Caliope Steakhouse

Group of eleven dined at Caliope Steakhouse inside the Sortis Hotel. Made reservations for 11 and was seated promptly. Restaurant is clean and hostess was friendly. The ceviche, and gnocchi appetizers were outstanding. Most of us had steak cuts of filet, strip, and ribeyes. They were prepared to order and tasty, however meat was a bit tough and not prime. Table service was a bit slow and we had to ask for bill a couple times. Background DJ music was thumping and too loud to have table conversation.

I was very excited to go here after reading the reviews but sadly the cooking missed the mark. Loved the service and decor but the steak was cooked incorrectly (medium rare/rare vs medium). Appetizers was on point and delicious. Loved the Spanish wine selection and the Manager reduced the overall price a bit but that doesn’t help with the fact the evening was ruined. Sadly will not be going back 🥲

Good food, atmosphere, service and drinks. My wife really liked the grilled salmon, and I liked my NY Strip Steak. The lamb samosas were small but had a lot of flavor. The truffle gnocchi was pretty good. They served a small sorbet scoop before the main courses to cleanse the palette. All in all, it was a nice dinner.

Overall, this is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The steak was so good, I went back the next day for it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Caliope restaurant in Panama, and it was truly a memorable experience. The restaurant exudes an elegant yet relaxed ambiance, making it the perfect setting for a special meal. I started my meal with the Bel Giardino salad, which was a delightful combination of fresh greens, vegetables, and a tangy vinaigrette. The flavors were bright and vibrant, setting the stage for the rest of the meal. For my main course, I couldn't resist trying the Beef Wellington. It was a showstopper dish, with perfectly cooked beef tenderloin wrapped in flaky puff pastry and served with a rich mushroom duxelles. The dish was incredibly flavorful and decadent, a true indulgence for any meat lover. I also had the pleasure of trying the pork marrow, which was a unique and delicious dish. It was not much marrow but the meat was coming off the bones. It was a perfect balance of flavors and textures, and I savored every bite. Overall, my experience at Caliope restaurant was outstanding. The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was elegant yet inviting. I highly recommend trying the Bel Giardino salad, Beef Wellington, and pork marrow - you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to return to Caliope and explore more of their menu.

Everything was excellent. The food was perfect with little unexpected treats in between our orders. The service from our waiter Paola was the best you can get!

I was looking for the perfect restaurant for our first time in Panama and boy did we find it! This place is OUTSTANDING! Not a single bad thing to say. Not only did they give us many complimentary things, like a mini pumpkin soup, a tomato pallet cleanser and a eggplant spread with bread but the rest of the food and the service was amazing… Alanis was an excellent server, she was quick and friendly. We’re only in Panama for 2 days and we’ll probably be coming back before we leave!

We went on a Saturday night with my mom to try a new place that my mom haven’t went before so we decided to go Caliope. We ordered Angus beef skewers, beef Wellington, Angus Piacanha and Hanger steak. First thing that they brought to the table was this cup with yellow soup, it was pretty disgusting and couldn’t even finish it. Next thing that they brought was eggplant with bread, pretty interesting combination but it was pretty good overall. Next, was the Angus beef skewers which only contained 3 skewers which was not enough since it was 4 people, the taste was ok and the presentation was over the top with unnecessary smoke and it cost 12$ meaning each skewers cost 4$. We also ordered fried dumplings with beef inside and it tasted ok and pretty overpriced. Right before they bring the steak out, they brought out a tomato paste that was sweet and sour to cleanse your palate before eating steaks. We started off with the Beef Wellington, the bread was pretty oily and soggy which which wasn’t good at all. Furthermore, the Angus Piacanha was rare inside which couldn’t be eaten at all. The only steak that was good was the Hanger steak. Overall, the staff is ok, when I asked for the wifi, they said that they will give it to me but never gave it to me, I needed the wifi to see the menu but at the end I told my brother to order for me. I’m very disappointed with the staff and they take forever to refill water, they are not that alert with the tables. The food is ok but very overpriced.
