Calistoga Ranch (Napa / Sonoma Valleys, California) 11 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Calistoga Ranch might sound like a rustic old cattlemen’s hideout, and given its location in the upper Napa valley one could mistake it for a nature commune, or some kind of eco-retreat. In fact it’s a modern and highly polished luxury resort, easily on a par with the world’s finest rural getaways." - Tablet Hotels

Google
A great place to stop for amaizing coffee and quiche. Also, the blueberry and raspberry and almond scones are delicious. Great atmosphere and service. Come enjoy and you can thank me later.

Google
This is one of the worst cappuccinos I've had. They have no roaster, so don't let the name confuse you. They make cappuccinos like when you might get in Nebraska. My cappuccino had twice as much foam as you would get in a normal latte. And it's the foamiest foam. I had to dump 3/4 of it out onto the plate to try to simulate a normal cappuccino. Espresso itself is poor quality and over very roasted/burned.

This place is such a cozy delight!! The older British gentleman who took our order was so friendly. Great matcha latte and my husband enjoyed his cold brew. Breakfast sandwiches were great, loved the bread! The ambience inside is the best part, it’s big enough where you can find a seat but it felt so cozy. I would definitely return!!

Google
We had the blueberry cream cheese scone, and it was exactly what you'd expect (in a good way). The texture was really great, and the taste was not too overwhelmingly sweet for having blueberry and cream cheese. The coffees were really strong, but the taste was good (and not overroasted). Definitely recommend going to this spot!

We had a nice BLT. Bacon toasted well. Coffee was a bit too milky for me

Google
Spacious roastery with indoor and outdoor seating that serves coffee, pastries, and sandwiches. Food: The breakfast sandwich was tasty and normal size. The iced latte was decent. Maybe their regular coffee is a better choice based on other reviews. Atmosphere: There is spacious indoor seating and a few tables outside. Price: Fair price for the food and drinks. They aren’t expensive. Parking: Street parking is available in front of the restaurant and along the store fronts.

Google
Where the local goes. Can get unlimited refills for coffee for $3.50. Medium and dark roast available (but the medium was better). They offer breakfast sandwiches, BLT and bagels. The bagels came with a huge portion of cream cheese. Scones were tasty. The owner was friendly and recognized me every time. There may be a line but the service was fast.

Google
This place was so good that we had to go back twice in a day. We had just a regular coffee and it was the perfect cup. We went back for a scone and they were so good, especially the cherry. Everyone there was friendly, even funny early in the morning. Seems like they knew all of the customers coming in and treated us the same. Definitely put this on my list of places to return to!

Yelp
This is the place to get morning breakfast and great coffee. If people get in line that means it's worth it. Decorations and pictures on the walls makes this place interesting . Staff and service

Yelp
We stopped in on a random Thursday while driving to Clearlake. Got a medium Americano. I think they forgot a shot? Otherwise, it was just really bland. We drank it black too. Still, friendly staff and patrons. Lots of seating and a big menu.

Yelp
Calistoga Roastery is the neighborhood coffee spot in Downtown Calistoga. They have a wide variety of coffee flavors as well as bagels, breakfast sandwiches, teas, baked goods, and more. We got there right before a big rush of people came in. Either way, staff was hustling to turn drinks and food orders quick. I got a 16oz Hot Lavender Latte and my husband got a 16oz Chai Latte. Both were good but could have had a better flavor punch. The coffee was also rather milky. For food, I got a simple Cinnamon Raisin bagel which was good and my husband got a Lox Bagel which he thoroughly enjoyed!

Yelp
Love a good local coffee shop and this place hit all of the must-haves - super friendly baristas, a good breakfast menu, and an unsweetened matcha. My jalapeño cheese bagel came with tomatoes, egg, red onions, and avocado and was PERFECTION! They have a few tables outside and a lot of tables inside. They also sell local coffee and cute mugs, etc to take home.

Yelp
I'm so glad we decided to come here. We were greeted by a peppy man at the counter. Turned out he's the owner, Clive. He was hilarious. Every question I asked, he shot back with his British sarcasm. He had us in stitches. I had an oak milk latte that was fantastic. We tried the BLT, avocado toast, and bagel sandwich. All delicious. Wish we could take the place and its owner back to Walnut Creek. Such a gem!

Yelp
Super cute store with a decent selection of coffee and food. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good, the best part was the bread! The staff were really friendly while you ordered.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly service and good food and coffee. Owner is British with that classic British sarcasm.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee and the breakfast sandwich was phenomenal. I wish we had tried out more of their dishes, because the place smelled so good. The line moved swiftly and the staff was a delight. Full of good humor, they made our morning much better. I'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

Yelp
Enjoyed frequenting this shop when staying at Roman Hot Springs Resort down the street. The service was fantastic and quick and the drinks were strong enough to amp me up for the day. I tried both iced lattes and mochas and both were wonderful. Light and bright inside and there were many people working and many people relaxing on the amble seating arrangements.

