Hidden Gem, amazing views, open all year, abundance of wildlife. Yurts rentals available .Well kept grounds, bathrooms & laundry house. Easy to pull up the mountain with excellent signage and description on turns! Thank You T & staff for great recommendations!

Google
Great little campground with a good view of the valley below. A bit of a narrow drive up to the campsite but take your time and it's no sweat. Service is top notch and they can even fill your propane at the campground. This one is also pretty close to Asheville and plenty of local markets within a short drive.

Google
Beautiful location with awesome hosts and so close to Asheville!!! Driveway up is a bit longer than you would expect, but they have encouraging signs going up all of the way! Bones, one of the hosts was especially helpful and willing to jump in with answers even off duty. The tent camping spots are perfect even for big tents and the bathrooms are very well maintained

Google
Beautiful campground, but be aware that there's a one tent per site policy - strictly enforced. If you are camping as a family (as we were) you'll need to be in a single tent, otherwise you'll be forced to separate. We had two 2-person tents, which have the same footprint as a single family tent. According to the printed campground rules, you can pay $10 for an additional tent. We paid $35 per tent, but even then the campground manager insisted that multiple tents on one site wasn't allowed. We did it (because surely they wouldn't separate a family?) alas, after we had set up our tents, the manager made us move them. The sites we got were the closest you could get together, but even so, they weren't in line of site or shouting distance from one another.

Had an absolutely amazing time here. The people here are so nice and accommodating! The drive up was alil steep but take it slow and read signs and you are all good. The views at the place was also so stunning!! Def recommend this place!! And only a few mins from Asheville!

Google
Bought a tent sight that said water and electricity available. We had non at one sight and only water at our second sight. When I asked about it the host asked me what I needed electricity for. How rude! One sight we followed the map to our location and half way down the road was closed. We had to back up on the side of the Mountain. Eventually we got here and couldn’t drive to the sight and there was do designated area for the tent. Another thing all of the campsites had trash cans at their site except for the tent site. Very disappointed & Dissatisfied . Before booking a place, you may want to call because their website is definitely false on the campground supplies to their campers.

Google
Awesome place with awesome views. Saw deer and turkey all over as well. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The grounds are expansive with hiking trails all over the place. It's maybe 5 minutes from Weaverville which was surprisingly cool. This is our new spot when visiting Asheville!

Google
We were there last week, the staff was most pleasant and helpful. Our site was P5, easy back in, the views were amazing, sunsets beautiful!! Not far to Biltmore Estate. Will go back again.

Yelp
- We were at site 16 Not an overlook - but plenty shared spaces to sit and watch - shade was nice ! Bears were around - so watch out for that on the trails ! Happy Camping

Gary A.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful location, friendly staff. Level sites, views to die for. Highly recommend

Yelp
This campground DOES have bears who visit the campground for food. There are no bear boxes provided and the property manager, Jason, will assure you it's your fault if they come into your campsite and you left something out that is square in shape. Anything square apparently, so store everything in your car. He also does NOT want this information shared. He accused my family of chasing away business when we were honest about having seen bears but in fact had encouraged the fellow camper's they were safe. Tent Campsites leave a lot to be desired. Campground is well maintained and view from BATHHOUSE is beautiful, but not from tent sites. Bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. Old, Stained and Mildewed, low lighting and poor ventilation. Note: We left out a cube shaped plastic water jug and lost our tent as a result. We didn't even complain to management or say a word, but still were treated horribly because when asked, we were honest and told a fellow camper the truth about bears destroying our campsite because of the cube shaped waterjug. We assured them it was our fault. Still the property manager accused us of driving away business. Very Rude. Never listened to us. We packed up and left a day early as that is not the kind of place we wanted to be, or people we wanted to be around.

Yelp
beautiful place. land feels good. quiet overall. if your tenting in number 7, I'd back in. yes there are bears - be smart and put your coolers and food in car.

Yelp
We absolutely loved staying here in yurt #2. Such a cool experience. Definitely recommend this place for peace and quiet....

Yelp
So happy that we found this campground. The staff here are over the top helpful and kind. We were lucky to have book a site on the ridge overlooking the valley and river below. Our site was clean and offered all we needed to settle in for a week. Office has a cute gift shop and all the maps and guides of. Be sure to get driving tips from Jason, he can show you shortcuts that will keep you off freeways when heading into downtown. A real plus for us, there is a Trader Joe's for grocery shopping. yeah! There is a nice little park in the middle of the park to play catch, throw a frisbee or play a game of horseshoes. The bathrooms offer private mini suites, with a toilet, shower and sink, albeit small it was really clean. If you don't get a site on the overlook, there is a common viewing area to watch the sunset over the valley.

Chrissy H.

