"The stretch of U.S. Highway 26 between Portland and Cannon Beach is one of the most traveled thruways in Oregon, connecting the state’s largest city with one of its most picturesque beaches. If you find yourself making the drive, look out for the sprawling log cabin on the side of the road advertised by a rickety old water tower with the words “Camp 18 Restaurant.” This logging-themed diner and museum is a unique and beloved roadside stop. The rustic log cabin is made almost entirely out of wood, so much so that even the tables are made out of tree stumps. And by “wood” think: gigantic towering logs. There’s a huge 85-foot, 25-ton ridgepole in the main room—the largest in the U.S.—and the entrance doors are over 4 inches thick. The portions of comfort food served up are “logger-sized” too; the famous cinnamon roll weighs about 3 pounds.  Walking through the doors you’re welcomed by several hand-carved wooden statues, featuring dancing wooden bears, a man with an axe, and, of course, the legendary Sasquatch in all his hairy glory. Outside the restaurant’s doors lies a yard of preserved albeit rusted logging equipment, offering a glance into the history of one of Oregon’s defining industries.  Once you’ve finished your meal, behind the restaurant is a beautiful clear mountain stream with native crayfish and agates to discover." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Like lots of other people we've driven by this place dozens of times, but never had a reason to visit until today - and we were very pleasantly surprised! The building is a huge log cabin with great logging-related decor inside. The service was fast and super-friendly and the food was good too! There's also all sorts of interesting old logging equipment rusting outside, it would be fascinating for kids of the right age, although you aren't allowed to enter or climb on anything.

Beautiful place, a gigantic but cozy cabin, In general, everything around the cabin is a trip to the past. super nice staff! The food is absolutely amazing, everything we ordered was delicious, it was like cooked with your grandparents' recipe. Don't miss the cinnamon roll! totally worth it!.

Google
Overall, it was a good experience. It sounds like from other reviews that the food is really good. I will say that the size of the hamburgers is generous and the French fries were the best part of what we tried. I ordered the chicken avocado salad... I want to say that I liked it. It was not my favorite sadly. The chicken was cold, bland and dry and it was a very basic salad. Not worth the cost in my opinion. I imagine it being fairly authentic to a salad you might find in a logging camp though. The clam chowder was delicious. The atmosphere though is incredible! The rich history and all of the amazing decor is so cool. I would definitely visit again and try the breakfast menu. One of our favorite things about this place was walking around outside afterwards. Beautiful scenery, amazing curated pieces of the logging history.

Nice service ok food. Ordered the combo breakfast with sausage, eggs, potatoes & biscuit. The sausage links were well cooked, the eggs were cooked well. The potatoes were undercooked; got a few that were browned, but most were under cooked. The biscuit was good, a little dense, but not dry. The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is really cool; very log cabin themed. Lots of fun stuff to look at. Great views!

Warm, rustic and cozy atmosphere. Good country, comfort food. American menu. Over enjoyed both breakfast and lunch here. Bar upstairs after 11 AM

Google
5s across the board! This place is stunning. I had the best breakfast of my life here, their gravy puts all others to shame. Food was amazing, tons of friendly staff and servers and the atmosphere and aesthetic inside and outside is beautiful. After you eat, there is practically a museum worth of history around the property outside and there is tons of nature and wildlife in the creek. A must stop!

So I was at Camp18 for the Pacific Model Loggers Congress. Was there from 8:30a to 5pm. 1. Amazing cinnamon rolls, get everyone highly recommends and my son said there was no doubt. 2. The conference space is great for the group I was there for. We had vendor tables, presentation area, displays. 75-100 people would max fit for it. 3. Lunch. Wow, just wow. I had a rib eye and side salad. (I am a diabetic). And they did a great steak, cooked nicely and was able to extra veggies instead of carbs. 4. The building is amazing. The ridge beam is HUGE!!!! But lets be honest all of the old school, cool school logging equipment on the property is great. I think my son and I spent an hour just walking around looking at things. So much so we missed the closing of the giftshop. A kind request: for the conference area it would be nice to have access to Wi-Fi. Would have liked to post event images and comments. There is no Verizon Cell service there, so counldn't use that.

