Reception staff Chimi and Paul were really pleasant, attentive and professional. Security guard Ali was very helpful and willing to go the extra mile. Excellent view from rooftop bar and excellent service . Buffet breakfast was reasonable for the price. Rooms had very outdated carpets and aircon that could benefit from an upgrade . Bed was not comfortable and old. Pretty good location near to city with light rail just across the road . The free parking is just outside with no security door or gate . Also , we chose this hotel for the indoor heated pool but apparently the heater in the pool was not working and they couldn’t get anyone to fix it as it was a weekend.

We recently stayed at the Canberra Rex Hotel as a family of three, traveling from Sydney to celebrate the New Year. While there were some positive aspects, our overall experience was disappointing.Starting with the positives, the reception staff were very nice and courteous, which we appreciated. We liked that it is very near a light rail station and quite close to parks, restaurants, and cafes. The layout of the hotel posed challenges. Our room was quite far from the lifts, and with only two lifts positioned side by side in a corner of the building, accessibility was inconvenient. It seems the hotel design is to blame, as the lifts are not centrally located like in most hotels. One of the biggest letdowns was the pool. We specifically chose this hotel for its pool, hoping our little one could enjoy it. Unfortunately, the pool heater was not working, and the water was freezing cold. To make matters worse, we noticed some bugs in the pool, which was unsettling. The staff wouldn’t have known the heater wasn’t working if we hadn’t informed them. It felt like the pool's maintenance and condition were overlooked, which was a major disappointment for us. Had we known that we won't be able to enjoy the pool, we would've settled in a hotel that is far more affordable. As compensation for the pool issue, we requested and were granted a late check-out, which was a kind gesture from the hotel. However, it didn’t feel adequate given the inconvenience and disappointment we experienced.Additionally, the King Suite we stayed in had some practical flaws. It only had one bin, which was insufficient for a family of three, as it filled up quickly. Another inconvenience was the shower area, which didn’t have any shelves. This meant we had to place shampoo and conditioner bottles on the floor while showering, which was far from ideal.Overall, while the reception staff’s service was commendable, the hotel fell short in terms of facilities and maintenance. I hope the management takes these points into consideration for future guests.

We spent an extended weekend in Canberra recently. The Canberra Rex Hotel was just right for us: very clean, good service, balcony off our room. We attended a party upstairs at The Howling Moon at their roof top bar on the Saturday night. That was perfect! So well run. We took public transport most of the time-tram just on the corner of the hotel. Convenient location. All good.

I am currently staying in this hotel. Location is very good. There is a tram stop nearby, but I have been walking into the city centre in about a 15 mins easy walk.|My room is clean and comfortable and the bathroom looks like a fairly recent refurbishment. There is no view from my Crown Suite, just the apartment block right next door. |My only complaint is that both the bar on L6 and the restaurant for breakfast on L5 are freezing cold from the air-con. Everyone was commenting at breakfast. I left both venues very quick as they are just too cold to relax and therefore won’t visit them again during my stay. Food and drinks were both fine but why have it so ridiculously cold?|This hotel is a good stay and reasonable price, just be prepared with warm clothes in Summer if you want to eat and drink here.

Stayed here at Rex for a 3 night weekend .. not quite the place I would be returning to Pro - King size 4th level room is spacious, even has a pull out bed , two television with convenient wall socket for TV attachments, tea and biscuits , Shower pressure is good and 2 toilets Cons - No vacuum with daily service so expect the carpet to be filthy, flying bugs in the room, you can feel every spring on the King Bed, shower temperature comes in and out ? .. sitting furniture is super uncomfortable .. and did I mention how dirty the carpet is Value for money not great

Great room. Renovated and roomy. A bit noisy when neighbours shower and slammed doors. Wedding and seminars were on so busy with shortage of parking. Food - room service and roof top meals were terrific. Room service, restaurant and housekeeping staff were excellent. Check-in and check-out desk staff were rude, unhelpful and condescending. The only poor service staff on our 25 day Vic NSW and ACT road trip.

The staff here were extremely helpful from the accommodation manager Paul to the waiters at table. A very good experience to say the least. A special mention to James who looked after us during our convention for morning, afternoon tea and lunch. Not a complaint from me.

Yelp
Amazing venue for our strategic planning days. I was fortunate to have the one bedroom apartment, simply amazing, well appointed great view of black mountain amazing indoor pool great service. The bed was amazing, great food at the event dinner and our coach driver was fantastic with a rockstar style executive coach with leather seats and USB wifi to top it off. Simply the event venue to book in Canberra.
