Beautiful campsite, one of the nicest I have seen, surrounded by trees and two large rocks, nice hot showers included in price, ok clean toilets.
Staff professional but not super-happy it seems, headed by a man with the all too well-known spirit of an old-school headmaster or life guard at a public swimming pool; we are all doing it wrong, visitors included, and he doesn’t have the patience for it.
There’s a small pool but it is only open from 11-19. I missed being able to get good French coffee but you can order fresh bread, there’s a small grocery store and a slightly air conditioned room with a fridge and a drinks machine.
Despite the few drawbacks, I give it top rating because of the grounds, the showers, general cleanliness, and the location near the exquisite big village / small town Avallon with many nice restaurants and old streets. It’s a steep but pretty 20-25 minutes walk up there if you don’t go by car.
