Definitely will come back for another try - everything was delicious although I’m not a big fan of the tempura

Authentic Japanese izakaya style restaurant. Run by a Japanese owner, 99 % of staff members are Japanese. So if you want to taste authentic Japanese food, I recommend that you try here😉 Don’t worry about other Japanese critics against this restaurant. They serve good and honest grub! This is not a Michelin restaurant! If you have that kind of expectation, this is not your place. This is a Izakaya/ bar food restaurant where you could find sashimi, sushi, karaage…. and so on. It is always busy, so make sure that you make a reservation☝️ 2024/06/22 I had great dinner with my friends. Even though the staff are mostly Japanese but there are some mixed races working. So don’t worry, there’s also an English menu available.

We ordered tofu and tasted a bit like salmon but it was delicious. Salmon miso soup, assorted sushi, tuna sashmi and prawn with shiitake mushroom were so delicious and filling. Bit of wait but it's worth it!

Google
Honestly one of the most authentic Japanese resto u can find in Barcelona - even though there are many Michelin starred Japanese resto here this one is down to earth, fresh and with items you could never find elsewhere such as sea urchin tofu, horse tataki, fried beef tongue?! While service is quite cold and furnishing is basic, the food is so generous in portion, quality top for the price and staff are all Japanese

Google
Super authentic and high quality sushi, to me it truly feels like the same level and experience as I had traveling in Japan. And amazing price for the value. The lunch sushi menu is fantastic and leaves you full. Always recommend adding the toro maki (fatty tuna) which is so excellent! The green tea ice cream is super quality too, I’d be surprised if it’s not made fresh/in house. It’s the only place I’ve found in Barcelona I’d recommend to my Japanese friends :)

Google
I’ve been to this Japanese restaurant a few times. They serve sushi along with a variety of other traditional Japanese dishes. The taste is very authentic and the quality is consistently good. The only downside is that the prices are a bit on the higher side—but overall, it’s worth it for the experience.

Google
Coming from a city with delicious sushi all over (Vancouver), I wanted to give it a try here. This did not disappoint. Great traditional nigiri using fresh fish. Their 3 piece tuna tasting was delicious. Service was friendly too. English speaking staff and menu. Good sake selection. Be warned, if you want to feast on nigiri here, it will cost you a bit.

It was my first time having sushi since returning from Japan — and wow, what a treat! The flavors were spot on, and I really enjoyed the creative Spanish twist on Japanese-inspired dishes. Definitely recommend giving it a try!

Yelp
This restaurant is run by Japanese so the food is fresh, clean, and very authentic. There is a sushi bar but it's just for eating. You cannot order sushi from the guys behind the counter which is kind of a bummer. We ordered the daily lunch menu. This includes 1 appetizer and 2 plates. If you're really hungry then there's an options for 3 plates. It also includes a half order of sushi but I highly recommend to get the full order for an extra 5 euros. The tofu and mushroom appetizer was very good. The tofu was very thick and creamy, not the type that you can buy at the store and it was topped with shemeji mushrooms and then based in some ponzu type sauce. Yum! The noodles and iberica jamon was a bit surprising. It was served room temperature with some nice flavorful and smoky pieces of pork. Broth was flavorful but just a bit too salty. Husband loved his mackeral stewed in miso broth and said it was totally comfort food. It came with golf sized pieces of taro and other vegetables. The full order of sushi was HUGE and comes at the end. It included 5 pieces of nigiri sushi (1 amazing chutoro) and 3 maki rolls of maguro, tuna, and cucumber. This will fill you up! Clean and tidy restaurant, nice service, and the food comes quickly. It's a bit pricey but worth it!

Yelp
Came here when i was visiting Barcelona. We walked in without reservations, they were packed so we went to a bar and came back 45 mins later. We were actually a bit late and they saved the table for us. V nice of them, didnt expect that. Anyway, we ordered the monk fish liver, green peas, philly roll, negihama, 1 order sake nigiri. OH and to drink, Had their sake and oyster special. Oysters were lovely Highlights Monkfish liver was huge - way bigger than in America (for once ;)). Flavor was nice as well, i'm not one to complain about big portions but after a while u get tired of liver. I took leftovers back to my parents. It came with a vinaigrette which cut the rich liver nicely. Green peas are mushed up into a rectangle cube - surprising. Fish/ rolls met my expectations. If i came back to Barcelona i wouldn't make it a point to come back here. Other than to try the horse tataki.

