We had a lovely visit to Camp Elena with our kids 15yrs, 13yrs, 9yrs. The tent was fantastic, linens, bed, soaps, kitchenette…ALL OF IT was perfect. I would highly recommend if staying in Terlingua. A few things to note:
1. The camp is approx 15 min on a rough(washboard) dirt road once you turn off the pavement. I recommend arriving during daylight. It’s pitch black(duh) and hard to see at night.
2. If it’s windy at night, which is rare, the tent will flap around and likely keep you awake. Earplugs are provided and recommended
3. The staff was very accommodating via text message, but no staff are on site
4. This is a “quiet zone” once sunsets, I don’t think this is a young kid friendly place, when it’s dark, it should be quiet AND DARK ! Noise travels and whispering is a thing. I wouldn’t take young kids here
