I Went on a Food-focused Road Trip Through Catalonia — Here's Where to Find the Best Oysters, Olive Oil, and Even Sake

Grilled hake was perfect. Applauds to the chef. The service was strange. First they pushed us to order, didn't want to give wifi password before we order food, then igonered for 20 minutes. They also refused us a water front table, while sat others.

I recently dined at Can Laury Sitges, and it was an extraordinary 5-star experience from start to finish! Nestled along the picturesque Port d’Aiguadolç, this restaurant combines stunning marina views with an ambiance that’s both elegant and welcoming—a perfect balance of sophistication and Mediterranean charm. The menu is a celebration of fresh, seasonal ingredients, and every dish we tried was a testament to their mastery of seafood and Mediterranean cuisine. The Arroz Caldoso con Bogavante (lobster brothy rice) was an absolute standout—rich, fragrant, and brimming with tender lobster chunks, the rice soaked up the deep, savory seafood broth in a way that felt both indulgent and soul-warming. It’s hands-down one of the best rice dishes I’ve ever tasted, perfectly showcasing their expertise with arroces. Another highlight was the Turbot a la Parrilla (grilled turbot). This dish arrived with a golden, lightly charred exterior, yet the fish remained impossibly moist and flaky inside. Served with a drizzle of olive oil and a hint of lemon, its simplicity let the pristine quality of the fish shine through—truly a must-order for seafood lovers. The Gambas a la Plancha (grilled prawns) were equally divine—plump, juicy, and kissed with a smoky char, their natural sweetness elevated by a touch of sea salt. I couldn’t get enough of dipping the crusty bread into the garlicky juices left behind. For starters, the Chipirones a la Andaluza (Andalusian-style fried squid) were a crispy, golden delight—lightly battered, tender, and paired with a zesty aioli that added just the right kick. The Ensalada de Tomate con Ventresca (tomato salad with tuna belly) was a refreshing surprise, with ripe, juicy tomatoes layered with silky tuna, drizzled in a vibrant olive oil dressing that tied it all together. Dessert was the perfect finale—the Crema Catalana had a flawlessly caramelized sugar crust that cracked to reveal a creamy, vanilla-infused custard beneath, balancing richness with a light citrus note. Paired with a glass from their well-curated wine list, it was pure bliss. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, with staff who clearly take pride in their craft. The setting—glass walls overlooking the swaying yachts—only enhanced the magic of the meal. Can Laury Sitges is a culinary gem that deserves every one of its 5 stars. If you’re in Sitges, don’t miss it—especially the lobster rice and grilled turbot. I’m already dreaming of my next visit! Notes on the Best Dishes: • Arroz Caldoso con Bogavante: Frequently praised for its rich flavor and generous seafood, a signature rice dish that’s a top pick. • Turbot a la Parrilla: A standout for its perfect execution and fresh quality, often highlighted in reviews. • Gambas a la Plancha: Simple yet exceptional, a seafood classic done right. • Chipirones a la Andaluza: A crowd-pleasing starter with great texture and taste.

While the food was truly delicious — hats off to the chef — the service was hugely disappointing and left us with a bad overall experience. When we first approached the restaurant, my husband simply asked if they had beer on draft. Instead of answering, the waiter replied with “oh, so no dinner?” which felt unnecessarily confrontational. We clarified that we did want dinner and again asked about draft beer. After confirming they had it, he seated us at a middle table. The next server came over and immediately asked for our order before we even had menus. I politely asked for a few minutes. A third waiter arrived, more insistent, and after I asked about the sangria and Wi-Fi, he told us we needed to order food to get the password. I said we’d start with drinks and then order food, but he pushed back, saying we had to order food first. This felt unnecessarily aggressive, especially as the restaurant was almost empty (less than one-third full) on a Saturday night. When we first arrived, I also asked to sit at a waterfront table but was told they were “reserved.” The tables remained empty for most of the night. Later, I saw another guest (without a reservation) successfully request one of those tables after some back-and-forth, at which point the waiter simply removed the “reserved” sign and seated her there. If you have policies, then enforce them consistently — or don’t have them at all. Unfortunately, this experience was frustrating enough that I wouldn’t return and will definitely not recommend this place to my sailing friends.

Great location on the seafront, warm and cosy despite being inside a kind of glass shelter. Food was good, though on our second visit here it wasn't quite as nice as before. Not many people here which was a shame, made it a little too quiet. However, some people did enter once we sat down. Very friendly waitress which was nice! I'd suggest checking this place out; The truffle carbonara pizza was absolutely incredible!

