A 3 night stay in early October. Camping is weather dependent and October can be variable. Our first night was interrupted by a storm that actually brought down branches from the trees that cover this campsite, almost, completely. Bare this in mind.
When looking up a campsite one tends to chose based on whether it's on your route to somewhere you are going, or it's near a place you would like to visit.
Camping Aquileia fits the second reason for us. It is within easy walking distance of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A beautiful, tranquil and calming place to take your time visiting.
Unfortunately Camping Aquileia lets itself down dramatically. It is totally unsuitable for out of season inclement weather. The site is muddy, the trees cover almost everything, the facilities are open to the elements. The utility lighting on site is poor at best, and in some areas non-existent. The comfort pitches are basically double the size of the standard pitch, so if it's been raining you've got double the mud, and the 'comfort pitches' are the ones with no lighting that just happen to be by the fence that faces the Basilica grounds. Oh and they are not included the ACSI price deal. So one night on a standard pitch 2 nights on a comfort pitch, 2 adults and a dog 133.80€. Our previous site was literally on the Adriatic, beach view, pristine facilities, hardstanding and tarmac roads, utility lighting, for 4 nights, 117.49€. And our site after Camping Aquileia on Lake Garda, beach view, good facilities, hardstanding and tarmac roads, utility lighting everywhere for 3 nights 81.71€.
Camping Aquileia should not be opening in the autumn, it is not fit for purpose. There were other things wrong but I've run out of willpower. And the only reason I give it one star is because it's close to Aquileia.
PS. The Capannina restaurant is a big bonus. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the staff and food.