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 days. Was amazing. The views were amazing, the staff very helpful and the sites/facilities well maintained. Will add to my yearly travel list for sure.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of work and responsibilities. Campfire Lodgings is located on the mountain top right beyond Asheville, NC. We stayed at site P2 and the view was breathtaking. When we arrived we were greeted by Jason and he made us feel right at home. The hookups were conveniently placed and the parking pad was awesome. The site was equipped with a nice fire pit w/ a grill grate attached along with what seemed to be a new picnic table. Wifi is free and the bathhouse was very clean and conveniently located. Although it was 36 degrees outside, the bathhouse was nice and toasty. Thanks Jason for being a wonderful host!

Vic G.

Yelp
We enjoyed the view and the staff. Spacious and clean grounds and bath areas. Close to downtown and all the quaint shops and restaurants. Late May is a good time of the year to see the National and botanical gardens. The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby.

Susan R.

Yelp
By the photos we saw online, we thought we were going to be very happy there for 3 nights in a tent! However, our site was far from lovely! The tent camping area was not well maintained at all!!! The bathhouse was fine, but we will never go back.

Jeremy Y.

Yelp
I found this campground very nice. The previous reviews they all commented on the road to get in, it's not as bad as everyone says. Yea, if another rv was coming In the opposite direction, there would be a problem, but just coming up was no problem. Just take slow and easy. Jason was extremely helpful and was attentive to anything we would have needed. The bathrooms could use some fixing up but not terrible. The view is just perfect. A small campground but it's all we needed cause we ran so much to see everything we could. We would definitely recommend this place and we would stay here again. We were in site D17 with a 36' travel trailer. This site was not a premium site but was a great site because we always had some shade on our awning side which made for nice seating at anytime during the day and night. Look forward to coming back. Thanks again.

Yelp
Do not visit this camping area unless you want to be disrespected and insulted by the staff. I reserved and prepaid for a RV site. Upon arrival I was told that I was early and would have to pay $15 extra because check in was not until 2:30 pm and it was currently 1:50 pm ( 40 min early). I stated that I would just wait until their 2:30 pm check in time. I was told to either drive my motor home back to main road or I would be arrested for trespassing. The entrance road is rough 1/2 mile gravel. I was not blocking anyone and my assigned site was vacant. A person named Jason arrived and proceeded to tell me leave or be arrested. He followed me to the main road to assure we had left. He has no worry because we won't be back. We have visited 100's of camping areas in every state coast to coast and have never been treated so rudely

Michael G.

Yelp
40 foot diesel pushers STAY AWAY! The roads from the highway are not suited for large wheel base. And low road clearance. If you turn in off highway you are committed. Trailers OK. You can't twist a 40 foot long box on a gravel road with large ruts. Also only a few sites are concrete. Most are out of level gravel.

Donn H.

Yelp
Place is a joke less than - 1 star if I could, We prepaid in full for a week for the # 1 Prime Spot, on our way there we encountered a Hurricane and my husband came down with the flu., He had just had a heart attack and it was our maiden voyage in our first RV. The first night on the road we had to stop to ditch the torrential rains so we were behind schedule. No big deal we were not in a hurry we are chilling we're on vacation. Their office called us 1/2 a dozen times, I explained what was going on and we still planned on arriving. They were understanding at first (not there problem or concern right?) but day 2 when we were still in route, of a 800 mile Trip which included a hour drive straight up the Great Smokey mountains they were constantly calling my husband's phone, the attitude quickly changed and they started threatening us, that our site would be surrendered, WTH we were paid in FULL FOR A WEEK. My wife was balling her eyes out when she told me they called while I was getting gas that we lost our spot and were assigned another site. After raising 4 kids for 30 years this was like a second honeymoon for us. We arrived and it was late and dark and we were tired. Jason came out to greet us to lead us to our site, which had changed, from prime #1 spot overlooking the great smokies to a section of gravel...next to the dumpster...and an tool shed. We had to leave the door windows open because the only power was a 115 volt extension cord (no a/c). In the middle of the night just before we were getting ready to go to bed the hamburgers we brought and the dumpster we were smelling attracted a 250 lb. bear. Ok now I'm pissed. The dumpster was 10 feet in front of the RV!!! The dogs were going crazy but the bear did not care!! Jason was still very nice to us but reading the reviews since it seems he unfortunately has been influenced by the "campground manager" whom must be from NEW YORK who after returning home I found out she had a college degree in something, it was not hospitality. My wife is a CAMPGROUND MANAGER in the largest campground in all of Maryland. All of a sudden, we were treated like 2nd class citizens. They had our money, they were good, us not so much. The Manager was dictating what Jason should tell us. He was kind, but had to follow instruction from her. His wife was crying when she called to tell us the news. She was a miserable Northerner who had no business being in the hospitality business. But apparently she is still there. My wife never once treated anyone the way we were treated. I would bad mouth this place til the day I die. We left the next morning to our disgust, thought about demanding our refund, but they obviously would have made it impossible and stressful for us to stand the time dealing with her. WILL NEVER GO NEAR this part of North Carolina, keep on driving and go to Alabama ""REAL PEOPLE REAL HOSPITALITY " Lake Martin, Alabama!!!

