OK so this really is a deli. A counter-service deli that's surprisingly well organized, with attentive, friendly staff despite the crowd. There are no chairs, so belly up to a high top and claim your spot. The catch? Your only drink option is a bottle of bubbly! Can't justify splitting an entire bottle over lunch? They also serve by the glass.

A super efficient tapas bar dealing well with the Primavera crowd. We stopped there for some tapas and cava on our way to the festival. The waiters are very friendly and we enjoyed our food and drink. Despite the bar being full we had to wait very little.

Went solo. It was super crowded. The staff told me waiting time could be from 20-30mins. i ended queuing for 10mins coz the group ahead of me could not wait any longer and left. ☝️So dont be disheartened about the queue. Noisy atmosphère. I was being bumped from all directions and the girl beside me was flipping her hair every minute and i wonder how much dandruff went into m'y drink. A semi drink girl banged the door while im inside the toilet looking for her phone which je found in her jacket. ☝️For first timers, before ordering, ask for a number (in a wooden cube) first then that's the time to tell them what you like to have.. Nothing special about the burger with bacon with cheese and pepper. They ran out of longanissa so i ordered xistorra without having any idea what it is. I got tiny slices of well done hot dogs. Bit salty but liked it. Food not so expensive considering the success. Toilets are super small and needs to be checked regularly. It was horrible!. Hence 3 ⭐.

Went over the weekend, was a classical tapas bar although really overcrowded for parts which slightly pulls down my score on atmosphere. However my biggest issue was the very poor and outright rude staff when ordering; when ordering a bottle I was told a minimum of 2 plates needed to be ordered despite me already asking to place an order for 5 or so plates as eating with a friend. The barman was also annoyed that we did not have one of the blocks with a number on to order? I still didn’t know what that actually was because it was never actually told to us nor given by the person showing us our spot? Whilst ordering the barman continued to walk off often for a minute or two and seemed to do other work before finally brining back the plate I had ordered. I was therefore standing around like an idiot at the bar for a prolonged and unnecessary time. When I finally ordered the final plates and paid for all that I ordered the same barman stood around and looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked him where was my croquettes… I had to show him that the receipt, which I paid for just a second prior, had them on the tab he then reluctantly went to go fetch them. To top things off when he returned with them I then repeated to have the two glasses for my bottle which he still hadn’t gave me, he more or less threw them towards me with the croquettes in doing so making me drop half of them and almost smashing one of the glasses onto a near by customer and their food. Needless to say I felt disgusted by his behaviour and felt quite embarrassed by the whole ideal. It was a shame as his actions seriously hurt my experience of this place, which could have been a very different review.

You should definitely try their rosé cavas! The burgers were a bit too salty for my taste. If I come back here, I’ll absolutely go for the cavas again!

Finally made it to Can Paixano after five long years — and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The rosé cava? Chef’s kiss. The vibes? Relaxed and effortlessly local. Prices? Almost too good to be true. I’m already planning my next round. This spot is a sparkling little legend.

This is definitely a must-visit spot while walking along the seaside, away from the busy streets. We tried the beef sandwich, croquettes, and anchovy tapas. The croquettes were absolutely outstanding. If you stop by when you’re not too hungry, please don’t forget to have a glass of rosé cava for us!

This bar is onr of the MUSTS in Barcelona. Good and cheap cava and terrific plates od traditional catalan tapas. Goid ambient and nice people. Its a great experience at Barcelona. Better in spring or in summer in walking to the beach.

Yelp
This is an affordable and authentic spot for cava and bread roll sandwiches. You will be led to a counter/table for your party, but all food and drinks are ordered up front. We started off with a white and red wine (€2 each). For the food, we ordered the Loin, Foie Gras, York (€5.25), Sausage of the Country (€2.95), and Burger with Bacon and Papinillos (€4.85). We may have overdid it with 3 sandwiches for 2 people, so I'd suggest to one per person with some tapas on the side. The sandwich is simple with lots of bread, so it's quite filling. I liked how much york was in the loin, which made the bread not as dry. The burger was also a solid choice with the pickles giving some acidity to break from the fattiness of the meat. It's a decent meal for a good price. It feels like a popular local spot, where people come and go. The bread was a bit too filling for me though and wasn't anything too special overall.

