Cons: -hot water was sparse during our stay, had to ask to turn it on then it stopped working -had to change rooms due to a party that was scheduled in front of our room until 1am outside. -room change made us lose wifi, took a day to get resolved. -room change didn't have a Nespresso machine, took a day to get resolved. -hotel only gives 2 Nespresso pods each day as complimentary, one of them was decaf. Had to explicitly ask for pods one day because staff forgot to refill. -rooms are severely outdated, there are doors that lead to adjacent rooms (like back in the 90s) and you can hear everything from the other rooms. The doors are not sealed-just locked. -everything in the room looks like its from the 90s. Management could care less to update things considering how much they're charging for daily rates. -theres barely any outlets. -the A/C makes a bunch of noise. -the beach front is unusable since it is considered open sea. We had to travel outside of the hotel to find beachfronts we could swim in. You're putting your life at serious risk if you try to use the beachfront at this property large waves and riptides. -the food at this hotel is super bland and expensive. I ordered a grilled fish with salsa, but got a bland fillet with fries. Waiter didn't mention that if you get fries it's a totally different item than the one I initially thought I would get. The service was also super slow, our waiter that was serving us at the restaurant was also the person that delivered ice to our room afterwards. This is probably because they're severely understaffed. -overall just bad hotel management. Not a 5 star experience, closer to 3 star in my eyes. Pros - the landscaping is beautiful and the property is well maintained on the exterior. - we had a pool in our room (extra) and enjoyed it the best we could. Although the tiling is poorly done for parts of the pool, that didn't bother us too much.

The worst experience I've had in a hotel. First, the value for money is nonexistent, you don't get anywhere near your money's worth. Buffet, lacks variety, the food is not refilled fast enough for you to have a proper sit down breakfast, when the food is refilled you already had bits and pieces of food... The staff in the front desk is not trained in hospitality, they can't care less about your experience. In the pool the towels are on high demand and you can be denied towels at different times, so there is no warranty you'll get a towel. The service by the pool, for drinks and food takes ages to come and take your order. Rooms are updated, showers show rusty parts, the cleaningness of the rooms is not the best, the hotel overall is updated not matching the price. The beach is good, pool is ok, location is good, but I wouldn't recommend it, if you can avoid it, do so.

Beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms. It's a shame that the food or service doesn't compare. Unless if you are an all inclusive guest you will be ignored. I stood at the pool bar for several minutes, was not acknowledged until I asked for a menu then stood for a few more minutes and as I was walking away I was asked if I needed something despite there being 3 people behind the bar. The food is subpar at best. We tried the grilled chicken, fish tacos, shrimp, tacos, pizza, chicken soup, mole and most of it was inedible. We are not picky eaters but the food was awful, we opted to go out to eat after the first day. Food and drink prices are very high if you are not all inclusive. Overall I would not book again, which is upsetting because this place is beautiful and has so much potential. Hopefully management sees this review and makes improvements.