Was there with kids for lunch after some fun at the coast. Ordered razor clams, ribeye steak, and liver with onions. It was about 45 minutes before we got served. Must have been one of three busy afternoons for the restaurant. Razors and liver were good, but I can't say much about the steak, other than it was thin and dry and tasteless. One other peculiar thing is that with each entree autimatically came some pickled or steamed green bean mix. Normally I m not a huge fan, and on top of that hese seemed to come out of some dusty old jar. Perhaps this was what loggers traditional were served back then. Mashed potatoes - definitely didn't taste like they were freshly peeled,- probably some pre-fab mix. Food and service 3 stars. Atmosphere 4, due to entire experience. Perhaps will stop by for breakfast one of these days and see what that's like.

Yelp
Fun family tradition to stop on the way to the beach! Cool inside and outside for kids & the food is delicious. Love coming in!

Yelp
I was researching places to take my partner for his birthday and had seen a few posts on social media about Camp 18. It was definitely his kind of place and we were planning a trip to Seaside. GREAT decision! Atmosphere is 10 out of 10. Really fun and interesting, the building is beautiful, service was fantastic ... and the food! My partner had a steak that was VERY good. I'm from the south and have yet to find a good Country Fried Steak in Oregon yet, but theirs is really good. We had Marrionberry Cobbler which was also amazing. So glad we decided to give it a try. It will be a regular stop on our trips to the coast.

Debbie A.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch a couple of days ago on our way home from Seaside. We've eaten there a few times before, but I guess we forgot that it's nothing special. The food is average, the service is so-so, and they really could stand to update the menu. The restaurant is in need of a deep cleaning and a bit of 'freshening up'. It's a landmark for sure, but next time we drive by that way , we'll give it a pass.

Conor S.

Yelp
We stopped here and had the absolute best time. The service was kind and quick. I had a full pot of coffee to myself. The beautiful space has views of the river in some seats or you get to enjoy all the trappings of this rustic lodge like setting. The food is fairly priced and the portions are hearty. I saw three grown men leave with take home boxes. I ordered the biscuits and gravy- perhaps it could have used more seasoning but that's why they stock Tabasco.

Lea G.

Yelp
We stopped in here to grab breakfast. It's off the main area of downtown, and had good reviews. We walked in, and the place is really clean and bright. We were seated immediately. The server brought us some waters and took our order. The food came out really fast. it was tasty and plentiful. We got the mini appetite section D. It was a biscuit cut in half with plenty of gravy. Creamy white gravy that was really good. Egg cooked your choice. I got scrambled my daughter got fried. They were both perfectly cooked and good. I got two pieces of crispy bacon she got two sausages. They were both really good as well. This was $12 and it filled us up nicely. The service was really good and attentive. We would definitely come back here for more in seaside again. They had several specials one of them was razor clams. A local speciality.

Melissa P.

Yelp
Delicious and incredible old timber world ambiance. Those cinnamon rolls are huge and amazing!!!

Michael D.

Yelp
Awesome experience, lots of photo ops outside and inside, diverse menu and decor. Highlight recommend stopping here

Heidi B.

Yelp
So much to look at inside and out. Food was very good and lots of food. Friendly service. It was a little slow but they were short handed because of some employees calling out sick. And it was kind of cold inside the restaurant so you might want to bring a sweater with you.

Mira V.

Yelp
Good food, great location and awesome place to hang out with friends. Outdoor seating, view of the river just what you need to relax.

Peggy L.

Yelp
Really cute stop on the way to Seaside with my friend and the kiddo. There was a shortage of staff so we ordered to go - 2 clam chowders and some chicken wings. It took about 20 mins but I really enjoyed the food! Chowder was hot and hearty (more on the salty side but I prefer it that way) and the wings were freshly fried. I would recommend stopping by here for a light snack and walking around the grounds!

Connie A.

Yelp
Outside of this place, being a beautiful large log cabin with a river running behind it The food is mediocre and service isn't five-star either! It's pretty darn bad when you go and you are planted at a table for 20 minutes with only water & menu and you have to go find a waitress to serve you and it's a Wednesday at 1:00 pm and the place was hardly busy, just a handful of tables occupied. Food is slow coming whatever time you go! We have visited different hours. The potatoes are probably frozen and tasteless, we aren't fans. The bacon is fatty. They did the eggs OK and sourdough toast. The coffee creamers were curdled, leaving white chunks in my coffee, which was gross. The people that tend the gift shop are great, and always friendly and helpful!