Yelp
We walked over to Can Paixano after drinks at Dr. Stravinsky. We weren't terribly hungry, but definitely needed some food to soak up the drinks we had that night. I had the meat sandwich with foie gras, which was hot, cheap, and delicious. X had the regular meat sandwich, which I thought was missing the foie gras! We also had an order of croquettes, which were fab. This late at night, it was definitely standing room only, but the food came out real quick, so we were barely there for longer than 20 minutes. If you're looking for a quick, cheap bite, Can Paixano is great.

Yelp
**Dec 2022: Afternoon visit** Very inexpensive bar food that's authentically Catalonian. Here are my thoughts. Pros: -Cavas (it's like a Spanish champagne) is very inexpensive -Sandwiches and Sausages are simple but flavorful. -Lively atmosphere -Didn't smell like smoke inside -Overall I enjoyed the experience! Cons: -There is no sign for the restaurant so I walked right by it, but there's a long line of people so you know that's the restaurant. Be warned: the restaurant is located in a street (alleyway?) that is very narrow and everyone smokes. I had to step towards the opening of the street a couple of times because about 1/3 people were lighting up and the smoke just stayed in. -The menu is is Catalan and my server spoke little English. I just showed them photos of what I wanted. -Standing room only.

Yelp
Want authentic Catalonian Tapas and Cava? Forgot to include inexpensive. Also forgot to include, eating and drinking while standing. If yes, head down to Can Paixano aka La Xampanyeria. Here's a tip on finding the place - map it and head to the point on either Google or Apple maps. No signage whatsoever. Look for a line of people waiting in what looks to be an alley while in actuality, it's Carrer de la Reina Cristina. Entry is first come, first served. Like I mentioned before though, no seating. You stand at the bar or a designated table. If you're at the table, head to the counter to order. Get the Cava - best prices ever. Or any of the Tapas on the menu - delicious AF. As for food and drinks - see my pics. Know that the pics don't do the actual food and drinks any justice. You'll have to visit and see what I mean for yourself. The venue is lively and loud. If you want intimate, this isn't the right spot for you. But I'll say that it's a spot you shouldn't pass up on if you're ever in Barcelona and want to experience the feel and vibe while enjoying authentic, great food and drinks.

Yelp
Ever since our visit here in 2018, I still think about this place! So glad to revisit this establishment during our short trip in Barcelona! Not much has changed since our last visit, they don't speak a lick of English and they're probably so sick of tourists coming in, so they come off a little annoyed. But the food is great and you will be walking away full without breaking the bank. There is no seating here, so be prepared to stand and sweat! Get a big bottle of cava and eat a few burgers. You won't regret it

Yelp
Cava at extremely reasonable prices and terrific foods. A true hidden gem but don't go if you don't like rubbing shoulders.

Yelp
Was here in September 2019. Do not miss the chance to eat here it is fantastic. Cool ambiance. I like how the servers dress and the service was personable. All around A+ experience.

Yelp
Small, narrow spot right across from the beach in the gothic quarter. Great air conditioning in here on a hot day, with chilled Rose. Bustling spot that turns tables over quickly. Loved by locals and tourists alike. Classic tapas offerings served fast and in generous portions. Locals choose the house Rose, but this one is light and delightful after a morning of walking around. Staff is very patient with struggling Spanish speakers.

Yelp
Of all the reasons to love Barcelona, Can Paixano is one of the best. I knew this because as soon as I approached it, I could hear the low rumble of voices followed by the smell of good food. All the good reviews are true! Upon walking in a crowded room, I saw a feast of food and drinks covering up almost every space available. Service was quick and I was able to get some great grub and drinks on a budget. I'd definitely recommend it for some good eats and drinks to anyone dropping by Barcelona!