Yelp
Surprisingly good! Went on a Saturday and waited 10 minutes for a bar seat. We got horse tataki, sardine tempura, udon with clam, sushi/roll combo, and vegetable tempura. Sardine tempura had a miso dipping paste and side salad that were excellent. A lot of people got the vegetable tempura so it's a popular dish. The quality of the fish is very good. They did not toast their seaweed for their sushi. The table next to us got uni which looked very fresh and I wish we had gotten it. I probably wouldn't eat the horse or udon again.

Yelp
Food was mediocre and service was decent (there was only one server who understood English). My husband and I were the first ones to arrive. We had to wait outside cause the kitchen wasn't officially' open for service. After a few days in Barcelona, we realized that everything here was pretty much tapas style so we ordered a bunch of dishes. Nothing was mind-blowing good. We only had one problematic issue. DO NOT order the Uni. If you look at my picture, an Uni shouldn't have dark spots like that. Even looking at it we could tell the Uni was previously frozen. Waitress came over and asked why we didn't eat the Uni and we explained to her that it shouldn't be this color. I saw her walk to the chef and talk to him. She comes back and tells us that the chef said it was 'fresh'. We politely told her we're not going to eat it, but we'll pay for it.

Yelp
One of the best Japanese restaurants with affordable price! The house specialty of 3 tonyina nigiri (€6) is a MUST-ORDER! The toro is fresh and will melt in your mouth! The beef tongue with asparagus has great texture and flavor. The 9 pieces sashimi is fresh and comes with thick slices. The doriyaki with red bean fillings is just as authentic as the one in Japan, although it's a bit dry. The only thing that I don't recommend getting here is the matcha cocktail which is the combination of matcha liquor and milk. Definitely come here if you are craving for some fresh, delicious, authentic and affordable Japanese cuisine! *Definitely make reservation because the place is small and will be full within 10 minutes after it opens!

Yelp
This is probably the best and most authentic Japanese restaurant in town. Proof is that i never saw so many japanese eating in a japanese restaurant. The service is friendly and efficient and prices more than correct for what you get. Important, you must book a table because it's always full, even on week days I will go back for sure

Yelp
We tried to go here to eat since my daughter was craving ramen. We walked for a good 25-30 minutes found the place and opened the door only to be told they were closing. Mind you, we got there about 13:00-13:30 on a Tuesday and their posted hours said they were open until 15:30 so heavily disappointed. Make sure you check if they're actually open or not BEFORE you make the trek to visit. Still don't know the quality of their food...reviewing solely on customer service.

Yelp
Fantastic place for sushi and Japanese food. There are some incredible fusion food. Price is very accurate to the quality. Normally very busy place. The staff is very friendly. This is my fourth time here and you will never get disappointed

Yelp
This sushi was awesome. Came here without a reservation but luckily we were able to squeeze by the sushi bar on the restaurant's little stools. The sushi was incredibly fresh, flavorful and masterfully crafted. We ordered a few appetizers to share and they were fine for sharing - we ordered 4 to split among the 7 of us which seemed to work pretty well. The duck spring rolls were really good - crunchy, some vegetables inside and the duck was well prepared. We also got the duck and scallions cooked in miso which was small morsels of duck in a light miso broth. For sushi I ordered the sushi assortment which was about 15 euros and had a tuna roll, various futomaki and other rolls and 6 pieces of really, really good sushi. Under the tuna there was tucked a shiso leaf which really brought out the flavors of the fish, the salmon was perfectly seasoned, etc., and the amount of food was worth the price. Next time I will probably just get more sushi as it was so tasty. The service was efficient and friendly. They were pretty diligent about getting us more cava and water and happy to help us split the bill.

Yelp
After you have all the paella, boutifara, cheese, and hams of all different parts of the pig, it can get a bit tiring. That's why I love Can Kenji. We come here at least once every time we visit (which is about 5+ times a year). Though I would personally never order the sushi because it's quite boring, the other menu items are creative and delicious. I highly recommend the monk liver tofu! It's better than foie gras. And speaking of foie gras, they also make a delicious burger topped with it. There really is a strange harmony in home-cooked Japanese meals and Mediterranean cuisine. Reservations are highly recommended, unless you get there early, which in Spanish time is 8pm and if you don't mind sitting at the bar.