Buzzy B.

Yelp
2nd time we stopped here on the way to the coast. The dining room is huge with lots of wood. I had the veggie omelet - veggies cooked perfectly. Came with 1/2 plate of hash browns that were pretty cold. Biscuit was big and had a great texture and flavor. Service is always fast and friendly!

Allen A.

Yelp
Amazing food and setting. An AMERICAN experience. Huge portions of well prepared authentic American classics.

John C.

Yelp
Good meal and nice portions. Glad we stopped here along the way. Lots of stuff to see here too.

Yolanda E.

Yelp
Nice rustic decor, plenty of tables and seating, good tasting food, large portions, reasonable prices, friendly and quick service.

Jeff P.

Yelp
Great spot near Canon Beach. Service was amazing. We stopped for a late lunch. Just wanted some drinks and snacks. Got the chowder by recommendation and it was great and that is from someone that grew up in New England. The Appetizer Platter had tons of zucchini, onion rings and Chicken sticks. BBQ dipping sauce and honey mustard were great. Cool ambiance and wonderful store. Overall highly recommend a stop here.

Ellen K.

Yelp
I love the homey atmosphere. Definitely very family friendly and great staff who make you feel welcomed. The Avocado Chicken Salad was huge! Generous amount of tender grilled chicken breast and practically a whole sliced avocado. The Hot Beef Sandwich was delicious! Very tender flavorful beef roast, wonderful gravy that tasted homemade (savory and not salty) piled on top of two thick slices of bread. Was supposed to include garlic mashed potatoes but I messed up when I ordered. Thinking that it came with fries, asked if I could have a salad instead. The waiter didn't question me about that, so didn't get the mashed potatoes which was why I ordered it in the first place. Stupid covid brain! BUT I didn't even realize my mistake until I was half way thru the sandwich! That's how good it was. I had also ordered the Marionberry Cobbler to go but he forgot that and I stupidly let it go. It's really delicious!!!

Mark T.

Yelp
On the suggestion of a friend, we came to see the old lumber mill machines, a museum of sorts and to have a bite to eat including their huge cinnamon roll. This review is about the restaurant. Beautiful building. The ambiance is very woodsman, with game and antlers throughout. A lot of wood sculptures. Beautiful lamps, large and small tables. Even a few around a fireplace. On our visit it was pretty empty. But I won't let that take away from the customer service. We were greeted immediately and offered a choice of tables. The menu was pretty simple and straight forward. The prices were similar to other restaurants like this that we've dined at. A little high but not outrageous. My partner ordered a the 1/3lb cheeseburger and I opted for the Foch and chips. I also tasted their white, sausage gravy that they put on their chicken fried steak. It was pretty good and I'm fairly certain I tasted chicken broth/bouillon in it. It made it slightly different than other typical recipes. It also was not loaded with black pepper, which is a smart move as you can always add pepper but you can't take it away. Even though it was tasty, as I said, I chose the fish and chips. We sampled each other's food and agree with the assessment here. The food is very good for "other than fresh" food. The cheeseburger was cooked to a perfect medium, American cheese, onion, lettuce tomato. The patty was the typical frozen patty but tasted fine. The other ingredients were fresh. We would order this again but it's not something special. The fish was beer battered, better than panko, cod. Four pieces, about 3-4 inches and thicker than most, maybe an inch. The fish was unremarkable. It was definitely frozen but did not taste bad in anyway. It just wasn't as good as I had hoped. The fries were delicious, hot and fresh. Perfectly cooked. Portions were good. Not huge but more than adequate. The cinnamon roll was delicious! And huge! We both took a couple of bites and brought it home. He cut it in 4 pieces and each enjoyed a piece. The roll is soft and doughy. Not in an undercooked way but just as a good roll should be. At first sight, I didn't feel there was much cinnamon but there was plenty in the roll itself. The glaze over the top was very good, not sickening sweet but sweet. And they top it all off with a ball of butter. Very good. This I would recommend. Our server was friendly and even laughed at my corny comments. She checked on us a couple of times. Not to much but we never felt like we were forgotten. The food was 3 star but the ambiance and service boosted it to 4 stars. I leave you with this thought... The next time we come in, I'd try some of their homemade dinners. Meatloaf, chicken fried steak... something that is likely prepared and cooked in house. I'm guessing they do a great job with those and I'd try their breakfast as well.

