15 Best Resorts in USA for an Unforgettable Stay | Condé Nast Traveler

"The Montage’s signature restaurant whose dishes—like kanpachi and shrimp curry—are available for room service, and which can anchor an elevated in-suite chef’s-table experience with wine pairings and live music." - Jessica Sulima

Absolutely beautiful setting for breakfast. Our server was so knowledgeable about the menu and the island. The food was something special. The waffle showed how much time, care, and love were put into a simple dish. Lobster Benedict was superb. Can't wait to go back and will recommend to as many people as possible

My wife and I wanted to pop in last night after dinner and have dessert. We know that meant we wouldn't be a big money-maker for this place, we just wish the staff were a little less obvious that we weren't worth their time. Once we said we were there for dessert, no one was friendly. The hostess sent us to the bar and told us that all the empty tables we saw were reserved. The bar staff disinterestedly told us "Uh, I guess you can squeeze on the bench with that other couple if you want? They're friendly." Then sent us back to the hostess, who told us it would be an hour wait. We thought about going somewhere else, but decided to wait. We got back and the same tables that we saw empty when we first checked in were still empty (and stayed empty the whole time we were there). It was awhile before anyone came to even bring water. The dessert was delicious. We had the coconut cream tart and it was amazing. The space is well designed and feels wonderful. But the attitude of the staff put a real damper on the experience. Again, I get that we weren't a big money maker, I just wish the staff had been less obviously disinterested. I'm sure the food is amazing, but it will be hard for me to want to come back for a meal because of our experience last night.

Food was perfect! Starting with the sweet corn agnolotti with lobster, followed by fish of the moment (mahi mahi) and 48-hour wagyu short rib. We asked if we could order one glass of wine per course and split it for a paired tasting - “yes of course”! And it was our anniversary so they finished up with an amazing chocolate mousse cake with raspberry puree. Views were beautiful and romantic. Run don’t walk.

Great night! Our appetizers where so fresh and delicious, and main dishes where cooked to perfection. We recommend the Pineapple Upside down dessert. Pricey buy worth it.

Honestly, we were very surprised by how reasonable this restaurant was for breakfast. We tried to get into another local business but couldn't find parking. Cane and Canoe was right down the road and had plenty of room, complimentary valet parking, and a gorgeous view. It is tricky to find because it's inside the Montage Kapalua Bay resort on their lower level. You'll see signs for "reservations required" but that only applies to dinner service. We were seated right away without delay when we visited for breakfast and only a few tables were occupied when we arrived. It did slowly fill up though as we enjoyed our stay. The food was delicious. You won't be disappointed. Our server was nice enough but at one point all of the staff disappeared for quite a while and it was noticeable. It felt strange for a few moment but when they returned everything was back to normal. Overall a wonderful experience.

Everything we ordered tasted amazing. I really like the fusion components of all the dishes - innovative and delicious.

Google
Gorgeous resteraunt that has indoor and outdoor at the same time. Fantastic service. The scallop on marscapone corn puree was pure bliss. The sweet corn lobster agnoletti was delectable. The filet mignon might have been the best I've had. The crust was amazing and cooked perfect. 48 hour wagyu short rib was packed with flavor and tender. Cocktails on point and the nice birthday dessert was rich and decadent. Worth the trip. Going back for sure.

Google
View and setting was amazing. Service was spotty. Asked for water a few times before getting it. Food was good. Tempura snapper was incredible. I would not get the baked Hawaiian next time. Unlike baked Alaska, the different components of the dessert don't really go well together.

