José Kilson from maintenance was incredibly kind and helpful, and the women in the kitchen—especially Rocío—were so sweet, ensuring my family and grandchild felt extremely special. Everyone treated me with such kindness that it felt like we were all family. I’d love to come back again! 😊☺️ Thank you for being such an amazing staff. -Porfiria Martinesky.

Stayed here for three nights in December 2022. Solo birthday trip. This hotel was not a planned part of my stay. The first hotel I booked wasn't fit for habitation. So I canceled that reservation, and was a bit worried of where I would stay for the duration of my trip. A local gentleman recommended Calypso, this would not be my first choice should I return to Boca Chica. The young lady at the front desk initially quoted $90/night, then $70. Given that I felt a bit desperate, and had no cellular service without wifi, I agreed. It wasn't until I'd settled in that I thought to check the price online. It was $40/night. There is "beach" in the name, but this is not a beach front property. The hotel is about half mile from the water. Half of a mile is nothing to walk, but it's atop a steep hill. Also, there's no beach, per se. There's water, but nowhere to set up a towel on the sand and lay. There's tables and chairs from the restaurants, then there's water. The dining area was dusty and the pool could have used a little scooping to remove the little bits of debris. My room had no surface area to lay things, just the bed and a mini fridge. A small table and chairs would have fit well, plus it would have given me a chair to put on the balcony. The area is not quiet. There is a corner/liquor store that plays music in the afternoons and evenings, then when they turn their music off, there's a nightclub across the street. I enjoyed it, but others may not. My room was a standard room (when I asked for a room facing the pool, she replied that was double the price.) Spacious. Tile floor. The property always appeared clean, and is designed well. The staff was friendly. The area is lively and fun. There is a grocery store within a mile, as well as several stores for souvenir shopping. Breakfast was included each morning. Freshly made when you arrived. I have included a view from my balcony, breakfast, and a photo in their dining area. Not bad.

I planed to stay with my Family for 1 day. Finally we extended for more days. The staf is really helpful. Helped to organize a trip to San Domingo. Rooms are clean, with Wifi. The kids really enjoyed the swimming pool. Near to the hotel is beach with no waves, ideal for small kids. On the room there is LCD with Netflix. We enjoyed Dominican breakfast and omelette . Some staff does not speak English, but has a big afford to help.

Iv been coming to the Calypso for about 5 years now and after reading the other reviews I decided to finally rate it. First of all this is not the United States and you can't compare the service here to anything their. The service is mediocre at best because everyone here is paid very little so a 100 peso tip goes a long way with the desk help. Remember 100 peso is only about $2.00us. For $50 bucks the rooms are decent NOT great and every room has different flaws. The nice thing is each room has a mini fridge great A/C and they serve a free breakfast that's not bad. The pool is always maintained properly which is a nice bonus if you have young children which I have two so that's a great plus. Also its about 4 blocks to the beach. I stayed at many different places in Boca Chica and for a $50 price range they are all about the same. All in all it's a typical 3 star with a bonus pool and free breakfast....Decent place if you have young children but don't expect the 4 season's.

The staff is nice and family who never saves on service. The hotel is close to the beach and important business. As a European, there are opportunities to improve the content of the breakfast. The pool is inviting with good light both in and over the water in the evenings. It is regularly cleaned which is why water has good quality.

Ok for the $50 a night price. A 1/3 mile walk to the beach. Pleasant service. I liked the fact you can charge the room to your credit card. I had a pleasant stay. Rooms were clean. Great air conditioning and ceiling fan.

I arrived for my 1st visit to Dominican Republic. I had booked a room at Be Live Hamaca Resort. I arrived there and it seemed like a panic day at the Hotel Rawanda!! I reviewed them already....!!!!! I did manage to get a referral to the Calyso Hotel. I arrived and everybody was friendly. I asked to see a room. It was clean and had hot water, TV,A/c, comfy bed and a refer. It is not 5 stars but I was happy. They helped me to my room with my luggage. I had been awake for 28 hours and just wanted to sleep. One of the employees later when i woke from my nap went and got me some beer and brought me in some wonderful seafood pasta. His name is Atilano. I only stayed one night before heading to Santo Domingo. I recommend for the price for sure.
