We stayed at the site for a couple of nights. Not being able to book meant that we missed a day in Brugge in order to be at reception which opened at 2pm, hoping to get a pitch. I didn't like this as it involved a lot of uncertainty and that every other person in the carpark while waiting could've nabbed the last spot. Well, there were plenty of pitches available, but these filled up as the day went on.
Buses in Brussels are pretty poor, especially when returning to Grimbergen. The last bus left the city centre at just after 5 and dropped us off at the Grimbergen station, the connecting bus going past the campsite didn't show up but amazingly the driver looked out for us and drove us in his car. It wasn't a life or death situation but it was another kind act by a Belgium person.
So if you plan to arrive and see the city on the same day as arriving, you'll struggle unless you catch reception early and there's space. Brussels has clean air zones and cycling into the centre from Grimbergen would be difficult and I don't think our bikes would've been safe. Sorry, back to the site!
The facilities were immaculate. Great showers, Clever design, all maintained perfectly. The men's toilets smelt like the chemicals were particularly harsh but then again, I'm not the kind of guy who needs to spend lots of time in communal toilets. Apparently, the women's were fine and I prefer to smell these chemicals rather than what everyone ate from the last few days.
Tips: Some pitches aren't particularly level, so bring chocks just in case.
Bring an extension lead if powering up as some pitches are quite far away from electric points.