Yelp
My cousins and I treated ourself to Kapalua Restaurant week and what a delicious tasting it proved to be! We were warmly greeted with aloha by the staff and seated in comfortable chairs. My cousins ordered cocktails and our server was so kind to let them know if they weren't happy with it, they could exchange it which they did. The first course of delicious appetizers was the Caesar salad with anchovies and the Kahuku Sweet Corn Agnolotti with Keahole lobster! That was so buttery delicious and small enough to make you want more! The homemade taro rolls with butter, oil and honey was a nice accompaniment. Our second course was just right portion wise and savory. My cousin even said he was full, which never happens since he loves to eat! We enjoyed the 48-hour Wagyu Prime Rib which was so tender and easily cut with a butter knife. Yummy dollops of potato purée and broccolini were beautifully placed around the meat. My other cousin enjoyed his Shrimp Scampi with fresh house made tagliatelle, capers, Kula tomato and basil. The dessert course was a great way to end our meal. I got the Pineapple Upside Down cake with a scoop of Ube Ice Cream, biscotti crumble and Kula Rum Caramel. My cousin's panna cotta was made with local Maui Kuia Chocolate and chantilly cream with a tuile that had light sprinkle of black pepper. Overall, a wonderful experience and only $79 for the 3 courses! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
As guests staying at the Montage Kapalua, we were credited $200 to spend with the hotel due to it being under construction. So of course we ate at Cane & Canoe nearly every night of our stay. We also ate here for breakfast one day. For the price, I think it's very overrated. But here's what I think are good. - the bar menu has more casual food (burgers taste good, fries are good) and for staters, they give you gourmet popcorn - the dining room has yummy bread starters with honey, whipped butter, and olive oil From the dining room, I really liked their jidori chicken!! more than their steak. Their pineapple upside down cake was yummy and warm too. Their normal price seems really steep though and the views aren't that good. As for service, all of our servers were friendly and made small talk with us, and delivered every plate with a smile. Overall solid 4/5, 3.5 if I had to pay full price.

Yelp
We were super excited to try this restaurant at a sister hotel property. Ambiance is beautiful. Open air restaurant. Beautiful ocean views. Breathtaking sunset. Wine pairings were on point from our waiter who gapped to be the sommelier too! Food. Sadly we were disappointed. Apps: lobster bisque, Wagyu special, and a third we can't remember. Good but not spectacular. Entrees: scampi, seared ahi, Wagyu filet and fish special on smoked mash potatoes. All were good but took a long time to come out of the kitchen. Mash was cold, scampi had kind of congealed and the ahi was cool (which I didn't hate but unclear if that was intended temp). Filet was best in show. Service was slow overall with two large parties kind of jamming up the staff and kitchen. But only a few other tables to manage so ??? Overall a 'meh' rating

Yelp
Cane & Canoe at the Montage Kapalua is a must for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience with absolutely stunning views. The setting alone is worth the visit, but the food takes it to another level. We started with the freshly baked bread served with whipped butter, honey, and olive oil, warm, soft, and everything you could ever want in a piece of bread. From there, every dish impressed in its own way: * The seared Maine scallops were incredibly fresh and paired perfectly with a bright, citrusy sauce. * The charred octopus had great flavor, though I wish it had been sliced thinner to really enjoy that charred edge. * The Lei salad was a standout , the mango vinaigrette was so good I could've sipped it like a drink. * The Kahuku sweet corn agnolotti had beautiful pasta texture, but the filling leaned a bit too salty for my taste. * For entrées, the roasted prime filet was absolute perfection, while the tempura whole Tai snapper was delicious, but the plating lacked the elegance you'd expect at a five-star resort, a bit more refinement could take it to the next level. We ended on a high note with the pineapple upside-down cake, served warm easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Now, as for the service: we were seated right away and landed the best table in the house. However, there seemed to be some confusion around who our server was, which led to delays in taking our order and getting water refills. We had also noted in advance that it was a birthday celebration, but that unfortunately wasn't acknowledged, likely due to a communication gap between the host team and servers. I understand the resort is still finalizing some construction and operations, so hopefully with stronger internal coordination, the guest experience will fully match the level of food and ambiance they offer. With just a bit more polish, this place could easily be one of Maui's best.

Yelp
After being horribly treated by the hostess at the next door restaurant, we left our cocktails on the bar and walked here. We had no reservations but welcomed and given a front row seat. Had an amazing experience: service, ambiance, drinks, wine, food. As it should be. Hats off to Cane and Canoe!

Yelp
Cane & Canoe is a gorgeous fine dining experience in the Montage with a view of the ocean and fresh air. The restaurant is quiet and offers relaxing setting. The staff is wonderful and takes care of you the whole time. My favorite dish was the sweet corn agnolotti. You could taste the sweet corn and truffle which worked perfectly together while topped with tender warm crab, I could eat this dish everyday it was so good. The house made tagliatelle in the shrimp scampi was cooked exactly how I like it, a little al dente, and mixed with an amazing sauce. All of our dishes were amazing, I loved the creativity of the menu.