Obie S.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast restaurant in Calistoga. Their original take on corn beef hash was remarkable. Service was impeccable.

Yelp
Yummy coffee and Italian sodas. Chill environment with books on the shelf, good music playing, and a friendly-family feel. Went here both mornings of my vacation in the area.

Yelp
Cool place ! Owner was really welcoming to us. Stopped by both mornings. Coffee was delish and breakfast food was easy.

Yelp
I came here recently and enjoyed their coffee. The venue is very nice and there are a lot of nice photos and art pieces. There were a lot of local people and I would recommend this place.

Yelp
Love this place for a quick bite of breakfast. Americano is decent. Breakfast sandwich is super yummy with avocado and wheat toast. It lasted a while too. Decorations are cute with a good sense of humor. My friend got a standard breakfast sandwich and it was good too. Food is ordered at the counter. Fast and friendly. Would love to come back again.

Yelp
So grateful for this cafe that opens early! It saved me with a tasty English muffin breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado, which satiated my hungry belly. Cheerful staff, cozy vibe, prompt service, with a menu fit for early birds in downtown Calistoga- perfect way to start off your morning!

Yelp
Homey Cafe that serves affordable coffee/teas and breakfast that sit in Calistoga. Their service was quick and friendly staff. I loved the decorations on the wall and there's a chalkboard for kids to doodle. I got their hot Chai Latte and it was great. It wasn't too heavy and I could taste the cinnamon.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee spot in Napa Valley. Coffee is good enough to satisfy even a coffee snob like me. When I ask for a dry cappuccino, I get a really dry one, not a coffee with milk and a bit of foam on the top. Service is quick even when busy. Like the breakfast avocado sandwich. I did not try any other food in there but it looks like a good selection. Bought their coffee for a home use, brewed in the Breville Espresso maker, even at a non-commercial machine espresso came out really tasty, what tells me that beans are roasted well. Friendly service, easy parking. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Good coffee in Calistoga! Flavor is fine and service is quick. Please enforce no dogs in the shop though.
google avatar

Phil N.

Yelp
This place is not a chain, it has some old school character. There is always a line but the service is quick along with the wit of the Brit owner who will have you smiling. Coffee, danish, bagels are all good but the experience is always great and a good value
google avatar

Charlie S.

Yelp
Great coffee, great value. Busy place, and no wonder. Espresso tastes darker roasted. I forgot to ask what origins and today in the espresso. I had a 2 about cortado, and my partner had a mocha. The cortado tasted like they used milk for a single shot. This is an observation, not a critique, as I also love espresso straight. It also have me a more clear taste of the espresso used. And too many ships add too much milk anyway. So the cortado was guys The mocha was also very good. We also had bagels, and the prices were great. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. If we come back to Calistoga, we'll be back

Yelp
One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had! I would recommend this place 12/10! Best service, cost ambiance, and an amazing place for families with plenty of space open early! Your trip won't be complete without a stop!

Yelp
I was really disappointed in the individual taking my order this morning. He made fun of the person I was with and while I suspect he thought he was being funny, it fell flat. You never know what other people are doing or dealing with-- and there's no need to make comments at the expense of customers. The food and drinks are usually good, but the counter exchange left a lot to be desired. There's plenty of choices in the region, so why go somewhere that's going to punk you when paying when plenty of places are more than happy to take your cash with grace. Before posting a review I tried calling to let the business know directly, but the phone number didn't work.

Tee N.

Yelp
This place can be VERY busy, but it's worth the wait. Food is good, great value, staff is friendly, and the regulars are a riot!
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Best coffee in Calistoga. They also make great breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and pastries. Not for the sugar-addicted corporate coffee people that think high fructose corn syrup with a touch of burnt bean flavor is coffee.
google avatar

Sheri A.

Yelp
The employees are fun, funny, and polite. They truly care about their customers. I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. I said no mayo, tomato, or onion, and the cashier said, "You mean the no fun sandwich?" I laughed. I really liked their oatmeal latte. It was extra hot! They have a great vibe with funny t-shirts & signs, and a big chalkboard to write on. A man fell over on his chair and the cashier came by to check that he was alright and said, "We're going to have to cut you off of your coffee" & then he said to us, "He's drunk." Of course he wasn't and we laughed. My husband helped the guy up and I'm glad he was okay.

