We have read all the great reviews for Camino Real and were excited moving from California to get some "real" Mexican food. The first time we went was purely based on the glowing reviews; the second time we dared our selves to go because there is no way we could that disappointed with a place that many love and call "the best in the Boro".
Perhaps for disclosure, I should tell you that my wife and I have been eating "Mexican" food all our lives in California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico, and well... in Mexico. Why the the Dr. Evil air quotes around Mexican? The same reason I would put air quotes around "Authentic Mexican" - because if you actually go off the beaten path in Mexico and get "authentic" food, it is great, and not what you would expect if your frame of reference was Wednesday in the Cafeteria, airports, and Taco Night at your friend Stephanie's house (hey, no disrespect to Stephanie). So you get it- I have a beef when people use "authentic".
Now that we are past labels, I won't complain about the parking as others have mentioned. I also won't mention that the process of getting a table (even when it is not busy) is somewhere between the lifeless stare of a 30 year employee of the DMV to a hostage negotiation with a bad phone connection.