Yelp
I didn't understand a single word on the menu so I picked whatever sounded interesting which was "pernil i sobrassada" (2.95 € as of September 2021) . Turns out it is a sandwich with ham . Very very delicious I must say. I also ordered rose but got rosat instead (it was loud so the mix up is understandable) and it was the best sparkling wine I've ever had. A cup was 1.65 € . They have electronic menu in English but you need WiFi to open it

Yelp
I recommend this restaurant if you go to Barcelona. Best Tapas and Cava. I am not an expert in wine but I loved their pink Cava. I had 2 C Rosats (Cava Rose I think) and the following tapas - R Variat Aperitiu, R Anxoves, R Banderilles, R Cansalada, R Pernil. I simply pointed to whatever looked interesting! This place was hard to find. It is near the Port of Barcelona. I got lost in the area looking for it. I asked directions at the pharmacy at the corner and then walked right past because, for some reason, there is no sign. Then asked another person, looked around and saw a man wearing a their Tshirt. Asked him in sign language (No Espanyol here) pointing to his Tshirt "Where is this?" and the man pointed to right behind him! He walked me inside. I was given space at a counter and asked very gruffly by a man after saying "Ingles?" to his spanish... "What do you want?" I simply pointed to tapas in front of me in the glass case and someone's Cava. Pretty Pink in tiny glass. I proceeded to sample the tapas and cava...and DELICIOUS! If I were there, I would buy the wine. Lots of people were doing so. They also have sandwiches etc. and I am sure they are great. But the tapas is what you eat in Spain. Really wish I could go back there.

Yelp
Best Tapas in Barcelona. Near the beaches. The marinated artichoke hearts were amazing.

Henri B.

Yelp
When we got there we had to wait 15 mins in line for a spot in the restaurant which we thought was a good sign. We got a spot standing at the bar and we were given a number. We got a bottle of wine and started to sip on that while we decided what to eat. The menu was in Catalonian so it was kind of hard to read, we got help from some other patrons near us to help. I got the hamburger with bacon and cheese, it was ready in about 5 mins and then our server handed it to us over the bar. The meat was very good and tender, you could tell they use very high quality beef. Next I got a meat platter with various pork ok it and that was so good. The whole thing cost me under $15 for two dishes and a third of a bottle of wine, will definitely go back.

Yelp
Authentic, fantastic. STANDING ONLY. Get the 1,35-euro rose cava, a plate of manchego, and the croquettes. You cannot go wrong. LGBT+ friendly!

Yelp
Hands down, and mark my words when I say this, my favourite Catalan restaurant ever. Whenever I have to show off a lil bit of what Catalunyas about in the food scene, I bring 'em here! Can Paixano is the definition of an oldschool restaurant. Barely a sign to get in, you would never find it on accident, it's cheap and crowded but damn is it deeeelicious. Everytime I go I like to stick to some staples and then pick some other things around it: The olive & pickles tapa MUST get the blood sausage MUST get the chorizo Those are the die hard needs. Other things that are incredible: the manchego cheese, the artichokes, & literally all the sandwiches are great. Omg and the croquetas. Oh and 8€ bottles of cava, hiiiiiiii!!! This place is just the dopest.
google avatar

Emi B.

Yelp
Sausage platter was so good! But so hard to communicate in English that we only got one type instead of assorted sausage :/ The thick cut jamon was definitely not my cut of tea.... Feel like eating raw meat. And yes, you come here for Cava. Cash only!

