Campo Duro Ecolodge

Perfect place to just relax and enyoy nature, the host was so friendly really Did there best to make the stay wonderful. The food is a strong recommendation, it was great!

Campo Duro is the most beautiful place to spend a few nights on their amazing camp site. Tents are a decent size, and you are provided with a comfortable mattress, pillow, blanket and sheets. The restaurant serves a very nice breakfast with tropical fruits from the garden and eggs from the lodge’s own chicken. Lunch and dinner are also very good and tasty with most products grown at the farm. The big attraction is the giant tortoises on the lodge’s ground. It is incredible to observe these amazing creatures up close. I would love to go back to Campo Duro again on future travles.

We passed by this beautiful spot to have lunch on our way back from a tour to Sierra Negra. The food in the amazing restaurant built under an impressive huge mango tree is the best we have tasted on Isabela Island. We had chicken coocked in the big turtle shaped lava oven with veggies from the garden and tasty tropical fruit also from the garden.|We came back for more delicious food some days later. The whole lodge is amazing with a beautiful area for camping. Had we known before, we would have loved to stay here a few days. Also the possibility to observe the giant tortoises at the lodge is spectacular.

Loved this place and the giant turtles. Owners are really nice and helpful with tours and sharing their knowledge of the island. Big tent with comfy mattress. Sonia makes the best organic food ever with freshly made fruit juice from the garden.

We camped here for two nights and had a wonderful time. The location is far from town so the taxi ride is $10 each time. The tents were set up, clean, and had comfortable mattresses in them. Towels and bedding were already set up. We ate breakfast and dinner there each night - the food was simple yet delicious. They are also a turtle habitat, helping reacclimate them before they are release to the wild. We saw one huge one! The gardens are gorgeous, too. There are many chickens, roosters, and dogs in the area so bring your earplugs! There are indoor showers, but our group preferred to use the outdoor showers which area shielded with screening and landscaping. The host was so thoughtful. He arranged a cab to take us to some of the local sights including the Cueva de Sucre, Mirador el Mango, and the Posada de Flamengos. He also set up a screen tent in the field so we could star gaze at night. There is fresh, treated drinking water available and a place to charge your phones. Bring your bug lotion for the mosquitos. Cash only! Get cash before you come to Isabella. We were able to get cash sporadically in Puerto Villamil. There were only four in our group and had the place to ourselves. They can accommodate very large groups at this spacious place.

This place is like stepping into The Hobbit films with a rustic bar and dining area. My tour group stopped here for two nights and had a fantastic time. Including a brilliant camp fire beneath the stars( organised with the help of staff) ||||The camp is a private bus (or taxi) ride from the main town on Isabella. But it is worth it for the peaceful and rural location. ||||The food was excellent and the group served themselves. There was a lot of food at breakfast including pancakes and scrambled egg. ||||There were spaces for us to store our bags and dry our clothes after a day of snorkelling. The toilets and showers were clean but did tend to feature very large spiders lol. Understandably for the location the water is cold. ||||The tents were very comfortable with air matresses and blankets provided but I would recommend taking a small sleeping bag or sleeping bag liner.||||The camp have their own resident giant tortoises and a nature walk. ||||I love this place and would definitely stay again given an opportunity!

I spent an enjoyable night at Camp Duro, in a nice setting halfway up the volcano from Puerto Villamil, in the agricultural district of Isla Isabela (a $10 cab ride from town). The facilities are immaculate, and the restaurant is very attractive set beneath spreading mango trees. You do need to be prepared for tent camping, but my tent was roomy and the mattress under me perfectly comfortable - my only wish were fewer roosters crowing at night! The food is excellent, and groups use this as a lunch stopover on trips to the volcano. Overall a fun adventurous experience.

Although this campsite is a bit out of town, it's worth the drive. The grounds and common area are spectacular. The tents are spacious and the mattresses are super comfy. The staff are friendly and the buffet breakfasts are delicious! Just beware of the falling mangoes!!!
