"A weeklong sleepaway camp in southwestern Maine for LGBTQ+ adults. Unlike some other queer camping experiences, Camp Camp is not focused on booze, drugs, and hook-ups. Its mission is to provide queer adults with the traditional camp experience, complete with arts and crafts, talent shows, and singalongs, along with more grown-up activities like drag shows and a beer and wine bar."

Surely it can't be that good, you say. Surely other camps compare? It really is that good. Agawam is one of the last places on Earth where a genuinely good community exists. And it exists for the sole purpose of creating a whole summer world for boys to enjoy themselves, build friendships, and grow. It's owned & run by a bunch of its alumni who all treasure their memories of Agawam so highly that they regularly donate time out of their impressive lives to keep it going since 1919. The camp itself is a cycle, of boys guided and cared for by staff, becoming the next staff members themselves when they become young adults. That guidance and culture drove immense personal growth as a child and forged a path for my adult life for which I will always be deeply thankful. If you've never experienced any of that yourself and it all sounds alien, then it's still hard to argue with easily the best physical property of any camp of its type, some best-in-industry sports programs, nationally accredited safety, the most invested, dedicated staff you'll find anywhere, an immediately welcoming and positive culture, a stellar selection of activities for a boy to learn, outstanding natural setting and location, and an unending effort to improve the camp for decades into the future. If my parents had chosen some other camp, or had not sent me to Agawam, I would never forgive them! Unparalleled in the lives it touches, the Agawam experience is the single best choice a parent can make for their son's summers. My lifelong friends, who were campers with me and whom I still talk to every day, all agree that we will make that same choice when the time comes. If you're a parent, you can make that choice now! 4 summers camper, 5 summers staff

My son has never left home on his own before and he was set on not attending any camps. As I pushed for him to go we were given the opportunity to tour the camp. Very impressive. Big open area with almost every outdoor activity you could imagine. Long story short he attended the week and was the happiest kid at the end. Wouldn't stop talking about all the kids and staff and activities. His face lit up when he found out he may be going back next year. Thank you camp agawam.

I was a camper for 6 years and loved every minute of it. The staff are incredibly supportive and help to make every camper feel welcomed and successful. The traditions are endless and each day is filled with fun and varying activities. I’ve enjoyed working a few summers as staff and look forward to being a part of the Agawam family for the rest of my life.

Went her for the "Maine Idea" week long camp for several years and always had an amazing time. I don't think I can quite describe just how great the experience is! The camp truly offers expernices that you don't get every day with well trained consumers to guide and help the cmapers.

Two sons attended as campers for over 20 summers as campers, junior and full counselors, and volunteers. Best experience possible. Amazing role models, lifelong friends, skill development, extra adventures, longstanding traditions, gentlemanly sportsmanship, high aspirations. Everything parents want for their sons.

A non-profit, 7 week overnight summer camp. We sent our son for 5 summers and the personal growth he experienced was the perfect compliment to what we were doing at home. I believe it is a foundational piece of his character. It was not easy to send an eleven year old away for 7 weeks, but the benefits for him far outweighed any of our motivations for having him stay at home for a whole summer.

Camp Agawam was and remains one of the most influential institutions of my life. As an adolescent, camp reinforced in me the very best of what my parents taught 10 months of the year, but in a super fun group setting with remarkable young adult role models as counselors. 40 years later it still rings true and my very best friends are those I made at camp and have met since through continued involvement as an alumnus. Long live camps like Agawam! The world needs more Agawams.

Camp Agawam was the most formative experience of my life. I spent over 10 summers at Agawam as a camper and counselor. I enjoyed numerous activities, trips, and friendships throughout the summers while also learning valuable morals and life lessons that I have carried with me since. I can't wait to send my future sons to Agawam!
