I had a wonderful experience with the candle making class! There were 5 of us in class (4 no-showed!), and I was the only solo traveler there. Kat, our chandler, was such a ray of sunshine. Super friendly and talkative but perfectly so. I was so lucky to have other friendly students in my class too, so I didn't feel like I was alone the whole time. To top it off, Kat wrote all of us hand-written cards to go along with our candles when I picked mine up, and it wasn't just a generic note. She mentioned details from conversations we had during class, which I felt was a very heartwarming gesture - she was truly listening and actively engaged with each student. My only qualm was that it may not have been worth quite the amount of money. It would have been nice to make two candles of different scents, or an accessory to go with the candle, but overall I had an enjoyable in-person experience due to the people I was surrounded by.

The class was an amazing experience!! However, the candles don’t fully burn and will burn down into the a circle. The one teaching the class explained exactly what to do so that this would not happen. Unfortunately, 3 out of 5 of our groups candles will not fully burn :( we’re super bummed out about it. The class was worth it though, such a cool experience.

Took a BYOB Candle Making Class with my boyfriend while on vacation. Angel made the Class so much fun, and interesting for all of us! The Candles came out amazing. The store had so many different scents and options for each scent! The employees were amazing and the store was beautiful!

Had a great candle making experience with Deanna. Everyone was nice but it was beautiful to see one do the employees run out in the poring rain to offer some candlefish bags to a soaking wet gentleman who just lost all his groceries not eh ground due to the target bags ripping when wet. She stood out there, getting soaked, and helped him load the new bags as well. So nice

Took a candle making class with Angel. She is so outgoing and funny. My mom, sister, and I had the best time. Plus we made 2 candles with our favorite scents. Highly recommend!

Who would have thought that making candles was so fun? Well this was truly a fun way to spend our First Ladies Trip to Charleston! The store itself is bright and inviting. The staff are all amazing too! I love that each scent is numbered so there is no prejudging a particular name of a candle. They offer 100 different scents which all have different scent profiles. We were lucky in that we didn’t prebook our class but they had spots available. I suggest reserving a spot online before going. The class was taught by Jaxx. Y’all she is so cool! Loved her energy and how she guided us through the complete candle making process. During the class they offer 20 different scents that you can create your candles from. Scent number 75 was what I chose and I can’t wait to get mine home to burn them. One thing to note is that your candles have to cure overnight so if you’re from out of town, plan accordingly or they can ship your order. Once class was finished we opted to look around and sniff more scents. Every store needs a Joanna. She is so fun and you can tell she loves her job. I’m so happy we decided to check this place out as it’s definitely going in rotation to visit again and order in the future.

Google
Mallory and Caroline were AMAZING it was only Caroline’s second day when me and my three-year-old child were trying to find a place for her to use the restroom. Nine different stores turned us down and Caroline and Mallory immediately showed us the way to the bathroom. Offered us free water even though we purchased nothing nothing I would recommend recommend this establishment to anyone that’s looking for a good experience and always search out for Mallory or Caroline..

Loved this place! Highly recommend! Our chandler, Dylan was very informative and fun! We all(bachelorette party) live out of city and had our products shipped. My package came in within a few days and was packaged very well. I lit my candle and the smell has lasted forever! Great experience! 😊

Yelp
I have been fascinated with retail ever since I could remember. So much so, I have a degree in fashion merchandising. I firmly believe that there is a certain type of magic in retail and there are some stores that have figured out that magic. One of the types of magic is they have figured out how to captivate you with a scent in their store that will transport you to a whole other world. Candlefish is a double whammy. Not only is it a candle store, they have that transport magic. This was my first visit to Charleston & to Candlefish. The store smelled amazing. I immediately walked up to a girl at the candle library & asked what they were burning. She showed me a tomato & basil candle. It smelled just like a summer tomato garden. I was intrigued, but asked her what she recommended. It was candle scent number 70; it is used in a lot of Charleston hotels. I thought that would be perfect to buy to remember my trip. I wish I would've spent more time smelling the other candles, but I was so biased at No. 70's scent - I stopped right there. They also have some fun giftables and a huge workshop area!