Yelp
Cane & Canoe offers a beautiful setting with excellent quality service and delicious food. Our server Richard who was previously of the Lahaina Grill made sure every item of our dining experience was smooth. Our lobster corn ravioli appetizer was rich and flavorful. Our fresh fish served with bok choy and smoking mashed potatoes was unique and delicious. Mahalo Cane & Canoe!

Yelp
Wow, such a fabulous experience. Service was impeccable, Paolo was so kind, took our photo, provided a purse hook, and provided a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. The food was delicious. It is beautiful with the view of the sunset over the water but isn't directly on the water. Loved the live music! Would highly recommend. Also for those saying it's really expensive. It was cheaper than Mamas and same as honu/mala cost wise so felt it was appropriate. Really above and beyond!

Yelp
New years at Dane and canoe. So miss the incredible buffets they used to do for the holidays.. Service started off slow and bad. Had to wait over fifteen minutes for any waiter to come to table. Then they forgot the tuna cone amuse bouche. Also took till after the appetizers to bring our drinks.. the food was ok but no where near worth the two hundred dollar charge for person. Drinks are 26 dollars each.. pricing themselves out for the quality. Snapper was tough. Best part was the pineapple truffles at the end z. Had high hopes for the new chef... too bad won't be rushing back anytime soon

Yelp
Had a dinner date with my husband on a Saturday night. Called earlier in the morning to make reservations, but it wasn't too busy when we got there at 5:45 pm. If you valet park, they will validate. We were coming from the spa and left our car parked above since the spa was closed. There's a pathway to walk down from the spa down to the restaurant. The host was welcoming, and immediately turning to the left you take in the breathtaking view. Last time I dined here, it was later in the evening; so I wasn't able to appreciate the sunset. Live music of a talented guitarist playing and singing throughout dinner in the background. Our server John was friendly, informative on the current menu, made suggestions, and was very attentive. We started with Maui onion soup and lobster mac and cheese. Dinner rolls came with 3 dipping options of honey, olive oil, and whipped butter with black sea salt and were served with a creamy kombucha coconut amuse bouche shooter. The soup had sourdough croutons and gruyere cheese. My husband found the soup flavorful but a little salty. My lobster mac and cheese was delicious. Creamy, cheesy, and generous chunks of lobster throughout. For our entrees we ordered, the Double R Ranch 10 oz ribeye with broccolini and mashed potato puree and the fish of the moment- opakapaka with broccolini, wild mushrooms, on a bed of smashed garlic potatoes in a creamy green curry sauce. The ribeye was marinated to perfection and cooked medium. The broccolini and potatoes were a nice accompaniment. The fish was flavorful, flaky, and lots of texture with the spices of the curry sauce, and the crunch from the veggies gave this dish a lot of dimension. We opted out of dessert, but creamy dark chocolate candies were brought over with our check. The food was delicious, service was on par, and live music was pleasant. I understand that this a resort restaurant and the clientele are primarily tourists, but that also made it feel a bit pretentious. Definitely opt for an early dinner to enjoy the view, since you're paying a premium for dinner. I appreciate the generous kama'aina discount, so hopefully this will attract more local people to give Cane and Canoe a chance. If you have a large enough party, you may want to request dining in one of the two cabanas for privacy. I wasn't aware of the ambiance last time around since we were in our own little bubble. Thank you for a delicious meal. Would be interested in coming back for brunch to see if it feels more relaxed.

Yelp
First I want to say that I had called the restaurant 2 days prior and asked if it was a pre fixed meal. The answer was not on Christmas but only Christmas Eve would there be a pre fix. I asked her 3 x to be sure. When I got there I was so disappointed to find out that that was incorrect it was a pre fix. Not wanting to go to another restaurant on Christmas night we stayed. Wrong move, should have left. The first course was ravioli it was cold sauced in some kind of oil and not cooked all the way. The main was fish that was small and very delicious or special the ribeye was very fatty hardly any real meat other than fat. The dessert was, just plain, not good or delicious at all. I spent a lot of money for food that was not good. The restaurant was beautiful. That's about it. One of the worst Christmas dinners we 4 had. They should have done better this was nothing more than a mass production of bad food.

