Had so much fun and will definitely go back 💰Price: Reasonable prices All day snow pass-$65.00 Skis boots poles rentals-$48.77 Two hour tubing-$36.00 🔥Service: Very helpful. 👯‍♀️Crowd: Not to crowded but a good amount of people. 🚗Transportation: I'm coming from Queens so it was an 1hr away but it was easy to get too and FREE parking.

This time, snow tubing was so thrilling! 🚀 I went down five times, and each time the speed was incredible! You even spin around at the bottom—except I spun a little too much and got totally dizzy 🤣. Each round, from waiting in line to sliding down, took about 20 minutes, so it was pretty efficient!

Allright! Season is closed but I forgot to leave a review😭 SO experience was great !!! A day before we got there I called in to ask if I have to reserve in advance and asked about timing. Man replied patiently and gave me detailed answers to all questions I asked🥹✨We got snowboard and ski packages, $52 each. We didn’t have car, someone dropped us off, which is a minus, since they have no lockers and it is on your own risk to leave a bag. And yet, we left and no one touched it 😮‍💨🙂‍↕️🙏 Guys who were giving a rent equipment, acted quick and professional, gave clear recommendations. We got lucky to get there on actually SNOWING day 🥹❄️ P.S. sign “No tossing snowballs” can not be taken seriously 😂 it sounds personal. Why can’t I throw some ???!!

Google
Not super cheap but not too pricey either. Rental all day $52 (extra $16 for helmet). Lift pass all day $46 on weekdays and $65 on weekends and holidays, which is still cheap if you can be out there from 8:30 am till 10 pm. We could not though, it was too cold in late Feb so we left at 7 pm. Accessibility - by car or bus then short ride, total one hour drive from Newark Amenities - alright, small cozy, beautiful Manhattan in the background Rental shop - good, attentive Lifts - only 2 (double) chairs, sometimes 1 Snow condition - acceptable until 6 pm, they groom well at the beginning Crowd - not at all (parking, restroom, lodge) Difficulty - double black here is between green and blue somewhere else, only 4 major trails Bonus - snowtubing $36/ hr which is packed, a lot of private lessons (at some point I felt there were more ski patrols and ski school instructor than guests)

My nephews from Florida came to visit. I decided to take them to NJ for tubing and found this wonderful little family, friendly spot. Very organized very clean. The staff are very outgoing and fun for the kids. They also had skiing and snowboarding, but my nephews really just wanted to stick to the tubing and they had a blast. The food was actually pretty good also.

Great afternoon with the kids. We booked 2 hours of tubing on a Sunday. Got to go on quite a few runs. Kids had a blast. They also had skiing and snowboarding with rentals available. A small cafe for like concessions-style food and drink. Reasonably priced activity for a pretty stellar snowy day memory. Book ahead, free parking.

Was a fun excursion. Was closer to home than I expected which was a nice surprise. Nice facility overall. Pretty well organized for the most part. Staff was good, they were mainly younger kids and teenagers but no issues there. Parking was fine. Only minor disappointment was that there was only one set of lanes for tubing. Was hoping there was a different experience besides the one set of tubing lanes but it was still enjoyable. I would recommend this place for younger children and teenagers, at least for the tubing because we don't ski. Although there were a lot of people skiing and it looked like it would be for little kids to adults and they were having a good time too.

Google
Campgaw Mountain is a county run Alpine ski area in Mahwah, New Jersey. Aspen, it's not. But if you live close by and conditions permit, you can test your downhill equipment and get your ski legs going for the season to come. It's inexpensive, compared to the bigger areas in the Poconos and Catskills. There are also tubing runs, a small lodge and plenty of parking. And like almost every other ski area these days, snow guns make most of the snow.

Yelp
Lots of fun and a reasonable price for tubing. They were on it too when they had to have people leave who were passed their time slot, which we appreciated

Yelp
My husband recently purchased 4 tickets for snow tubing at Campgaw, only to discover--after receiving the confirmation email--that there's a 48-inch height requirement to ride. This important disclaimer was not easily visible during the purchase process. Within 10 minutes of realizing this, I called to request a full refund. I spoke with a supervisor named Chanie and a manager named Gabby, who both refused to issue a full refund. They only agreed to refund two tickets and offered a mere $10 off the remaining tickets. It's incredibly disappointing that this company would prioritize keeping $20 over providing good customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction. This experience has completely soured my opinion of Campgaw, and I will not support them in the future. I urge others to think twice before booking with them.