Sapphire M.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a little candle roulette. They have a wall of 100 different candle blends to the right, labeled only by number. It sounds overwhelming, but I promise it's not. Their 10 most popular are laid out on the counter, making it fun to see which scents you like. There was an employee there to offer assistance and answer questions. He asked me what I usually go for, and showed me his favorite lavender blend (number 79), which I had to have. The candles in the rest of the shop have their scent blends on the packaging, so you can browse the rest of their cute displays with full transparency. Candles are 100% soy wax and reasonably priced compared to other shops in the area. I'm also excited to try their candle making workshop. My friend is set on doing this for her Bachelorette, which is apparently popular for many other brides to be.

Whitney L.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of attending a candle making workshop at Candlefish, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! Angel was our amazing chandler, and she made the entire experience unforgettable. Not only was she incredibly fun to be around, but she was also so knowledgeable and informative about the art of candle making. For $65 per person, we spent an hour and a half making 2 9 oz candles and we got to pick from a huge variety of scents. I can't recommend this class enough for anyone looking for a unique and entertaining activity. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion like a bachelorette party or simply want to try something new, Candlefish is the place to be. Thank you to Angel and the entire team for such a memorable experience!

Yelp
Shoutout to Mark for leading such a fun class and being patient with our goofy behinds lol it was so much fun to have a girls night out with this class. It was my 2nd time doing a class here and this time did the neat Mercury vintage vessel for $65 compared to the $60 glass edition. I also liked how my notes from my QR code of the last class saved the flavor notes I liked/disliked so there is a perk of using the online code to keep up to date with your favorite scent numbers. They also offer old school paper and pencil to track your favorite scent. Upon the class starting, there's some housekeeping and safety stuff to go over. After that it's up to you to pick out the scent of your choice by going around the room and sniffing out which number speaks to your soul. I like how Mark had an idea of what we would like based off of our intro ice breakers and needless to say, he was pretty spot on!! Loved that part! After we all picked our scent, it was the hands on component of measuring, mixing, and making spirits bright with banter and fun conversations! The only con is that you are only able to pick one scent for your 2 candles. It'd be nice to maybe half the wax and scent to include 2 types of scents vs. just one. At some other candle places they allow you to pickup the candle a few hours later with the discrepancy to ensure the candle sets longer at home vs here you must wait 24 hours to pickup with a grace period of 1-2 weeks, just call them if it's longer than a week. They do offer shipping of flat rate $18 and as a perk for taking the class, 15% off merchandise in the store. Compared to the last class I did 2 years ago, this session included more flavor notes to sniff out. Sometimes it gets overwhelming with all the options but I settled with a holiday scent 52! If anything, you can purchase your other favorite scents from their collection. Great rainy day activity and local business to support for the gift-giver in all of us -- or even to treat yourself!

Alison M.

Yelp
Very cute store - loaded with holiday sale items when I visited (New Years Eve 2023). It was busy and crowded but easy enough to walk around and view/smell the wares. Candles are seriously expensive. They smell lovely and I found some I'd have liked to purchase in some pretty stamped metal containers but I didn't want to spend $40 for a small candle. I'd like to come back and make some myself however and will try to make that happen when next I'm in town. Very unique scents and items for sale in here. A fun visit right off King Street.

Clarissa E.

Yelp
My husband and I had such an amazing time at our candle making workshop! Jennifer was so professional and made the class both educational and fun for all the participants. We had over 100 scents to choose from however she helped everyone get acquainted with the process so we didn't feel overwhelmed and understood. We all walked away with two custom candles with the option to have them shipped for a flat rate or to be picked up once curated. This was such a wonderful experience we'll never forget!

Kathryn J.

Yelp
I knew this would be awesome, but the candlemaking class blew me away. It was led by two of the most helpful individuals I've ever met. They made the class fun, they were informative and clearly love Candlefish. The class was the perfect length off time. You get to make two candles (with the same scent). The biggest challenge is really picking the scents! So many to choose from! You make your label. You pour some wax, you pour your oil, mix mix mix, then pour. Add your wick and Voila! You have yourself a candle. You can byob which is a nice bonus. Finally, they give you a discount to shop at the end. What's better than that?

Dana R.