K C.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Truly one of the highlights of my short time in Barcelona. The vibe is buzzing, the food great, the cava does not stop flowing, the prices cannot be beaten. I will admit, it was a little intimidating at first when walking up to the counter since the staff don't really speak English, but don't let that deter you. Neither my friend nor I speak Catalan, but luckily we met a man at the counter who had studied abroad in Barcelona (he too was visiting from overseas and just had to go back to Can Paixano) who was eager and willing to help us out with ordering! It was an amazing experience. The fact that it is full of locals all the time, and that they aren't even trying to cater to tourists is just a sign that it's good stuff. TLDR: if I could only return to Barcelona for just one day, I would make sure that this place is on the itinerary.
google avatar

Yelp
This isn't your typical drive thru fast food, these guys are old school pick and go, stand up dining spot. They know minimal English but they will point and show you items to get an idea of what you like. I had the bacon burger it was so fresh, taste like nothing I ever had in the states before. Ate it all with a knee in my back (its tight in there.) The signature is the Cava. You can get a bottle or a glass. This stuff is extraordinarily, compliments everything. It's on the sweeter side if that's your wine preference. If you to eat like a local this is the place for you.

Yelp
Don't miss this place while in Barcelona. Our son found it and we decided to give it a try. You most likely will have to stand in line for a while as it is a very popular but it's worth it. One note though.....there are no seats (not unusal in Barcelona). The wait was sooooo worth it. Their house cava (5 different types) was really inexpensive for a bottle and their food outstanding. We tried a lot of different dishes and really it would be hard to discern which was better - they are all outstanding. A don't miss if your in Barcelona.

Ruobin W.

Yelp
We came back here. In our 5 day, hectic, once-in-a-lifetime stay in the BCN, we came here twice, kiddos. That's how dope the experience is. This should be enough of an endorsement but keep reading if you really want to see the breakdown: 1. There is a bar and everybody stands. You can put drinks and food on the counter while you snack, just be considerate of the people next to you. 2. Please, get the jamon. It's so delicious and fresh. Also, it's like 3 euros, which is definitely a great price and you'll love snacking on it while you move on to #3. 3. The cava is pretty damn cheap per glass. 1.50 to 3 euros per. Or, grab a bottle and just go ham on it. :D 4. They make hot meats and you can choose whether you want it on its own or on a bocadillo. I would opt for the chorizo and the botifarra, but pretty much all of them are amazing. Even the hamburguesa is spectacular. The sauces are delectable as well. 5. Total cost - you could definitely have a great feast and spend less than 10 euros per person.

Yelp
LOVE this place!! Super authentic, the food is awesome and the Rosat Can Paixano..... well let's just say I want to bring at least 10,000 bottles of it to home with me. Definitely the best cava I've ever had in my life! Come hungry, try the crispy chorizos (I normally don't like blood sausages but these were actually really good and I ate them), and get the sandwiches with cheese! Would come here every time I am in town!

Ryan B.

Yelp
Full menu in Catalan may be a bit of a hurdle, but grab a bottle of cava and work through the menu.
google avatar

Kyle W.

Yelp
As someone who looks like a tourist, I got the same treatment as the locals all around me. Maybe it was because I could speak Spanish well, but honestly, there is no bias here: everyone got treated equally. None of the servers understand English well, at least based on what I observe and the reviews, so I got to utilize the Spanish I learned and got what I wanted. They were transparent about prices when I asked them (in Spanish), and there was absolutely zero awkward interactions. So, they understand Spanish even though the menu is all in Catalan. Don't worry if you don't know Spanish, as you can always look at what the locals are eating and tell the server the quantity and point at the food. The chorizo is just amazing; I wish I ordered more but my stomach was bursting (in a pleasant way) after the chorizo and croquettes. The hamburgers were also surprisingly good (hey, no judgment, even the locals love them!) Definitely get the cavas, as they are insanely cheap. If I remembered correctly, it was around 2 euros, a little less or more. Other food items are insanely cheap too, as we were so full and yet the bill came out to be less than 20 euros for 3 people! Overall, I am glad I found this place even though it was so hard to find without any references. I would definitely come back when I get the chance to come back to Barcelona.