This is the best hotel in Hualtuco. It has stunning views and a swimmable beach with clear, blue water. It’s generally quiet and the people are kind. ✨ I especially loved Luz and Alevino — they were very helpful! They put me in a room right on the beach, which was also close to the pool/bar/etc. They also provided me with early check in, late check out, and a coffee machine when requested. The bed is comfortable, and the room is clean. Listening to the sound of the waves crashing is priceless, and I loved my little balcony. The air is warm. It’s great. I also liked that they left chocolates on the bed, although they were a bit dry. I would give it 3.5-4 stars due to the following: 1. No shuttle service to/from the airport. Dishonest transport staff did not tell me about the collectivo transport at the airport when I asked about shared options. That is the most cost effective option. 2. Housekeeping is inconsistent. Each day there would be towels missing. Sometimes they would give me 2 bottles of water, sometimes 4 for the coffee. Sometimes they would give me new coffee and other times they wouldn’t. 3. Managing a towel card for the pool is kind of annoying to worry about. 4. I emailed beforehand to make sure they had robes and slippers and they said yes, but after asking over 5 times, I never received them, and then found out it’s not normal in Mexico and they’d need to get approval, but they never followed up. This was disappointing as I don’t like walking around barefoot indoors when housekeepers are walking in the room with shoes on, etc. I would have brought my own robe and slippers. 5. No ankle straps for the cable machines in the gym. No floor mats either. 6. People put their towels out to claim chairs on the beach early in the morning, but leave them empty. 7. Breakfast is not included, and the only option is a buffet that costs $30 USD. I do not eat a huge breakfast and can’t justify $30 for a couple eggs. 8. The dinner menu was not as advertised. Sometimes you needed a reservation. Sometimes I would call and they would tell me it was an Italian buffet that night… what? I ended up eating breakfast and dinner away from the hotel. As a small person, I wanted Mexican food as a la carte options, not Italian buffets. The inconsistencies were particularly annoying Christmas Eve when I found out last minute that you needed a reservation for the restaurant, and that room service ended early. I went to town but everything was booked up or closed. I almost went hungry. They should have had more options available or given me more of a heads up as I was out of the resort that day when they called to let me know. 9. I was thinking about inviting a friend. I found out there would be a substantial additional charge to have two guests in the room vs. one. Given how much the cost of the rooms are, I think this is crazy. 10. No traditional deadbolt on the door. I would have felt safer with a deadbolt and expected one. 11. The food I had for lunch was just okay. 12. No proper tour or map of the grounds — had to go searching for the store and ATM. 13. Have to ask for a coffee machine in your room and get it approved… weird These all in all were minor inconveniences, but I wouldn’t call it 5 stars for this reason. I will be back, but would hope for improvements, especially to housekeeping and robes/slippers.

We had a wonderful stay at the Camino Real Zaashila. The entire property is absolutely gorgeous from the lobby down to the beach. The pool, restaurants, bar areas and the grounds are beautiful with many plants and flowers. The groundskeepers do a super job maintaining it all. ||The staff was very pleasant all the time. They work hard and are very professional.||The rooms are large and clean and airy. They are a bit dated though and could use a refresh. But the towels were plush, the bed comfortable and the AC worked so no major complaints. The mini fridge was a great feature and our room had a nespresso machine as well. We loved having our own pool and spent time in it everyday. ||The main pool was not clean when we first arrived and throughout the next day but it did get a good cleaning on our second day. A plus is that there does not seem to be any chair saving by the pool or the beach. And the towels are the best!||We also spent time at the beach everyday. The ocean does have waves and is not very calm, I think the red flag was up every day but we felt safe in the water and enjoyed the waves. There was a lifeguard on duty all the time. It is a beautiful clean beach.||The hotel is quiet, and there was no entertainment. Perfect for us! We hope to be back!

Meals were poor and very expensive. Would not recommend all inclusive here. ||Maid service was just average. Found it very difficult to get clean towels and facecloths. Had to ask several times, several days and even after calling the front desk still didn’t get any! Not sure if it was the fault of the maid or if the hotel just didn’t have enough! ||The hotel is on a beautiful place on the beach, lovely view!

The Camino Real Zaashila is a lovely property tucked away on Tangolunda Bay and separated from other hotels on the other side of a small rock cliff. The beach is beautiful with swimming in the ocean being pleasant and comfortable on some days to not suggested on others. The gardens are very well tended to and everywhere you walk is really nice; this is a very pretty spot with birds, iguanas, etc abounding.|The accomodations are fair, at least my room was; I was given a quiet room (which I appreciated very much) on the top floor almost directly on the beach, and the view was absolutely stunning; so much so that I could almost forgive the inefficiencies; the air conditioner would give off a foul odour within a few minutes of turning it on, so I just made do with the ceiling fan after a bit which was fine (I did mention it at the front desk, nothing changed during my stay, but hopefully it will be taken care of in the future). Furniture, especially the chairs both on the balcony and in my room were extremely old and rusted out, but the bed was nice and comfy with nice linens. The bathroom was very functional with plenty of pressure in the shower; just wished they changed the towels more often.|There was a smart tv, but the remote was very old and didn’t match, so you could only maneuver through the channels, but not really use the other functions (I know, first world problems, but if you’re going to put a smart tv in the room, make sure the remote goes with it). There’s no coffee machine, but they will bring you one with nice mugs if you ask at the front desk (I brought my own coffee, so that worked out nicely for my mornings), housekeeping always left me with plenty of water after they kept my room nice and tidy.|Restaurant (breakfast and dinner) were at ‘Chez Binni’ and lunch at the Grill or some menu items could be ordered from the beach or poolside. You could also get room service (which I only did once, but it was prompt and good). Food was decent, I guess, with the breakfast being my favorite; hosted by Juanita who was the best of the best; she anticipated and attended to all I needed and/or wanted, even almost before I thought of it; a lovely person and an asset to this place for sure. The young lady that greeted in the restaurant was very sweet also but I didn’t quite catch her name. At dinner, Tomas and the other meseros were always very friendly and good to me, as were the bartenders in the lounge. The boutique and photo place tended vey well by Elias and Lydia was so enjoyable to go to because they were both so informative and knowledgeable; we had some great exchanges of stories. They have some beautiful Oaxacan items for gifts or for yourself. There’s a beautiful café that serves Starbucks coffee, if that’s your thing( but it’s not a Starbucks per se, so your rewards or gift card doesn’t work here). If I felt like a good cappuccino, I asked for one at breakfast or dinner at Chez Binnis’ and they were delicious. There’s a fairly new and decent gym, that was nice to have when I wanted a workout. Front desk people were helpful and always tried their best accomodate to your needs; kudos to them, as they had to deal with some pretty entitled guests at times. Most all of the staff everywhere was friendly and pleasant, especially once we got to know each other.| I had a very pleasant stay in a beautiful spot. Thank you and see you pronto!

