Cambrai Backpackers Hostel

In short, a very good place to stay, extend my visa, and make friends. I arrived to only do my 6-months, but ended up staying for 1 year and 5 months, haha. Bec and Adam are very friendly and kind. They're always available if you need any help or just want to chat. I will definitely come back soon!!!

My girlfriend and I stayed at Cambrai Hostel for over three and a half months while completing our 88 days, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place. It’s such an inclusive and welcoming hostel where you instantly feel part of the community. The atmosphere is great, making it super easy to meet people and create friendships. Bec and Adam are incredibly helpful with anything you might need – whether it’s work, day-to-day things, or just general advice, they’re always there to support you. The hostel is clean, well-maintained, and really felt like a second home to us during our stay. We highly recommend Cambrai Hostel to anyone looking for a social, safe, and enjoyable place to stay while doing their farm work or just traveling through!

Had a great time completing my 88 days at Cambrai Hostel. Warm, local feeling in the hostel. Big indoors and outdoors communal area. Nice garden with heaters as well. Really scenic town and surrounding areas if you hike. Very easy to get to Melbourne if you want a weekend in the city. Overall a real community vibe led by owners Bec and Adam that made my 88 days fly by and memorable.

Feel like home!! I got many great friends and valuable moments from Cambrai. Bec and Adam were always so nice to me throughout my three months of staying here.

This hostel is a very warm place, my partner and I had a warm welcome from the owners Bec and Adam. We stayed in one of their private rooms and we really enjoyed our journey there. Our bed was very comfy, toilets and showers are cleaned every day, such as the kitchen. The owners always make sure that everyone leave the facilities clean after using them. We had everything we needed and we thank them a lot for giving us the opportunity to stay at their place. We definitely recommend this hostel !!

I had a wonderful time staying at Cambrai. Having found work for my 88 days, I decided to stay at the hostel in order to have a bit of a social life with fellow backpackers. I met some amazing friends here and I'm very grateful to Adam and Bec for the atmosphere they created - I always felt comfortable coming home and being able to talk about my day at work over a beer. They're always happy to listen to you and give you some advice, which makes the 88 days in the country a lot more fun and bearable. The hostel is kept very clean and has all the facilities you need. Adam and Bec are always going out of their way to accommodate any requests people might have (within reason of course). There's always someone to chat with but it's also easy to do your own thing unbothered if you're not in the mood for socializing. If you put in the effort to keep the place clean and are willing to connect with the people here, you're bound to have an unforgettable time during your 88 days at this hostel.

Thanks to Bec and Adam for having me back for another 4 month stint in Cambrai! I completed my 88 days there in 2023 and I just completed my 6 months last week. The hostel is so clean, good facilities and there’s a great atmosphere. Maffra is a lovely country town with plenty of amenities and good public transport for getting to Melbourne.
