic, USA and international departures. From the little time I spent in the airport, it is pretty good. Clean too.

Emily C.

Yelp
I've been through this airport a lot. I've had few to no problems with flights/bags/checking in etc. customs is nice and quick and they have lots of kiosks for check in. But HOLY COW getting my luggage should not take an hour. This is not a one time experience, it is everytime. I don't see how this is acceptable and I'd love for something to be done about it.
google avatar

Steph B.

Yelp
Calgary YYC is a really nice airport international airport. I almost always fly in from the States through the new international terminal. What I find is that on arrival you can quickly get through pass through customs and immigration. If you have a NEXUS card the whole process takes minutes. Then I grab an Uber at one of the level 2 gates and vroom on to Calgary. Flying domestically you get to see more of the airport. The art and deco is pretty nice. I don't mind having a long layover or wait because there is plenty to look at and lots of venues to eat or drink. I also really appreciate the folks who are here to help me with my dumb questions like "where is door 12" and etc. Calgary is one of my favorite cities in North America and it starts and ends here at YYC!
google avatar

Dani S.

Yelp
Not a huge fan of this airport. The whole place is a little bit outdated, not a huge airport but doesn't seem super organized. I was able to swipe some free food from the premium airport lounge which was nice. The car rental companies are all inside the airport so no shuttle required. The convenience factor is desirable. Location is not great, it is kind of far from the middle of town.
google avatar

Darlene R.

Yelp
Our first time at the new Calgary international Airport. Check in and security was a breeze. Very clean and sparkly and huge!!!! With so much space you don't really notice the people. In some ways it's almost like wasted space. Drop off was so easy and a very short walk to kiosk. Once passed security there are fast food joints and Wolfgang restaurant, as all restaurant at airports over priced food. Due to the early morning and I do mean early 4:00 am. Not much open and one options for breakfast. (Wolfgang restaurant) Seating is limited at the gates, is the only down fall. Other then that very nice airport.
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
The International side of the Airport is so updated and new. It looks super modern. I really like the shiny granite floors. The domestic part is a lot smaller. Ceiling is not as high and the decor is not as modern. The domestic side needs a little more improvement. It is not a wow airport. Also inside is limited in restaurants. In the domestic side you have Chili's, Tim Horton, and Jugo and a new pizza place that just recently opened up. If you are flying international, there is only one restaurant. I really like the little airport taxi that drives passengers from one terminal to the other. There are charging ports at this airport for commuters but it is first come first serve.

Maria Y.

Yelp
This airport is really bad, expect a lot of unforseen delays when you fly to this airport. You will miss connections, wait for hours in the plane AFTER it lands. You will wait for more hours for your luggage to come out of the conveyor. The Calgary Airport, Canada Border Security and Canadian airline personnel are all low intelligence people who cannot get a better job anywhere else, who have no clue how to run an airport efficiently. Maybe stay away from this city altogether.

Yelp
YYC continues to not be able to deliver luggage when flights arrive. Over 90 minutes to get luggage. Very poor service.
