Calheta Green

This restaurant offered one of the most refined dining experiences on the island. The setting was elegant and calm, with an outstanding view that elevated the overall atmosphere. Service was polished, attentive, and discreet, with a clear attention to detail throughout. The grilled meat was the highlight of the meal well-seasoned, deeply flavorful, and expertly cooked. Ordered medium, it arrived with a tender interior, a perfectly developed exterior, and a balanced char that enhanced the natural taste of the meat without overpowering it. The accompaniments were thoughtfully prepared. The salad was fresh and crisp, while the cooked vegetables were well-balanced and clean in flavor. The homemade potatoes stood out with their comforting texture and honest, rustic taste. Portions were generous yet well-proportioned, offering excellent value for the quality presented. Condiments were handled with care: freshly ground salt and pepper at the table, hygienically packaged sauces, and good-quality olive oil. A balsamic dressing was provided upon request and complemented the dish nicely. To conclude, I ordered a Nikita with passion fruit,pineapple and coffee. The drink was smooth, aromatic, and refreshing, offering a pleasant contrast of sweetness and bitterness. The regional punch, while well-made, was slightly too alcohol-forward for my personal preference. Overall, this was a thoughtful, well-executed experience that demonstrated confidence in both kitchen and service.

One of the best 🌟 We stumbled upon Calheta Green while staying in Calheta and it turned out to be one of our favourites. The restaurant sits up in the hills with beautiful views of the sea and countryside with lovely green surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. The food was fantastic! During our three visits, we had tried different dishes and all of them turned out to be excellent. From beef and chicken skewers, risotto and pork ribs, accompanied by different side dishes - everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavours. Thank you to all the staff members for making our visit so memorable 😊

Delicious Beef Espetada (regional). It is a small set up, but they were very accommodating and were able to seat me as soon as a table became avaiable. Skewers is 400/450g of beef with a nice little flavour fat on each piece. I ordered spinach (needed frying not boiling, for flavour) and chips. It was a good meal, filling and tasty - nice garlic and salt rub on the meat. If possible make a reservation. Would deffo reccomend and can agree with the high reviews. 90% people had the Espetada. Windy roads upto to the resturant but nothing too challenging. Deffo reccomend

This was the first place we came to after arriving to Madeira and we thought that this is the food and service you can expect in every place 😅 It’s not the case, though, so we highly recommend trying the skewers at Calheta Green – the meat is very juicy! I also loved the bread and fries :)

what an experience! All the food was just fantastic. Pork ribs 5/5, salmon risotto 5/5, bruschetta with mushrooms and salmon 3/5. Service outstanding, view also. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place up in the hills just outside of Calheta, with a great view looking down the valley. Fantastic food, wonderful steaks and traditional meat cooked over a hot grill, with really good portion sizes. Very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you’re a meat lover!

The chicken risotto was excellent, we’ve already been here 3 times while on our vacation. Last time we also had tiramisu with sugarcane honey biscuit which tasted amazing as well. Can only recommend.

Honestly, the price is worth it! It’s the best restaurant of my two weeks in madeira! A hidden gem that we found after hiking 🥰 We reserved a table of 10. The food was excquisite (image), more than satisfied! The atmosphere 🔛🔝 and the service was impeccable, always checked on us, super friendly, chatty and humorous 😆. After paying and wanting to leave they even gave us liquor and it was good 😊. This restaurant i won’t forget, the smell of the eucalyptus trees that surrounded the terrace of the restaurant. Amazing. Truly recommend this restaurant if you ever visit the island. One thing I almost forgot is the posters in the restroom 😆😆 (image). I thank all the employees! Thank you so much for this wonderful evening. ☺️ I wish you all the good luck for the future.
