We decided to buy a vehicle cargo box from Campmor after researching the best way to go about getting one, when you know nothing about them. They have a display of numerous models out to view and the staff are super helpful. Paul, our sales person, was very knowledgeable spent a good amount time helping us understand the benefits and drawbacks of each variation. After we decided upon the model, they installed the box on the roof of our car. The whole process took 20 minutes. Don't hesitate. These guys are the best. It's a great sporting goods store too. Amazing experience!

Google
Had great shopping experience at campmor today. Great place to buy a ski helmet. Worked with Paul and he knows every thing to know about the proper fit of a ski helmet. And by the way, 25% less than the guys on Amazon. Great old time retail experience!!

Google
Great store for outdoors. The only caveat is that they're a bit expensive. Still they're cheaper than rei so I guess they can't be that bad. It would be nice if they had a program for returning customers to give them big discounts (especially for first responders). They would definitely get more customers. Especially with the nearby competition from 5.11, Ramsey outdoors and others that offer similar services.

Google
My rating is strictly as an online customer. Found a pair of boots that I liked reasonably priced. Unfortunately they did not fit well so I had to return them. The low rating for this company is due to the fact you have to pay for your own returns. If I were to do it over again, I would buy from other places that have a better return process which is free. Amazon DSW Dick's Cabela's. If you're wanting to buy local, I'm sure this place is probably fine. I will say I asked the question in email and they got back to me in less than 24 hours.

I visited Campor the first time today for their customer appreciation day. We received a few free items, free food, and purchased an Osprey Stratos 24 backpack 25% off. The Osprey rep was incredibly helpful and never pushy in sizing us for a backpack and even showing us some of their competitors' products in the store that he thought could serve us well. We did decide on the Osprey. :) Everyone at the store was very nice, and we look forward to picking up more gear there in the future

Google
I called this place to make sure they had what I needed. The guy who answered was super helpful and offered to set it aside from me. The lady at the register was super patient and courteous when I asked to split the payment 3 ways. They have some REALLY cool stuff and a great staff! Everything you need to get back on those trails! 👍👍 I really miss the tent display. As a kid I used to play in them and try to convince my mom that THIS was the tent we NEEDED. Was excited to bring my kid here to do the same thing... times change. Still a great store.

You can't go wrong going to the store. Everything you want for outside adventure is here. The staff is always friendly and willing to help.

I haven't been there since the late 90's and it looked almost exactly how I remembered it. Plenty of items to choose from for everyone's outdoor needs. I picked up a pair of Keen hiking boots.

Yelp
Campmor has excellent selections in quality camping, hiking, biking, many recreational sports from land and water. They can get what you need, from gear/equipment/ books/ maps to clothing/ footware and more. Their service is excellent all of the employees are first-hand experienced in multiple areas, there's a repair shop, hiking groups, field classes and networking. They are a wealth of knowledge, you always get the right help you need. I have been coming to their Paramus store since the early 1980s. I lived in New England for a few years, and made several trips during that time so I could get certain items from Campmor, as do my N.E. friends. I know I am well taken of from a business who treats me with the utmost respect for forty plus years and counting. Thank you. PK

Yelp
I have used Campmor on a number of occasions. I have appreciated the value of the merchandise they sell and how quickly the products arrive. But buyers beware if you were buying shoes or boots. Unlike those, you might buy from a shoe store, if you use them any more then you would in trying them on in a retail setting, they will not accept any returns or exchanges. I bought a pair of Keen boots that I had tried on a local store. They seem to fit okay but my feet were in pain after one day. The boots did not get dirty or wet or scuffed. Nonetheless, the rep call them "used" and told me it was clearly stated in their warranty. Typical fine print. Be that as it may, you will get much better service and satisfaction buying directory from a brick and mortar store. Keep your dollars local!

Yelp
Campmoor has been around since I was a kid. Got my first backpack here. Since then, I have done a lot of camping. Good prices and selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lots of parking. Catalog sales too. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Campmor is a great place to find quality outdoor equipment at a fair price. I've been camping and backpacking for about 50 years (God I'm getting old) and enjoy the outdoors immensely. I live out west now, but I use to live in NJ and visited the store a few times. Great people and great equipment!! Understand it's not mountaineering grade, but most of us don't need that level of performance (or cost). Mostly i buy tents and winter clothing from Campmor. I have 4 Eureka tents and I'm please with all of them. Recently i got the el Capitan 4 outfitter and i'm looking forward to taking it to Pagosa Springs, Colorado this Feb. Campmor makes it easy to compare products. Do yourself a favor and buy quality and you'll have it a long time. Oh, their service is great too. I got my latest tent delivered in 4 days.

