We enjoyed our stay at Calheta beach! We booked a suite side sea view. It did have a side view of the ocean, but the room was across the street. However, the suite was large with plenty of space! The parking garage can get pretty full (parking is free if you book your room through their website). The staff at Calheta are very nice and super helpful! The entertainment in the evening was mainly dancing and singing, which was good! The food options were pretty good, but it would be nice if more food was available between mealtimes (there is a snack bar but it is fairly limited). Overall, we had a great experience at Calheta beach!

An amazing stay at the Calhetta Beach hotel.|Cleanliness and presentation around the hotel is excellent. Lots of very comfortable, pretty seating areas.|The food was amazing in my opinion, something different every night and always loads to choose from. The waiters were so helpful and friendly and worked very hard.|Receptionist staff were great and full of information. We got the hotel bus into Funchal twice at 30 euros each return. Great drop off point, couldn't get lost!|The bar and pool area are so clean. |The snack section was one of the best I have had in all inclusive..lots of choices and cakes were amazing! |Cocktails are freshly made, not from a machine and were very, very good .|Not a lot to do in the area around the hotel but that suited me lovely, had a small walk after dinner and the 2 trips into Funchal were enough.|I would definitely recommend this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, as did my friend.|Thank you to all the staff who made our holiday wonderful.

Pure class and very high standards. A fantastic hotel which I cannot fault in anyway. Staff so very pleasant and helpful. A request made to the travel agent was not passed onto the hotel but despite being very busy it was sorted out for us the next morning. Nothing was too much, so very accommodating in every way. A special mention to the very special South African lady on reception so pleasant and thoroughly professional, a big asset to the hotel.

On arrival at the hotel everything was fine and we were greeted by very friendly staff at reception. We chose a Mountain View room and it was very cold due to lack of sunshine. The heating did not work in the room but we were provided with a freestanding one which helped. The bed was very big and comfortable . The bathroom needs updating due to being damp all of the time. The bathroom sink and toilet leaked but we did not make a fuss as just put it down to the bathroom needing an update. The food was plentiful but not always hot enough for me. We visited the Al a carte based in the hotel twice which was well worth the visit. We also went to another Savoy hotel nearby where we were given a 30 euro per couple discount on our food bill. This was a beautiful experience and the food was divine. The hotel is situated on the beach front with a nice harbour with lots of restaurants. We went on a dolphins/whale watching experience and this was amazing. Overall great stay but a little quiet for us. We took the public bus to Funchal which is quite a long journey but worth it as we love it there. We also took the same bus (142) to Ponta Do Sol which was a very nice little village with a pebble beach. Cute shops and only 25 minutes on the bus .

This is a very nice and well equipped all-inclusive, 4-Star hotel. You will get everything that you can expect!||The buffet gives several options, also for vegetarians and kids. The staff is great and very attentive, always to looking to make your stay more pleasant. Once in a while, even the Director is around ready to greet you and show the hotel commitment to please the guests. |The kids club is also very good for the kids, they will have different activities for different ages and likes. |The hotel is direct at the beach, so you can enjoy as it suits you best!... and even with "bad" weather, there is an interior Pool that you and kids can enjoy.

The Calheta Beach Hotel is located in a picturesque spot, right by a small beach with a view of the ocean. However, it is clear that the hotel’s best days are behind it. Both the building and the interiors are in need of renovation—visibly dated and lacking modern touches.Catering primarily to Western European retireesThe hotel clearly caters to an older clientele, mostly retirees from Germany and the UK. Families with small children may feel somewhat unwelcome here. We were accommodated in the second row of buildings, away from the main hotel facilities, which made us feel a bit isolated from the core of the resort.Staff and serviceMost of the staff were friendly, kind, and helpful—especially the housekeeping team, who were discreet, polite, and always smiling. Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant experience with the front desk. Despite having prepaid for parking, the receptionist refused to issue me a card for multiple entries and exits, which caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience.Room and amenitiesThe room itself was acceptable, though not up to modern four-star standards. A significant downside was the lack of a coffee machine and no option to stock or order a minibar—something that was particularly inconvenient during a longer stay.⸻SummaryCalheta Beach may be a good choice for older guests looking for peace and quiet, beach proximity, and reasonable prices. However, families with children may feel overlooked, and more demanding guests may be disappointed by the lack of basic amenities. The location and the kindness of most staff members are strong points, but the hotel clearly needs renovation and a more inclusive approach to different types of guests.

The hotel is old! The reception staff helps with information, but understand that not everything is in their power. We booked a room with a side view of the ocean, it turned out that the room is in another building across the street and the front view is on a noisy road. They could not change our room, because there were no better rooms. We wanted to leave faster, cockroaches were crawling freely in the room, restaurant and children's room ((. The hotel does not have its own massage therapists, they come at the request of the hotel and are not customer-oriented. The exchange that is hung on the hand is made of cheap plastic with sharp edges and caused irritation on the skin. There is definitely no desire to return to this hotel or recommend it. However, there was one woman from the cleaning service, whose work and care I want to note and thank, she tried to take into account our wishes, thank her for that!

We stayed in a very large suite on the 4th floor. The best part of our stay was the happiness we witnessed from our toddler son who had an extra bed in the living room area and a tent built there for him, which he loved. |We had a wonderful meal at Onda Azul and Lucy, the restaurant manager, was kind enough to spend some time on a quick walk with our 2-year-old son. |The graphic design is very interesting in bright blue and orange. |Service in general was very friendly both for dinner at Onda Azul but also at Calheta for breakfast in the morning.