Yelp
It was a small and not crowded area to go in a family, staff are mostly high school or college kids, are very lazy, most of them are looking at their phone not wven paying attention, they dont bother to check tickets, or taking my waivers, very hilarious. No wonder people called this place ghetto. 3 stars is pretty accurate, don't get me wrong, it's fun. Abour Snow tubing: when you go tubing, make sure you have strong arms. They are heavy, esp if you have small children, you will have to pull all the tube. In 2 hrs it's very tire exercise. Sure, it's an arm workout. **There was a big chubby rude kid playing at the tubing area, making sure when you see him, teach him some lessons. He is hitting everyone without respect and staring at you with his ugly eyes. **

Yelp
We are a family of beginners. The trails here are perfect for learning. The just for me instructor for my toddler was friendly and patient. The group instructor did his best in relation to the size of the group. Group size was too large for two instructors. But I was there on a holiday week. When the mtn was getting crowded around noon, they started aggressively checking for tags and removing parents and grandparents from spectating. This didn't really bother me, thinning the crowd was better and safer for everyone. Instead of waiting to aggressively remove people, they probably should have just kept people away since the start of the day. I use the word aggressive to describe their tones and facial expression. Nothing ever became physical. You'd think they were all moonlighting nypd.

Yelp
I remember coming to this place several years ago before the pandemic. Most of the trails were open and all of the lifts were operating. This time when I came only one lift was open. The lines were long. Only one trail was open. It's like they forgot to take care of all the rest of the trails. It seems pretty neglected if you asked me. The price to ski here is not really worth it. Sure you can go night skiing here, but what good is it if you only have one trail? Having given this review, cannot knock the people that work here. They are good people and are very courteous. I'm very disappointed that I came here. If you were looking to go skiing, this is not the place to spend the money at until they get their ski lifts and trails all in working order.

Yelp
Campgaw is a little two-lift mountain near Mahwah in northern NJ. Definitely a beginner mountain with tubing and some easier slopes for the kids to learn on (via instructors/class) and greens through the trees to practice on. Their black courses are more like a tough blues at the big mountains but are good for beginners learning to carve their way down a slope. Lines are bit long - covid form for getting into camp is the first stop with a temperature reading, then the hut to grab tickets and a long line if you want rentals. The lift 2 has a middle stop for the easier greens in the mountain, took a little to get used to it. Seats on the lifts are old and small, so it does feel easy to fall off of. Lines are long during the day on weekends and shorter at night or weekdays. The timing for tickets is always a little iffy - sometimes not posted for passes until only a week before or five days. And they did limit the mountain tickets sold when covid was bad - unlike some other PA mountains. If you're an experienced skier/snowboarder, skip this place unless you need a warmup. It'll be too boring going straight down the slope again and again. For beginners willing to wait in line, not bad at all. And for $45 for a all-day pass, even on holiday weekends, it's not going to break the bank.

Matthew T.

Yelp
This is where I learn to ski and I just think that it is to small. Barely a mountain and they have no lodge, you have to sit in the cold while you eat. The lifts are slow and sound like they are rotting on the inside. Trails were fine and ski patrol was ok, some of them didn't even know what they were doing and were just making things up harder. I will say the snow tubing is fun and one of the best I have done. In conclusion, camp has could you some upgrade and needs a lodge

Yelp
I am now always on the look out for COVID-friendly activities and I was glad to discover this one thanks to News12! I haven't been snowtubing in a REALLY long time but I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun this was at Campgaw. There was not enough snow for skiing when we went in the beginning of January, but there was definitely plenty for tubing! What to wear: snow boots, ski gear, hat, gloves. Make sure you don't wear anything you don't want to get dirty. What to expect: the magic carpet that takes you up the hill tends to stop pretty frequently. Be prepared to walk with your tube. There is a staff member at every line of tubers - they will instruct you on how to sit. It can go pretty fast, especially if you have the hard shell! Pro tip: make reservations in advance and come as early as you can to avoid crowds.