Yelp
WOW!!! Stayed in a yurt for the eclipse and had a great time. The yurt was very clean and even had a coffee pot It was like you are in a tree house that has a nice bed and tv!! Would love to go back during the fall to see the leaves.

Dee D.

Yelp
For fellow RVers, this place is a must do! Worth the upgrade to a premium site. Beautifully landscaped and maintained, clean, private bath house, nice trails on site (although short...about a mile long). I can't say enough about Jason! So kind, helpful and welcoming. Hope they pay him well above average, he's worth it. Haven't met any campsite host as good as him in the 30 plus campgrounds we've been too. Yes, this is on a mountain top, you must go up a dirt road. But the road is nicely marked with reflectors and maintained well. Thank you Young Family for developing such a terrific campground!

Lisa H.

Yelp
A stellar campground. This is very private as a tent camper. The common area is spectacular for viewing sunset and the bathrooms were so clean! I loved how quiet this was. Quiet hours are just that. A wonderful experience that I hope to return for again and again! Everyone has a perfect camping spot and it's hard to say what would be great for everyone, but Campfire Lodgings is anything you need it to be. I particularly enjoyed that all the campers seemed to respect the wild and the simple rules here. Thanks to such amazing staff for always checking on me.

Maddie M.

Yelp
Love this place! I've been here twice, both times I stayed in a Yurt. It was so nice! Secluded, warm and toasty inside, with a TV, fireplace, and a warm comfy bed, and yet it feels a lot like camping because you are out in the woods, and have to walk to the showers (if your yurt doesn't have one). It was fun to sit out on the deck with a drink, and look at the mountains. It's not too far from Asheville (about 15 min drive) and there are lots of hiking trails around. The view of the river from the overlook by the main office is beautiful! Maybe one of these days we'll go try out the tent sites. I'm totally in love with this place!

Yelp
I'm not sure if I am able to find the words to describe how wonderful our stay was at this campground. First off, the location is great. As another yelper mentioned, it's in the side of a mountain and provides just the most fantastic views just over the French Broad. The road driving up is long, narrow and at some times steep but you're driving up a mountain so I suppose it's something to expect. The gentleman that greeted us is Jason and he was just the most hospitable man you could meet. It was cold our first night there (we stayed for 4 nights) and the next morning, he came driving up to us in the golf cart and asked how our night was and when we told him great but a little chilly, he drove back to his motorhome and brought us a little space heater to borrow. He even told my fiancé to jump in the gold cart with him so he could show him where the bears and deer normally sleep. Now, I said bears but don't freak. They're harmless if you follow the food storage regulations they have posted everywhere. They were mostly active at night (we could hear them passing through) but they never bothered our site because we kept all the coolers and anything with a smell in the cars. We never had a chance to hike the trails but everyone kept talking about how lovely they were. If you are very into camping but like the reassurance of having some running water and a bathroom to use, this place delivers. Honestly, the two things that had me were the staff and the views. We will most definitely be back if we are ever back in town to camp.

Krista W.

Yelp
First of all, it's basically carved into the side of a mountain so as soon as we got to the office to check in, we looked to the right to see a breath taking view of the mountains and a waterfall! Then we got to the actual tent site and it was covered by weird fruit that kept falling from the trees above, but the maintenance man, Jason, was nice enough to use a leaf blower and get it off the tent site. He also allowed us to use a tarp since we had forgotten our own. Also, puppy friendly which was very nice and everyone there is just willing to please. So amazing!

Whitie M.

Yelp
Beautiful and clean campground with stunning views. Jason (campground staff) is fantastic. I read several reviews about the road up to the campground being difficult, but we had no issue pulling our 34 foot travel trailer up the hill. The premium sites offer a concrete parking area and awesome views. We stayed at a deluxe site (D-11). The deluxe sites offer some filtered views of the valley, French broad river, and distant mountains, but all sites are an easy (1-2 minute) walk to a common area with chairs that have an unimpeded view of breathtaking scenery.

Julia P.

Yelp
2nd time here. 1st time was much better. TONS of gnats throughout the entire campground. Construction going on and they did not tell us in advance. We will try again but disappointed this time.

Dan P.

