Campbell House Penang

Absolutely perfect boutique hotel in a very convenient location in Georgetown. Many sights, sounds, eats, and drinks well within walking distance. Service is kind and relaxing from the first steps in. Building is beautifully maintained, with a gorgeous common area, and 3rd floor terrace. Room was comfortable and big, we stayed in Malaya. Breakfast and coffee were delicious. The building and nearby street is quiet at night. We only stayed a night, wish we stayed longer!

This place is simply a gem. It’s a diamond and not even in the rough anymore :) from the welcome to the rooms and the cocktails on the terrace: this was a great stay. The location is perfect as the whole of Georgetown is walkable; if we were to come back to Penang this would be our #1 choice again. Thanks!

A jewel in George Town Penang We had an exceptional trip to Penang, largely due to our stay at Campbell house. This centrally located boutique hotel in George Town is so tastefully and aesthetically appointed, reflecting the history and tradition of Penang, while offering modern amenities. The library and the terrace add to the charm of the place. And all this is complemented by hospitality par excellence. The staff exude warmth , are attentive and have many helpful tips to explore and experience Penang. Nardya and Roberto, the owners , are excellent hosts and we deeply appreciated the personalized attention they extended to us . They have set a high bar at this incredible property and at the in-house Italian restaurant - which serves a sumptuous breakfast and unique Italian food. Do try the bamboo charcoal crust pizza- the best we have had! Moreover, the sweet gesture of a surprise dessert in your room that awaits you every evening , is just a little touch that conveys how much they care. We had a delightful time at Campbell House and will highly recommend it to family and friends.

3rd time back at Campbell House over the last few years and we love it. Special mention to the local staff who remember us and Mr Lim the night staff who always ensured we had everything. Superiors rooms are big and great quality rooms with lovely furniture. We love the old colonial decor. Breakfast is delicious and very high quality. Location of the hotel is right in the heart of Georgetown and walking distance to most things in the area.

This is a gorgeous boutique hotel with excellent staff and a cozy atmosphere. We couldn’t believe our luck to get such a fantastic restaurant to enjoy our breakfasts each morning as well! We were spoiled every day with wonderful desserts left it our fridge every evening. We also received great tips on restaurants and sights to see from the staff. The location is where so much is happening in the historic district so we were able to get around quite easily. This is a great place to explore George Town!

This is a lovingly restored, charming and welcoming small hotel. All 11 rooms are different and we were in Loft - downstairs sitting area with day bed and upstairs bedroom and ensuite. Super comfortable, beautifully furnished with antiques, lamps, rugs and art work evoking another slower, thoughtful era. Cold water and iced tea replenished everyday in the bar fridge is a nice touch along with coffee machine and teas. Owners and staff were great - full of knowledge about George Town and all there is to eat, see and do and so warm and friendly. We loved Kumar at the front desk for his selection of batik shirts, his food recommendations and his kindness and humour. And the restaurant - Il Baccaro - superb Italian food and wines.

A truly warm and welcoming hotel, right in the heart of George Town. The building itself is stunning, and the rooms are large with beautiful old furniture and very comfortable beds and bedding. I personally loved the egalitarian feel, guests and staff conversing with each other as equals, but with all the help and advice a guest could wish for. The library area is a wonderful spot to sit and play cards or chess. Daily (delicious) cake was the icing on, well, the cake!

The room itself was a perfect retreat after a day of exploring Penang. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had all the modern amenities I needed, along with a very comfortable bed. Location-wise, the hotel couldn’t be better. It’s centrally located, within walking distance of key sights like George Town's vibrant street art, historical landmarks, and great food spots. At the same time, the hotel feels like a peaceful oasis, tucked away from the hustle and bustle. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone visiting Penang. It offers not just a place to stay, but an experience in itself. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