Yelp
I go here a lot. There's a lot of different things you can do. Camp Gaw isn't great for anything, but because of it's location and variety, it's well worth it. There's a lot of different picnic and hiking areas. There's a lake that you can fish in or take a walk around. The mountain has a beginner and intermediate area for skiing or snowboarding if you're just beginning or don't want to drive further away. They also do tubing and disk golf(whatever that is).

Yelp
PROS: This is one of the best snow mountains in all of the county. You can ski, snowboard, or sled here. Rent the equipment or bring your own. They have a nice log cabin for rentals and refreshments. Their parking lot is also very large. They have many camp grounds for scouts and individual campers too CONS: This place has overpriced refreshments and rentals OVERALL: If you don't mind the prices this place is a must for campers and snow activities

Yelp
Really fun corporate event where a large team came to Campgaw to go tubing. Facilities and staff were great and the experience was seamless and smooth. The only downside is that the weather didn't cooperate and there wasn't a lot of snow. Nevertheless the team at Campgaw had 5 lanes open and were working to patch and fill in other areas of the tubing lanes to keep operations running.

Yelp
This isn't the type of skiing where you can picture endless chains of snowcapped mountains. This is the type of skiing where new yorkers go learn how to safely maneuver themselves down a slippery slope before they drop some money on a ski trip to some larger mountain that requires an airplane ride. Campgaw is within a really close driving distance from NYC and is perfect for a day trip. Online reservations were available, although the system was a bit clunky. You get what you need to get done -- lift tickets, lessons, rentals, etc. Rental equipment was a bit beat up and kind of muddy, thanks to the recent balmy temperatures. I went on that one weekend where it actually felt like winter, and the snow machines were going strong the whole day long. They were loud, but hey who is to complain when they're covering the slope with fresh powdery snow? The trails were generously rated for what they were, in comparison to other ski resorts. Lift lines weren't long (there was only one lift operating), but the seats did get all wet and icy from the endless snow being blown. There is a nice enclosed area with heat and seating for your non snow activity companions to spend the day. Overall, this is a great escape from NYC and for beginners to learn how to ski.

Yelp
Small mountain. Perfect for a toddler to learn how to ride. There are COVID safety rules in place. They check temperature, require social distancing and masks and make you sign a form that you understand risks and where not exposed. It's a small mountain but it has a black diamond option for a novice to practice. Slots fill up quickly. Need to reserve 48 hours in advance to get a spot - although private lessons may be available same day. They also have tubing. We have not tried it, but the lines there were long. Groups come in busses to do it. The amount of people didn't make me too comfortable. Things I like - it's close (30 min drive from north jersey), they have lots of group classes for kids and a great place to start. If you are not coming to ski or tube, there is a little picnic area to sit in but not a lot of room to walk around. Just remember to dress warm and bring a book if you are waiting for someone who is taking a lesson.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place to hike, practice archery, ski, snow-tube and snowboard. If you're advanced at any of the winter activities you will probably get bored fast. There is a small indoor area to warm up and grab a snack. This is a great local place for beginners or just to hone your skills.

Yelp
Campgaw is a small ski resort with one slope, 2 lifts and a beginner area with 2 carpet. Its lift ticket is really affordable with many different pricing options based on the time its valid for so it can be very competitive. We went on a Sunday afternoon so we bought the 1pm to 6pm lift ticket for $39 per person. The beginner area wasn't that crowded and the line for the carpets weren't that long. They only have 1 slope and 1 of the ski lift goes to the top of the slope and a 2nd lift is a little shorter than that which brings you to an area that is not as steep. However the 2nd lift wait time was probably 30-45 min based on the crowd level, while the 1st lift was about 10 min which was manageable. Despite buying the lift ticket online, we waited probably 30 min in line before we were able to get our lift ticket, we had our own equipment but the rental line per their own website can potentially take 1 to 1.5 hours. Overall I liked the place and its good for beginners also its close proximity to the NYC area.

