We will start with the fact that the room was cold, but we turned on the heater. The sink and toilet were not clean and someone had left pistachio shells visible in plain sight on the dusty floor by one of the beds. In addition, there was a long curly black hair on the hand towel. We left the shells and disinfected the bathroom. Twice, the ice maker in the refrigerator dumped out the new ice - think freight train rolling through your room. At 1:00 AM a large group of extremely inconsiderate people came in talking very loudly and including an actual scream, and proceeded to slam and bang around for around half an hour - think an entire crew of construction workers demolishing and replacing floor and wall tiles in the hallway outside of your apartment. Due to the nearly empty nature of the parking lot and 8 floors in the building, one could deduce it would have been relatively easy to assign these very disruptive latecomers to a secluded area of the building so as not to disturb the other paying customers on their arrival. Worst of all, even though my BMI is in the healthy, not overweight range, sinking down down down into the SUPER SOFT U shaped bed was literally painful for most of my joints. It is just padded with puffery to poorly disguise its complete lack of support. I don’t know how it is even possible to find such a useless bed to purchase. I think I would have slept as well in the car at a rest area, although it would have been colder, since it is December, and my daughter would not have had a shower, which had no problems. So for this, was it worth the price? You decide. For me: no.

Rooms and property are clean. Some of the front desk staff are fairly pleasant. No housekeeping until you've stayed seven days. Seems like a newer build. Comfortable beds. Very soft if that's your thing. Location works for my needs but don't expect to walk to restaurants and/or shopping from here. You'll definitely want a car.

Hotel was neat, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Easy walk to peoples bank arena. Only issue was they didnt honor a promotional rate they gave me at booking. Prices on concert night higher than other weekends

Stayed overnight for a work trip to be closer to the airport. Booked through our 3rd party vendor so I didn’t know the area it was in. Not very appealing outside, next door to a very sketchy gas station and parking is not well lit. First thing I see when entering the front door, a man kicked back on the sofa in the lobby with no shoes on as if he was at home. Not the first thing you want to see when checking into a hotel. My room was decent but the bathroom is super small. Could’ve used some of the closet space and room square footage to allow for bigger bathroom. Last but definitely not least, the refrigerator was loud, ice maker cut on even after I put it on off, then I had to kill a roach in the kitchen area.. unfortunately, I didn’t get much sleep because of loud neighbors and loud people outside.. I won’t be utilizing this hotel again for any future work travel hotel stays. Could potentially be a decent place to stay but need to work with the city to make surrounding location more appealing and safe.

We stayed one night at Candlewood Suites Hartford after an event at the Xfinity Center. The staff were friendly, but check-in was painfully slow, I started wondering if they were handcrafting our keycards by candlelight. The bed was comfy, which almost made up for the holes in the wall, stains in the tub, and our unexpected morning guest… Godzilla himself, a cockroach of truly cinematic proportions. We also nearly had an altercation with the guy running the back parking lot for apparently looking in his direction too long. To be fair, it kind of met expectations for Hartford. We’re not asking for a refund. Based on other reviews, it seems that only happens in the event of a natural disaster (and even then, maybe not). If you don’t mind sharing your stay with some local minibeasts and a dash of chaos, this might be the perfect place for you.

Google
Nice hotel, location could be made more civil as there is zero curb appeal. The room had everything I needed and the bed was very comfortable. The refrigerator and the air conditioner were quite noisy. The hotel workers were helpful and friendly. Overall, beat my expectations.

I’m in town for my sisters funeral, so this is a hard time. Online we booked a 1 king bed studio suite: the website breaks down the rooms for those by bed size. We arrived and Aleah gave us a bed with 2 queens for my husband and I. She stated that even though our reservation is for a king bed it’s really for whatever they have. She was very rude and not helpful in the situation with helping to fix our reservation or getting our points adjusted

Google
The good: for the price per night this is a pretty decent hotel to use if you're traveling for business. The parking is free, the rooms are pretty big. There's plenty of space fort luggage and clothing. There are enough outlets for all the devices. The Wi-Fi was pretty good . The not so good: the surrounding area isn't the best and kind of desolate (empty parking lots, highway and an old gas station), the room features (countertops, drawers, bathroom features) are dated but fully functional. The lobby and first floor are laid out to deter non-guests from trying to use amenities (it's all locked down and signs posted) and not exactly "welcoming." This kind of fits given the surrounding area though. Overall, it's a decent place to come back to every night if you're in the area for business. I felt safe in the price per night was good.