Yelp
I've been camping for about 25 years in everything from a lean-to on up through the current 31' Travel Trailer I currently have. My girlfriend and I found this place while looking for places to stay during Labor Day Weekend 2011. I made some mistakes while entering data on the online reservation system, but the owner was very friendly and helpful with fixing my mistake. Once we arrived, we knew we had picked a winner for a campground. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the grounds are quiet and secluded. There's not much to do for children, but plenty of trails to walk, ride, or hike for adults looking for a getaway. There are several tent and RV sites ranging from very basic up to concrete pads with all the necessary amenities for the big RVs. There were also yurts for those who don't have a camper or tent, and a cliff house for anyone who's not willing to "rough" it. The bathrooms were immaculate and well kept the entire time. Ideally located just minutes from downtown Asheville, it would be hard not to find stuff to do. The village of Cherokee, the Biltmore, Chimney Rock, and the Pisgah National Forest are just some of the amazing attractions within an hour of this campground. For someone looking for dining choices, the authentic Bavarian Restaurant had food that matched what I've had in Bavaria. Several other restaurants were close by. I highly recommend choosing this campground to adults looking for a getaway.

Annabel M.

Yelp
Had a great time here this weekend! Our campsite had a spacious gravel pad, fire pit with a grill top, picnic table, trash can, water, AND and outlet! The only sort of strange thing was that didn't see anyone else the whole time we were there, which coming from an urban area (we live in Boston) was a little creepy but definitely gave us a real "camping"experience. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxed place to stay this is it!

Bill C.

Yelp
We stayed on one of the premium rv sites near the office. The view was amazing from our site! The campground was clean throughout. The bathrooms were clean and there was a laundry room available. The staff was friendly, especially Jason, who was always available to help out. The campground is a short drive into Asheville.

Joe M.

Yelp
After reading several reviews on the internet we were leery but we booked an RV site and our friends got a cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and our friends loved their cabin. We had none of the problems others talked about and i LOVED the trails for my morning runs. Highly recommend this place.

Kay B.

Yelp
Small quaint & quiet park. Beautiful views at site #2. Wished we could've stayed longer. We were in a 42' motor home towing. Unhooked at bottom before going up but there was room up top also. Easier to climb the hill without.

Noah B.

Yelp
We tent camped here as the federal government shutdown had left us with fewer options. There is an amazing vista from many of the rv sites. The bathrooms were clean and individual so you had your privacy. We didn't use the laundry room but one was available (bring your own detergent). A staff member, Jason, could not have been more friendly or helpful, going above and beyond what is expected of a camp host. It was not cheap but it was a pleasant experience

Paul R.

Yelp
A really great campground with excellent staff and amenities. Only deducting a star because some tent sites don't have power or water and there can be significant road noise from the neighboring freeways. But that's the trade off being so close to town.

Brittany D.

Yelp
Great views and clean yurt we rented! Will be coming back for sure! Would like to see the yurts have some views but understand we cannot get it all! Great people to work with at the office

Deena R.

Yelp
Such a wonderful campground. We arestate park people for all other RV trips throughout the year for the space and scenery but come fall we must be at Campfire Lodgings. There no other campground public or private in WNC that comes close to this or in any other area. Believe me, we have looked at every other option over the last several years in WNC. Jason, Andi, and Stormy are very welcoming without being intrusive. They all recognize we (the camper) are here to relax and vacation so they are available but don't intrude. The rv sites are good size even big rigs and are positioned so each feel large instead of the usual jamming as many in so you wind up staring at a the back side of a camper. The views from the premium sites can't be beat. You see the French broad River and mountain range across. In the early. Printing mist fills the valley and you are above it see it burn off as the sun rises. The non premium sites still have a peek a boo view through the trees and are gargantuan. Because it is a small campground it is not so kid friendly unless your kids love to play in the woods. Then this is perfect for them. There are a few hiking trails around the campround that are easy follow; one of which goes all the way to the bottom of the mountain. Beware the road back up to the CG is twice as long when you have to walk it as when you are driving. They are very pet friendly; all they ask of the owners is to be considerate and clean up after fido. I don't believe this is too much to ask. For the basics. Water pressure is good and consistent, cable is provided, wifi is good until everyone hops on at the same time. Both paved and gravel sites are Lovell and easy to back in. We have been coming here for 6 years and have no intention to go elsewhere.

Allison S.

Yelp
Could not have had a better experience. We tent camped the last weekend in October, as we were attending a music festival in downtown Asheville. The site was amazing with a beautiful overlook view. Our tent site (T-9) was somewhat secluded. The bathrooms were clean and warm (it was below freezing at night the weekend we were there). The staff was more than friendly. Going out of their way to help. This site is a straight shot to downtown Asheville; turn right out of the site onto Old Marshall Hwy and then right again on 25 and it will lead you straight into the heart of Asheville. Glad we got this tip from the lovely folks at the office, as we planned to take 240. Overall, great stay and can't wait to go back soon.
