this park was named after a muslim leader who camped here in the 12th century while attempting to re-conquer madrid. having toured several cities in spain prior to arriving in madrid, i could see that many famous landmarks have a strong muslim influence.
located to the west of madrid's city centre, near the palacio real and jardines de sabatini, this park is lovely and i only wish i had more time to explore the gardens and study the trees and flowers here. there are several fountains and small ponds inside and it is a great place to stroll, walk, and jog...or just sit and admire the nature in front of your eyes. the park does close at dusk though (unlike other parks in madrid that close later) so be sure to depart before the gates are locked up for the evening.