Yelp
Wow. What can I say about this amazing spot. It's a real authentic place for anyone to visit. They do sandwiches with different kinds of meat, cheese, and onions. But they also have sauseges/hot dogs, chicken, peppers, and tapas when you ask for a drink of Cava. They fill it to the brim! And only for $3! Cava is a bubbly, like a champagne but they drink it with anything and everything. I ordered the lomo with cheese and onions and it was so simple yet so tasty I fell in love. I also had about 4 glasses of cava and I was feeling great! I was with my friend as well and she ordered two plates of chicken with peppers along with 4 glasses of cava too. Out total was less than $30. Can you believe that? Back in Los Angeles it would have cost us about $100 for two people. Barcelona has amazing places to eat and this is one of them. There is absolutely no seating room so you have to live like a local and stand whole eating and drinking at this spot. They make their own cava about 50 miles away and bottle it as well. If you wanted a whole bottle it would cost you $12. Unbelievable how cheap and tasty Spain is. The waiters or professional and very sweet. They speak English so for those of you who don't speak Catalan or Spanish, you will be in good hands!
google avatar

Ida D.

Yelp
The Rosado Cava is DIVINE. period. We ordered a bottle, and it was so smooth, refreshing, and beautiful. Do yourself a favor and try the cavas here! We also ordered some food (croquettes, pan con tomato, and sausage). The sausages were good, but everything else is quite meh. But the cava more than makes up for it. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Barcelona! Service was also super friendly!

Yelp
Can Paixiano is the place you dream about when you return to the states (or wherever home is). It's the place that you wish was available just down the block from you, so that you could frequent all the time with your buddies. Walk in, it's brimming with locals, buzzing with energy and everyone is just wanting some cava, sausage, and sammies. I came here with my husband (new word I'm getting used to!) in the earlier days of the trip, and we spent the latter days trying to figure out how we could go again or at least grab some sandwiches for our flight home. Alas, it was not meant to be, but Can Paixiano has really got a grip on us and definitely one of the favorites! The are no tables, standing room only, with small ledges by the bar or some high shelving you can place your drinks/food behind. They are cash only. The menu is completely in spanish - so I would recommend you try to prep ahead of time if you do not know the language at all or have some translations/photos of what you want (just makes the process easier for all parties). Order at the bar, find a space, enjoy the food when you grab it from the staff. I saw individuals pay once they ordered, but we were able to pay when we finished as well. Although it's crowded, space does clear up quickly. We were fortunate that the staff member that took our order knew a bit of english, but I think that is not always the case from what I've heard! He was really helpful in translating some items and we were very thankful! We got the cava of course per recommendation. It went well with the sampler "plats de variatas" It comes with regular sausage, blood sausage and chorizo. It was so good!! Under the "especialidades de la casa" (house special sandwiches), we got two sandwiches: Serrano, queso, cebolla y pimentos (Serrano, cheese, onions, peppers) and the Lomo Foie-gras y York (Foie Gras and Pork). The Lomo Foie-Gras y York, was so fantastically out of this world - it was full of this pate, large piece of pork and just so tasty and delicious and really was the main reason we wanted to go back (along with the vibe and all the other delicious food we were seeing!). It was just such a great experience here I would definitely revisit to try all their other sandwiches and enjoy me some cava, and sausages!

Yelp
Great place for tapas--some of the best I've had so far here in BCN. I love how there's more of a local vibe in here. It seemed like there were a lot of regulars who were here when I went. It's VERY small, no seating so you're ordering at the bar and eat at the bar. We ordered the sausage platter, croquettes and the cava. The sausage platter was great because it was hot but the croquettes were lukewarm from sitting there. Regardless, both were delicious! Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick bite! Our order was 8 euros total!!!

