The city built during the 17 and 18 hundreds has its own version of Romero and Juliet. This is were the lovers were able to kiss across the alley because their balconies almost touched. It a must see but slightly over rated.

Great place, to many tourists! Lots a walking bring your good legs and comfy shoes. If you have bad hips and knees, definitely this is not the place for you.

Good story (legend). Too crowded on a Sunday. Over 30 couples waiting. Came back on Tuesday and there was no wait. Make sure to take a pic standing on the third step up kissing. Otherwise it’s bad luck. :)

We had a great experience here. Do some homework first and you'll enjoy the experience. Knowing the legend beforehand we and having seen pics we just wanted a photo but over the festival weekend it had hundreds of people in line. We asked before and were told it was mxn $50 to get on the balcony. We deduced immediately this would be mxn $50 each since we would each go to separate balconies. The guy telling the legend and taking pictures with your phone/camera does it for tips and he does it well and takes many great pictures. The fun for us was in the crowd, both watching them as well as having them cheer as we kissed and cheering as they kiss. It was really a great festive environment. If crowded or on the weekends they open the balcony at noon. Just show up a few minutes early and you shouldn't have to wait. It's likely not crowded during the week or when large events aren't going on.

It always amuse me with the amount of turist that comes here. The place is awesome. The architecture and how this little town was built in like a mountain. The tunnels to take you from place to place are also cool. This callejón del beso is a truly meaningful place. The Mexican Romeo and Juliette! That is how I always remember it. Might not even be close to it, but for me, it is!

Yelp
The Love story!!! Romeo and Juliet ;) El callejón del Beso is a must when you go to GTO. Your cell phone pic and angle might not get the perfect shot. But they offer to do it for you with a small fee. They print it for you on the spot and you get to choose a frame too. Stop by!

Yelp
The whole city lights up at night if your here on the weekend, the story is simple but romantic at least that's what my wife thought lol nonetheless is worth the cute picture. So line up no need to pay the people to tell you the story you can here it for free if your close enough to the crowd

Yelp
A tragic story is the basis of this tourist attraction. The two balconies are so close that two lovers were able to get close enough to kiss. The lovers however were not to be, probably a Romeo and Juliet type of deal. Legend has it that the girl was killed on the spot by her angry father when the two lovers were discovered-- another example of toxic masculinity. Now, it's a cute place to get your smooch on with your significant other, or whomever you want. Of course I photographed for other couples since I'm the designated single friend. This alleyway is part of the tour of singing college student musicians that is most definitely catered towards romantic lovers, hence this alleyway being the final stop of the tour. Fun tip: before the rest of the people head over as part of the tour, you should head over here earlier to avoid the long line and rowdy commotion if you're anything like me. You get the opportunity to take your photos without feeling a time pressure or the social pressure of having several pairs of eyes watching you kiss your loved one.

Yelp
This is a thing that you have to do when you're in GTO, so definitely stop by and do it. Just be prepared for all the tour groups. Takes away from the romance of it all when 30 people are watching you on the stairs...

Yelp
I had read about this historic part of Guanajuato and to fully enjoy it you must have a sense of romance and tradition in your soul. Apparently, so many other tourists did! The "callejón" was packed and the energy in the crowd was positive as we were all caught up in the moment. It's a tiny alley marked with the names of hundreds of couples as well as padlocks on the bars of windows signifying another type of tradition. It was like visiting a wishing well. You have to have that type of whimsy to enjoy this experience. Otherwise, you might be disappointed. Enjoy a glass of wine at one of the local bars with someone you love be it friend, family or significant other.

Yelp
When in Guanajuato you have to visit Callejon del Beso. Definitely has its very interesting history of two lovers that were not to be together. There are guides there that you can tip and they will give you the history. Luckily when my family and I visited it wasn't during busy times so we didn't have to wait in line. There is usually a photographer there that will take your photo and will print in minutes for a charge of around 80 pesos. You have the option of taking it at the bottom or to go up on each balcony and reach in for a kiss. My hubby and I decided to go up on the balconies and pay the small extra fee. I'm glad we did because it made for an awesome photo!

Yelp
And experience of its kind when visiting Guanajuato. The city is very much alive at night as it is during the day. The "Callejonadas" lead by the university of Guanajuato students are highly recommend. With a minor fee you can join the walking crusade group throughout certain areas of the city. A festive music and dance and legend story telling of the city's tenants who once habitante this beautiful city where love stories were written and now narrated to portray its rich and humble culture that now thrives.

Yelp
It's cute and romantic. A must stop when you're visiting this beautiful city. It gets crowded and the alley way is extremely narrow but totally worth it! We didn't get lured into the house and up to the balcony but I'm sure its enjoyable. Theres an iron window gate where people put their "love locks", so if you don't have one, you can purchase it from a vendor there. Don't forget to get your photo op on the 3rd step with your SO! :)

Yelp
The history behind the callejon is sad and romantic. Tons of tourists line up to take a picture here and there are tons of vendors and guides selling stuff too. It's a bit of a tourist trap for sure but worth stopping to see. I didn't wait in the huge line and definitely didn't feel like I missed out on anything by not doing so.

Yelp
Best time visit early July for all Guanajuato's activities the tourist are not fully there yet. For El callejón min. To visit it walking with the callejonada (group of people with instruments singing and walking)
