Cambrai Backpackers Hostel

This hostel is a very warm place, my partner and I had a warm welcome from the owners Bec and Adam. We stayed in one of their private rooms and we really enjoyed our journey there. Our bed was very comfy, toilets and showers are cleaned every day, such as the kitchen. The owners always make sure that everyone leave the facilities clean after using them. We had everything we needed and we thank them a lot for giving us the opportunity to stay at their place. We definitely recommend this hostel !!

True hospitality and generosity. Friendly, welcoming, clean, and beautiful atmosphere. I am beyond thankful that I was able to do my regional work at a dairy farm thanks to the job Bec and Adam found for me. After putting in some difficult hours of work, I slept deeply every night and sometimes in the mornings in a dark bedroom with my own private curtains. So many amenities included in your stay here. From free food to free bicycles, the ability to rent a car and live music in the garden. Not a detail went amiss. Whether I needed an extra pillow or advice and wisdom, I was always able to find it. It is a huge contrast to other "hostels" I have been to. This place is what every hostel should strive to be. I truly think it has to be the best hostel in Australia.

I had a wonderful time staying at Cambrai. Having found work for my 88 days, I decided to stay at the hostel in order to have a bit of a social life with fellow backpackers. I met some amazing friends here and I'm very grateful to Adam and Bec for the atmosphere they created - I always felt comfortable coming home and being able to talk about my day at work over a beer. They're always happy to listen to you and give you some advice, which makes the 88 days in the country a lot more fun and bearable. The hostel is kept very clean and has all the facilities you need. Adam and Bec are always going out of their way to accommodate any requests people might have (within reason of course). There's always someone to chat with but it's also easy to do your own thing unbothered if you're not in the mood for socializing. If you put in the effort to keep the place clean and are willing to connect with the people here, you're bound to have an unforgettable time during your 88 days at this hostel.

Thanks to Bec and Adam for having me back for another 4 month stint in Cambrai! I completed my 88 days there in 2023 and I just completed my 6 months last week. The hostel is so clean, good facilities and there’s a great atmosphere. Maffra is a lovely country town with plenty of amenities and good public transport for getting to Melbourne. Bec and Adam do all they can to ensure you have a pleasant stay and they will always look out for you

My partner and I recently stayed at the hostel and can't recommend it enough. Adam and Bec were amazing hosts and we made plenty of friends during our stay. We had a private room and the standard was way better then I was expecting. We had a job lined up straight away thanks to Bec & Adam which allowed us to finish our 88 days

Very nice place to stay for your regional work. The location is perfect, very close from many farms and in Maffra’s Main Street (literally next to Woolies and all the shops). The owners have done their best so that I have the best experience possible and to make me feel at home. I’ve met some very nice backpackers during my 2-month stay. The place is quite comfortable and offers several rooms to chill (couches, books, board games, TVs, Netflix…) which is super nice. The facilities could be modernized a bit so that they look cleaner but they actually clean them very often. It would be better if all the rooms had windows and if noise insulation was stronger as the place can be quite loud. The outside is huge and very nice to chill too.

By far the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. Adam and Bec are the most kind and generous hosts who made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived. They go above and beyond to create a sense of community, making me feel like part of their family rather than just another guest. They organize fantastic social events, dinners, and nights out that bring everyone together, making for a warm, friendly atmosphere. The effort you put in here is rewarded tenfold. I can't recommend this place enough to anyone looking for a backpackers hostel in the area!

Bec and Adam are incredible hosts, friendly and always super helpful!!! I stayed at the hostel for five months and couldn’t have asked for more. Great environment with great people. I will 100% be returning the next time I’m in Australia.