Yelp
Thanks to TripAdvisor and yelp I was able to find this gem. Love finding cheap yummy authentic eats like this. Standing room only. Menu is not in English whatsoever. They barely speak any English. Cash only. We ordered: burger with cheese and peppers-good but not omg good A foie gras sammich with bacon-favorite!! Very good Croquettes- yummy Anchovies- I didn't eat this but bf did and said it was on the salty side 2 glass of white wine Our total was only about 14 euros. We were Lucky and came right before the crowd. Turned around and there was a bunch of people waiting for people to finish, so they can grab a spot. Highly recommend to stop by this place if you ever visit Barcelona.

Yelp
WOW this place is truly outstanding and hands-down my favorite Catalan restaurant in Spain. Can Paixano is also known as "La Xampanyeria." It's such a hidden hole-in-the-wall that I walked past it the first time and couldn't find the entrance because there's no outdoor sign. It's ridiculously cheap (most options are under €3!!!!) and bustling with more locals than tourists. There are no seats, so you stand around the counter to order food. Be aware this is a cash-only place!! There is no English menu! I'm not familiar with Catalan, so I had to rely on both my server and a nice Spanish-speaking couple on recommendations to eat. Potato Croquettes: €1.5. I saw a cook take a batch out of the fryer and knew I had to try them. For one order, you get six croquettes. They are creamy and filled with potato goodness. Serrano, Queso, Cebolla, y Pimientos: €3.30. A house special sandwich with Spanish vocabulary I was familiar with (Serrano ham, cheese, onions, and peppers). Everything complemented each other: oozing cheese, grilled peppers, and salty ham with toasted and pillowy bread Xistorra Sandwich: A sandwich with two links of xistorra chorizo. The sausages have a bit of a spicy kick to them, but that just made me enjoy it much more. This sandwich sounds boring but it's super yummy and I saw at least three other people eating it too. Jamon: I got 14 pieces of ham to pair with my sandwiches and croquettes at a ridiculously low price. You could tell how much I loved the food here based on the number of orders, but it all added up to LESS THAN €12!! I was so fully after my meal at 2 pm that I barely ate anything for dinner that day.

Yelp
5 stars for atmosphere/experience 4 stars for food 4 stars for service 5 stars for value This adds up to 4.5 so I'll round up. This is a standing room only tapas bar that is mostly locals with several tourists like me mixed in. You walk up to the bar, a server greets you (our server was movie-star gorgeous), you order, and you're off to the races! Two of us shared a bottle of the delicious house cava a steal at €8.50. It's a winner-- like Martinelli's on steroids! Look-I'm not a drinker usually, but I found their cava refreshing and perfect with the salty, savory snacks we had: mixed sausages (including morcilla blood sausage which is black and may not be for everybody, chorizo, and a lighter sausage; hit sandwich with bacon, cheese, peppers; burger with bacon, cheese and pickles. We ate until we were full--and the tab? €18!! The experience standing there in a packed, darkened bar with Spaniards, consuming bite after bite of salty deliciousness and throwing back glass after glass of cool cava--priceless! We were in and out within 30 minutes but I'll remember the experience for a long time and look forward to returning. I'm

Yelp
This place seems like a hidden gem even though its pretty popular. Mainly because there's no big sign. However, I really think you definitely need to pay attention find this place and grub out...here's why: They have a bomb meat platter with different types of meat such as the chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage which is bomb) and botifarra. Definitely recommend for you to get the meat platter. They also have some dips to go along with the platter. Oh and they have this awesome sparkling red wine (cava rosé) that's super cheap €1,50 a glass (damn super cheap) that goes well with the food. Aside from the meat platter, I tried the lomo serrano y pimientos which was pretty darn delicious. The baco sobrassada was meh. The mini sardines and they costella humada (pretty much smoked ham) are also good. The service is pretty cool. We asked an eff load of questions and the guys were pretty patient with us asking all the questions of the food. Go to the back and buy some wine to go...I had to buy four bottles.

Alyssa L.

