Great place to explore near Montauk. Camp Hero State Park is a peaceful and unique place to visit in Montauk. The ocean views are beautiful, and the open space is perfect for walking or relaxing. The old military buildings and history make it especially interesting and a bit mysterious. A great spot if you want something different from the usual beach experience. Recommend to visit during summer as most of places need to be visit by trail. We had fun during early winter season as well. Have parking lots and picnic area.

This is one of Montauk’s most precious gems! Everyone comes to visit the historic Montauk lighthouse and drive right by the entrance to one of the most incredible pieces of WWII history! Walk the amazing trails, that take you through the various WWII batteries. Discover breathtaking ocean cliff private views! And of course the Safe Radar tower is a must! From the spooky rumors of top secret government programs like the Montauk Project to Operation MK ultra. Make sure to protect yourself with Deet the ticks are terrible! Plenty of beautiful spots for cookouts, complete with picnic tables and large charcoal grills! A must visit location!

Beautiful large State Park in Montauk, NY. Amazing views of the bluffs and the Atlantic Ocean. There are many trails to walk around through the woods and near the beach. There are also multiple picnic areas available. You can see great views of the Montauk Point Lighthouse. It was $8.00 to enter the state park with a vehicle. I would recommend checking out Camp Hero State Park.

Camp Hero State Park is one of our favorite place to hike. Weather has been warm so we went to hike here three times last week. As you walk the trail by the beach, you will see “hoodoo” formations. It has been eroded and losing more land every year we come by. As you walk alongside the beach, you can see surfers catching waves and fish popping up in the water. You can walk to lighthouse. Truly magical place to hike and spend the day when you are in Montauk.

One of the best places to hike on long island winter, spring, summer or fall! From the radar dish to the lighthouse, to seal haul out and back to radar you get so many great views and trail types. The cliffs along the south shore are not to be missed

I had a great hike with my dad all throughout camp hero, camp hero sanctuary and to the lighthouse. We found bunkers hidden in the woods of course sealed off. It would be amazing to open 1 up just to see what it looked like back then. We walked all over camp hero and the sanctuary. It was a great day and can't wait to come out here again. The bowling alley must have only been 2 lanes at best if you can find it.

I try to get here once a year. It's a beautiful park. Great dog walking park. It can be stroller friendly, if you have a large wheeled jogging stroller. Though, I don't recommend you bring strollers, unless you stay on the roads and flat trails. If you're planning on walking through the sand trails or small wooded trails you'll have a tough time. The area is beautiful and you'll learn a lot about the history of Camp Hero if you stop and read the plaques in the barracks.

Great place to visit, and if you want to picnic. There are certain places that you can drive and certain areas that you can't, you will need to hike. There are bathrooms located on the park property and are clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking around the area. Please don't trespass where signs are posted. Wear comfortable sneakers if you plan to hike a little. Please see posted signs, especially at the Bluff Overlook. At the map of the area, there are maps and information about the park that are available below the large map. Please stay at the posted speed limit, there are people who are walking, hiking, and jogging on the road way.