Yelp
Spent a very enjoyable date night here a few weeks back. The service was excellent and the vibe was very cool. Live music was a plus. The server was very attentive as were the entire staff.

Yelp
The view and vibe are five stars! Great place to grab dinner and watch the sunset, so plan your reservation time accordingly. We made reservations on openTable. The restaurant is located in the Montage resort, which looks beautiful. Valet was complimentary, and the service was impeccable throughout. When we arrived they had live music. The amuse-bouche was a shot of ginger goodness. The bread service was sourdough and arrived with local honey, butter, and olive oil. The cocktail and wine list had good variety. The C&C G&T was yummy! I ordered the Makana Maui Aina (Curry), which included a beautiful presentation and was delish! A little rich in startches but otherwise good. Solid vegan options. The Baked Hawaii made non dairy seved as the perfect birthday cake for my Mom.
google avatar

Yelp
The lobster bisque and the sweet corn agnolotti was delicious! I got the whole fried fish, and it was amazing, but the green papaya salad was not quite what I expected. It was extremely fresh but not extremely flavorful like a traditional Thai papaya salad. For dessert, we had the baked Hawaiian, and it was tasty, but a few aspects were odd/unnecessary. The candied sweet potato was a miss, and the carrot cake was good but honestly overpowered by the other elements, so I think a nice vanilla or plain sponge would've made it a little more harmonious. Our server was amazing! So engaging and great service too. Although we had a late reservation, we could tell the restaurant would have amazing views during the day time, and it was a very enjoyable experience overall.

Yelp
We had a special family dinner here. We were a group of 9. Our service was horrible! Our waiter was too busy chatting it up with what I assume are vip's of the Montage? He basically ignored our table. The restaurant was not busy. The Hostess and others ended up filing in. For such an expensive restaurant I would expect way better service. Most of our group enjoyed their meals. The vegetarian option of tofu curry was not good. Overall, food was good, service was awful, atmosphere is beautiful. Unfortunately we won't be returning.
google avatar

Odulami B.

Yelp
Heard about this venue from a friend that stayed at the Montage (a must visit for another trip) and had nothing but great things to say. In an area that should have great dining opportunities, this is one of the few that actually delivers. The layout, view and entrance are second to none on the island; you will quickly realize that it's a full experience curated by a patron genetic culture. I would suggest a reservation but it may not be necessary depending on the day of the week. The food is amazing. I typically take time to snap photos but did not have a single disappointing but. The filet was perfect and accompanied by memorable veggie options. We sampled the asparagus, Buffalo cauliflower and lobster mac... All hits. This is the only bar on any trip to Maui that can produce a great Old Fashion. Can't wait to work my way through the menu on a subsequent trip.

Yelp
The breakfast was awesome like nothing else. There service was sensational. The scenery was also awesome. They had great views! I recommend this place!!!!

Rebecca M.

Yelp
The service here is awful. I took guests to dinner, and it was embarrassing. I live locally and the options are limited after the Lahaina fire, but don't waste your money. Service is slow and inattentive. I told them when I made the reservation that I am severely allergic to cilantro I also told the waiter upon his greeting, and the octopus came out with cilantro, i had to ask for a wine list, I had to ask for share plates for our starters, and chopsticks as the food runner only brought 1 set, we had to ask for bread service, I was given a dirty steak knife, then at the end the waiter said "you don't want dessert do you?" I guess he wanted to go home. And I know people who know the waiter, you can only imagine what the tourists get for service. Food was good.
google avatar

Luigi B.