Louis G.

Yelp
Very helpful and friendly! They really understand your needs and make solid effort to make sure you leave with what you genuinely need!

Paul V.

Yelp
The staff was extremely helpful to check inventory and help me install my cargo box. They even stayed late and let me use tools so I didn't have to drive another hour the next day. Great experience!

Christina Z.

Yelp
I feel scammed! I really needed a homestead domey tent footprint asap. It was out of stock almost everywhere but listed as available on campmor. So i wanted to get it for $45 but with $50 it would be free shipping. So I added a $5.29 item I didn't want to get free shipping.  But, I got an email saying the footprint was unavailable and refunded. So, I definitely at least wanted a $5.29 refund. Plus, it was a big waste of time and is delaying our camping trip.  I contacted customer service requesting a refund. But all they replied with was their return policy, where you have to pay for your own return shipping! Basically, all I got out of campmor was wasted time, lost money, and an unpleasant customer service experience.

Yelp
Is it just me, or does it feel like Campmor's heyday has long since passed ? I remember coming here as a youngster, and this playing be a MOB SCENE. Maybe that's because the 90s were a time when people still went camping? No idea.. The service was quick and courteous, and they had what I was looking for (solar powered lantern) ... but this may have been because I was the only customer in the store. The parking lot is big, but looks a bit shabby nowadays. Th entrance area could use a facelift. Next time I visit, I'll be sure to take a more thorough look around... because word on the street is this place still has everything!

Matt C.

Yelp
This is a 'Rona review for the store only: I first came here back in the day... 1992/1993 era... and "back den" the place was awesome, and remained awesome for years and years... They used to produce a lot of their own product line... vests, jackets, all kinds of stuff... Regretfully over the years they have been muscled out by places like Rei, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Amazon... Now the store is completely gutted and trimmed down and scaled back big time... The place is a ghost town. A third of the store (which use to contain pitched tents, canoes, coolers and other large gear) is now closed off as an "employees only area"... Now they've got really nothing. The swiss army knives section - gone. Watches - gone. Climbing gear etc... gone. Shoes and boots, barely anything.. It's not worth the trip anymore. It's sad to see what happened to the store, very sad, and very disappointing and down-right depressing.

Lad B.

Yelp
This used to be THE go to place for anything outdoors. On this visit there was very limited stock on just about everything. It almost seemed like they were having a going out of business sale. The prices are still outrageously high. The parking lot could use a repaving and striping. Very friendly staff. Curbside pick up available due to Covid.

Kim F.

Yelp
This place is great we bought our luggage box and it's awesome. We did the extra install package, let me tell you it's so worth it! The guys were fast and super knowledgeable. I'm pretty sure I would have been frustrated doing it myself. Paul and Tahhir were on their A game! I will be coming back here for all my outdoor needs.

Chris S.

Yelp
Loved this store since i was a child. In 2020 their shelves were pretty empty and I thought they were closing their doors but im glad they're still around. Always glad to give them the business over an rei or amazon.

Bob S.

Yelp
A friend and I were looking for some camping/backpacking items. We started by going to Gander Mountain in Middletown NY. The parking lot was eerily empty. Gander Mountain is no more. We decided to try Campmor in Jersey about 50 miles from Middletown. We hadn't been there in years and used to get catalogs regularly. So we called first. They were open! It's still outdoor's persons store and none of the pretense, some outdoor store have. The staff are not sales people. They are people who can actually answer questions because the use the items they sell. The best part is that there are full size tents. Not little mockups on a shelf. More than one brand of many things you might need for a stay in the woods or on the water. The selection of backpacks is so varied that picking the right one is daunting. No problem, the staff can guide you to what is better for your needs and not the most expensive. It may be over an hour from upstate New York but it's worth the trip. The only problem is the state road it's on. The traffic pattern South is a little confusing and the drivers already on the road don't leave room for error. Luckily I learned to drive in NYC.

Richard H.

