This is a basic campground just beside the popular Geysir Geothermal Area at Haukadalur. It is a good little spot to park for the night if you want to explore the geothermal area late at night or early in the morning taking advantage of the long summer days. Camping rates as of June 2025 are 2500kr per person, 1200kr for electricity and 400 per unit tax. There are showers are avail from 8-11am and 5-9pm, pay at reception. Communal building at reception includes toilets, outside but sheltered sinks, waste collection, showers, washing machines. There is a children playground area. Camping is on grassy area to the side and back of the reception building. Quite a bit of space for parking so likely plenty of space regardless of how late in the evening you arrive.

Campsite next to Geysir area, we parked up on the gravel parking area Infront of facility block as the grass areas were nice within trees but quite wet or flooded. It is next to quite a busy road so there is traffic noise. Facilities are heated or covered reasonable clean and hot water available, no kitchen area just washing up area. There is a reception area it cos us 5333isk for a campervan and 2 adults without electric hook up. One of the most expensive sites we stayed on but it is next to the Geysir area a couple of minutes walk away.

We had a great stay at Camping Geysir. Beautiful location a 5 minute walk to the hot springs and Geysir area with a path through the woods. Camping amenities were plentiful. There is a washer and dryer for 300 ISK each, which is much less expensive than our campsite in Reykjavik. Bathrooms were clean and plentiful. Showers cost extra and we didn’t use them, but looks like a nice sized hot water tank. If you have kids, there is a playground with a zip line, side, swings and plenty of space to run. The campsite is grass with lots of electric hook ups. It wasn’t too busy during our visit. Not all sites were level, but it wasn’t overly difficult to get it sorted. Covered kitchen wash station, dumping station for Motorhomes and fresh water fill up. It had everything we needed!

Great camping. Nice plenty clean toilets, hot water to wash hands, shower for extra pay, laundry machines present. Electricity on campsite. Hot water to do dishes. Friendly staff. Walking distance from Geysir park, visitor center, restaurant and shops. Also play garden for children on site.

Really nice camp ground not too busy. They have laundry and a playground next to the site. The Geysir was really cool to watch it was like a ten min hike from the campsite.

Great spot with 2 young kids. Quality playground with a zipline. Used the washer and dryer for 500kr each. Showers were hot and spacious. Just 2 minutes walk to Geysir.

Pretty basic campground but the location right at Strokkur is convenient. Strokkur was our first stop of the following day so this allowed us to make breakfast then walk around Strokkur while leaving our van at the campground. Showers not included.

The location is excellent but! It is really overpriced - so far the most expensive campsite in Iceland. And there is no kitchen and no wifi. Plus you have to pay for the shower!