Yelp
I signed up for the candle making class at Candlefish and overall I would say it was an ok experience. The environment and ambiance of the store was welcoming, and it's a great place to unwind and have a few drinks. The class is BYOB and they offer complimentary bubbles as well if you prefer. The class started with us introducing ourselves and reviewing what we would be getting our hands into. Our chandler, Haven, was very friendly and answered any questions we had about candle caretaking, as well as pointing out several tips on how to make your candle last longer. Although I had a great time making candles, I was a bit disappointed with the limited selection of scents to choose from. I wasn't able to mix scents to create a unique fragrance, and I could only use one fragrance for the two candles we made. Also, the scents you create are already available for purchase in the store, so it didn't feel as personalized as I had anticipated. Overall I had an enjoyable experience, however it's not something I would recommend at the top of my list. I wouldn't say it felt scammy, but I don't like how I spent $60 on a candle making class for the same scent that I could purchase in the store for a cheaper price. You're essentially paying for the hour experience of the candle making process which is basically mixing and measuring fragrance and hot wax. It's super simple, and if you're into candles and learning the process, maybe the $60 is worth it to you, but personally it wasn't for me.

Yelp
One of the most unique candle shops you may ever find and it's not chain. The variety is staggering. Find them off King Street with off street and garage parking. Expect them to be busy! They were full with customers as my daughter and I browsed. They also have a back room area for candle making parties. When their they were setting up. Although we ended up not purchasing anything my candle loving daughter really liked them and we shopped them twice. No staff was on the floor to assist was the only negative. Instructions of how to navigate would have been extremely helpful and likely led to a sale. 4.5 rounding down. Recommend!

Marcelle M.

Yelp
Went for a corporate team bonding activity. A bit pricey at $70/person but you take home 2 candles. Our instructor was entertaining and the class lasts about 1 hour. Cute store on main streets in Charleston

Jean M.

Yelp
My daughter and I did the candle making class. It was very organized and lots of fun. We learned a lot about candles! You get to make two candles per person. The only downside is that you can only pick one scent for both of your candles. And you can't choose any scent in the store. They have a smaller selection of scents for the candle class. Also, it was super loud in the store with the music and the shoppers. We could barely hear our instructor. If you go, be sure to know you can't take your candles home that day. You have to go back the next day to pick them up or they will ship them for a fee.

Yelp
A review of the Candle making class: I got tickets for a candle making class for myself and a friend on a Sunday at 10am. We were lucky enough to snag the last two tickets for Sunday for a fully booked weekend! Highly recommend booking as early as possible (in person or online) They had classes on Saturday and Sunday at 10a, 12p, 2p, 4p & 6p. They told us classes usually run about an hour and a half Classes are $60 and include the class and 2 candles you can take home but need to pick up the next day after 10am (or you can get them shipped for an additional $12) You can't make two candles with two different scents. We showed up at 10am and the store was not open yet, so class started about 5 minutes late. Once you get through ice breakers, etc., you then get the opportunity to smell 20 different scents and within 8-10 minutes decide which one you want to use for your candles. Note: It did not feel like enough time to smell and choose which scent you wanted and I felt very rushed to make a decision. Others felt the same. I would have appreciated extra time since we started late and/or shortened the ice breaker to have more time to go through the scents. Otherwise, I would recommend either going the day before or giving yourself some time before class starts to go through the scents so you can take your time making a decision. Overall the class was still a good experience and I did learn some new things about candles that I did not know otherwise!

Yelp
If I could live here I would. Boob and butt candles? Yes please. Candle making workshops? Hell yes. Please open on in Maryland!

Emily V.

Yelp
We did a workshop here and had a great time! Elisha was a wonderful and accommodating teacher. Super reasonable price for the fun class and two candles. Also love all the fun shopping to do after - their store has wonderful candles and home goods. The staff are all friendly and kind.

Heidi H.

Yelp
What a fun shop! Definitely a different candle shop. The candles do not have scents listed on them. They are by number. A staff member Lexx was super friendly and helpful. She asked our favorite scents and picked candles for us to smell. Everyone in our group purchase at least one candle. They also offer classes. You get to make two candles. Wish we had more time to stay for a class.

Kaelin C.

Yelp
Finally did the candle making class and it was so fun!! Have to reserve in advance! You get to take two candles home with you, and the experience is worth it just as much. The candlefish library is such a cool concept; you go up to the bar and you tell them what kind of scents you like and they pick some out for you to smell. They're labeled by number so if you know what number you like, you can just tell them what number you want and buy it. My candlefish candles are one of my favorite things in my home.

Bob B.

