CAMPTON KIYOMIZU

Just got back from an amazing stay at this place in Kyoto! We were looking for somewhere that would let us soak up the real Kyoto vibe while still being comfortable for sightseeing, and wow - this spot was perfect. The place has that classic old Kyoto feel, but inside everything was super clean and modern. All the latest amenities made our stay really comfortable - honestly the best of both worlds! I was so excited about the wooden bathtub, and it totally lived up to the hype! When you fill it up, this amazing woody scent just fills the whole bathroom - it's like being in the middle of a forest. So relaxing! The tatami room was perfect for just chilling out, and don't even get me started on how comfy the beds were. We kept oversleeping because everything was just so cozy! Daytime sightseeing is great and all, but seriously - take a walk around Kyoto at night when it's quieter. It's absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. This place gives you something you just can't get at regular hotels - it actually feels like you're living in Kyoto, not just visiting. Totally unique experience!

Really incredible space, traditional riyokan all to yourself! Two levels, very well preserved yet modern. The main bathroom includes a large wooden bath Japanese soaking bath, which was a nice treat after days with 20,000 steps. Even though the street it’s on is swarming with people you can’t hear a thing! Very set back - we had room 5 and would highly recommend. We got lucky in that the first night we did not have neighbors, the second night, the walls are very thin and you can hear nearly everything. I think room six would be the best for complete solitude if it’s available. Would absolutely stay again :)

Amazing location really lovely staff. Rooms look clean but there’s water damage to bathroom or laundry area on first floor - smells super strong of mustiness that indicates hidden mold that could be bad for sensitive people. I hope they fix it properly bc it’s a true gem. We were in the unit at the end #3 I think. The staff are truly lovely welcoming and helpful.

Hands down the best location in kyoto. Service wise, I would give 10 stars if possible. My family lost our passport in a taxi prior to checking in accomodation. We were so worried, but the host calmly guided us and wait at the police station together with us. If not with him, the best service of hotels.

Location is right at the heart of one of the busiest part of Kyoto but despite that when you go inside everything becomes serene. The room was spacious, clean and complete with amenities such as washing machine, oven, stove, it has one bath and 2 toilets. It’s perfect if you want to be extremely near the sites but do not care about the noise of other tourists.

Room was huge, definitely more than we expected. Very clean rooms. Location right smack next to the hokan-ji, so it might be a bit crowded but it’s where all the action is. The only bummer is that the accommodation is not staffed most of the time (or at least through our duration of stay) so it might be a bit difficult to get their assistance on anything. Otherwise great place, would recommend.

We found Campton Kiyomizu while researching our trip to Japan. When we arrived, we couldn't believe the location of the hotel! It is located very close to Yasakanoto and we can see it from our tatami room. I believe it's on the Sanenzaka and many folks were taking pictures including wedding photographers. Once we walk under the yellow "Noren" to get to the hotel front, it's much quieter. We stayed in room 1, which is the first one in the hall way. Since we were running around all day, and stayed upstairs at night, we did not notice any noise issues. It is very spacious and squeaky clean. It has all the necessary amenities, including kitchenette and washer/dryer. However, the most impressive part of our stay was the service from the hotel manager. Since they are not on the property entire time, they require us to confirm the arrival time. We emailed the information since no voice service for our temporary SIM card. In less than 2 minutes, we received a reply of a welcoming message. We arrived few hours before the check in time, and he had the room cleaned and ready. He spoke perfect English and made us very comfortable. When we checked out, he arranged a taxi for us and waited in the rain, so we don't have to. That's an above and beyond service which impressed us more than anything else in Kyoto.

We had a group of 4 that booked 2 rooms for 4 nights. It was an amazing place. It is the best possible location in Kyoto! We wouldn't stay anywhere else! The condo style rooms let you spread out and it makes you feel like your staying at someone's home rather than a hotel. Walk out the front door and you're in the heart of the Higashiyama District. Great food, shopping and multiple temples within a 5 minute walk. Thank you Campton for the amazing time.