Yelp
Extremely authentic. Menu is in Catalan so come prepared. Tables are standing but it's 100% worth it. Amazing food. I loved the chorizo.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Barcelona that is NOT a tourist trap. It is a little difficult to find because it's in the middle of allie way but not impossible. A few things to remember when coming to this place is to bring cash since they do no take credit cards and you most likely will not be able to find a seat. The decoration is very contemporary (beautiful) and the service is super amazing and FAST! Highly recommend ordering the house "Cava" for your drinks just get a bottle (is that good). With regards to the food everything we order was over the top, has the morcilla (blood sausage) sandwich which was AMAZING!!!!!! It was very juicy, crisp and you can really taste the spices. The botifarra (pork sausage) was very juicy, tender and had tons of different flavor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AMAZING PLACE!

Yelp
Legit. CASH ONLY and expect to stand the whole time. The place packed, shoulder to shoulder. The service is unlike any other, it's fast and straight to the point, but it's cheap and it's good.

Yelp
A must if you're in Barcelona! A glass of cava (Spanish version of champagne) starts at 1.30, while a whole bottle starts at 8 euros. They have a wide range of Spanish and European meats and sandwiches. My favourite was the spicy Frankfurter for ~2.30, but you really can't go wrong. Everything I tried during the two times I went there was delicious and cheap. You can have a full meal and a couple of drinks for well under 10 euros!! The place itself is very authentic with everything f written in only Catalan. Plenty of locals but a good number of tourists too - the place is packed! No seats and only standing room, but that only adds to the vibe of the place. I would go in an empty stomach as the cava is bubbly, the portions are huge, and everything is cheap!

Yelp
A must in Barcelona, this made me feel like I was officially in Spain and the meat , was the best I've ever had. The morcilla I wish I could take back to NY, I typically like argentine ones back home but this was just a good but crispy , less watery and still creamy ; that with a side of the Brava Rosado wine equals perfection. No seats but with no time you'll have space by the bar

Yelp
Love it here. You are bound to miss this place because there is no sign, but there could be a mash of people outside depending what time you go. Literally it's a sardine came inside. If you do not like crowds or being smushed side by side with others don't bother. Thankfully when I went there wasn't a line of people outside so I walked right in..right into a packed house as it. I ordered the loml/foie gras/york and the sausage mixed plate. In the sausage plate there was a dark (looked burnt) sausage, but when you but into it, it was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. A MUST. After getting my first help if I decided to get another one and this time I tried the... Both the sandwiches I got were absolutely delicious and it's simply an experience coming here. Take a bottle of their house made wine home! Only 2.80€ One more tip: Don't be rude and not try to learn the language.. Make an effort, even if it's only the menu you know. It's your job, NOT THEIRS, to learn English. Someone did that and the cashier was completely offended as was I.

Yelp
Omg. Excellent. Must do in Barcelona. The Cava is special and the sandwiches are amazing. No seating but that is part of the charm.

Yelp
Legit spot for locals. Super busy, crowded, sketchy service but the food, prices and people were great. Belly up to the bar and figure it out cause no one who works there is gonna help. Spaniards sure did though. Had 3 different sandwiches and they were all great. The cava was the best, had 2 botellas de rose. Great time, lively crowd, good food and great prices. 3 sandwiches and 2 botellas de cava for 28 euros...

Yelp
Drinks and food super good. I bought their cava to celebrate my best friends wedding in Portugal and everybody loved it.

Yelp
I wish I had a place like this where I live. The place was packed but not uncomfortably packed when we arrived Saturday around noon. We ordered a platter of meats that included an array of sausages. I was most looking forward to eating their morcilla, and I was not disappointed. As a blood sausage, it wasn't irony at all, charred the right way and it. was. just. good. So... we got an extra plate of more- morcilla! To boot we ordered a couple of their egg and bacon sandwiches and a bottle of wine to share. By the time my group of seven were full and finished our bottle of wine, we asked for the bill and it was only 37€. That's basically 5€ per person to eat great and have a glass of wine with it. Can't beat that. I would eat their egg sandwich with a hulking side of morcilla for breakfast every day if Can Paixano was in my neighborhood.