Lisa J.

Yelp
We had a great breakfast here and it was absolutely delicious. The service was good. We had not been here in several years and it really hasn't changed much. To the person who said that the chicken fried steak did not state it came with sausage gravy, it does note it right on the menu. if you look at the menu photos here on yelp, you will also see that it is pretty clear. Lol Anyway I would highly recommend this place to anyone stopping by. The only reason for four stars is that we waited a while for our order to be taken but they were busy. I would highly suggest it!

Alyssa D.

Yelp
I was very disappointed by pretty much everything at this restaurant. The French dip I ordered was not only a sad excuse for any meat sandwich, there was like no meat on it at all and it was $18. The coffee was burnt, and there was a dirty spoon in it. On top of this, the food made me super sick and the service was terrible.

Kailani S.

Yelp
Been here a handful of times. Each time we head to the coast, we stop here. Great food. Everything is amazing. The service is always top notch. The ambiance is lovely. The wood cabin feel is nice. They have a gift shop, and a walking trail with river you can go for a nice walk after you eat a great meal. Highly suggest you check them out! If I could give them 10 stars I would.

Darren O.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while, so decided to stop for dinner on the way to the beach. First- the prices have been raised probably because of inflation. Just an FYI. We started with a bowl of chowder. HUGE! Really good think clam chowder. Lots of clams and potatoes. Took home about half. The cod fish and chips was amazing. 4 huge pieces of Cod-great tarter sauce and fries. Surprisingly one if tge better fish and chips around here. My wife had a blt- liked it but regretted not adding cheese. The marion berry cobbler was so good. Had it before and our memory was accurate. Defense order it heated with ice cream. Good night except for the power going out.

Cal H.

Yelp
On the drive out to Cannon Beach we passed by this place and ended up turning around to check it out. Didn't have high hopes as many of the reviews seemed relatively mediocre but I thought the food was much better than expected. Atmosphere was A+ and what was initially the reason we were even interested in coming. Staff were friendly and food was good. -Lumber Jack Burger: 4/5, Patty was a bit a small but the flavor and toppings made up for it. Overall very good burger, also subbed my fries out for the clam chowder which was also very good. Overall we were happy with our experience and glad we decided to double back. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Eve S.

Yelp
I stumbled on this cozy log cabin style restaurant on the way back from visiting the Oregon coast. This place is HUGE and has an old-timey feel with carved wood statues and taxidermy decor. There are giant carved wood statues near the entrance and old logging equipment around the outside of the building. Did I mention that this place is HUGE? Plenty of seating for large groups or event gatherings. Like the rest of the state, staffing seemed limited but we didn't have to wait for a table. Everything looked clean and tidy. I ordered the Rainbow Trout for dinner and Strawberry Rhubarb cobbler ala mode for desert. Everything tasted fresh; fish had a nice crust, green beans were perfectly crunchy, but the strawberry rhubarb was PERFECTION. If you like American home style cooking or just delicious cobbler then definitely stop here to grab a bite!

Karin H.

Yelp
Think themed roadside diner with really big food and that is Camp 18. They are known for their ginormous cinnamon rolls and their cinnamon roll bread. We stopped for lunch on our way to the coast during the off-season and the place was pretty sleepy. We were told when seated that they only had one waitperson working (I think someone called in) so to be patient. They had two other people working who were filling waters and other general hostess duties that we weren't quite sure why one of them could take orders if they were in a pinch. We both ordered breakfast items Eggs Benedict and Biscuits and Gravy. They were okay and exactly on par with the 1960s roadside diner vibe. The people were nice, the food was okay and it was a nice point in our trip to stretch the legs.

Max H.