Yelp
Do not buy any tubing tickets for this place! You have been warned! If the weather is bad and you are unable to make your appointment, for e:g a day like today when my car is stuck on snow (see photo) and it would be dangerous to drive to their location an hour away, they will not be considerate & will either offer you no alternate dates or will charge you an additional $15 per person to change the date even though the weather conditions is no fault of yours. They do not care about the weather conditions where you live, all they care about is that they are open & if you can't make it because of the weather, they could care less. I will never pay money to visit this place and will never refer anyone I know to it. Deplorable and inconsiderate customer service and management will show zero flexibility or understanding! Do not go here!

Yelp
It's neither here nor there. You pay $100+ per person to get a group lesson, but they don't separate groups by age and it's 1 instructor for about 5 of us. Most of the instructors are kids. We got stuck with a kids who cried and complained the entire session, then we had a lady who I'm not sure what her deal was, but she was stuck in our group of beginners, but complained about needing to be bumped up to advance and tried so hard to show off her tricks down the slope, only to end up tumbling over guard-nets couple times, taking away copious amount of time from our instructor. I literally didn't learn anything from our hourlong lesson (which actually ended earlier than an hour). Their "learner's slope", I call it, is so congested with people and kids that I was telling my partner how much of a hazard it actually was doing ski lessons there. You had other instructors who were zooming down the slope with kids who hadn't perfected slowing down or stoping yet, almost hitting others who are barely learning to "pizza" their way through. People blasting and bumping to each other at full speed with sharp skis out. Even a few times I felt like I bent my knees so much causing sprain because I had to emergency stop by falling down just to get out of the way of a kid and their kid-instructor from steamrolling me with their skis, also so I don't inadvertently hurt the kids. After the "learner's slope", there's a beginner's slope next to it, where you get to by riding the conveyer belt shared with the learner's slope. This is such a good place to go if you have kids, you're a pro teaching your kids, or a pro needing to have fun. It'll be cheaper for experienced people, without the $100+ tag price for lessons. Their highest slope looks like a fun height for advanced level. They have cable carts that take you up there! With adrenaline pumping, we made the mistake (or made a wonderful memory, if you ask me) of going to their middle level slope and though we almost broke legs few times tumbling down, it was so fun! But learn from our mistake, don't ride the cable car slopes if you aren't confident up the wazoo with the lower sloped options they have. They had emergency people on deck skiing around. Even checked in on us when my partner and I were helping each other get up for the billionth time on the more advanced slope. And have us notice that we indeed were on an advanced slope and very kindly advised us to go to shorter ones for our safety. They have gears available for rent if you need, they have lockers and bathroom in basement. They have hot cocoa and other foods we didn't partake in but saw everywhere! The place is PACKED and you will see kids at the lost and found section at least once an hour. If you go early morning like we did, prepare for the blazing sunshine on your eyes. Some people didn't wear their ski masks, but I couldn't see a thing skiing down had I not worn mine. During our visit, they were diligent on mask-wearing indoors which I thought was great given the dense population in close proximity. They have skiing times till 8pm so they got you covered on the bright lights at night. Overall, place would be good for advanced people, but for the price tag beginners session and experience, it isnt. Do note that they have private lessons available for $180+ per.

Yelp
Family friendly ski mountain with plenty of nearby hiking trails. Mostly a beginners track, the pricing and accommodations are very serviceable. Polite staff and easily arranged lessons make this a good choice for newbie skiers/snowboarders to learn - before that family ski holiday to Tahoe or Vail. ;) Top Tip: Weekdays are less crowded and an 8am arrival on weekends will get you a couple of hours of continuous runs before the crowds arrive. Facilities are modest but adequate.

Yelp
What a terrible experience and a complete waste of $60 for myself and my husband. I booked snow tubing because the website claimed they were only selling 180 tickets per session and we appreciated that they were attempting to limit the crowds however on 2/13/21 this was certainly not the case at all. We paid for a session from 7-9, and by the time we got to the front of the tubing lane, it was 7:40!! The crowds were endless and not managed very well. All in all, we went down a total of 3 times. To top things off, the slope was so narrow that most people made it just half way at which point there were teenaged workers stationed there to give people a push the rest of the way. We are so disappointed in the experience and hope that this review will help others make a more informed decision. (See pics)