Yelp
Take off a star if you are NOT a past fanboy/fangirl of this legendary outdoor store. I think it is still worth a visit if you are a true outdoor enthusiast. Campmor has always been a down to earth, fair-value priced outdoor store with knowledgeable enthusiastic staff. However, the inventory on display is now only about 1/3 to 1/4 the stock I remember in its heyday. It is still a worthy place to visit. Prices are always fair, and I continue to find the staff terrific to deal with. The stock on display is now slim pickin's, but I am only too glad to transfer money to this once great retail location.

Thomas V.

Yelp
We have not been in this store for 4 years after having a bad experience. Things have not changed! My wife and I were in shoe department the older gentleman working 10/16 was completely rude and disrespectful to my wife. No one should be treated that way. We will never return!! If I could give this place no stars I would.

Yelp
This is my number one national resource for SERIOUS top quality out door activity ( clothing boots also) all season. My now 97-year-old Einstein Med School prof of Biochem father started shopping here in 1960 for ALL our years of camping hiking canoeing equipment needed in the Adirondacks, Cape Cod and Nova Scotia‼ Gggreat childhood memories ! In college we took a "drive away car" off the assembly line in Detroit then drove from Ann Arbor with our 70-pound back packs to Eugene, Oregon where we then hitchhiked to visit a cousin in San Francisco. A few days later we hitchhiked to Vancouver BC to catch a one- way ticket through MAJESTIC MAGNIFICENT life changing Jasper on the now long gone Canadian National Rail, getting off for the best camping of my life then getting back on ( part of the same ticket therefore free) aaalllll the way through Sasakatoon and Saskatchewan to just above Detroit. WHAT a life altering forever imbedded phenomenal trip ‼‼ My portable single burner Swedish stove, my incredible mummy bag filled with the best down, my hiking boots, my super comfortable hip supporting back pack and frame, windblock parka, canteen, portable super light two person tent etc etc all from Campmore ( don't forget the 100 % now very soft cotton liner for the sleeping bag). I STILL have most of these items and my 30-year-old daughter used them in 2003 to present in our Boundary Waters of Nirthern Minnesota ( been here 17 years from Westchester County via Virginia). My dad was a very serious mountain climber-- Cascades Tetons etc and was a member of the Harvard Mountaineering Club. He was SUPER OCD about quality . I followed his footsteps all these years to Campmore as well.

Sandy D.

Yelp
Outstanding customer service. I was looking for a reasonably priced pair of ski pants for a last minute trip (I haven't skied in 15 years). I ordered a pair online but they were too snug for layers, so I called the store and the woman dug out 3 pairs for me to try after work. #1 was the instant winner. Also picked up liner gloves, sunglasses and a clip for my jacket to hold mittens.

Cid H.

Yelp
Came to clarify that Campmor is NOT closed as a previous reviewer has suggested. They are open and stocked. I went today (Saturday noon) with my partner to buy new backpacking packs and sleeping bags. Lots of staff members were there and they were all extremely helpful in helping us select the right packs for our trip and comfort. They spent a great deal of time with us packing the bags with sandbags so we could try them with the weight we intend to carry. They also gave us handy tips and recommended we keep our tags on the bags until we fully pack them to make sure they will work for our trip. As another reviewer has mentioned, they are honest employees who aren't there to sell you on the most expensive item or push an agenda. They clearly have a lot of knowledge and experience and go by what is the right fit and budget for you. I was shopping for my first backpacking trip and I'm so glad we went out of our way to go to a brick and mortar store with a fantastic reputation. The staff and their knowledge is what makes this a far superior experience to shopping online. What looks great in a product photo is a completely different beast when you get it on your back with 30 lbs. Does it dig into your shoulder? Is it the right size and length? True capacity? Furthermore, I checked prices online after I came back and Campmor had comparable prices and often better deals! For the similar price of shopping online, I cannot recommend going to Campmor enough for the staff's attention and expertise, shopping experience, and karma of supporting an independent store. Will definitely go back for my future outdoor trekking needs and supplies.

Yelp
I have been a long time Campmor customer and it's always been my go to place to get gear. However, during the past year and a half I had given up on the store, the store shelves were empty and it seemed like it was ready to go out of business. I am now happy to say that Campmor is BACK!!!!!!! The store now has the old feel to it with great variety and is well stocked, even most of the sections that were closed off are now full of the usual gear. I am so happy that Campmor is it's old self, you can now even earn points for future discounts!!!

Yuri Y.