Yelp
(Ryan Reynolds voiceover) The vibe is signature restaurant w/ the best view of the ocean! Jaime warmly greeted us! Told her we were on island time and had to forgo our 7AM appt as we strolled in at 9.... So warm & accomodating Matt served us Amuse bouche. Banana muffin avec trois Le Must jams (Produit de France). Délicieux! Roger the sous chef even came out at our request as the ladies absolutely loved the food! Lobster Benedict Signature dish. Perfect! 70% crab claw. Wow! The custom Tofu Scramble. Off menu style with 2 poached eggs! Splendiferous! Crab Omelette! Fantastic! Especially with a dash of Tobasco! Fried rice! Wow! The Fresh Fruit Smoothie was divine! The Kona Coffee and Hawaiian only blend was great with no acidity! And we finished off with fresh juice of one whole Pineapple! Matt also went above and beyond and offered to be our photographer. Way above and beyond! WOW! Signature dishes at the Signature table w/ some of my fave folks on planet Earth! Would order everything again! Woohoo!

Thanh L.

Yelp
It was the first time I've been there and was looking for something what looked different and tasty. I made reservations here and gad a great time. The dinner experience is exactly the type I like while I'm in Hawaii. Each dish was well prepared, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, and the staff was on point. I would recommend every dish in the photos attached. For this trip, tbh, I enjoyed it even more than my meal at Mamas Fish House . (Blasphemy, I know.). Plus, it was way easier to book than Mama's was.
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Hostess who seated us was clearly annoyed that we didn't want a table she offered. We didn't want due to kids next to it and also preferred a sunset view. She conceded reluctantly. Server Tom and helper Jake were A+. Our main course came 40 minutes after our starter which was 90 minutes after we arrived. We almost left out of frustration. Food was good, but kitchen delay impacted experience. Btw restaurant was less than 50% full and waiter was very apologetic.

Bob S.

Yelp
I live on Maui so I honestly take the view of the ocean for granted. This was our first time dining here, and the staff were welcoming and the food was fabulous. I think I've found a new favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Food and Service. Sunset views are amazing. Boneless short rib best on Maui. Reasonable value for excellent food. Will go back again

Yelp
The food here, as well as great service and mind blowingly beautiful ambience make this place a great choice for eating. Delicious and high quality food.

Yelp
The food was amazing and nice size portions. staff couldn't have been nicer. I will warn people to look at pricing before going. It is not a cheep place.

Paul H.

Yelp
Attention anyone who suffers from Celiac Disease, be forewarned that the menu is inaccurate! I ordered a fish which was marked on the menu as "GF". Our waiter, when asked about how the prep and cooking was done, reinforced that, yes, it is a Gluten Free process. While the fish was coated in rice flour, the fish turned out to be cooked in a fryer with non-GF items. Unfortunately, this took a negative toll on my system and I lost out on at least 36 hours of time in Hawaii. Very disappointing!!

Lokalia F.

Yelp
Last night was our first time dining at Cane & Canoe. Considering it was just two of us, we tried a lot off the menu. Every single thing was delicious, especially all the starters. Our favorites were definitely the hamachi with the mango sauce, and the Spanish octopus with the squid ink gnocchi and Portuguese sausage. We even ordered a second of the . The service was just as amazing. Tai was our hostess and John was our server. Patricia also checked on us periodically. They were all so friendly and attentive. John had great recommendations. I'm familiar with the resort but my fiancé who isn't, kept marveling at the ambiance and the incredible high ceiling that mimics a canoe house. The restaurant was newly furnished and I must say, the new chairs were very comfortable. We definitely plan to come back to eat here.

Yelp
One of the best meals Ive had since moving to Hawaii 4 years ago. Service was spectacular, and the food was amazing. Vai is one of the best servers I have ever had, if not the best, and should be cherished by Montage because he is an absolute professional. Jake and Chad were also great and always came by to make sure me and my wife were enjoying our time and being taken care of. I was blown away by the service this team provides. It was 1000% genuine and this property should be proud of the experience their team is providing to guests. The Chef has done a really great job with the menu. The Lobster poutine is hands down the best lobster dish I have ever had, and the octopus was cooked perfectly. Compressed lamb and ragout were also a favorite. To be honest everything was delicious and we devoured everything. Cheers to your team Cane and Canoe. Great job and thank you.