Yelp
What a frightening experience. Do not buy any tickets for Campgaw ski area. My child had ski beginner class here on Feb. 20th,but when I went to pick him up after he finished the lesson, I was horrified to find that my child suffered a badly fractured arm, he even fell down on the ground caused of great pain,I immediately took him to the hospital ,my 8 years old child was diagnosed with a misaligned fracture of the right wrist. I even don't know what happened to my child due to taking care of my little one. My child told me that as he stood facing the instructor an adult dressed in black jacket hit him from back and skied quickly past him without stopping,my child knows that guy who hit him was one of the ski area coaches. I called Campgaw ski area next day to find out how my child had been hit during class time . A Manager named Landy answered my call only saying she will call back to me but she never call me again,I waited for 5 days and continued to call Landy every day,Landy disappeared she never answered my calls. Particularly irritating was the staff's persistent claim that Landy would call me back to cheat me!This is unacceptable to anyone.I really can't imagine that they are such indifferent, perfunctory, they deliberately deceived a grieving mother !They show zero care about children only take your money forever! Every mother has a right to know how her child got great damage only after an hour of class time! They can't tell the truth because it was their coach who hit my child! This is my child's first ski lesson,he doesn't know how to protect himself in case of an emergency while skiing , this is why I pay them for the lesson, this is the reason I need a coach,at least they should put children beginner in a safe area for class& keep children safe during class hour! especially when the coach hit a child so hard! I will never forget me and my child stayed at the hospital for 6 hours that night, when doctor put his bone back to place he crying and screaming aloud caused of the great pain and fear,I can do nothing only cry and look at him! How terrified and grieved I am at that time!Only mom knows how much pain and fear my child endured! After treatment my child's bone still not straight .He has never laughed since that day of fracture,he kept silent every day, this caused him great damage both physically and psychological! We drove here for 2 hours&line up for 2 hours for rental ,but my child was injured in his favorite ski lesson and it wasn't because of his own mistakes. This is really terrible! I will never pay money to visit this place. They don't deserve to be trusted!Keep your eyes on the child, they will put your child in danger!

Yelp
Located off of Route 202 and 287 in Mahwah, N.J., Campgaw Mountain skiing, snowboarding and tubing is ideal for beginners. They have a learning center called magic carpet which is a gentle slope and if you wish you can purchase lessons as well. I would say that age 6 is a good starting age. You will find a lot of students from Ramapo college skiing. snowboarding and tubing here. Campgaw is only three miles from the Ramapo campus. Bergen county residents get a 20% discount and the convenience of getting to the slopes in 30 minutes or less. Campgaw is the only slope in Bergen County. The tubing is fun for all ages. You get a 2 hour slot from Mon-Fri for $26-$28 dollars. Buy your reservation online. You can not just show up and expect to get a 2 hour slot. They will probably refuse you. In 2 hours you can get 30 or more runs. Reserving a two hour slot keeps the lines shorter. The slope is moderate not steep with plenty of time to stop at the bottom. There is a pull rope to get you and your tube back up to the top of the hill. You have to sign a release form before they hook your tube to a line and pull you to the top. Since Campgaw is under thirty minutes from my home, it is convenient to just pack-up and head to the slopes later in the day. I like to ski during the week since there are considerably less crowds. Mon-Thurs (4-8pm) is only $25. The ski slopes are intermediate in difficulty probably disappointing advanced and expert skiers. The day I was there the snow making machines were going full tilt producing a machine groomed packed powder. The base was 18"-24" with fresh snow fall, it do not enjoy icy conditions as much anymore. Yeah, it gets icy. The lodge is adequate and they serve hot and cold food and beverages. The staff looks like mostly young people. Check their website for snow conditions, times, price and discounts. Due to Covid-19, there is a temperature check at the gate, health screening form, masks must be worn, 6' social distancing must be maintained and hand dispensers are available in some locations.