Google
The resort is beautiful and the beach is amazing, with awesome waves and warm water. The rooms themselves were spacious. The resort had amenities like a great buffet breakfast (with lovely staff) and a gym that had most of the equipment you would need. However, the service of staff was underwhelming. We phoned multiple times for the AC to be turned on in the gym, only for it to never happen, or asked for more than two towels in a room meant for four - and didn't get any until we went and spoke with reception in person.

Yelp
Overall the place is old, the rooms are not kept up. The prices of the restaurant are absurd, you'll pay top dollar for an average meal as if you were in a five star hotel. The staff are nice and helpful but you can tell they're trying to stick it to the tourist, you'll pay three dollars for candy and 4 dollars for water . An average of 600 dlls per night, go somewhere else.

Yelp
Camino Real Zaashila is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places in Huatulco! My husband and I were looking for that perfect destination wedding location, and searched all over Mexico for it. We knew we wanted a beach, and that we wanted a city that was not too turisty....that's when I thought about Huatulco. I had come here as a child to a wedding in Camino Real, and I remember thinking "oh my God! Am I in Greece? is this Mexico?". The architecture at this hotel is so beautiful it makes you feel like you are at a beaches in the Mediterranean. Another great thing about Camino Real is that is not considered a resort, and they only have a few number of rooms available. I really like this because it gives it more of an intimate feeling and you can really get to know a few of the people who work at the hotel. The only bad thing about Camino Real is that their service is always not the fastest. At the end, we decided to get married here and we had the best time! All of our guests enjoyed the hotel and had a great time during their stayed here.

Yelp
Nice views, valet, restaurant and pool staff are amazing. BUT outdated rooms, worst room cleaning ever and reception staff not at all helpful. I'll use the other hotels next time. For the price paid ($4k) this should have been excellent. Family enjoyed the extra activities (extra payment) more than the activities offered by the hotel. The spa is not well located, the service is good but you receive a massage next to crying kids and kids pool. We paid a lot for the new years dinner and only the service was great BUT the food was cold, the musical group forgot the countdown for the new year and the music that they played was only cumbias. Not enough space in the beach for guests and security was super rude taking out your personal items if you didn't use your seats for more than one hour... again not at all excellent but really an average hotel very pricey.... we had a suite with 3 bathrooms and everyday we had to request towels, for 7 days we never had hand towels.... Not worth it for its views and service.

Yelp
If I had one perfect week it was the one that I spent here. What a beautiful place. A week in paradise with my beautiful wife to attend my daughter's wedding. The wedding was held right on the private beach and count have been any cooler. There are a lot of things I could say about our room's private pool, the cool iguanas, the beautiful sunsets, the great food or the taxis always available to take you where you want to go at a great rate but I'm not going to. I'm just going to post some pictures of the hotel ang things to do in Hualtuco instead, and let you picture yourself there.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible Christmas at the resort. While some of the room is a bit dated, the private pool in your room and resort as a whole is well worth it. This is not a huge party resort, but there's an active bar and pool scene. It is not an all-inclusive resort, but you can charge everything to your room if you choose. On Christmas Eve, there was a huge Christmas buffet in the evening with a variety of foods (it is a ticketed-only event). I highly recommend the breakfast buffet. Check out the beautiful rocks near the beach too!