Yelp
What the difference between a regular candle and one from Candlefish? You won't know until you take the class. The secret is no petroleum. I've been to the store at Charleston several times, this time I am reviewing my online purchase. I had the opportunity to be graciously served my Natalia which helped with two of my online orders going to two different addresses. She recommend several candles to me. I was a bit disappointed that the store could not find my card on file of my preferred candle scent. Natalia helped recommend and packed my items that made it look like a gift within a gift. Candle purchasing is easy over the phone and online. The big challenge is how do you purchase a Candle making workshop? Well the answer is.... Give them a call and they will help set you up certificates for upcoming classes.

Valerie H.

Yelp
I could live in candlefish, it is so cozy! I love how the scents are categorized by number, not scent as to strike a cord with our memory. The store is amazing and I highly recommend BYOB candle class (I've been 4 times :) )

Nat B.

Yelp
I actually didn't have an appreciation for candles until I came here. Super cool to see a variety of candles with subtle smells that aren't over-empowering like Yankee Candles. It's expensive, but you're paying for quality. Definitely a must see when you're in Charleston!

Wilhelmina L.

Yelp
The store is visual eye candy for sure. If you appreciate pretty things, wander into Candlefish and enjoy! Candlefish is an awesome Charleston company. Lovely spot to pick up gifts for someone. Obviously they specialize in candles, and you can grab a finished product or go to their scent library and figure out what you like! They have a ton of non candles gift items too. They always have the best cards, little jewelry, and trinkets that feel special and unique. It's on the pricier side but it is worthwhile to spend it on a local spot. They do candle making events as well - I've never done one but I've seen many a bachelorette doing their thing!

Kimberly S.

Yelp
I wanted to love this candle making class. Unfortunately it was not what I expected. What I was looking for was an actual lesson on candle making fragrances. I would like to know different top/middle/base notes that make up a candle and what scents go best together. But what the class is, is picking out one of their already established scents, adding it to already melted wax and then pooring into two glass jars. A lot of money for just sitting there listening to really bad and insensitive jokes from the "teacher" and stirring some wax and oil together.

Misty P.

Yelp
The shoppe is adorable for sure and has some unique products.we took the make your own class and Our candler was informative and very high energy. We read about the scent library and was disappointed to find the class only includes 20 different scents that are already sold in store. The class seemed drawn drawn out: over an hour to smell 20 scents, measure / pour two ingredients and write your name and scent number on a pre made label. After picking up the finish product, the candle tops were bumpy and the candle not very fragrant, but was a unique experience.

Madison K.

Yelp
I'm in love with store right on King Street! They have a giant selection of candles including candle making classes! All of their stuff is unique and adorable. I got a grow your own cactus, a few stickers, and a plant keychain. Everything is great quality and the workers are so nice. The inside of the store is so clean and aesthetically pleasing! Check this place out!

Julie A.

Yelp
I recently moved to Charleston and found Candlefish. From the moment I stepped in I was greeted. I had the best experience finding a couple of candles to purchase. I even loved the glass candle displays and they made sure to assist me in getting exactly what I wanted. Absolutely great place and the candles smell amazing.

Justin B.

Yelp
My wife really wanted to do this. I wasn't sure about it being all masculine and all. However I really enjoyed making and learning about candles! You get to make two candles. Since Mother's Day is around the corner I made my mom one. I chose scent 087. Our instructor Stephanie was awesome! She was super through and really knew her stuff! So this is pretty much the same model as painting with a twist. BYOB and all that jazz. I don't know if another place you can make candles. So I highly suggest it while you're here.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
After spending the day at Sippin Santa (both eating and drinking our calories), a friend and I definitely needed to walk things off. "DO YOU WANNA GO TO CANDLEFISH?!" "YAS!" And that is precisely what we did. You cannot walk down King St without a visit to Candlefish. I love stationary and cute gifts, which they have in addition to their wonderfully created candles. They also sell local artists' work. I can't wait to get a girl group together and do a candle making class!

Marissa G.

Yelp
Love the experience here!! I definitely recommend stopping by to either join in the candle making workshop or to just shop. There are so many amazing products to shop for here. I came here with a large group as part of a Bachelorette party and really enjoyed learning about candles and making them too! It was really simple - every step is broken down to make it super fun and easy! The staff is really friendly as well. Oh & bring your own wine and tumblers with you!

Ashley G.

Yelp
I came here a few weeks ago for a girls day and thoroughly enjoyed the candle making class. Our instructor was very informative and comical. I learned a lot of things about candles that I never knew... like don't blow them out (who knew!?!). They have a BILLION scents and the wax "on tap" is way cool! The only thing that knocked them down from 5 to 4 stars was the fact that the class is rather pricy and you get to make two candles BUT they only let you pick one scent for both candles. It would be a lot more enjoyable if you got to pick two different scents and I don't think it would be that difficult to accommodate. Just have two different pitchers of wax and scents. Overall though, a fun experience for a girls day!