Yelp
Wow, this place has some great charm! The detail around this establishment just felt like I was in Oregon. Great and fun artwork! Now the food.... Wow wow wow! Our server, Jen, recommended the kielbasa skillet. It was awesome. The cinnamon roll as well was a home run! Definitely have to eat here if you're driving down to the beaches!

Brandi E.

Yelp
Location, building is amazing. The views of the water and trees is wonderful. Cute little gift shop. Like with anything the food was hit and miss for each of us. Trout breakfast and Razor clams breakfast was liked. Biscuits gravy great. Neither myself or my son liked the chicken fried steak or potatoes. The chicken fry was burned, its hand battered but burned and the potatoes are either sautéed or if requested crispy they just deep frying them. My husband didn't love his omelette so some things were great and some thinks not but the environment was lovely.

Vivian E.

Yelp
Drove 21/2 hours to be extremely disappointed. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my eggs were overcooked...like hard. The english mudfin was burnt. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger that literally had 1 piece of bacon and was flavorless and overcooked. I had water and brought my own flavoring and the waitress had a cow, wth. Left here severly disappointed and pissed.

Alex I.

Yelp
A lot of the reviews you'll read here rate everything including the food, increasing their scores. But when you check on reviews that solely review the food, it's not that great. In fact, the food there isn't even better than diner food. The French dip that my wife had got her so sick that she threw up what she ate in the restroom. While this was happening, none of the staff asked if she was fine, as I helped her hobble across the restaurant to the restroom. The ground sirloin I had tasted nothing, with only the greasy onions giving it flavor. I love greasy food, but when I have to season it myself, you know that the chef isn't tasting these. The fries were good though. The ambiance is tied to a logger narrative that is just ok. I've been in a lot of these types of places, and with a gift shop nearby, it feels like a tourist trap of sorts. Historical, sure. But there's other places in Oregon that tell this story better. Overall, I was really really looking forward to dining here. But the service and food isn't enough for me to become a regular patron.

Lisa R.

Yelp
Great family business with comfort food and a friendly atmosphere. I was a little surprised at the prices, but would still go back, if for nothing else that berry cobbler was outstanding!

Conrad B.

Yelp
The food was really good and the service was amazing they were really nice. It was kinda in the middle of nowhere but it's worth it

Lashonde B.

Yelp
This place has amazing food. We stopped in on our trip from Kansas City to Seaside Beach, and we were rather pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Our order was taken within a minute of being seated, and our food came out within ten minutes of ordering. We ordered hot chocolates, pancakes, cinnamon roll French toast, clam chowder as well as the razor clam breakfast. Everything we ordered was above expectations, and the serving sizes were very generous. We ended up happily taking plenty of leftovers for the road. Beautiful atmosphere and very attentive waitresses. We will be stopping in again on our next trip out this way!

Curtis H.

Yelp
I haven't been to Camp 18 in over 30 years, last time I was here Kyrstin was around 6 years old. The food was what I remembered except for the potato's...I guess you can't expect perfection. I got the combo monster stack, eggs sausage, bacon and potatoes. My wife loved her French Toast with Marrionberry syrup.

Rachel D.

Yelp
Please don't put raisins in cinnamon rolls everything about camp 18 is beautiful! Inside is gorgeous! All woodwork and fireplace. Surroundings are even more beautiful with trees and river in the back. It's a beautiful experience! Food is also really good! Have all the basics and they taste good

Shawn H.

Yelp
Awesome staff, service and food! Thank you all! Lot's of parking, gift shop and antique logging equipment outside.

Janice F.

Yelp
Fun place for a very filling breakfast! Great coffee too! Server was delightful and attentive.

Krissy H.

Yelp
Amazing looking place, food on the other hand has went way down hill I was not impressed, I had clam chowder, sister had a omelette and looked like froze potato's very boring omelette was very bwhat so ever the grounds are impressive food unimpressive

JK T.

Yelp
We were seated, no wait person recognized that we were there, then asked to move to a poorer location, and again, never served. We left after waiting 15 minutes. Insulting!