Yelp
I will admit I was a little apprehensive about dinner here since the menu is so small, but it was an excellent meal. Great seats - you could hear the waves and I loved the lit torches. We had the yummy bread, crab toast and split the crsesr salad (with actual anchovies!) For our app. There was so much crab on the toast. Loved the different topping options for the bread and ceasae was tasty! Then, we both had the filet and got the lobster Mac to come with our steaks. The steaks were tender and perfectly cooked. The lobster Mac n cheese was soooo creamy with what felt like an equal portion of pasta and lobster. My only wish was it was a larger portion. I'd recommend.

Yelp
Worth the drive from Wailea. Food was fantastic. Mellow, upscale atmosphere Best meal we had on vacation !

Yelp
Hubbs and I went for a date night and what a perfect evening! The valet got a kick out of parking our pimped out golf cart, and since we arrived a tad early we went to the Hideaway bar for a quick cocktail before dinner. The bar staff were amusing to talk to and custom made a mocktail for Hubbs which was delicious. My cold Chablis was exactly what I was craving and we loved the salted olives and popcorn snacks too. Once in the restaurant we were greeted and seated, right at the front of the restaurant with a beautiful sea view, bliss! We had an early seating at 6.15pm and the shades were still down to stop the searing pre sunset glare, but once the sun set the shades were drawn up and the canopy ceiling retracted and we could watch the sunset and the stars appear. 5* service was excellent, 10/10, and the staff were all friendly and helpful and our server knowledgeable with questions regarding the menu, etc. The young man who kept our water glasses filled was unintrusive but somehow we had a full glass all night, and the ladies at the entrance desk asked if we enjoyed our date night and had a laugh with us as we were leaving. So onto the big attraction, food! We ordered: Maui onion soup - comes in it's own metal serving dish so it stays piping hot, nice stock, lots of onion and plenty of cheese on top. Lobster Mac n Cheese - small dish but deceptively filling, with nice chunks of lobster and a dreamy creamy sauce. The pasta is little orchietta 'hats' not macaroni so purists may be thrown, but put any pasta in cheesy sauce and I'm sold! Delicious dish. Pork chop - a huge hunk of piggy on a big wide plate, which is also deceptive, as it is a large amount of food. The pork was cooked to perfection and the red cabbage and spaetzle was very tasty too. Hubby was in porcine heaven ;) Brussel sprouts - deeeelicious, with raisins which are obviously steeped in a tasty stock and are plump and flavourful, and the sriracha heat which is a match made in heaven with brussels. Buffalo Cauliflower - cauliflower is so expensive on island it was a big treat! It was cooked perfectly with a bit of bite, the blue cheese dressing was Ahma-zing and the buffalo sauce definitely gives it a kick! Baked Hawaii - An amazing dessert you have to try, artistically plated, melt in the mouth sweetness and light, with a tangy sauce and a lot of textures and flavours to enjoy. Hubby was in dessert heaven, especially the ice cream inside. Chocolates - odd they gave us 3 between us, and I did consider arm wrestling Hubbs for the last one but I was too full and content with my amazing meal so I let him have it........this time. We had a sublime culinary treat, a perfect date night and it was so relaxing we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. One of the best date nights we have had on island. Many thanks to the chefs, servers and valets for their hard work in making our night perfect. The cherry on top of the culinary cake was we also got a locals discount with our HI drivers license which made it a little less of a hit on the wallet. PS...We did see a cute black cat in the garden area, but all restaurants on Maui have cats passing through as we have a large wild population on island. I have seen them in EVERY restaurant we have visited so people below commenting on them in this particular restaurant are unfair.

Jeanette F.

Yelp
Great ambience and incredible view. Service was great but not outstanding. The starter Kahuku corn agnolotti lobster signature dish was the best and should not be missed!!! We were not impressed with the short rib or pineapple cake dessert.
google avatar

Dustin W.