Yelp
Wow... I think giving this place a 1 or 2 star review is kind of harsh and over blown. They put me and my family on the 4th floor, and there was no odd smell, as some people have complained about here. I was handled efficiently at check in, and while the gal wasn't overly friendly, she was just fine. The room was ok. Nice big fridge and freezer (with an ice maker). I liked the soap, though the toilet paper has got to be the thinnest I've ever encountered (and my butthole is a bit sore today, but maybe that's a coincidence). I would almost give this place 4 stars, simply because the air conditioner was awesome. Place was freezing cold, just the way I like it (my daughter complained about it... that's how good it was), and the pillows were great. The bed was plush, too... though the bed had sunk-in around where my stomach is, causing me some Reflux. I had to sleep with my head where my feet were supposed to be. There was some sticky stuff on the carpet near the TV. I'm praying it was just some spilled juice... and I know I had no business walking around bare foot in a hotel (my wife made sure to let me know!), but it got me a few times as I walked passed that spot. My daughter complained that the Muffin she got from the refreshments room downstairs was obviously expired, but I was grateful that they had snacks there. I told the gal about this at check out, and she said she would let management know, but didn't offer to remove it from our invoice... and I didn't argue. I don't really argue about things like that... I just get revenge in reviews! For the price, it wasn't bad. While I wouldn't rush back, I would consider staying there again. It's meant for extended stays, but we only stayed one night.

Yelp
Front desk and housekeeping general staff were amazing. Room was very clean. Bummer is that vandalism is a major issue. Our window was broken and 5 other vehicles had windows broken.

Yelp
OMG the area is so sketchy. There are literally drug deals going on in the parking lot, you can see the cars comings and going. I went out to walk my dog at 6:30pm and was tracked down by a homeless man who wanted something. I told home to stand back as I did not want him to get hurt by my dog. He kept following me, and I had to warn him a 2nd and 3rd time to stand back. Another man gave me the evil eye in the elevator. I saw the homeless man walking about the hotel. He may have been involved in the drug activity. There is not keylock on the back door so anyone can waljk in its very unsafe, I have been watching the activity in the back parking lot for the past hour, people walking in and out. The rooms are ok thought, but the area is not family friendly. They also put us in a room next to the elevator its so noisy, Worst Candlewood yet. Got my wife all up in her skin though she will never come back to this chain.

Yelp
I would give this hotel a 3.5 or 4.0. I was worried based on several negative reviews which I read before staying here, but at least in my case the experience was decent. The hotel staff was nice and helpful, the room was as expected, perhaps a little run down but nothing alarming and the bed was fine. The only negative is that it isn't in the best area, and there seemed to be quite a few people milling about in the parking lot that weren't staying there, but I was assured that there are cameras and that my car would be safe. There was also a small gathering in the room next to mine which I was initially concerned about but it did not end up bothering me. One other point to note is that I believe this is a pet friendly hotel as I noticed an extremely small patch of grass for a relief area. Certainly not adequate for a dog of any size for more than a quick stop. All in all I think this is a decent hotel at a decent price - very conveniently located with easy parking. I would use it again - but might upgrade to the hotels a little further in town for location purposes.

Yelp
Terrible. Reserved a king suite for my husband and I. Customer service was unprofessional and desk clerk cared more about letting her friends in and chatting with them than actually doing her job. She interrupted me to respond to their conversation. No manners, no friendliness. The room was dirty and unkept. Gashes in the wall hidden behind a lounging chair, disgusting headboard. I asked the woman for a refund and she just shrugged at me and said "I doubt you would get one" without any interest in pursing the conversation or attempting to make things right. Run away from this place. You can do way better for the money. An absolute waste of suite prices with motel 6 quality.