Shannon C.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant and location, set along a stream and in the woods. It was the perfect location for our outdoor family photos!! There's so much to explore and a very cute gift shop. They accommodated our Family Reunion (34 of us) in the gorgeous rustic, but elegant, dining room, with just one night's notice. Wow! Service was good and the servers were very patient with our group. The menu items were plentiful and the quality and taste of the meals were delicious! They even had liver and onions (one of the favorites of the elders in our group)! Hope to make it up to the Oregon Coast again and stop in soon!

Chris L.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and unfortunately need to downgrade my previous review. While the cinnamon remains the best in the land - huge, gooey, so tasty - the rest of the food was mediocre. Got the beef stew (not good at all - filled with a thickening agent and there was hardly any beef in it), the clam chowder in a bread bowl (just ok), and the cheeseburger + fries (good, but nothing to write home about). Daughter got the kids cheeseburger (it was pretty small) and son got the kids breakfast (he enjoyed it). Iced tea was lacking. And the waitress barely waited on us - after bringing us waters, she never refilled them the rest of the meal. The ambiance is so neat and this place has potential, but next time I'll only come for the cinnamon roll.

Kari J.

Yelp
I ordered food to go, maybe that's why it wasn't great? I called in the order, picked it up 10 minutes later, and I'm still confused how the fries were freezing cold, soggy and the tuna sandwich soaked. Plus Diet Pepsi? Just no. Even if they cooked it immediately when I called it in it couldn't have been like that, right? Will give them points though, for the fun ambiance and the quick service.

Cindy I.

Yelp
The staff is very hard working but it does seem they are understaffed. He staff is what helps them get to 3 stars. The food was barely passing in most areas. The omelette was over cooked my husband almost broke a tooth multiple times on hidden overcooked potatoes and the biscuit was very dry. The grilled chicken was basic but at least had a little seasoning. The best part of either of our meals was the fries. I do like double fried fries. We ate it because we had hiked in the morning and were starving, especially after waiting an hour. It took a really long time to take our order but again I think hat was lack of staff. Once we were helped they checked on us and refilled the water. I also was surprised with the state of the bathroom. I get it's been a long morning of people but if I looked past all the bits of paper everywhere the toilet didn't look clean in the back area that wouldn't just be dirty from a morning. I know it seems all have issues with staff right now but....

Robin B.

Yelp
The service was good. Though it was fairly busy, we were quickly seated and our server promptly took our order. Two of the four people in our party ordered the country fried steak. The servings were substantial. Both country fried steaks were well seasoned and enjoyable. The potatoes that accompanied one meal were well cooked, though the potatoes on the other plate were under-cooked and hard. Definitely inconsistent quality from plate to plate. My daughter's cinnamon roll was enormous...practically the size of her head. She described it as the "best ever". It was big enough that she will have leftovers for days. The ambiance was casual and lumberjack in style. There were some maintenance issues which took slightly away from the overall experience. In particular, the table was wobbly and the 2nd toilet in the ladies room was disconcertingly unstable. When we mentioned the latter to the server, the server noted that this had been an ongoing issue, having been repaired several times.

C B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, good comfort food. Lots of old logging things to walk around and see

Ken L.

Yelp
1st thing to clear up, if you are anywhere near Camp 18, you have to stop & eat here. You will not experience an ambiance like this anywhere else in the world. For the PNW (Pacific North West), it really showcases what the timber industry is to this region. The restaurant is great, visitor's store great, staff & service is great, food is great, so why the 3 stars? I have to put my foot down on one peculiar thing, when you serve breakfast, you should always have the option of getting hashbrowns with it, not sorry, no way, a full-on breakfast is not breakfast without hashbrowns, that is it. My ham & cheese omelette was fine, typically I like sourdough toast but the homemade & fresh biscuit was great, but the thing I hate is when restaurants think country fried potatoes are ok & refuse to have hashbrowns on the menu, so until they include hashbrowns, not sorry...

Yelp
Stopped on our way through Oregon. The food was superb. My husband had eggs Benedict and I have a waffle with eggs and bacon. Everything tasted great and the building - history and unique architecture - was an added plus!! My husband went downstairs to see the banquet room and was amazed by the woodworking.

Have a great lunch there. I have the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was delicious. Waitresses were very friendly. Restaurant was clean.
