A group of my friends and I stayed in this inn during our week in Panama. The owner of the hotel, Franz, is a wonderful guy. He and another worker, Maria, were extremely hospitable. The hotel was always clean and was a delightful place to stay. Breakfast in the morning was always delicious. The neighborhood of the inn was very safe and peaceful. I wholeheartedly recommend the Canal Inn!

Nice, clean rooms, aircon can be to (to) loud in some rooms. They forgot our airport pick up what wasn't so handy but we just took a taxi. The neigbourhoud is nothing special like a lot of areas in panama city but for the first nights it was an ok spot with a nice splash pool. There was a mini market around 5 minute walk, that was nice. Very nice staff.

We have now stayed twice at the Canal Inn, located in the Boca region of Panama City, near the canal and are planning another stay there at the end of the month. We also recommended the hotel to our kids who also stayed there recently. Host Franz simply cannot do enough to make our stays perfect - even drove us to the Metropolitan Park himself and got Thomas to take us shopping when all the restaurants were closed New Year's Eve. The rooms are spacious, the neighbourhood quiet and the area full of birds. The hotel is easy to get to from the road leading to and from the Bridge of the Americas and is very handy to Albrook bus station and airport. Drives to Tocumen can be arranged.

This hotel is clean and 5 mins from the domestic airport. It is perfectly acceptable for a one night stay. It lies under a bridge which is fairly noisy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is very near the canal so useful for seeing he canal. Other than that I think I wold describe the hotel as fairly average

I bring small groups of entomologist's to Panama several times a year, and we stay at the Canal Inn whenever we are in Panama City (have stayed here at least 12 times over the last 3-4 years). It's convenient to all the highways link to other parts of the country, and the domestic airport (Gelabert/old Albrook Air Force Base) is 5 minutes away. It is NOT located near Tocumen, as one reviewer states in his review. ||||The owner, Franz, his nephew Ovin, Maria, Gloria, and DeMarie make you feel like you're at home when staying there. The rooms and beds are comfortable, and it's located in a quiet neighborhood next to the Bridge of the Americas.

My Rating: 3.8||Highlights: Close to domestic airport (Tocumen)-5 minute ride||Lowlights: Room has small windows no real ventilation. Monkey on a chain||We stayed at Canal Inn for 1 night since we had an early flight to Bocas Del Toro. (Think flight was just after 6 a.m.) Chose Canal Inn since it seemed to be the closest place to stay near the domestic Panama City airport. The Inn arranged a ride for us from international airport to Canal Inn. Cost $40. Inn is close to Canal but do not think you can walk to the canal. Inn cost $80 for 2 people (their website is a bit confusing on this) and included breakfast which they allowed us to make ourselves, though they had little available to make. Tomas, a staff member, was very helpful. They ran out of beer ($2) but they went and got more ASAP. Cost $10 to get a ride to domestic airport. The Inn itself is ok but needs some repairs. Had air conditioning in room which worked fine. Do not expect too much in the way of service, but they are helpful arranging rides to airports and to restaurants. Rooms small and basic. Room had small windows so not well ventilated. Bed really small. The property itself is not much bigger than the Inn, looked a lot larger on the website. Descent pool out front. Almost under the Bridge of the Americas but we did not find it too noisy. Not many places to eat within walking distance, maybe one or two. We took a taxi to the canal to eat.

Clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff did not have a strong presence, usually not even at the desk. It wasn't a big problem for us but might have been under different circumstances. There was a refrigerator in the kitchen that we put a few drinks in. Breakfast was efficient as they took it out of a steam table they have set up to sell to people in a little kiosk they have. Eggs were not as fresh and a bit cold. Cats around. We like cats so that was OK>