Yelp
We were aimlessly wandering around Barcelona and found this gem. This tapas bar was filled with a bunch of locals; some came in families, groups, and even solo. The owner personally served us a sampler plate of different types of chorizos. We also ordered some wine. I recommend the roast can Paixano. I'm really glad we found this place and look forward to coming back this weekend. (Btw, this establishment is cash only)

Yelp
If you're looking for an authentic tapas experience in Barcelona this is a place you shouldn't miss! Can Paixano is renowned for its cava and tapas dishes - a glass of cava (blanco or rojo) is €1.25 and a bottle will set you back about €6. The food menu is all in Catalan (which makes things confusing) but it spans a wide selection of plates from croquetas to morcilla to quindillas peppers. Nothing on the menu was over €4.50 and the portions were decent sizes. Knowing a bit of Spanish will definitely help as the staff don't know much English and it's very busy around the bar. If you're looking for somewhere to sit down and have a relaxing meal this isn't the place for you but I'd wholeheartedly recommend it for the food and the atmosphere!

Yelp
This place is everything I love about travel. Cheap booze. Blood sausage. No English. Standing room only. I wish Yelp had a special "6 Star" option just for gems like this! Having stayed in nearby El Born this time last year, my husband and I knew exactly where to go on our eight-hour layover en route to Tel Aviv. After a beach session and a quick freshening up in the public restrooms, we walked through Barceloneta with our book bags to find that nothing had changed about our favorite tapas bar. We squeezed through the crowded room to find a spot at the counter and promptly ordered a bottle of cava (~3 €) and a couple plates of blood sausage and croquettes. (Note: you must order food with your booze, and it's cash only.) After our first round, we found another less traffic-y spot in the back for our second bottle and a couple sandwiches. The secret is definitely out about this place, but it's cool to see such a variety of tourists and locals having fun here. Come with an open mind and no expectations about friendly service or having personal space - ¡salud!

Yelp
You must go here if you are in Barcelona. It is as authentic of a tapas bar as you will come across (with that said they speak almost no English so be prepared for that, but don't let it keep you from going). Every item on the menu is extremely cheap, which allows you to try a lot of different things. Vegetarians stay away as you come here for the abundance of meat options. I got the chorizo and a hamburger with bacon (not your typical American burger though). You must also try their cava (Catalonia's answer to Champagne), which is simply delicious. I went on a weekend night and it was super busy. Be prepared to push up to the bar and order away! Go to sample many tapas, go for the authenticity, go for the cava rose, whatever you do, just go!

Yelp
Cash only and cheap prices! Not much English spoken here. Got a cava, croquettes, this cheesecake thing, and a hamburger - all so delicious and for less than 10 euros. Croquettes were the cheesy kind (rather than stew kind) We were curious what the cheesecake-looking thing next to it was, so we got it. It was good, like a air-y and light cheesecake. "Hamburguesa, Bacón y Pepinillos" was the star of the show. My partner may or may not have picked that off the list of different sandwiches because it was the only thing with a recognizable English word (hamburguesa = hamburger), but regardless it was definitely something I want to eat again!

Yelp
Have you ever been to Kat'z in NY on a busy day? Can Paixana gave off the same vibe. It's probably at max capacity every day. Squeeze your way to the counter and order excessive amounts of inexpensive cava. Get yourself a sandwich or two. I'm pretty sure i left with heartburn but it was 100% worth it. My lomo, panceta y pimientos gave me the calories i needed to power through the rest of the day. It was a little greasy and so good with too-easy-to-drink cava.

Yelp
Very cool place where to drink Cava and have some simple but great food. I had a Entrepan de Botifarra (sausage sandwhich) which I liked a lot. The bar can get extremely busy and packed and it may be challenging to order, take this into consideration.

Yelp
This was the last stop on our Barcelona food tour and it was a memorable ending. This place was packed inside when we showed up and I know why. The meats we tasted were so fresh and flavorful. This place is a must try when you come to España
