Wonderful camping location directly on the beach. The facilities are totally sufficient for a campsite. I liked especially that there is so many showers and toilets. You can hand wash your clothes or give it to the laundry service of the neighbouring hotel (1.500 franc). Be prepared that there is roosters and very noisy nocturnal birds. Bring your ear plugs if you are sensitive. I really enjoyed my stay, met wonderful people and will definitely try to come back. Highly recommended.

Peaceful campsite with great facilities. Right next to a public beach with steps down so you can go straight for a swim.

Amazing camping, clean and tidy, just in front of the ocean. Awesome view for sunsets. Kitchen, wifi, showers, toilet, etc. It's next to the grocery store restaurants. Laid back atmosphere. Totally recommend. (2500 xpf per night person in tent)

stop blaming the attitude of the managers. it's true, they are not friendly. but it is the only camping on the island, you can find gardens to set up your tent in local houses on airbnb... but for the cheap price, who cares about the smile or not of the managers? you will see them 5mn when you arrive and when you leave. they don't bother. ||otherwise..... the location is perfect. the field is clean, the equipments are great, bathrooms are clean, and it is quiet. the access to the beach is a must, and watching the sunset from the camping is also a must

We stayed here in October 2015 and it was the best budget option we could find in Hauru Point. The place is very basic, but functional. The toilet block had a lot of showers and toilets and was fairly clean. The location is really convenient, just on the beach and there are picnic tables to sit on throughout the green. There is also wifi that works across most of the area. No real complaints, it's budget and basic, but good value.

The sunset was right in front of the beach, incredible stunning view! You can camp here or choose a room, please choose a room with fan. Shower room was good, I saw some comment complained about laundry, since I am a backpacker, I washed it by hand at the sink and hang my clothes outside the room, no problem. There was a shop nearby, you can buy grocery there, and cook in the kitchen. There were few cats in the kitchen, very cute. The sea water was very clean, you can snorkel anytime, I saw sea anemones all the time. A very peaceful place, while my leaving, I didn't check the bus time correctly, and miss the only one bus to the airport, I did hitchhike and arrived the airport luckily.

I remember it costing about NZ$20 to $25 per night to camp. The facilities were decent and the grass was soft. There were also plenty of people staying there or nearby to socialise with, and it's quite close to the shops and bus stop. The camp site is on the beach of the lagoon, which is an excellent location. Tips: Bring sunscreen, it's ridiculously expensive. And so are fizzy drinks, so buy your duty free so that you don't need fizzy mixers

Overall, I'd say this is a good and affordable option for young travellers. Pretty beach right by the property and a short walk from a market, roulette's and a few hotels that you can take whale watching tours form and rent kayaks/paddle boards. The owners were a little strange and won't help you out with anything other than checking you in, but they were pretty chill when I lost the key to my room. My only real issue was that I was a single female traveling alone and their son, who is 34 or thereabouts, was ALWAYS wasted in the evenings. My first impression of this pension was walking to the beach and having him and causin start cat calling me. Later that night, he went looking for me and found me in my room, in my pajamas and asked me to come drink rum with him and wouldn't leave until I promised to come find him later (which was a lie obviously ). I don't think I need to explain why this was inappropriate. This happened again during my stay. Also, one night he played music super loud until 4 in the morning and there were families with little kids and babies camping and staying in the rooms. Also totally inappropriate. He's a nice enough guy but just way too over the top and inappropriate when he's wasted, which is every evening during the week and ALL weekend long, no exaggeration. Anyway, the other people staying there were awesome. The daughter of the owners was really nice, just the son gettin wasted and coming to my room in the night was an issue for me.