Yelp
Looks abandoned -- even closed from the outside as you squirt past on Route 17 traveling North -- but this supplier of sports, camping and outdoor gear is decidedly open for business -- with plenty of stock to suit most anyone -- especially the budget conscious. This is not REI -- so don't expect hoity toity brands and pricing. That said -- they do stock some very well curated camping and outdoor gear, limited cycling paraphernalia and plenty of outdoor odds and ends -- at very fair prices. Lots of camping and biking stuff on sale now -- especially good on tents and sleeping bags -- also great pricing on cycling shoes and accoutrements -- as they are closing this department. Top Tip: For best bargains shop now -- as new stock is coming -- and with better weather -- expect the retail pricing on everything to increase accordingly.

Yelp
Campmor WAS one of the legendary names at one time, ranking (almost) with LL Bean. I don't know if it's the COVID, the internet, Amazon or whatever....but Campmor isn't what it was. As most ardent campers know, unless you physically damage a LL Bean product, they will replace it under their lifetime warranty. I recently returned a rain suit to Campmor. It is admittedly perhaps ten years old, but worn no more than three times. It is physically undamaged, labeled "100% Guaranteed Waterproof" and it leaks like Muslin (a very slight exaggeration). A couple of weeks after I sent the rain suit to Campmor, it was returned to me with a letter explaining that my claim is beyond their 90 day warranty. 'nuff said? Make your own decision. Campmor or a company that cares.

Yelp
Outdoor , camping mega store. Took a buddy here to check out some laptop backpacks. They have a big selection of packs and a whole lotta stuff for the ourdoorsy type person. The sales assistance is great. The folks here are very knowledgeable about their products and can help you find that thingy you so desire to make your life better. People are nice, they kinda leave you alone and let you browse and are attentive if you need assistance

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
As a gal who lived in Colorado for five years, I smirked at the thought of an outdoor/camping store in New Jersey that could compare to some of the megaliths out West. Then I met Campmor. Located off the most unscenic highway ever, this outpost located next to a EMS stands tall. They have everything and prices are solid. I was going in for some hiking boots and found a great pair. I quickly did a search on the trusty iphone to see if it was cheaper other places, it wasn't. I did this with a pair of Hunter boots as well and Campmor was the same price as the lowest price online and I can buy them in person after trying them on! What! Also noted is they are super well staffed. There are young guys everywhere ready to help ya out. I think on a Saturday I saw about 10-15 employees standing/running around making trying on and buying shoes a super easy process. Going through the various sections of the store I saw 40 different types tents, 20 kayaks, 30 sleeping bags, and so much more; it was awesome! Awesome until I wanted to buy everything and have the most pimp camp site ever, but I refrained since I currently go camping 0x a year. Instead, I look forward to planning a future camping trip knowing that my next visit to Campmor I'll need to buy some gear and I'll know I'll have the best!

Ian W.

Yelp
Great outdoor store! My Dad and I have been shopping at Campmor for many years. We'd make special shopping trips to Campmor from Upstate NY to browse the selection and buy lots of camping equipment such as frame backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, stoves, cooking pots, pocket knives, compasses, flashlights, raingear, clothing, hiking boots, and other items. We also shop the mail order catalog too. Back in the 1990s, we were also responsible for buying the camping gear for my local Boy Scout troop and we shopped at Campmor first. I still wear my Campmor blue raincoats, which keep me very dry in heavy downpours. CLOSED on Sundays due to Blue laws.

Katherine P.

Yelp
Before I lived in the area, I used to get catalogs from Campmor. It's a place I was always interested in visiting. Now, I live only about 30ish minutes away, so we decided to take a drive over to Paramus and check this place out. This place is pretty rad. It's not much to look at from the outside at first, a bit shabby. The inside is a warren. One direction is camping gear, another direction is clothing, and a third direction is cycling. We spent a lot of time just wandering around the store, checking out all the stuff. And there's a lot. They've got more stock than REI, EMS, and MEC (Canadian version of REI.) If there's a place that has a stock level that is similar, it's probably the Canadian chain SAIL. There are rows and rows of tents, shelves of books and maps, which is one of my favorite things to browse at camping stores. One of the really nice things with the maps is they had a place to browse the maps, mounted like posters, so it was easy to see what is on a particular map. The employees are really friendly and almost too aggressively helpful, and very knowledgeable. The prices, especially if they are having sales, rival Amazon. If I had anything to complain about, it is their cycling section. The shop looked fine, but the overall selection was only ok. I think that overall though, if you're a fan of camping gear, this is a place you need to stop at if you're in the area.