Yelp
This hotel wasn't run down but also not really nice, somewhere in the middle. The bed was comfortable and they had a nice selection of dishes and utensils in the kitchenette with a full fridge. I like that the bedroom door could be closed and separate if someone wanted to stay up while the others slept. It's right by a busy road. The night we were there, there was some kind of street racing get together or something in the area. Tons of race cars revving their cars late into the night for hours. The pools was not open. They have a small area that you can get a few food items. The area this hotel is in, has no restaurants around. A very small gas station next door. I'd suggest driving 5 or more miles down the freeway to get to a better area with more amenities. The hallways smelled like skunk, obviously from weed that also came under the door and stunk our room up. Mentioned it to the staff and they just smiled and shrugged their shoulders. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night to break up a road trip, and this hotel feels kinda sketchy. The location is right next to the highway which is convenient but the area feels a little unsafe. Additionally the hotel room did not seem especially clean, thankfully I brought disinfectant wipes to wipe down the remote (which had crusty gunk on it, gross). There was a weird stain on the duvet cover, and when I asked for another the new duvet had little red dots on it (ickkk!). The walls between rooms are very thin, we can very clearly hear the people in the room next door. The hotel is definitely not at full occupancy so I was annoyed that our assigned room was in between the elevator and another occupied room. The sound from the highway is loud, you can hear people talking in the hallways and door slamming. If I sound like a curmudgeon it's because I'm pissed I wasted points booking the room, but since I had my dog there weren't many options for hotels in the area. Lastly, guests were not wearing masks in the lobby and no one was enforcing the mask rule.

Yelp
Mattresses are awful. They have big gaps in them. We had two queen beds in room 304. Each was worse than the other. Besides that, it could be a good place someday. Quiet, close to Xfinity theater.

Yelp
We stayed at this location on May 14th to attend our niece's graduation. It was mediocre at best, but you get what you pay for. The trouble began when we returned and i asked the front desk clerk, Kijana for a local recommendation for breakfast. He answered by saying that Hartford was a dangerous area and that he wouldn't suggest breakfast. I said that people in Hartford MUST eat breakfast somewhere and all he could say was "Well I wouldn't". I said no 7-11, Dunkin, etc. He finally acquiesced and gave me directions (sort of ) to a local Dunkin. I was then told that due to COVID the pool was closed. There was no notification of this on the webpage. And COVID was so severe that there was no pool available, however staff was not required to wear masks, so..... I asked to speak to the Manager on Duty for the evening. There was none. I asked to speak with the owner. Apparently the owners are Mr. Ankim and Vishat Patel and they were both off until Monday. All my information was given. "Monday" was May 16th. Today is June 6th, no call. I called the parent company IHG and was given a case number. I was told there was nothing they could do as the properties are individually owned. I asked that this be bumped up to the next level. It was and at 3am, I received a call from that "next level" person explaining that he too, could do nothing, and apparently thought that 3am was an appropriate time to tell me that. The hotel is ok enough, but the staff was poor, or at least poorly trained, and IHG should be embarrassed by their customer (dis)service! They are, however, an excellent commercial for Hilton or Marriott.

Yelp
Well when we arrived at 1:30am with our 3 kids, after traveling 6 hours...we found that the room was 2 queen beds and a chair....NOT 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa as we were told when we called! The front desk person would not accommodate with a roll away bed (they don't have any available) or with a second room (except at our expense!), we were told he could leave a note for the GM who will be available at 8am... So where are we suppose to sleep? Awful service! We will stay at a Marriott next time!

Yelp
I stayed at this location on August 13, 2022 a Saturday and checked out Monday. This is not the worst stay I've ever had but very close to it. The front desk staff was nice. This Hotel is located in a convenient area very close to downtown Hartford. Actually walking distance. The floors were quiet and clean. The room appeared clean. Everything was fine until I went to bed. I started to itch. I've heard of the bedbug stories in hotel/motel rooms. I went online and checked how to detect bedbugs. I removed the sheets and didn't see any of the signs. I just thought it was the detergent they used to was the sheets. So the next day I was fine until it was bed time and the same thing. So I slept in a long sleeve shirt and pants with socks on. I also payed a towel down and I felt better. I checked out the next day and noticed that my arms, legs, and head was still itching slightly. I told a friend of mine and they said it could be mites or something like that. I reached out to the chain before sending this. No response.

