A lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Brilliant value for money. Spotless rooms on a large scale. The menu and standard / presentation of food is now excellent. The dinner menu is particularly pleasing and breakfast is good. Tea / coffee and toast used to be served at your table at breakfast - sadly you have to queue up and make it yourself these days! It would be brilliant if they could rethink this aspect. We have stayed here many times and will continue to do so. I recommend this hotel to others.

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Cally Palace Hotel. We arrived about 2.30 and decided to get some food, however we were told by the bar staff that food wasn't available as they had stopped serving lunch. We ordered 2 teas and drank them in the Conservatory, after about 20 mins a member of staff kindly brought us a dish of nuts and offered to try a get us a scone or some sandwiches, we declined as there were wasps flying about! Windowsills were dirty and generally there was a feeling of decay about the Conservatory. On the bright side our bedroom was big with a large bathroom containing a bath and shower and nice products. The room was advertised as traditional however it was really just old fashioned. The beds were clean and comfortable. We didn't mind there wasn't daily housekeeping as there were plenty of towels and a well-stocked hospitality tray. Food on the whole was good both evening meal and breakfast. Lovey setting and lots of walks, It would be helpful if some signage could be organised showing the different pathways to Gatehouse of Fleet. Our highlight was seeing hundreds of stars over the golf course, which was the reason we booked this hotel as it is situated in Cally Woods. ||There is so much potential for this hotel to be a great 4 star, but would need investment. It just feels so unloved and uncared for as most of the windows appear to be rotting away. In our opinion it's not 4 star. I do think that it will appeal to an older clientele.

We stayed here for 4 nights using it as a base to have daily excursions into Scotland. We really enjoyed our stay. The reason for the 3 stars for the rooms and 4 stars overall is for the place being a little tired. It was renovated quite a while back and it doesn’t seem to have received much TLC since then and daily upkeep seems to be a challenge. Basics like things like the shower operating correctly and wiping down the public area doors so they’re not covered in dirt where you push them. The overall feel of the place is that it’s been a while since the glory days. Other than that, the place is majestic, the staff are polite and competent, and it’s quiet and relaxing like expected. Unfortunately I can’t sign off with my signature comment and encourage you to go here if you haven’t been yet. But if you look for their web specials for about 100 to 125 sterling pounds a night, it’s not a bad deal.

We stayed here to break up our journey back to Preston, from the Scottish Highlands and we absolutely loved it from start to finish. ||The hotel, which looks like an old castle, is situated at the end of a long driveway through the woods and is surrounded by stunning grounds and a golf course. ||The interior of the hotel is what I would class as rustic, but I think if it was to be modernised, it would spoil this beautiful building. ||All the staff were excellent and made a fuss of our two year old daughter at meal times. We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the pool facilities. ||Food at our evening meal wasn’t anything to rave about, however was perfectly acceptable. ||I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this hotel again.

Probably the best place to stay if you are in the Gatehouse of Fleet. Beautiful large rooms in an historic part of Scotland, not to mention the scenery! You also have a swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi in the same building plus a full sized snooker table with a golf course if you fancy some fresh air.

Avoid if you can! I was so disappointed with this stay, as the pictures on their website are gorgeous! • None of the bedrooms have fire doors, and there is an inch gap below the door. • Very old bar of soap left in our shower (pictured). • Spa facilities were dirty. The floor around the pool was grubby, there was debris in the bottom of the pool, and the sauna was out of order, but we were never notified about this on arrival. • The balcony felt very loose and unsafe, and there was a LOT of spider webs and old dead bugs covering the corners of the balcony. • The food was abysmal. I am in NO way picky, but the 'triple cooked chips' were yellowy white and still a little frozen. The breakfast was on par with the dinner, rubbery eggs, and genuinely just not nice. • The chairs in the dining room were stained, whether this was with food or something else. Cally Palace is in a beautiful location and honestly, if this hotel was rated as a 2*, I wouldn't have been as disappointed as I was but to claim they're as highly rated as they are, I don't believe. Either they were, and they've completely fallen off, or this hotel has been left to deteriorate. I never usually write such negative reviews, but I don't want others to be as disappointed as we were.

Lovely hotel and the bedrooms were really big and spotless. Had one room with a bath in and another with shower and toilet off the bedroom area. Staff in dining room and bar very friendly and helpful . Reception staff didn't really have any conversation apart from telling you where your room was. Food was good but a bit on the expensive side as were the drinks. It's dog friendly which is good for those of us with dogs and they got plenty of attention from staff. There are plenty of areas to exercise them.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀||* We stayed here recently as a family. The rooms were great and huge.||* The hotel itself is rather grand, especially the entrance. It's a beautiful building with extensive, gorgeous grounds. The staff went above and beyond to welcome us and made our stay comfortable and enjoyable.||* The pool, hot tub, and sauna were lovely and the kids enjoyed it.|| * The beds were soft and felt like we were sleeping on a cloud.||* They have 1 free pool and snooker table which are both well looked after.||* There are some lovely sitting areas where you can have a drink or a bite to eat. Absolutely stunning.||𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀|* The hairdryer in our room looked like something from the 80s (it probably was). It worked for 30 seconds and then cut out. Tried it again and the same thing happened, so my wife went out with wet hair.||* There was another dryer/hoover type thing in the bathroom. That didn't work either.||* There was dog hair on our bed throws from previous family who stayed and it wasn't cleaned off. Thankfully, my wife isn't that allergic to pet fur, otherwise her skin would have been triggered and she'd be scratching away all night.||* The room opens up to the lovely grounds. There is some outdoor sitting, but unfortunately, they had a bird nesting in the ceiling and it's done it's business all over the sitting area and chairs so we couldn't sit out there as the kids played out. It looked like it had been there for quite some time as well.||* The changing rooms in the pool area were wet and I mean terribly wet. So much so, we just wrapped towels around ourselves and walked to our rooms to get showered and changed. There's a lot of water that gets pooled in there.||* The gym is tiny. I think it had a treadmill, a cycling machine and some weights. Not much else.||Though the rooms were cleaned, there are plenty of signs showing the hotels age. It might have been slightly modernised, but it needs a bit more money pumping in to sort out the finer details.||* Breakfast was good, but the bacon felt like they had been there a long time. They were rock hard. The scrambled eggs tasted like rubber. Better to just order some fresh fried or poached eggs.||𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆||I feel the one thing that saves the hotel here is definitely the staff. I would have given it an extra star if it wasn't for the bird poo, dog hair, pool area etc. It is a stunning place as I said and we'd definitely stay again. We just wish the little things were looked after better. We didn't have dinner here as we had made plans to dine out elsewhere.|The food look great otherwise. I think Bespoke Hotels need to pull their finger out and pump some money into this hotel to bring it up to spec. Other than that, I think it's worth checking out.|