Wayne G.

Yelp
They have a lot of items in stock and are competitive, however it takes an act of congress for unsubscribing to their thunderstorm of emails. After dozens of tries with doing this on line and an email to customer service I finally got on chat and said I'd report them. So far it seems to have worked but we'll see. They are the most prolific email firm I'm aware of. They blew their rating by hassling me.

Jeff S.

Yelp
These guys are seriously good! I placed an order for a jacket at 4pm on Tuesday and I had it in my hands at 1pm on Wednesday! Unbelievably fast, and the item was just as described. With quick processing and shipping like this, I'll definitely be shopping with Campmor in the future.

Jessica O.

Yelp
This place has it all from day hiking trips to backpacking trips. It's large selection can be overwhelming at first but the staff is terrific, very knowledgeable and always willing to help make sure you're satisfied with your purchase. Hiking and camping equipment can be on the pricey side this place has all the brand names and sells them for about 5-10% off retail suggested price.

Glenn C.

Yelp
nice large store that still has the Little Place Feeling: As in Low Prices F*** Yeah.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
This is the absolute best place to go if you need any type of outdoor gear. I honestly try to avoid it since I spend a fortune every time I go here. All of the staff is amazing. They actually have hiked, camped backpacked, etc so they can provide honest answers to your questions. Plus they do not steer you automatically to the most expensive items. Quite recently I went with my son to purchase a new sleeping bag. His previous Northface bag had an issue with the zipper. When I explained this to the sales associate she instantly told me that Northface had a life time guarantee on their items and proceeded to provide me with all the info on how to return the bag. How nice is that? Sports Auhority would've tried to sell me a new expensive bag.

Mark D.

Yelp
I purchased a roof rack and cargo box from them over the weekend and they held onto it until I set the roof rack up on my car. I came back today and these guys helped put it on the car and walked me through how to install and uninstall. Not only are they knowledgeable but they are extremely professional

Mike P.

Yelp
I hate coming here for one reason only, i don't think ive ever walked out of here spending less then 100 bucks. Maybe i should go more often to prove that wrong, but might not be able to afford it. This place is awesome, they have everything you need and at prices that are more then competitive prices. I bought a sleeping bag liner for 25% less then the cheapest online price, also got a ground cloth and pack cover for about 15 bucks less then other places. Also if you need something these people know what there talking about, they helped me buy a very good pair of hiking boots last year that i don't regret buying and helped me labor though trying on wide pairs until i found a pair that fit. (a 12.5EEEE shoe is not an easy find especially since most companies don't my half sizes over 12!)

MandA R.

Yelp
Campmor gets 5 stars. Why because of the staff who sell you the right equipment at a fair price. Everyone who works here seems to know all of the products in the store but are experts in their department. They don't try to over sell you on products and name brands. The prices are reasonable especially in comparison to REI. If the store is out of stock it's not a problem, they will check the warehouse and send it to you. No shipping charge of course. We will be back. We will be back often.

Maria B.

Yelp
If you need anything camping related this is the place to come. People seem to make pilgrimages here but since it was in my usual travel route I did not have to do that. The people that work here are passionate about what they do, they know the equipment, they don't try too hard to upsell, this really is a great store. I have not used the online store so this review is for the actual brick and mortar store only. Parking is only ok.

Misha T.

Yelp
Big thanks to Dean in the Bike dept for helping me get a roof box on my car to help me haul my stuff back across America. He was super easy to work with and super informative.

Lindsey F.

Yelp
I made an online purchase of two pairs of Patagonia pants. I used the size chart when ordering. These pants were two-three sizes too big upon arrival. According to their packing return slip, If I needed to return the items, do so with the return slip and receipt. It said nothing about tags. I returned the items in the same week I purchased them. They said I had laundered the items and didn't have the tags. They didn't give me a full refund. They only refunded me for one pair and these pants were 80$ each. Tags should have been included as a requirement for full refund on the return slip mailed with the pants. When you have an online business you need to be more specific in your return policy wording and not steal money. I will never purchase from them again and beware others of buying clothing from them. They will probably say it was laundered as they did with me and not give you your full refund..

John K.