Yelp
Calistoga is like a homey old town in Sonoma...just visited first time..strip of shops and eating venues...got a smoothie and some berries..sat around..hippies hahah

Yelp
Staff was great! The gentleman taking orders at the cash register was super nice - when a couple women who were probably foreign tourists (chatting next to me at the communal table in Spanish or Portugese?) missed the staff calling their number for pick up multiple times, he came round and found them - like he remembered "these ladies had this order number and aren't getting their food" Hot tea was good selection and high quality. Iced coffee was good. Scone was just ok. Breakfast sandwich (egg, bacon, cheese, mayo, no tomato or onion) was ok. Yogurt with fruit/granola looked good from what I saw on other people's tables. Would definitely come here again!

Danielle D.

Yelp
We discovered Calistoga Roastery in the morning as we wanted coffee and chai to start our day. We were welcomed by the owner, Clive, who was friendly and joking with us as we ordered our drinks, yogurt, fruit and granola. Clive was such a pleasure to talk with. Everyone there was friendly and cheerful, and the drinks and food were delicious! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming too.

Yelp
Horrible espresso/lattes. Way too milky with bland, flat flavor. Owner was incredibly rude when taking my order. I am a mother of a young child who needed some coffee to wake up this morning after a very sleepless night. I asked a few questions about the menu that apparently I should have read for myself in the print on the chalkboard. Instead of answering kindly, the owner just waved to the menu and asked me to read it again. Then, when I didn't order something exactly as written on the menu in the exact words typed, the owner prompted Me to re-order. When I said it the "correct" way, he responded, "there you go, use your words." I felt so incredibly belittled and diminished. I am extremely tired and had a rough night. A little kindness goes a long way. This owner did the opposite. Food was also pretty bland. Will not be visiting this shop again.

Yelp
3-27-22 I had this cafe bookmarked on Yelp. Got in line 5 minutes before the kitchen closed at 1 p.m. and the entire eatery closes at 2 p.m. Hubs saved the table while I ordered at the counter. Selected iced and frozen mocha drinks and lunch. I finished before hubs who leisurely likes to SLOWLY enjoy his coffee. Want to stay here or go look in some shops? He said he'd remain- oh yes! I could wander a bit and try to pick up some gifts without a shadow. By the time I returned hubs was sitting outside the cafe with the wines and chocolates we had purchased earlier that morning at Castello di Amorosa. It was a hot day and I didn't want the chocolates to melt. I wondered if he got kicked out but that wasn't the case. The place closes down by 2 p.m. and the doors were already locked.

Yelp
2 hairs in my food but the staff remade it quickly and the sandwich was good. Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** Staff was super friendly and efficient, including when I told them there were hairs in my food. **Decor & cleanliness, 2/5** Decor is cute and quirky, but not all staff wore masks and there were 2 hairs -- one in the middle of the sandwich and one on the melted cheese outside of the sandwich that I initially decided to ignore. **Price & portion, 5/5** Menu is limited but prices are reasonable for a small breakfast or brunch -- everything is under $10. **Presentation of the food, 4/5** Super simple and straightforward! **Taste of the food, 5/5** The meatless breakfast sandwich was great! Crispy bread, hot egg and melty cheese, and fresh with the tomatoes and onions. **Other notes** Lots of indoor seating and big drink menu. They also have unique sodas and kombucha in the fridge, as well as pastries such as croissants and quiche.

Yelp
Great quick breakfast spot. Breakfast sandwich is simple but really great flavor. Coffee is on the bolder, darker side
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast english muffin and egg sandwiches. Had multiple and reasonably priced too

Yelp
The cutest little coffee shop to visit if you are in the area! They offer your basic hot and cold coffee drinks, some amazing smoothies, and a variety of baked goods and breakfast sandwiches and bagels to choose from. Their sausage breakfast sandwich is probably one of the best I've ever had in my life! (You can also choose other meats or meatless too!) it comes fully loaded with tomato, egg, cheese, onions (the perfect addition imho), and Mayo. It literally is SO good I had to order it again the next day. I had their berry smoothie which is healthy and delicious, and my husband raved about their coffee! Will definitely be back when I'm back in town.

Yelp
I like supporting local businesses but this place is Mediocre. For the prices you'd think your food and coffee would be fresher. A couple of the staff members were rude as well. Atmosphere is nothing special. Go across the street to the other bakery
google avatar

Aliyah H.

Yelp
This place a a must stop for coffee, tea, and breakfast sandwiches or pastries! We just drove through town and came here for coffee and bagel breakfast sandwich - and boy, was that amazing. The almost milk latte was smooth, creamy, and the espresso was delicious. The bagels were fresh (from a local bakery I think) and the sandwich itself had great ingredients and flavor! They offer avocado in place of meat which is perfect. The guys in there are super friendly and the whole environment is cool, relaxed, and fun!
google avatar

Maisie W.

Yelp
This is THE coffee spot in town. The decor of the place is pretty neat. Breakfast sandwich is bomb as well.

Jonah P.