Scotty C.

Yelp
The candle making class was so much fun! I was surprising a friend and I wasn't sure what time we would get there so I waited to book our time until just before the start time. You can probably only do this if you're going at an off time like I was (early afternoon on a Friday), but it's great to know you're not required to book weeks in advance. If you're looking at peak times or have more than one or two guests, I would suggest booking as soon as possible. There was only one other person signed up for our class so we had a semi private sit down with our chandler. If you can force yourself to go at an off time, I would say this made for a better experience compared to a full table. To get the class started right, definitely BYOB. They provide glassware and have a mini fridge to keep things cold. We stopped on the way and picked up a bottle of wine and were glad we did. Then take your wine and sit at your station which is set up like you're about to start chemistry lab in high school. You've got a metal tray with beakers and such with a smattering of other necessary safety accessories. First a bit of education and background before you start smelling all the things. Instead of creating your own unique fragrance (which would likely smell awful), they provide you with popular options based on what you like. Don't know what you like, no problem! You'll do a blind smell test of a bunch of different scents until you narrow down a handful that you're interested in. Eventually you do have to choose one and move forward. You'll end up getting two jar candles and they will both be this scent so you better like it. Pair up with a friend or another classmate if you want to trade one for one and mix things up. From there things really get hands on. You beasure out your fragrance and wax then mix the two together before pouring your own candles. The whole process took close to two hours but you could probably speed it up if you didn't dilly dally. We were all having fun and taking our time. We learned a ton about fragrance and candle do's and don'ts plus we had an excellent afternoon. Considering you get two candles per person it almost covers the cost of admission. I keep forgetting to pick up my candles but I can't wait to get the finished product home and test out my creation. If you're visiting town they can also mail your candles to you for a small fee making it super convenient if you can't make it back the next day and/or don't want to travel with wax and glass.

Dina W.

Yelp
Candlefish is such an adorable shop. I've passed by this place so many times and never stopped in. My coworkers and I decided to take a candle making class. From start to finish, the workshop takes about 1 hour and a half. It was so much fun! Each participant makes two candles, which have customized labels that make it even more special. Our chandler, Jenny, was nice and knowledgeable. She engaged with the entire group. She thoroughly explained the differences between types of candles and offered suggestions on increasing the burn time of candles. The candles have to set overnight so you can't take them home immediately. The store is bright, spacious, and perfectly organized. The entire store is picturesque but the candle library makes the perfect backdrop for Instagram pictures. They sell a variety of merchandise including jewelry, candles (of course), books, artwork, and plenty of other items that makes great gifts. The class is a bit pricey but overall it's a good experience. Oh and did I mention it is BYOB.

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
My family and I had a great time with the candle making class at Candlefish. Haven was our instructor, very informative and lively. Definitely added a unique aspect to our vacation to come home with candles we had made ourselves. (Though if you are visiting Charleston and planning to do the candle making class, do it a day or few days before your trip ends b/c you cannot take your candles with you once the class ends since they need to set for 12+ hours). The store was unique too and we couldn't help ourselves from purchasing even more candles. If back in Charleston or if I ran into another Candlefish store, I would definitely stop in to purchase more candles. Definitely recommend the candle making class too!

Andrea F.

Yelp
We booked a class with 7 girls as part of a bachelorette weekend - it was the perfect activity in the midst of shopping and eating. Our chandler was funny and outgoing and made sure we enjoyed our experience. As part of the class, you get to take home two full sized candles, which are ready the day after you take the class.

Chelsea T.