We loved it here! The service was amazing from Tony (thank you) and the food was excellent. Very fresh and delicious. Lovely wine and very reasonable prices. Definitely try here and book ahead if you want a table next to the port. Thank you

This is a seafood restaurant that I visited after being introduced to it by the Airbnb owner. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar provided at each table made the pre-dinner bread delicious. The cool cava enriched the taste of the dish. You have to pay for the bread on the table. Be sure to try the octopus and grilled squid dishes. It's so soft, fresh and delicious. Seafood paella is perfect for Koreans' tastes, like eating fried rice made with the leftover broth from seafood stew. The seafood included was really fresh and delicious. Lemon beer Clara is the best!! The staff are also very friendly. The price is a bit high, but it's worth it. I definitely want to visit when I come back to Sitges.

The dining experience at this establishment did not meet expectations due to several service-related issues. Firstly, when my son wanted to order a drink, the waiter instructed him to wait until we had ordered our main dish, rather than asking for our preference first. Additionally, we requested lime to accompany our fried boquerones, but it did not arrive despite our wait. We also asked for bread to enjoy with our main dish while it ywas hot; however, we noticed the waiter distributing bread to other tables instead. When we reminded him about our request, he stated, “Next round, you’ll get your bread.” While I understand that not every dining experience must be exceptional, the owner may prioritize profit over service quality.V

Our favourite fish restaurant in Sitges Port Aiguadolç. Always busy & popular; their fish is wonderfully fresh & perfectly prepared. Great waiters with senses of humour. Our third dinner last night in the last month; each one has been even better than the previous visit. Fabulous! (Pics from all of our visits; we aren’t that greedy). People have commented that Can Lauro is expensive; this hasn’t been our experience. It’s big portions of delicious fish; you’d expect to pay €20-25 for a main course. Good wines too.

Yelp
Great food- no fuzzy stuff just high quality ingredients. Beautiful setting, next to the harbour.

Yelp
The Amelia hotel recommended this restaurant and 6 of us had dinner on a Sunday night. The place was really nice. Tables had white table clothes. The waiter was friendly and the help in general inviting. The bread was not so great but there was really good olive oil and vinegar on the table. The goat cheese salad was really good. I highly recommend. The clams were not worth it. Seriously $22 for 8 clams. Crazy. Do not order it! And I've had the delicious baby clams- these are not them. The baby squid with peppers was also good. My friend was super excited that they had Coke Zero. The wine was excellent. Big restaurant but they seated everyone on top of each other. Hate that. Why not spread us out? Restaurant was not full ( we ate early by Spanish standards). For our main dishes, everyone got fresh fish. Sea bass, salmon, salt cod, etc. Everyone loved the fish they ordered and cleaned their plates. Mine was delicious! My "side of vegetables" was a couple of carrot sticks, two asparagus, and two partial pieces of potatoes. Looked like a tiny portion but was about right. Torrone ice cream for dessert was awesome. tThey would not give us separate checks which was a bummer but it's a European thing. Ok. They gave us the wrong tables check and realized it after we paid. So then we had to pay the difference. Really a hasssle. Overall, fantastic fish. Come for that! I would return.

Yelp
The location in the port is convenient and the full windows provide a nice view. However, the quality of the food left much to be desired. We ordered the lobster paella and found barely any meat inside the lobster, so we basically ended up having some really expensive rice... also they charge for the bread and it's not worthwhile. Find another restaurant!

Yelp
A group of 10 of us were just in the Sitges and Barcelona area for two weeks. We ate twice at this place and it was the best meal we had out. Service here is very good. The food was all delicious and we tried a wide variety of it. In fact we shared or sampled almost everything that came to the table. Needless to say, the seafood on the menu was very good. I thought the salt cod was particularly delicious and moist. The desserts at this place deserves special mention. With 10 people around the table we ordered a wide variety and as they made it around, our group was hard pressed to find one we did not like. Be warned, appetizers are very large here and the soup is enough to feed 3 - 4 people so we recommend you order your starters first, order less than you think you need, and once you are done, then order your mains. Otherwise you will order way too much. Enjoy!

Yelp
The place was recommended by some people and now I know why. It was very tasty. We had paella Laury and a salad. The location is great and considering it's Spain service was very good.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner for a conference I was attending at Melia Sitges. Really great food. I am vegetarian and they very nicely catered to my eating restriction, bringing special appetizers and entrees too.

Yelp
We had Easter dinner in this beautiful dinning room near the marina. The staff was so pleasant and made our evening. The salted cod dish was perfect, the steak selection was cooked wonderfully and the mixed grill of fishes was quite nice. We highly recommend this beautiful dinning experience.

Yelp
Super delicious and they split one entree between two people which was quite nice of them! Definitely recommend this place for the atmosphere and seafood.

Yelp
Very solid restaurant amid a lot of not-so-great ones in the charming Port Sitges area. Convenient for families as it is open nonstop from lunch through dinner and lots of tables. Very good fish, starters. Recommended.
