On an off road motorcycling tour of the Pyrenees, I intended to stop for one night, but stopped for four. It's a small traditional campsite which gives it a unique personality when compared to the big impersonal holiday complexes so prevalent in Europe. The hosts Anna and Jesus were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the intimate bar restaurant, very cool. Food was homemade, salads were exceptional, good beers and wines, and the music, not intrusive, was very much to my taste. My intention was to ride 'The Smugglers Trail', an ancient track that takes you into Andorra. Three hours later, two river crossings, and the end in sight, I was stuck in snow, and regretfully had to turn back. With more snow forcast, I regretfully said goodbye, sadly my adventure took its toll on my motorcycle. I'm writing this review, sat in the bar of one of those big impersonal holiday campsites waiting for my ferry home. My motorcycle is in a thousand parts in another town in Spain, and I very much wish I was sat in the bar at Riberies, drinking an ice cold San Miguel Selecta, listening to the music, with a fully functioning motorcycle outside.The dog, Socrates, very much instills the camp vibe, friendly, but cool, not intrusive or demanding, although happy to roll onto his back so you can scratch his belly.
Improvements, communal fridge to keep perishable food stuffs in, although Anna did offer me the use of the one in the bar. Hope to see the three of you again soon. X