Yelp
I found out on my trip to Charleston that Candlefish is owned by the makers of Rewined candles! So you KNOW these are amazing products - and if you sign up for a workshop, you get to be the chandler of your own candle! The Candlefish store itself is bright, clean and smells AMAZING inside. If I could design my own personal library, I would want it to fit the aesthetic of the Charleston Candlefish location. I thought it was so cute that you get a little library card to take notes on all the different scents that you love. Candlefish offers 100 different scents, so you can expect to find several that you enjoy here. The trick is narrowing it down to one for the workshop! These classes fill up really fast, but I really didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to do a workshop at Candlefish while we were in town. If you are in a similar boat, I recommend giving the shop a call and asking if they have any seats available/have had anyone drop from the class you want to join. Then give them your number in case any seats open up before your preferred time! This worked great for us and we feel so lucky to have had this experience. If I were to come back to Charleston for another trip, I would love to take my girlfriends here. The candle making classes are perfect for a Bachelorette Party or a family outing. The hands-on creative experience of making your own candles was really fun, we could bring our own drinks, our chandler (Jenny) was warm, personable, and hilarious, and we learned so much! We loved learning about the scents we're drawn to, then making that scent come to life in full-sized candles to melt at home! Plus, that 15% discount on all other Candlefish merchandise was absolutely irresistible. On top of the four candles we made during the workshop (two candles of two different scents), we bought an additional scent with our discount. I really hope I find my way back to Charleston to do this again!

Ryan C.

Yelp
We did a candle making class, Beth was excellent and very informative! I really didn't know what I was getting into and truly thought it would be boring. However Beth made it fun and interesting. Side note it is BYOB, Restoration about 1/2 block away gives a discount for booze for the class!

Jules B.

Yelp
The candle making class is a must try if you have a couple hours on your hands and are able to run by the next day to pick your finished candle up (takes some time to harden). I recently scheduled a class with a friend visiting from out of town and we had a blast! Our instructor, Lindsey, was really funny and also very knowledgable about the ingredients and candle making process. The BYOB class starts with an introduction to the company and candles they make / offer. They have 100 pre-mixed oils (made by chemists off site) that are numbered 1-100. This allows you to have a blind scent experience without any pre determined ideas about your preferred scents. During the class they lay out about 20 varying options to choose from, if you aren't a fan of any just let the instructor know and she/he will help you find a scent among the other options. Note: you don't get to mix oils in this class, you just choose one pre-made oil. It was hard to pick just one, but I settled on 83 because it seemed like it will be great for Fall. We then were able to start the process of mixing the wax and scent and getting our jar set up. You leave with two decently sized candles that are supposed to burn for 50+ hours each due to the high quality materials used. I'm looking forward to burning them and plan to return next time my parents visit from out of town. This is a great activity for all ages, genders, and occasions!

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! We did the candle making class. Very informative and fun! The varying scents available are amazing and the staff was very helpful. Highly recommended! Thank you Haven (teacher) for a fun night!

Yelp
For my bachelorette party weekend in Charleston, my maid of honor booked us a candle making class. It was out of the box for a bachelorette and the instructor was great! I brought 2 candles home and since I lit them about 3-4 months after they were made the fragrance nearly disappeared. I'm not sure if it was the scents I picked or perhaps that's too long for this type of candle to retain fragrance. Regardless, I'm a little disappointed that my candles don't even smell like anything at all.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my 30th birthday and we had McKenzie. First of all, she is the sweetest, second of all, she is hilarious! We had an excellent time and McKenzie did a fantastic job (it was her first time teaching the class...you never would have guessed it.) This is perfect for a date night, girls night, want to learn something new kind of night. If you get McKenzie, you'll have a great time & will definitely laugh! It was relaxing, I learned a lot about what it takes to be a Chandler, and now I'll have something to burn in my apartment...safely. Bring your beer/wine/tea/coffee. Also, you get 15% off the entire store after taking the class

Yelp
This was a horrible experience the store if you never have been in is overwhelming it needs instructions but the workers are more interested in talking to each other than they are in helping their customers learn how to experience the store. Management you would sell lots more if your workers engaged their customers

Yelp
Adorable little shop! I had tried to book a candle-making workshop for my girl friends and me while we were in Charleston about a month ago, but unfortunately, the (very limited) available time slots just didn't work with our schedule. Make a reservation far in advance if you'd like a specific day/time or if you have several people in your group! We still decided to briefly check out the shop, during which time I purchased a really cool pair of earrings. Fun fact - this shop was opened by the candle makers who created Rewined candles. I had no idea! I hope to take one of their workshops at either this Candlefish or the Atlanta location sometime in the near future.