Yelp
I hadn't been in a long time and needed some things. For me getting up here is an ordeal.I have ordered online a number of times but it's fun to go to an actual store. The selection of all kinds of outdoor clothing and accessories is extensive. This is not a discount store but the prices are reasonable. If you something - anything of an outdoorsy nature- check here.

Edward S.

Yelp
Wanted to purchase an internal frame backpack. the fellow at the backpacking section was great. He didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. told me to go with the Osprey volt. He spent some time showing me all the adjustments on it. Very helpful. Awesome store.

Jeff J.

Yelp
Before the explosion of e-commerce, Campmor was the greatest outdoor store in the world. The printed catalogue was anticipated by adults like kids waiting for the Sears Wish Book to arrive in the mail before Christmas. The selection was vast and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable. If you were preparing to take the Cub Scouts camping in the county park or planning a climb up Everest, Campmor had the gear you needed. In 2020, I can type "trekking poles" into the Amazon search field and have hundreds of brands, models and prices delivered to my doorstep in 2 days. Campmor only sells poles by Leki (which are great BTW). The store is a sad shell of its former glory with a smaller footprint, sparse shelves and terrible store hours (11 am-4 pm) BUT all in all I'm glad it's still around because there are some things you shouldn't purchase online. I hike around 200 miles annually so I do not cut corners on hiking boots. Two years ago I bought boots online and regretted it, vowing never to do so again. I made the 45 minute drive to Campmor and the salesperson spent 90 minutes explaining how a boot should fit. He measured my feet, asked me about what trail conditions I'll be using the boots on and handed me 4 different boots for me to try on. We looked at different boot inserts and talked about our favorite hiking trails. He taught me what to feel and look for in a hiking boot. I also picked up a pair of microspikes and the clerk showed me why the brand I selected was a good choice and how to install them properly on my boots. You'd never get such customer service at a massive chain like Dick's and Campmor is more affordable and less snooty than REI (and just as far from my house). Campmor in 2020 has unfortunately been left reeling in the wake of the Internet and I really hope they hang on because there isn't an outdoor retailer near my house that has the customer service that Campmor still offers.

Joe M.

Yelp
There are only two places I shop for outdoor gear & clothing. Tent & Trails in Manhattan and Campmor. I hate to think how long I've been going to Campmor but it's 30+ years. From tents to kayaks to canoes to backpacks to hiking boots and every piece of camping gear has come out of Campmor. Even though some of this gear is 30+ years, they still work. When I need advise and/or recommendations, I don't think there is a better place. Always helpful staff.

Matt G.

Yelp
Purchased a Swiss Army Knife from them online. Great pricing, fast service to my home on the opposite coast. The knife arrived however missing one of the tools that it's supposed to include, and when I inquired with Campmor about providing me the missing piece, the "Customer Service" Rep informed me that Victorinox (manufacturer of Swiss Army Kinves) "doesn't include that item" and that the internet image on Campmor's own website which DID show it, was wrong and he then told me "we need to change that graphic." He offered me Victorinox's telephone number and told me "perhaps you can sweet-talk them out of the non-included piece" and implied that Campmor had no further interest in resolving the omission. I know more about this product than he did, and indeed that item IS included with that model, and DID call Victorinox who told me she'd mail me the missing tool. She also confirmed what I already knew....that piece should have been included with my purchase. Based on Campmor's "hands clean" approach to my issue I'll not spend another penny there and would warn anyone else considering Campmor that they were done with me once they hit my credit card and shipped my product. Caveat emptor....or Buyer Beware!

Yelp
Wow, what a great store!! Tons of quality sporting goods and selection! Great footwear, boating equipment and amazing camping supplies!

Do not have these guys work on your bike I had them do a complete overhaul on my mountain bike, it was expensive and they completely screwed it up. The gears don't hold. They jump in and out whether going up hill or just cruising but the worst is they can't even screw on a pedal. I just walked, and pedaled on one leg, 3 miles home because they put a pedal on wrong and it fell off while I was riding. Completely stripped the crank arm. I don't think they are mechanics I think they just hire anyone with tools who likes to work on bikes.

