Nothing like it. Very special place.
Camping under the Atomium.
The volunteers were incredibly kind and accommodating.
Last night we had a round table gathering of one person from at least: Portugal, France, England, Austria, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Morocco, Switzerland and USA.
This is very much an alternative camping site as the website suggests, in a great way. It’s also very DIY. A lot of incredibly special people came through of all walks of life.
There was no hard drug use inside the campsite at all. Some good laughs and drinks were shared by many. Everyone was friendly and cool.
I stayed nine nights which was a fantastic change of pace from three weeks of wild camping. The park it’s located in is so amazing. Planetarium, Japanese Tea Garden, World Tree Garden, Beer Garden.
The facility cleanliness was fine, though the showers could use a thorough detail. And the floor mats should be bleached.
The nightly street racing is the only real issue, though this is completely out of Camping 58’s control -
it’s the irresponsibility of the Belgian police who who permit it. Two phone calls and they’re gone. Putting speed bumps would be a wise idea for Brussels (given it’s literally under the Atomium), and it would solve the issue. Ear plugs recommended