Yelp
Very polite and friendly staff. The ambience is amazing and is shaped just as it sounds as if you're riding a canoe. You can get to watch the sunset if you come at the right time as well. The food though, was great but not mind blowing. The mac & cheese was amazing. Pina colada was very tasty - not the best one I've had but still fantastic. You pay for the ambience and the view. Food is decent but pricey. Still worth coming to. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5
google avatar

Bret E.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I'll start with the good parts. The setting is incredible. The grounds of the resort and the view from the restaurant are fantastic. The ambiance is quiet and romantic. The drinks were great. The appetizers were alright. The pineapple upside down cake was alright. And now the bad parts. The price of the food sets a high bar. Unfortunately the chef can't meet the lofty expectations. The food was simply bland. It's a bad sign when a dish isn't properly salted. That's a death sentence for a restaurant charging $90 for a two course prix fix menu. I had the fish of the moment and a homemade pasta dish. The one dish with flavor was a complementary pickled vegetable jar. Unfortunately it was far too acidic to be enjoyable. The meal in total was around $300 for two people. Not worth it on an island that is already fairly expensive.
google avatar

Sam F.

Yelp
View was stunning! Whales were breaching in the water. I gave it a 3 (could be a 3.5) because everything was very salty. Portion is very little but I guess you can't expect much from fine dining.
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
The R&R steak I ordered last night is possibly the best steak I've ever eaten in my life. Wow.

Kris F.

Yelp
Most overpriced restaurant in Hawaii for the food you get. (And we have been to all the best restaurants on the islands.) Had the short rib for $67 and it was a chunk of 90% fat with three 1" diameter "puffs" of whipped potato (3 bites) and three tiny stalks of broccolini (3 bites). My husband I shared the $17 coconut tart which was 3 bites each. What a horrible disappointment.

Yelp
Beautiful views, attentive staff, and delicious food! The kamachi with mango sauce was incredible! We love montage resorts and this one didn't disappoint! We did dinner and came back for brunch it was so good! Check it out!

Yelp
Even though this place certainly broke the bank, it was absolutely delicious. The service was fabulous and the view incredible. We tried an array of things Maui onion soup (decent but can't say it was the best I've had), the lobster Mac (really good and nice chunks of lobster in it), Brussel sprouts (delicious), pork chop (pretty decent), the fish of the moment special which was tempura yellow fin (delicious), but the really star here was the cooked to perfection RIBEYE and this is the dish I would certainly recommend to steak lovers! Really good but come with a big wallet.

Yelp
Excellent service and great food with a fantastic view of the sunset. I can't believe all the bad reviews-this was one of the best meals of our vacation!

Yelp
While the food was excellent, the service was extremely slow, the music was too loud and inappropriate for the venue, the seats were uncomfortable and the restaurant was very hard to find.

Yelp
Amazing views here! This was a surprise dinner for my hubby's birthday and he was completely blown away!! The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was more than we could've asked for during our first trip to Hawaii. Gorgeous sunset views!!

Yelp
Nice restaurant. Some of the food was great but some of it was just good. The environment is lovely. The resort, the view and the overall property is incredibly. Serene and peaceful. Good wine selection. Here are something weird- you pay extra for bread service, but they didn't even bring enough pieces of bread for our whole party of 8. We had to split up pieces of bread- which is really strange for a nice meal. The prices are high, so you expect an elevated menu. There were some things that were good- the lobster mac and cheese, the salads and were lovely. My husband's ribeye with au poivre sauce was fantastic! The filet steak was great. But some of the other items were just good, but not great. The fish of the moment was not seasoned well (and no salt at the table) and there was no sauce that came with it to jazz it up. The shrimp and fish entree was good- but the shrimp were not great. What saved this dish was the green curry sauce that came on the side. Members of my party were so disappointed in their food that they would not even look at the dessert menu. It was $90 for a small first course and the entree.

Yelp
Food: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars Drinks: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Value: 4.5 I booked a spur of the moment reservation while in the area and was pleasantly surprised. The prices were quite reasonable, and we loved the beet & burrata salad. We will definitely be back - although it looks like the menus change frequently.

Yelp
View from the table was beautiful. Food was mediocre. Had a 2 egg and sides platter, greens smoothie and ordered malasadas. Malasadas never came, server forgot to put the order in. Birds and stray cats everywhere.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!! I love this spot in Kapalua. The view is just incredible. We had an 8oz steak, and lobster Mac and cheese. The food we ordered was incredible, but I think the best part might have been all of the surprises. The bread before dinner is melt in your mouth delicious. Then they give you a little amuse bouche! After dinner, they brought my husband a super yummy chocolate birthday dessert, and 3 macarons with the check! Such a lovely experience!!!