Yelp
Complete disaster during COVID. They tell you come 15 minutes ahead but it took at least 35-45 minutes to get checked in for tubing. Then they have you walk around the world to get to the tubing. You get only maybe 4-5 runs in for the 2 hour session. What a complete waste! Don't do it until this COVID is done unless you want to waste your money

Yelp
We had my son's birthday party with a small group at Campgaw this past Saturday and the overall experience was awful. We booked AND PAID FOR a party from 9:30-10:00 on Saturday which was to include french toast sticks and hot chocolate for the kids and parents.  As of 9:50, the food and beverages were not there and the table where the kids were sitting wasn't even set up (no tablecloths, plates or cups to be found).  I spoke to the young lady who ran the party and let her know that I was taking the kids tubing because what was happening was unacceptable and that we would be back around 11 and I asked that the hot chocolate and french toast sticks be ready.   We got back to the table around 11:15, the young lady working the party was nowhere to be found and there was no food or beverages at our table.  At that point, I went into the concession area to ask for everything to be brought out immediately.  The food finally came out at 11:25 and to be clear, this food was supposed out for the kids at 9:30.   My wife booked the party through the head of group sales (Jerry) and in the weeks leading to the party he did not respond to my wife's multiple emails and I left AT LEAST four voice mails in an attempt to go over the details of the party and never received a call back.

Yelp
Traveled all the way from Long Island because when we called they told us it was great spring skiing conditions. We got there and its definitely NOT!

Yelp
Convenient for anyone in North Jersey. But not for an advanced skier. Tiny mountain, as in a "top" and "lower" section, but perfect for someone starting out or the kiddos. Easy rentals, tubing, and lots of opportunities to learn the basics. We love it here for a quick trip. However because of location and ease to get to, expect high prices and crowds! Bonus they are open on snow days when school is closed.

Yelp
We visited Campgaw for a couple of hours of tubing in the Sunday before MLK Day. The temperatures were positively frigid, but we all had a nice time. There's only one snow tubing hill with many, many lanes. It's well organized in that everyone goes down at the same time after a countdown, like it's a race. It can be a little slow, because the people in all 10+ (?) lanes need to get situated in their tubes. The staff members are courteous older teens/early 20s. The place feels very safe, with lots of parents staying in the heated eating/resting area while the kids go up and down the hill. As an elder in my early 40s, I only went down a few times, as I spun quite a bit at the bottom of the hill and became dizzy. Great times had by those 12 and under! We shall return.

Yelp
Hello, I have called and left multiple messages to be contacted about our visit on 2/7/23. My husband , 3 kids and I came with a group called "Friends with chelsea on 2/8/23. The night before we all got a hotel close by so that we can go snow tubbing . One of the other guests ended up slamming the hotel door onto my sons Left ring finger at around 10pm the night before, forcing us to go to an urgent care. It ended up being his finger was shattered and needed to get more xrays and such. Me and my two daughters were able to go tubing however my husband had to stay behind with my son . This was not any of our faults however we should get refunded the two tickets. I have the documentation to prove the series of events and can send those over to you. I would like to say my experience here was great however I called about 4 times and left numerous VM and personally spoke to the associates to have someone call me back, and no one has called me back. I work in customer service and am a manager. To not respond at all for 4 weeks is horrible. Especially if it was means beyond our control. I want someone to call me back and do the right thing and refund for my son and husband. I would hope this establishment is fair and not about making the bottom dollar on folks who could not control the series of events.

Elle L.

Yelp
Highly disappointed! I recommended this place for tubing with friends for winter break. We purchased the tickets days before and about half our crew became ill with the flu. After calling several times, we spoke with a staff member who said we needed a doctor's note in order to switch the dates but we had to speak with the manager. After several calls trying to speak with the manager, we were told there are absolutely no refunds or transfers. Not wanting to be irresponsible and get other patrons sick, we decided to stay home. With everything going on you would think they would not want to put their paying customers at risk but they seem to be more concerned with their bottom line. Be warned and try another place (Mt peter) who has no problem ensuring the health and safety of their patrons. We spent over $200! Do not waste your money here!

Yelp
This is a small ski area, but we were fortunate that it was somewhat empty when we were there. The parking lot often gets filled, and it is a long trek to the ski/tubing area. There are two places to eat - the prices are quite reasonable. The food is fine, but there is not much of a variety. In the lodge is a wood burning fireplace which is nice to relax and get warm at. There is ski instruction - great instructors. The tubing has been updated so that there is a moving walkway which takes you to the top of the mountain. Tubing sessions are sometimes full, so buy in advance.