Yelp
I used to do business with Campmor all the time and thought a lot of the company. But I haven't needed any gear for a while so our relationship fell by the way. So I was really surprised by the Campmor I was met with when I placed an order yesterday. Shipping is $6.99, regardless of what I buy. I could purchase a bowling ball or a decal. It wouldn't matter. $6.99 flat. When I questioned that I got such a nasty attitude I was stunned. Furthermore, for $6.99 it took them three days to throw my dinky item into an envelope and a week beyond that to ship it. Unfortunately, they are the only company that carries the item I needed. It was either order from Campmor or forget my item for good. Fortunately for me that won't be true again. I will absolutely take my business elsewhere. I'm voting with my wallet. I play for good customer service. I don't pay to be treated like garbage. Goodbye Campmor, it was nice knowing you.

Yelp
Do you LOVE REI but hate having to pay a ton of $$? Campmor is the solution! Located in New Jersey, Campmor sells everything you need for enjoying the outdoors. Hats, external and internal frame backpacks, clothing, boots, knives, bug repellent, sleeping gear.... the list goes on and on. Prices are very reasonable and they have a great selection. There are so many specials going on that you really can't go wrong buying something from Campmor. They are my source for all my travel and hiking gear. AND- they have a flat rate for shipping and handling. So if you buy something huge and heavy, it will still cost you $6.95. Beat that, REI! (Only problem w/ Campmor is their e-mail newsletter. I've been trying for over a year to unsubscribe and I'm still getting them :| ) Check 'em out at www.campmor.com!

Yelp
An amazing local buisness! To this day I swear one of their employees might have dropped our package off on our door step- talk about delivery:) I was able to find two pairs of amazing snowshoes at a great price, no hassel, and I was happily supporting a "local" retailer. Plus, thier storefront will scare away the "glamping" croud just enough that you get real quality outdoors equipment. Keep it up!

Yelp
Backpacks, tents and boots...oh my! I don't think I've ever said this before and I probably never will again, but I wish I lived in New Jersey. More specifically, Paramus, New Jersey. The day I found Campmor.com online while browsing the interwebs for hiking/ backpacking equipment deals, everything changed...for the better. Yes, I still visit my local brick and mortar stores like REI and Adventure 16, but Campmor is an online force to be dealt with. Both price and selection are paramount when shopping for equipment and Campmor has both bases covered. Much like REI's website, Campmor's online store is laid out in a very organized and common sense fashion. They even have a "hot deals" section which lists heavily discounted items as well as returns or slightly blemished goods. If you order from their site and get on the their mailing list, they also send you this thick little catalog made out of newspaper like material with what looks like drawn images of the product they carry. It's phenomenal porcelain throne reading material. If you ever have any issues, their customer service is incredibly easy to deal with and I think based here in the US...local to New Jersey if I remember correctly. Maybe one day I'll get to visit one of their stores in the Garden State...maybe one day.

Yelp
Bought my first item through Campmor online. When I removed it from the envelope, the packaging had a handwritten tag stuck on the side stating the correct size. Thought that seemed odd--then when I took the item out of the package, it was *two* sizes off. Contacted them via the web site advising I would be returning the item for a refund (did not receive a reply), then followed their numerous instructions and returned the item today (made sure to get a tracking number). Will see how long it takes for a refund applied to my card. Also will see if they refund the shipping cost, as they claim they will do when the refund is caused by their error. Before buying from Campmor I had found the item from another seller for less, but due to a couple of issues with that seller's site I was concerned I might get an incorrect order, so ordered from Campmor instead. Gotta love the irony. Update: They did refund the amount of the item, plus 60% of the shipping cost. Their return policy states 'we will refund the POSTAGE if the return is due to our error'. No doubt the 40% They did not refund was a 'handling' charge--however, I will still contact them as the invoice does not differentiate 'shipping and handling' and the return was due to their error. I have read a lot of bad reviews for them going back at least to 2010 and notice they have a D- rating with the Better Business Bureau--normally I read reviews first but this time I didn't. My one--and only--Campmor experience is a good reminder to check out the seller first.

Yelp
While searching for a new bicycle for my 10 year old son we started at Dick's which had no selection and no clue, Sports Authority which was better but we still couldn't find what we wanted. We then tried local bike shops which were unanimously horrible. Westwood Cycle, The Bicycle 2 both act like they are superior to you and are doing you a favor all for $400. Stopped in Campmor as a last resort. While they did not have a big selection they did have "Bob". This guy was fantastic, he took his time and even let my son try the bicycles in the parking lot. While I ended up spending more than I wanted, $500, I felt I got a vastly superior bike to the others I had looked at and the service that made me feel confident in my purchase.