Yelp
Everytime this specific hotel the rules always change I will probably never reserve or go there again. Between over charges on my card and then all the different rules

Yelp
Good hotel for the money. Walking distance from the Xfinity Theater which is a big plus. The rooms were a good size and clean. We were pleasantly surprised that they included a good sized fridge and small kitchenette with dishes. That came in very handy. Nice to have a pool to swim in before we had to leave in the morning; this area would be amazing if they added a hot tub.

Yelp
I have one good review and one bad. I will say the good one. They are very polite, I never did have a problem there. No bedbugs at all and believe me I do check. When housekeepers are around, I ask for towels and even if they are not assigned to clean my room they will smile and politely hand me clean towels and take my trash and dirty towels back. The room service with housekeepers is awesome, these girls are respectful. I have left jewelry inside the room and money inside jars and no one ever stole from me. No one even touched it, they clean around it which to me is an A+. They gained my trust. They can use newer sheets and get rid of the old sheets, because even when washed they are stained, that gives the hotel a bad appearance. They should create a small restaurant downstairs as with any other suite, My problem is, I work for Federal Law System. I will not uncover my position here, I will remain anonymous. I did, however, stay a few days, so I did enjoy the room service like I said I had jewelry, money and was never touched. I did, however, do leave a good tip many times and when I do ask the girls that are assigned to clean my room if they got the tip I left them?. They say no, that since they started working for the hotel, no one ever leaves them tips. I found that strange because I have seen the Indian people, a very tall & skinny girl who wears glasses and the lady at front desk going in and out rooms, one of them is stealing these tips from the housekeepers. I do not appreciate this and I will have undercovers watching their actions. We all know everyone tips the housekeepers at the hotels, is strange these girls have never seen a tip since they started working for them. They are the ones who are working hard to keep the business open and someone is doing this to them?. That is illegal!. My suggestion is: If you are going to tip them, wait till they knock on your door and make sure they are the one assign to clean your room and give them the tip personally. I will request at my job undercovers to watch what the hell is going on in this place. Tips are for housekeepers, not secretaries or managers or owners. If this continues I will stop coming to this place!. You are exploiding your housekeepers and also stealing from them?.

Lauren W.

Yelp
I stayed here in mid June, and booked and paid through Expedia. Hotel was fine, clean, etc. When I received my credit card bill last month, I was surprised to find that I had also been charged for the room by the hotel directly. I've now spoken with people they're 4 times. Including the manager, who told me 7 days ago that it had already been processed for a refund (a few days prior to that). Now a week later, still nothing. Called hotel again, of course got voicemail, and probably will need to call again tomorrow. Extremely frustrating and definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Yelp
This was a decent hotel for the money. Room was clean, linens were fresh, and there was no odd scents to the room. Spacious floor plan and a large desk. Heating and cooling worked well. Bathroom needs some updating, the shower has way too much caulk Hiding cracks and issues. Shower head had low pressure and had a cheap feel to it. The bathroom itself was small and the door barely cleared the toilet, room for one small person. No free breakfast like most hotels in the area, and the parking lot is terribly small. I could barely squeeze my truck between the lines. Good hotel for a quick business trip or if you're in need of a place to crash to avoid a DUI.