Yelp
Be aware of outright theft if buying ski lessons for your kid. Once there (after taking the day off work, and paying non-refundable $144 for gear and a mediocre 75-minute lesson), I was informed that to see my daughter's class, I would need to buy gear myself, even if I had no intention of skiing. The lesson is about 15 yards from the ticket office. So if your kid needs you around, you'll actually pay over $200, plus you'll be lugging around equipment you don't need. There is of course no hint of this BS rule on their web site.

Yelp
Final Follow up review: Took this company several weeks to finally realize I WAS RIGHT and they refunded my money but only after dealing with the credit card company. DO NOT go here!! They will rip you off and waste your time and energy. However, I kept it going to ensure businesses are held accountable. Wendy is the WORST "manager" dealing with customers and is very arrogant. But guess what, Wendy....I win.

Yelp
Winter is still here and our friends invited us for a two hour tubing. I love tubing specially on a prone position... it gives you the illussion you are going downhill really fast. I will get back here next time with my daugher and try their ski lessons. This place is less crowded as compared to poconos and is a lot closer to me.

Yelp
This is a fun ski area for the kids that's a short drive from New York City. They have skiing and snowtubing. The place is not that big, but they had decent seating and food.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends to go snow tubing . I loved how close its to NYC and the price wasn't bad ($25 for two hours). It was really easy process you get there sign some waiver forms and off you go. Everyone that worked there young but helpful. We had a lot of fun and will be coming back.

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday to do some snow tubing. Pros: Close to home about 30 minutes from the GW Bridge. Snow tubing for $24/person for 2 hours ($10 to rent helmet). Conveyor belt which brings you up the hill. I felt the lines moved pretty well. Free parking. They have a snack bar, but just bring your own lunch. Anytime I had a question, there was a staff person around. Cons: After 12 pm, the place gets pretty crowded. Snow can be very icy. The staff mostly consists of young people who sometimes didn't have an answer or didn't know what to do. To piggyback off that point: During my second run, the staff person pointed out that I looked ready to go due to my enthusiastic stance. Then when he told us to go he inexplicably said "3,2... JUST KIDDING!". This forced me to stop suddenly and jam my foot. The pain was intense, but I didn't want to be the guy carried off the mountain by the ski patrol. Due to the pain, I probably should have went to the lodge and asked for my money back, but I carried on with this thought in mind: "Getting workers in the form of kids usually stinks, so just know what you're doing/where you're going so you don't need their help & you should be good." This would be my advice for anyone going to Campgaw.

Yelp
We brought tickets for 4 people to go tubing Saturday. I found out today that the school I teach at had a positive case of covid and I had been expose to that person. We called them Friday to let them know that we had been expose and might either need a refund or push back so that we are keeping everyone safe. Their response was they can't honor us next visit as it's past 48 hours and no refund. Which means we either waste our money or go anyway and risk possibly spreading covid to everyone. This company need to reconsider their policy and put people's safety first. We decided to waste our money to keep everyone safe and hopefully can get our money back through our credit card.

Yelp
This was my first and last experience at Campgaw mountain. DISCLAIMER** i only went here to ski. Therefore, i do not know what lies on the snow tubing portion of this mountain. I have been skiing for ten years, and out of all of the places i have been to, campgaw was by far the worst. Let me start off, by saying their attitude shows that they think they are the best thing since popcorn. They had only ONE slope open when i went. The top portion was all ice and the other half was just a straight route so it wasn't much fun. All of the parts not covered in snow, were muddy and gross. The staff did not seem like they knew what they were doing when it came to giving my boyfriend his snowboard. If you looking for a resort to ski/snowboard in, this is not the one for you. I suggest places in Vermont and even Pennsylvania where it's colder. This place is better for kids or adults who aren't really good at snow sports.

Yelp
We have been coming to Campgaw for the past 4 years and this will be our last. The staff they have working were absolutely rude! Called my son an idiot. Hey idiot are you going to put the tube back! Threatened,... don't even try and walk towards me, you'll see what happens. Yelling like Sargents... move, move, move like if they were moving cattle. We took 5 kids and all came off saying how rude and mean they were! They all said they don't ever want to go back there. When I told the man in charge, not sure if was an owner, he was almost laughing, didn't really give the impression that it was concerning to him.