Yelp
We showed up for a late dinner. Worst food we have had in years. Stale tostadas. Raw steak. Cold caldo. Hair in salad. Plastic Oaxaca cheese with some non crunchy grasshoppers. There is so much good food in this area. We ended up grabbing some some street tacos at La Esquinta. Do yourself a favor and bypass the Camino.

Yelp
In a relaxing atmosphere, this hotel is secluded from the others in the Bahia Tangolunda area. Peaceful and serene this is a great place to unwind with friends and family alike. Since the main pool closes at 8 pm I recommend getting the private pool for people who want to be in the water until late. Since the large pool gets direct sunlight you'll find it to be extremely warm, however some of the private pools are in shaded areas and therefore a little bit chilly. It usually cost around $3 per beer at any of the 3 bars and during parts of the day they have a 2 for 1 happy hour. This place is a little more classy than some of the other surrounding hotels so if you're looking for a Cancun type atmosphere with all inclusive drinks then this is NOT the place to be. However, if you're looking for more of a hotel that could be pulled straight from the pages of Conde Naste Traveler then this Mediterranean inspired resort will not disappoint. Along with turndown service, a minibar, security safes in the rooms, and full room service, many of the local tour guides that offer their services can be found on the beach advertising their services, but make sure to ask the staff to vouch for them before renting one of their bay tours since they are not part of the hotel but are independent operators.

Yelp
The place is nice but they rip you off with charges for things like drinking water (not a sip is complimentary), internet and an expensive menu for Ok food. I reserved and pre-paid through Expedia and was asked for the ages of my 2 kids (16 and 11). Both kids were considered by Expedia as that, Kids!!! Nevertheless, upon my arrival, the hotel clerk (and later on the general manager) told me my 16-year-old son had to pay an extra USD$50/nigth. I started an argumentation with both of them but they would not give me a room unless I paid in advance. I will NEVER again stay in a Camino Real hotel!

Yelp
When you get to the airport in Huatulco, MX there are other hotel providers that will offer you free tours and meal if you come and visit their hotel.

Yelp
We love this place! It's by far way prettier than the other resorts in town. We stayed in October which is a less busy month for the resorts but we love it. Felt like a proper getaway. They keep the resort very clean, the entire staff are very nice and the food is really good. It's not an all inclusive but the prices aren't too bad. I'd definitely come back

Yelp
This hotel/resort was exactly what we were looking for. My husband and I wanted to find a relaxing and secluded location in Mexico without the crowds and tourist prices. Not only did we find that- but we found a beautifully manicured, peaceful place to stay for our 9 day vacation. We were greeted with fresh watermelon juice upon arrival and driven to our room. We LOVED the staff (Juan at the bar, Huberto, Mauricio, and all the helpful people at the lobby and at information). Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The food is really good, especially their gigantic breakfast buffet. We went into town for most dinners, but the two restaurants at the resort were great. The rooms are clean and comfortable and they all seem to have beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and we are already planning on coming back in the future! Thank you CRZ!

Yelp
Be very careful about staying at this resort. Much of the amenities are filled with VERY expensive hidden fees. We paid $70 USD at the beginning of our stay to access the wifi in our room which was terrible connection to say the least (I ended up paying my phone company for more data instead). When it came to check out time they tried to charge an additional $100 USD on top of the $70 for the wifi use. This along with sending security to our room with no explanation, room service holding our debit cards hostage for hours, and a less than fresh breakfast buffet for $24 USD. We will never be staying at this or any of the Camino Real Resorts again. This is a shame as some of the service staff was very accommodating, I just feel bad for them that they work under such terrible management. Thank you to the staff who helped make our stay enjoyable (the only reason this review received two stars instead of one) and shame on those preying on tourists and unsuspecting travelers. These are the kind of experiences that can hurt the tourism of an area that very much needs it.
