Canadian Artisans Bed and Breakfast

We spent 5 days at the Canadian Artisans in the Treehouse Suite. As previous people have said, this is a lovely place & setting. Valerie & Bob were terrific hosts - suggesting places to go, giving us "bear deterrents", and buying food to suit our dietary needs. The breakfast offerings were perfect - homemade breakfast cakes, granola, nut spread included. We enjoyed having breakfast when we wanted it based on our plans for the day. I'm so glad we stayed in Canmore, rather than Banff, since the latter was much too crowded. Canmore town was fun to walk around. One of our favorite hikes was in Canmore - Grassi Lakes.

Val and Bob are the perfect hosts. They have a beautiful property that is conveniently located walking distance from beautiful trails and from central town of Canmore. ||We stayed for 6 nights for our 25th anniversary. The tree house room is up a flight of stairs. There is a kitchenette area with sink and mini-fridge. We bought groceries at the farmers’ market (Thursdays) and the grocery stores which allowed us to get moving early to hit the trails. Val and Bob did have emergency cereal which we did use on two different days—whew!||They checked in with us once a day to find out what we did and give suggestions about what we might do next. Val’s suggestions from hikes to dinner were spot on for our tastes. Val even gave us a little tutorial about bear spray which they have to borrow. ||The king sized bed was very comfortable and there are drawers built in to the bed frame. The shower doubles as a steam shower which felt very good after a long hike. ||We would definitely stay there again(and longer) if we ever get back to the area.

Probably nothing extra to add to all the other reviews! We loved the steam shower, the homemade granola, nut butter and baking, the huge bed and the location (only 5 mins from town but very quiet). Val and Bob made us very welcome and gave some great tips for hikes and food. We would definitely recommend Canadian Artisans to anyone and would love to stay again. Thanks for the loan of the bear spray too - glad we didn’t need it!

This is my 3rd stay at Canadian Artisans, and it’s like coming home - even on the first visit! Val & Bob are the most welcoming people, and the rooms are very welcoming too... their personal touches of whimsy are like a Japanese garden: small things that surprise and delight the eye depending on where you sit. Homey, rustic, craftsy, comfortable... love it here!||Pics are of my room and the “door wall” that separates the bike storage from the deck (on which I’m sitting, enjoying coffee and birdsong...) 😊

One of the best B&B's I've ever stayed at. Perfect location just between downtown Canmore and the river. Everywhere you want to go is just a short walk away from the gorgeous custom built home. So many small details here make this a sanctuary that most places can't compare to. The tree house is a little bigger, quieter and has a steam shower. The forest suite below has a great jet tub. You can't go wrong with either. For your breakfast, bring your own food for the mini fridge or Val & Bob will stock it for you. Or walk a couple blocks to many options downtown. It's a relaxing romantic place to stay.

After visiting (and reviewing) in 2014 we knew when returning to Canmore exactly where we wanted to stay. As before Bob and Valerie made us very welcome and remembered us from our previous visit; and gave us good advice on what to do in the area when the weather turned snowy.||We chose not to take breakfast here in order to have more freedom in seeing the amazing sights in the nearby Banff National Park, which were busy due to the extra visitors with Canada's 150th anniversary. Instead we took advantage of the location being close to the town centre and had some great breakfasts in town.||Although close to the social centre of town the street is quiet; and away from the rail line which runs through the valley; so the night-time freight trains don't wake guests.||We can't recommend staying here enough, it's better than my ability to describe how good staying here is.

Valerie and Bob’s tree house is truly idyllic. Surrounded by trees, and with large windows, you really feel like you are sleeping in the forest. It’s a really romantic and beautiful setting. What’s great is that you feel as though you are far away from civilisation, but you are only a 5 to 10 minute walk from Canmore center . ||Valerie was a truly incredible host; she was kind, thoughtful and thoroughly helpful. A friend of ours had told her it was our honeymoon. We arrived to find she had got us prosecco and chocolates, and Bob had created a decoration above the bed with wooden hearts with our names carved into them! It was a wonderful touch to an already truly beautiful room.  |||The whole house was beautiful, hand made by Bob himself. The room was very large, with a well stocked kitchen and dining table. The bed was very huge and very comfy and the shower / steam capsule was perfect after a long walk. |||Valerie also gave us many suggestions and tips as to what to do and where to go in the area. Her restaurant recommendations were great too!||Every morning she would make us fresh coffee and put on relaxing music so we could really enjoy our breakfast. ||Valerie really did go above and beyond. Let me end with an incredible act of kindness, which we will never forget: during one of our hikes, my camera lens cap fell down the mountain. I casually told Valerie about it when we got back. She immediately started thinking about how to help. All of a sudden, she was on the phone, calling a photographer friend of hers, asking him if he had a spare lens cap, giving him the exact dimension of my lens. The next day, upon returning from an excursion, we found that Valerie had driven to this friend’s house just to collect the cap for me, which I was told was mine to keep! ||Thank you so much, Valerie for being a wonderful host. Your tree house was by far the best place we stayed in during our stay in Canada!||

We have been coming here for many years. Val & Bob are the best hosts. You have a private entrance to either the bottom forest suite or the top treehouse suite. Both suites have everything you need while you’re staying in Canmore. Comfortable bed, blankets, pillows, fridge, sink, dishes, coffee pot, toaster, shower, double soaker tub or steam shower (depending on which suite) plenty of towels, you want for nothing. Located in the best part of town you’re within walking distance to Main Street you don’t have to drive, walking trails directly behind take you to the River. As much as I want to keep this oasis to ourselves Val & Bob deserve your patronage. If you are reading this review you shld book your stay now. I promise you will not be disappointed. Either Suite you can’t go wrong. 😊