Yelp
A small neighborhood mountain that was good to check out once, but I'm not sure that I would be a regular here. This would be a good ski area to learn how to ski for the first time, as there is a daily limited vertical drop and small number of trails. The two ski lifts are antiques and are in desperate need of being replaced. The beginner lift suffers from long lines and frequent stops, likely because there is a mid station where many of the guests unload. On their website the boast a decent number of trails, but in reality, there is only one wide primary slope running down the hill between the two lifts, plus a small expert slope at the far right that turns into a handful of narrow beginner trails at the bottom. There did appear to be a former trail on the left hand side of the mountain, but I didn't see any evidence that they attempted to open it last season. For what it is, being the closest mountain to New York City (even having a view of the city from the beginner lift), it does its job- but this is definitely not big mountain skiing, and you're likely to get bored with the trail offerings after an hour or two. Still; a good place to learn before moving into other mountains.

Yelp
This was the only place we could find that still had lessons available. It is small but good enough for people who need to learn or who already ski or snowboard. They also have a small cafeteria with potato cheese soup, hotdogs, burgers, chicken tenders and fries.

Yelp
It was ok. Today the temperature was around 44 F Snow was melting and we got wet and dirty. I strongly recommend to watch a live cam before heading to the mountain.

Yelp
If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Staff is unbelievably rude. The few ski trails they have are icy and very short. Takes longer to go up then down. Wouldn't come back. Last year was a mess with Covid. Doesn't look better this year.

Yelp
Nice place to come with the family for a day trip the place is not huge but big enough if you have small kids or if it's your first time learning to ski or snowboard there's plenty of free parking and decent food to eat while you wait

Yelp
NOTE: This review is for hiking in Spring, not skiing / snowboarding. I went here for a hike over the weekend and it was enjoyable. I think if you're looking for mountains with viewpoints / rocky areas, go nearby to Ramapo Mountain State Forest or Norvin Green State Forest, but this was fun if you just want to fit in a quick hike. The ski slope definitely makes it pretty unique for the area, and hiking around the chairlift was really cool. There's also a disc golf course here and a few picnic areas. It looks like lots of people had their dogs here for exercise. I'd come back for a nice, easy hike.

Yelp
First time here today for kids skiing lesson. Group lesson as the private sold out within 12 minutes ! Kids loved it and all the staff were so nice, from tickets, rentals, lodge, food. We had Ed as the instructor and he was super sweet. We figured out things by ourselves but had to ask around a bit however that was fine. There were signs everywhere. Mountain is small so you can navigate easily. What surprised me was the other parents. There weren't any aggressive crazy type A parents which are omnipresent for kids activities and that shocked me. This mountain has a lot of kids. It was a pleasant experience and I highly recommend if you want a place close to the city and easy drive.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in Jersey. I came here over the winter for snow tubing with a small group and we had a blast!! We got about 6-8 rides in. The tubs they use have a hard shell and if you get to ride down with that it's a lot faster! After our first ride with the shell they said it was too fast and they took them off ... major disappointment as we watched a few people get stuck without the shell, but I'm sure it's for the safety of the guests. There are two sides to go up that filter into 6 or so lanes at the top. There always seems to be one side that moves faster than the other. The staff is very helpful and especially if you want to link up with others just loop your chains and enjoy. Keep in mind you pay for a 2 hour window and they are very strict on letting you in on the hour mark exactly so choose wisely.

Yelp
Very poorly run. Lots of teenagers standing around that seem to be employees but they are dressed like customers. Booked a two hour tubing session for 2/26/2021. It was so crowded we only did 5 runs in two hours. To get back on line you have to go through a maze that just extends the time spent dragging a tube. The magic carpet lift was shut off for several of the runs so we had to drag the tubes all the way up the hill. Go to mountain creek or the poconos. They're just as close and a better value.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the snow tubing, my family and I along with 58 others in our party went tubing Friday night 2/12/21. The tube run was terrible we could have crawled down the run faster than tubing. They should have cancelled the run that night because it was terrible. When I complained to management and asked for a refund or discount tickets because it was so bad I was told they could not help me and that they are not responsible for poor conditions Not worth going If they don't keep up with the conditions, waste of money
