Camp Kipwe

We stayed at Camp Kipwe for 3 nights over Christmas. The rooms were spacious and lovely - we especially loved the outdoor bathroom! The views were incredible, we felt like we were on Mars! The staff were all great. And we really enjoyed the drive to see the elephants in their natural habitat which was so so special. All in all, we had a fabulous time at Camp Kipwe!

We stayed at Camp Kipwe for two days, and we must say the location is truly enchanting. Nestled among the rocks, it feels like living in a bird’s nest. Each bungalow is beautifully designed with great attention to detail and features charming open-air bathrooms. The highlight of this camp is undoubtedly the cuisine, with an exceptional chef and impeccable service. The guides were also excellent, accompanying us on unforgettable experiences, from tracking desert-adapted elephants—the true gems of Damaraland—to exploring the fascinating rock engravings, which we highly recommend. A special touch was given to our honeymoon, with a private dinner by the fire, separate from the other guests, making the experience even more memorable. A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff, especially Joseph, our guide, De Silva, and Presley. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Camp Kipwe for 3 nights. The lodge is absolutely stunning! Everything - from the location, the views, the service, the food, the friendly staff, attention to detail - all things were top notch. We would highly recommend this place to our friends and family.

A truly brilliant hotel in a stunning setting, with delicious food and exemplary staff. Special mention to Randolph, Immanuel and Janelka who went out of their way to look after us. Highly recommended especially the desert elephant trip.

Stayed in the Kipwe Suite for 2 nights and wish it could have been longer. I have not seen it documented but the lodge has added a lounge area and plunge pool on our deck, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Camp Kipwe is a beautiful lodge with wonderful staff and excellent food. Special thanks to Katandi, who is a wonderful young man who provided great service and conversation. I also very much appreciated that the chef made me special entrees at dinner to accommodate my vegetarian requests. Easily our favorite lodge on our 14-day trip!

Recommended by our travel consultant. Very pleased we followed their advice. Our ‘standard’ room more than met our expectations. It was clean, comfortable and spacious. We had a lovely outside seating area with views over the landscape, and of passing wildlife. The staff were attentive, but discreet. The chef catered for our special diets very well, the quality of the meals was excellent. We used this as a ‘chill’ location after several more hectic days travelling and sightseeing, and this was absolutely the perfect place for this.

Camp Kipwe is a stunning and extremely well run lodge. If you are planning to visit Damaraland, look not further. Management is very attentive, the staff is if great and the location is stunning. F&B is extremely good, especially given the remote location and the guides are very professional. An unforgettable experience.
