Cane Bay Campground

Cane Bay Campgrounds is one of the best ways to experience St Croix. It has a great mix between nature, beautiful beaches, fantastic diving and affordable diving certifications (when I visited as low as $300 which is more affordable than Bali at $400), good music consistently almost every night of the week all year round and a bit of island seclusion on the north shore. Travis the Cane Bay camp manager is an incredible host and really helped me feel totally welcome. Overall it has been a brilliant experience even traveling solo!

One of the things we appreciated most about Cane Bay Campground was the very friendly yet professional hosts, Colleen and Ryan. The area itself was also interesting because of its lively American expat millieu centered around the cozy bar Off the wall - and the beautiful nature. Camplife was pretty convenient and easy even for beginners. Bathrooms and cabins were neat and tidy and if anything was out of order it was quickly fixed.

Hosts/Managers are awesome, campground is exactly as described, and the location is wonderful. Bonus: Friendly dogs!||||This is a great place to unwind and just enjoy nature. You can expect to hear birds chirping as opposed to cars honking outside your window as you're surrounded by the woods. Each cabin has enough distance from each other to offer privacy and the bathrooms are a short walk away (cabin one being the closest). The beach is also walking distance from the campgrounds and is refreshingly not overcrowded. There are many places to eat nearby but if you decide to cook your own food, you've got a firepit, a grill, and a small camp stove available to you. Ryan and Colleen (mgrs/hosts) are awesome--very friendly and accommodating! They were super busy with construction during the time of our stay but made us feel welcome nonetheless and always made time for us. ||||I loved falling asleep to the sounds of the forest at night and seeing random animals during the day (it's not everyday you see peacocks walking around on your way to the bathroom). Also, relaxing on a hammock by your cabin is always a good thing in my book. I would definitely come back here again!!

Looking around for places to stay for our recent trip to St. Croix, I was originally looking at resorts, as I am not typically much of a camper. However, I came across Cane Bay Campground and in reading the reviews that talked about proximity to the beach and sleeping with the sounds of nature all around I decided to try it out since it really matched the kind of vacation we were looking for. It was a great choice. We loved being at Cane Bay as far as location, with several restaurants right in the area (we did not love driving after dark in St. Croix) and the cabins were great and we really loved listening to all of the critters at night. ||||I will say there was a rooster who drove us pretty crazy starting around 3am the first morning, but we borrowed an extra fan battery to make sure we could put the fan on high when he started up the second night and it was much better. ||||As others have mentioned the hosts are great and very helpful. All in all a really great stay!

This place is perfect! The cabins have no power but Travis (the host) goes above and beyond making sure you have multiple (battery powered) light sources, fans, a propane camp stove, an outdoor BBQ, potable water, and an actual bed complete with a mosquito net. There are also personal lockers with outlets for charging all of your stuff, real toilets and showers, and a washer/dryer. Travis is a great guy who goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. You are in easy walking distance (~200 yards) to one of the best swimming, sunning, and snorkeling beaches on island, 2 great restaurants (The Landing and Off The Wall), and there is also a dive shop on the property that offers dives for everyone from absolute beginners to instructors level divers. Don't forget to catch the breakfast truck on the beach most mornings for some great food and mimosas to start your day off right! Seriously, it does not get better than this!

We have stayed there twice in 2 different rustic cablins. Both stays were great. Beautiful surroundings, very close to the beach and bar and restruant. The peacocks were a little loud in the morning and the first time you see a tree frog on the wall above your head - it is a little startling. If being close to nature is a priority for you, this is the place.

If you like to be more outdoors than a hotel room, this place is perfect. My wife and I spent 15 days here in May and would have been happy to spend 15 more. It is right on Cane Bay, and there are three bars/restaurants and a dive shop within walking distance of the site. The cabins have everything you need, including lanterns and solar charge lights. There is a propane range in each cabin as well as basic cookware and silverware. Clean water jugs with spigots are also provided. There is a cooler for each cabin, and you can get bagged ice from the restaurant at the Landing, which is located next to the campground entrance. The cabins are screened to keep the bugs at bay. Our cabin also had a bug net over the bed, though I'm not sure if all of them do. I spent more time in the hammock outside than in the cabin. There are little lizards that get into the cabin called anoles, but they tend to stay far away and just hang out in the rafters catching the stray bug that gets inside. It wasn't an issue for us, but just a note for those not accustomed to being in the bush in STX. Lizards are literally on every rock and tree. Travis, our host, was absolutely amazing and accomodating in every way. He is one of the friendliest, most laid back people you will ever meet. He is also very knowledgable about the local flora and fauna. He is one of the guides with Bush Tribe for the bioluminescent bay kayak tours. I will be back very soon. I plan on staying here on my next trip down. Bring your natural bug repellant and your reef safe sunscreen and definitely give this place a shot if you like nature and want something that isn't your typical hotel/airbnb.

Favorite place to stay on island! Campsites have everything you need, picnic tables, karosene stove, grills, fire pit, hammock, comfy beds with netting there was even bug spray and lights for at night. Beautiful hiking and right off the most pristine beach that has the best snorkel/diving also there is a tasty restaurant bar right there and there were food trucks around. Can't wait to stay again!