Yelp
My niece and I had a lovely time! Maddie was our chandler and she kept us crackin up! Everyone was nice and friendly, and we loved the atmosphere

Yelp
I first dragged my boyfriend to come in here because I love any and all candles when we were walking to dinner. It's a beautiful store that sells mostly candles with some other things like cards and jewelry. They have their own brand, but carry other small business/local brands. When I saw that they have a workshop space in the back, I knew I had to see if I could take one while I was still in the area. This is the original candle making workshop! Thankfully, they had one available on Monday morning (not typical from what they tell me) and I had such a blast. It's BYOB, but even if you aren't drinking, it doesn't take anything away from the workshop itself. I went by myself (typical :P) but quickly made friends with the bachelorette party and a pair of friends who were in the workshop with me. The workshop itself isn't mindblowing (you pick a scent, pour it out, let it set), but it is really interesting to participate the process itself and learn about the scents more in depth than if you were to just walk into the store. After all, they do have 100 scents! Jennifer is super knowledgeable about the whole candle making process and really gives you a behind the scenes look at how Candlefish operates. Jennifer was super attentive to us and answered all my nosy questions! As someone who has worked in scent based retail before, you can tell she is the real deal. I really hope that Candlefish will open a location in Boston because I will be the first one in line to submit my application!

Yelp
As a living and breathing female, there are few things on this earth that I enjoy more than candles. It's so cliche, I know, but it's true! I was already the proud owner of a few Rewined candles (Riesling, Spiked Cider... mmm) so when my sister told me she had signed us up for a Make-Your-Own-Candle class, I was really excited. Our chandler (new wrinkle in my brain: I didn't know a "chandler" was a candle maker!) was Jennifer and she very, very patiently walked us through picking our favorite scents and assembling our own unique candles. The staff here are so knowledgeable; you can tell them what sort of scents you like and they know exactly which scent number to pull down for you. I wish we had been able to combine scents (like, put a dash of #49 and a dash of #72) but maybe that's a thought for next time. During the break while the wax was cooling and again after class we were able to walk through the store (with a 15% discount!). I fell in love with a number of their other lines (Boyfriend Candle and Product lines specifically) and purchased 2 additional candles to bring home. I will be set for life with candles thanks to Candlefish. I love the local business feel, the high ceilings and the openness to this building. It isn't easy to market candles, especially when you don't use fancy colors and cheap wax, but Candlefish does a great job of this.

Yelp
Lovely shop! The selection of candles is amazing! I believe there's almost 90 different scents. The shop is full of different gifts as well and there's even candle making work shops. My favorite scents are number 8 and 70

Yelp
This might be the cutest shop in Charleston. I have No.32 and it's the only candle you need in your life. It smells so good. Don't like candles? No problem because they have a variety of other things here - my favorite 42 Pressed map prints, Island Haus Paperie goodies, adorable cards, cute little handheld fans, journals and so much more. Lots of great gift options!

Yelp
Note to self when writing a review proof before submitting. I had spent a lot of money on Gift Cards for a large group I had from out of town. Although I appreciate the response, it is vital to understand you only get 1 time to make a 1st impression, a stamp on a valued customer card would have been worth the ink used to resolve, what now is a lasting impression on my wallet. Not to mention, the 14 women who were here for the 1st time in Charleston. Better training of Staff is vital in todays ever changing economy.

Yelp
We had a stellar experience at Candlefish. Bring your own wine is also a nice touch! It was clean, safe, and our chandler, Will, was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about scent chemistry and the art of blending. Scientific and fun while keeping his class engaged and happy. He walked us through about 10 of their most popular scents and then we were able to dial in our preferences more from the initial 10 samples to really explore our personal tastes before we poured our own wax and blended the oils. We had a blast and would highly recommend both Will as your chandler and the total Candlefish experience. Top notch and super fun!

Yelp
The candle making class was the perfect activity for a Sunday morning with our bachelorette group- Informative, interesting, and unique. Plus you get the keepsake of 2 candles! Hanna our chandler was helpful, sweet and seems to love what she does. The whole experience is intriguing - to smell first and then see what invokes immediate love or dislike of scents. I didn't find one i was in love with among the 20 selected but knew I liked the smell of tobacco/cigars and they were so helpful in selecting a few others that would stand out. The shop is beautiful and the library lends a great background to get a good 'gram.

Yelp
I'm not the kind of person to normally leave a review, but i'm truly so blown away! Candlefish is not only a lovely place to buy candles, it's truly an experience. Everything about it is divine, the studio is so clean, the products are so high quality and the staff is amazing!! I was helped by Kit and he is so patient and kind! All I did was tell him my vibes and he gave me the most perfect candle!! I'm 100% coming back simply because of his personality and expertise (and my candles of course) 10/10 recommended!!
