Xakanaxa’s professional service team warmly welcomed us with singing, and from then on, we experienced some of the best safari viewings in the Okavango Delta.||||Our knowledgeable and experienced tracker and guide, GB, made sure we got right up close to leopards, giraffes, zebras, hippos, impalas, kudus, jackals, warthogs, mongooses, elephants, ostriches, wildebeests, lions, monkeys, crocodiles and a myriad of wild birds. Every moment was a pure feast for the eyes.||||The home-style cooking was delicious, and the hospitable and attentive staff set up beautiful garden decorations for our evening meals under the stars and the moon, accompanied by their talented a cappella singing. ||||Game drives were twice per day. After the morning wake-up call at 6:30, a buffet breakfast was served (I recommend the local hearty porridge), and then the morning game drive started at 7:00. We returned to camp for lunch and rest until 15:00 when afternoon tea was served. The second game drive started at 15:30, and we returned back to camp for sunset.
As Camp Xakanaxa is located in the Moremi Game Reserve, all safari tours need to be back by around 18:30, so no night drives.||||The large, comfortable tents had a separate bathroom with two sinks, a shower and a toilet in the back. Amenities such as shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were all provided. It can get very cold at night, so use the extra blankets. Filtered water is provided in a huge Stanley thermos, and a jar of biscuits is in the tents for late-night nibbles.||||I can confirm that Ocar, the resident hippo, truly exists and made his appearance after dinner one night, walking through the gardens in front of the reception!
