Cambiocavallo, Between Modica and Pozzallo, Sicily - Explore & Book

"Cambiocavallo – literally ‘change of horses’, a reference to its 18th-century beginnings as a post house – is a humble 20-room hotel, whose original limestone walls alternate with bold contemporary washes of lavender and raspberry. It lies on an agricultural plain in the deep south of Sicily, a fascinating zone of dramatic limestone gorges, magnificent Baroque towns and endless sandy beaches thrashed by breakers. Hot dry winds make Africa seem but a breath away, a feeling reinforced by cool minimalist rooms, shady bamboo-roofed terraces, geometric Arabian gardens and a stylish teardrop-shaped pool. The hotel is designed and owned by local architects and there are some exquisite decorative touches – a leaf of prickly pear in a cubic vase, a waist-high glass wedge full of almonds – that root the hotel firmly in its environment. Its charming staff have a genuine desire to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It would suit couples wanting a quiet retreat from which to explore the area, its fine restaurants and its beaches. Highs High-spec bedrooms with the comfiest pillows we've seen in Sicily Charming Italian, French and American staff, who do their job with the air of hosts Breakfast is brought to your terrace at no charge – a lovely start to the day Seasonal and local ingredients feature in the daily changing menu in the restaurant There are 2 Blue Flag beaches at Pozzallo, 5km from the hotel, with golden sands and clear seas (and some ugly development) Lows Dinner is only available Tuesday-Saturday, and you need to request this by breakfast time on the day You are not allowed to bring in food and drink from outside the hotel There can be smells of silage from the nearby fields" - Ros Belford

We had a wonderful stay at Cambiocavallo. The place is peaceful, tastefully designed, and surrounded by nature. What made the experience truly special was the rare hospitality — warm, genuine, and attentive in every way. The staff made us feel truly welcome, especially through the care they showed our child. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh local products, and we really appreciated the option to have lunch or dinner on-site. The personal touches, both at arrival and farewell, made our stay memorable. Highly recommended — we’re already looking forward to coming back.

This is our second stay at this hotel, and it certainly won't be our last. Everything is perfect, from the breakfast to the swimming pool, the cleanliness, the Internet connection and the friendliness of the owners and staff. I must also mention the beauty of the park with its beautiful plants. What more can we say? An unforgettable stay.

I spent a wonderfully relaxing weekend here, 2 nights of utter peace and quiet! The rooms are modern yet cozy and there are several toiletries that will make your stay extra comfortable. The bed is very comfortable and they provide extra pillows which I really appreciated. The panoramic windows make you feel like you’re staying in nature but I did appreciate the privacy blinds that also blocked out the light so that I could sleep in. There’s a fine dining restaurant on the site and I highly recommend making a reservation to dine there. It was excellent and I really appreciated not having to take the car anywhere. All in all, from the lovely and cozy room, magnificent nature site and excellent service, I will definitely come back and stay again! Highly recommend to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a little quiet time.

Beautiful hotel and grounds, great location in Sicilian countryside and great hospitality. Rooms beautiful with great shower and bathroom. Bed comfortable with good aircon. Location allowed us to explore Syracuse and surrounding areas easily. We didn’t eat at the on-site restaurant but drove into Pozzallo around 4km and found lots of nice restaurants. We only stayed for 2 nights as part of a 6 night tour of Sicily but this was by far the best hotel we stayed in. The only thing I would say is you definitely need a car to stay here as you are in the countryside. Staff couldn’t do much for us… they even arranged a take away breakfast for us as we had an early flight. Good gin and tonic too 😁

This small hotel really delivers. The accommodation is comfortable and there are lots of lovely extra touches that make it really special. Breakfast is lovely, there is lots of choice and everything is fresh and good quality. The staff are so lovely and really can’t do enough for you and are happy to help with any query.|The restaurant on site is lovely (if a bit pricey) but doesn’t have great choice if you are vegetarian.|There is nothing in walking distance so a car is needed. Would highly recommend this hotel - we had a wonderful stay.

The Hotel is simply a unique place to relax, surrounded by trees, a beautiful pool and spacious rooms and a feel of being at the garden of eden.||Breakfast is typical Sicilian, with homemade cakes and other delicacies. The staff are amazingly friendly, always smiling and very much helpful. With just 20 rooms this hotel gives you a very homey feel. A car is needed when staying here.||I truly cannot recommend this Hotel enough. Hats off to everyone and thank you for making our holiday so perfect.

We stayed 7 nights at the Cambiocavallo Resort close to Modica. This place is superb, beautifully located in the Unesco Area. Great location, 30-40 minutes drive to the charming towns of Scicly, Noto and Ragusa, with their unique Baroque art and architecture. Very close to the Sicilian coastline with pretty seaside villages and nicely secluded beaches. Beautifully designed, finished and spotless clean hotel rooms with idyllic pool area, good swimming pool. Lovely Italian breakfast with freshly made cakes and croissants, fresh fruit, Italian meats, cheeses. The staff is extremely friendly with great tips of the area. If you are visiting the Noto Valley in the south of Sicily, this place should be on your list.