Yelp
Great food, great ambience. One of my favorite places in Barcelona. I have gone there several times and I have never been disappointed.

Yelp
The best sushi in Barcelona! Make sure you have a reservation. Ordered the sushi combo, tuna tasting, and mushroom tempura. Amazing! Then we topped it off with their tiramisu dessert. Even more amazing!

Yelp
Lunch special comes with a drink, miso, entree, and dessert for €14. Sushi was pretty good, but not amazing. Rice crumbled when I picked it up.

Yelp
We were in the mood for Asian fare and Can Kenji was just around the corner from the apartment we were renting. We had no reservation but got seats at the bar. We tried some sushi, sashimi and sauteed pork with kimchi. Sushi was fresh and the sauteed pork and kimchi was tasty (with a bowl of white rice). Very reasonably priced and nice atmosphere.

Yelp
A creative yet not over pretentious Japanese cuisine. Had the lunch tasting menu - consisting of 3 dishes + half portion of sushi (which translates into 4 maki & 3 nigiri). From the moment we set foot in the restaurant it seemed to be a promising experience. The restaurant design consists of an open kitchen which can be seen from the entire restaurant space. From the first dish which was a simple miso soup, we could've guessed this is going to be a good experience. The soup was made with fresh vegetables and there was no distinguishable sign of the synthetic miso paste which most Japanese restaurants like to use. Second course was Cold sōmen noodles with grilled aubergine and pork meat - nicely done served in a sauce which seems to contain vinegar, soy and might be other ingredients. My main course was the Grilled mackerel marinated with soy sauce which was also nicely done - preserving the fishs taste and gently blending it with the sauce tastes. The sushi was decent. Other than the shrimp nigiri which was a bit tasteless, the rest was in high quality. We drank a cold sake - out of the selection of Japanese sake which the place offers, we took the cheapest one and it proved to be in high quality like the rest of the meal. My partner had the green tea ice team for desert. Again - It was accurately done, not being too sweet and having an accentuated taste. If you read thus far - go there. It's a great experience.

Yelp
this place was kind of a disappointment - food was good but nothing mindblowing and service was ok. however, the sushi and sashimi we got were definitely very fresh, albeit the pieces were pretty small. would highly recommend the €6 three piece tuna nigiri special

Yelp
We had a menu of 3 different small dishes plus half portion of sushi. Everything was delicious. Fresh and tasty. I liked to have the possibility to eat many small dishes. I will go there again!

Yelp
Made a reservation via skype for 8:30 pm, 5 people on the same day as dining. We were seated immediately, the place was very busy. I had the best tuna nigiri bite I've ever had. My order of clam and squid udon was not too large, and it was sublime. The "kids" loved the shiitake risotto- two orders. Creamy miso soup was good. Tuna tataki (lightly seared) with guacamole was a treat. Skip the ensalada with raw fish, I felt like I was eating leftover fish morsels, not the best bits of fish, however the carrot ginger dressing was yummy. 74 euro for 5 people, no dessert, one aqua, two beers, two sodas.

Yelp
One of the best Japanese restaurant in town. Was even on the news. Great service too! Might need to make reservations during Friday and weekends.

Yelp
everything is amazing, i come or order food from here frequently and i have no complains. the green tea mochi is really good:)

Yelp
Tried to find a place to eat on a Sunday evening. This is only of a few restaurants that was opened. However, you have to make a reservation. Don't just show up or you'll go hungry.

Yelp
After waiting for an hour and a half, and a dozen good yelp and trip advisor reviews, I was expecting an amazing dish. I'm Asian and I've eaten at a lot if good Japanese restaurant across the globe. This just isn't one of them. The fusion didn't work. The tuna tataki with avocado just wasn't that fresh, and the guacamole didn't match. The burger was confused at best. The miso soup was interesting and the duck with foie was pretty good. Maybe fusion appeals to Europeans, but this was average at best. I was also totally underwhelmed by three of momofukus restaurants, so you be your own judge