Yelp
Best Coffee in Napa Valley, one of the few businesses in Calistoga that still caters to locals yet provides a welcoming atmosphere to visitors from all around. Highly recommend the chocolate chip cookies to go along with your drinks! Ice cream Mocha is also an excellent treat in the warmer months. Very spacious and fun place to enjoy a quick cup or a long visit with an old friend. Calistoga Roastery, forever!
google avatar

Chris N.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite during our anniversary weekend in Calistoga. The ice cream latte was extremely good. Ice cream made it smooth and creamy but didn't overwhelm the strong coffee presence in the drink. In the mornings, I need my coffee fix and this drink did the job. The breakfast sandwich here was not the sandwich you would get at your average Panera Bread. The English muffin was definitely fresh baked and the ingredients were organic. Price a little more on the high end but for this quality I would pay it. Many breakfast choices here in Calistoga but if you need a quick bite I would recommend this place.

Yelp
My grandpa had a wonderful saying "If I rest, I rust"... he lived to be 96. Plenty of time to sleep when we are 6 feet under. Love this place. Coffee is coffee, but service is what makes a place great. It sets the mood for the atmosphere. Family run place is what I'd call this place, because that's what it feels like. Good energy and vibes abound.
google avatar

Annie K.

Yelp
This is the main coffee shop in Calistoga and pretty busy during Sunday morning! I ordered a breakfast avocado sandwich and an almondmilk latte. We waited inside and a few people at the tables don't have masks. My avocado sandwich didnt look very appetizing bc the avocado spread was a bit brown and there was a white hair in mine :( The almondmilk latte was fine. I may or may not be back depending since i do plan to be back in Calistoga and this may be the only coffee shop.
google avatar

Demelza P.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place. Friendly staff and the ambience is very charming. The scones are otherworldly! I usually get a Blueberry Cream Cheese, but there are "guest flavors" that will blow your socks off! Citrus Cream Cheese, Chocolate Cranberry, and Cranberry Lemon. I had an Apple Cranberry Pecan once and it was Heavenly. I have seen it just that one time. Hopefully they will have it for the fall and winter

Eric C.

Yelp
Average coffee shop, decent for the area. Slow service and appearance of a store that was built years ago without upgrades in many years
google avatar

Norm C.

Yelp
I was hanging out in Calistoga and wanted some coffee and quick breakfast that was delicious. I took a chance on the breakfast sandwich, if you're not sure what to expect it's way better than your regular McDonald's McMuffin Sandwiches. I got the bacon breakfast sandwich, we'll toasted and nice and cheesy the way I liked. It includes egg, tomatoes, and some raw onions. Tasty! The nice young man behind the prep counter did good. I also ordered a cappuccino also good too! The girl behind the counter, I think I heard Emily was friendly as well. The staff seemed cheerful, seemed take pride in working there. I ended being a big eater going for some Yogurt with fruit too. It was a good size and decent amount of fruit(blue berry, raspberry, blackberry) I felt for the price and location it was good. The cafe was spacious and very clean. You can buy coffee beans there also if you liked what you had! They close early on weekdays as business is slow, when I asked.....So you guys should support them!! If you're looking for nice spot for a cup of Joe or a little breakfast in Calistoga that doesn't break the bank for nice sit down spot, I rec you drop by.

Yelp
In 2014 I lost my business in Napa to an earthquake and other issues and found myself rebuilding my entire life in Calistoga. I spent every single morning at the Calistoga Roastery starting my day with a regular coffee and bagel and cream cheese with sliced onions on top. I will never forget Clive'a warm smile and how he made everything seem better with his great coffee and hospitality. This is a wonderful place. A place to call home.

Marty J.

Yelp
Great coffees with excellent service and very friendly staff. Nice vibe. Plenty of seating.
google avatar

Arlene B.

Yelp
The coffee and food selection is fantastic. My coffee was delicious. My friend enjoyed her breakfast and coffee too. The staff are friendly, informative, and efficient. The ambiance is awesome with an old wild west look with unique decorations. I highly recommend you visit this Roastery when in Calistoga.
google avatar

Stephen D.

Yelp
The food is made fresh, the service is quick and very pleasant. The ambiance is modern sparse but nicely done. Plenty of seating inside, no seating outside. I got the fresh made bacon & Asiago quiche and it was wonderful.

Tony A.

Yelp
Nice center of town location. Typical coffee house foods and vibe. That's all fine and good, but when I go to a local privately owned coffee shop in the Napa Valley I expect a damn good cup. This is a pump your own coffee from a big thermos venue. The dark roast I was pumping was so weak it came out looking like a cup of tea, weak tea, at that. I asked the person working the counter if perhaps someone made a mistake and he condescendingly made it very clear that that's how it was supposed to be. "we don't serve that dark, inky stuff like Peet's" -- I won't be back.