Yelp
So, I recently stayed at this hotel. And, in reality I think it's better than 3 stars - but not at 4 stars. The hotel is conveniently located. The parking area is accommodating and included in your room price. The hotel is newer and clear with no visible maintenance needs. The rooms are large suits with a kitchen with fill size refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, dishes and utensils. There is a living room, decent sized bathroom, and a bedroom. So far - this is all 4 stars. However, there is no restaurant, bar, or even a common area for a compliment breakfast. You are on your own for food - but the suit rooms allows you the opportunity to have your own food in your room. There is a "pantry" in the lobby where they sell a good array of food, beverage, and snack products though. In our room, the shower curtain did not reach the top of the tub - which resulted in water on the floor. We thought that this was strange. Also, there was no shampoo in our bathroom - so I went to the front desk and asked if that was normal. She indicated that you need to request shampoo - and she handed me two bottles of shampoo. This too we thought was weird. The girl at the front fest was friendly enough - but she mumbled and demonstrated no sense of urgency with regard to anything. In fact, it took me a few moments to even determine if she was speaking English to me. These factors were 3 star factors to me. Others really wanting the suit kitchen benefits would give this hotel 4 stars. I would definitely return to this hotel if I was in the area again.

Yelp
NEVER STAY HERE!!! I booked a room here for my nieces birthday where she had a 6 person sleepover and they called several times to say we were over capacity in the room. It was literally 4 girls and 2 adult chaperones. They threatened to call the police on children if two ppl didn't leave. The room was not clean and had a bad smell like mildew. The pool area was filthy and loud. We literally told the children not to make any noise which completely made for a horrible sleepover and we still got threatened with police. This was a horrible experience and would advise you to look elsewhere. Bad customer service, rude front desk associates, owners that sit at home and watch you on cameras to see how many ppl are in the rooms......front desk Disclosed this information. Stay away!

Yelp
Decent hotel, but it's in an area of town that two locals would not venture into at night. The room was large and clean. The kitchenette included a full-size refrigerator (make sure to turn the ice-maker off at night as it can get loud). Okay, so I'd give them a three or four-star rating at this point. I initially booked a five-night stay. My corporate credit card was charged for all five nights on the day of my arrival. Our meetings concluded early and I was able to leave after four nights. I should have received a refund of $320, but instead my card was charged for an additional $320. No big deal as stuff happens. Thirty days later and I'm still trying to get my refund. I have been told three times that they would process my refund and still nothing. Read Lauren W's comment also as she experienced the same. I don't know if it's a lack of training or a lack of caring, but it's not worth the hassle. STAY AWAY!!

Yelp
This place has turned my 5 year old daughters birthday into misery!!! After booking online a week earlier I went in to check in and get my key to the room. However, I was told I can't have visitors or "party like things going on". I told the lady that it's my daughters birthday and it should've been clear online or else I would've picked somewhere else's. She told me that if I kept it down it should be no problem!! I literally had 8 kids all under 10 and 2 adults in the pool area with me. (Kinda hard to keep kids quiet while having fun swimming) They were in the pool 45 minutes before I was told it's too much noise. So we went up to the room and I noticed a lady watching us. Soon as I walked into the room the hotel phone rings. It's the front desk telling me that the manager followed me upstairs and noticed it's too many people in my room so some people have to leave! WHAT!!!! So I got all the kids ready to go and we left. We did not return until about 10pm.. (only 4 of us returned) before checking out I noticed my card was charged an extra $150. I asked the lady at the front if she can explain to me why. She said the manager signed off that I had too many guest. When I asked to speak with a manager she said she's busy. I left my contact info but never got a call back!!! This place should be more kid friendly!!!!! I won't ever bring my family back here!!

Yelp
We recently stayed at this hotel as a group for a volleyball tournement. We had a block of rooms reserved and traveled 4 hours to get to this horrible destination. Check in seemed like any other. Nice front desk staff. However, once our group entered our individual rooms, we were VERY surprised at the poor housekeeping!! None of the rooms had been vacuumed, there were at least four rooms which had sheets that had hair and other unmentionable things on them. The kitchen drawers had sticky food all over them and there were strange items found in many areas of the room (in drawers, under bed etc..) We complained and after making our own beds, requested to meet with the GM. We did end up having the General Manager comp us on our rooms. Not only were the rooms this way, but the common areas as well. Beside these conditions, the entire hotel was very cold. Wouldn't matter if it were summer, but it was Winter!! I wouldnt send my worst enemy there!!!
