Head to the back of the market where you will find aisles and aisles of local vendors selling unique produce and a variety of spices and herbs promising to cure anything from a hangover to your sex life. Not the same experience as before the rebuild. Way higher prices and not as much variety as before . Seems like a boutique gimmick now.

Yelp
A friend and I visited the Houston Farmers Market for the first time last weekend. I wasn't thinking it would be very "cute" at first but it ended up being such a fun place to visit. The market is both indoor and outdoor and has so many unusual finds. As it's fall, they also had a little pumpkin patch which can be used for a photo opportunity. The market had a lot of authentic items and spices and I loved getting to try new things that I've never seen before. Additionally, they had vendors that you could enjoy on site ... for example a coconut vendor. We bought a coconut that they chopped open and added a straw to so that we could drink the coconut water as we explored. Would love to visit again for the next season to see what cool finds there are!

Yelp
I wish leaving no star was an option. For those of you that frequent this Farmers Market, pls avoid the vendor PEREYDA PRODUCE. On Oct 12, I patronized this Farmer's Market for the first time & purchased produce from PEREYDA PRODUCE. I didn't have cash (bad choice) & only my debit card. After my order was complete, I handed the petite Mexican guy my card & he went into the back to assume "charge it". However, he took almost 1 minute to return with my card. Once he returned, I inquired "what was the hold up" & he just looked at me. I scanned the receipt to ensure he charged the correct amount since it took him a min to return with my card. Fast forward to Sunday Oct 13, Chase my banking institution texted me & said they declined a $785 JetBlue Airline charge & asked if this was me! Then I went to my checking account & saw an additional charge that actually went through in the amount of $618.35 for Avis car rental service. Immediately, I called Chase. Informed the Fraud Dept. No I did not authorize the $785 to JetBlue nor the Avis amount. While I was on the phone with the Claims Rep, two additional erroneous charges were applied & pending in my account of $222.98 to again Avis. Needless to say, Chase closed my debit card , credited me back those fraudulent charges & issued me a new debit card. I completed a police report & also emailed the so called Farmers Market to inform them of the fraudulent activity performed by one of their vendors, but they never responded.. Plus, the next Saturday 10/19, I went back to that Farmers Market to confront that migrant, & lo & behold, the entire setup was changed plus that little guy wasn't there. The setup consisted of teas only & not produce.. As in the setup I saw when I visited on 10/12. They did a whole switch up & placed different people to attend to their storefront. I've never had that happen to me & I hope if you attend, only use CASH! As they will attempt to steal your information & think they're going on a vacay at your expense!

Yelp
You can immediately smell all the fruit, spices, and general commerce wandering through the labyrinth that is the Houston Farmer's Market. It's a behemoth of local produce and Mexican/Texan flavors that makes the largest farmer's market in my home city of New York look like a kid's lemonade stand. It spans 18 acres and multiple floors and over 100 merchants. I nearly got lost among the aisles. I felt like a spice trader looking at all the containers filled with different colored powders. If you want to make any Mexican dish, these stands will have you covered. I loved scooping up a fresh coconut which they cut open for you and stick a straw into. Visiting this market was a cultural experience and education for me. I even came away for a new appreciation for chili lime salt, which I'm used to on mango but they even serve to you over dragonfruit here.

Yelp
Pretty decent Farmer's Market that seems to cater to the Latino community but has something for everybody. It smells like fresh produce and spices and very clean. I was there with friends and didn't have my car with me but I need to come back again on my own.

Keila B.

Yelp
Great selection of fruits, spices and herbs, and produce! Good time to come out with family, they also had a selection of goods from local vendors outside the market. Parking is a bit tricky so get here early. Service can be slow if it's busy, but other than that you can find good prices for Mexican produce, cooking and spices.

Vik P.

Yelp
Can't fault the whole market and can't remember which place in the market i got the tea from, but I placed the tea in a glass jar and bugs formed in it, ugh gross, ironically its gut tea and I don't think my gut needs bugs unless that is the secret ingredient to clearing out your gut.

Yelp
How have I not heard of, or been to this place??? Living in North Carolina and having great farmers markets everywhere all the time had me spoiled, and I never thought I would find anything comparable here in Houston. That was until today. I am in heaven, sure it's a drive for me from Tomball, but so totally worth the drive. Covered and full of stalls with all kinds of delicious produce, how can I not be impressed? Rows and rows of stalls full of fruits and vegetables, some that I don't recognize even at my age. Wares and goods and samples of sweet delicious fruits ( the pineapple, are you kidding me on the sweetness?) herbs and spices, I could live here... Food places, clean covered bathrooms, I mean they really stepped up at this market.

Stacey G.

Yelp
Great space and really fresh fruits and veg. Takes a bit of time to get your favorites and find the best deals. Many places are cash only. But there is an atm there.

Jeremy C.

Yelp
I love when I get the opportunity to support local merchants. Their creativity and willingness to answer any questions you might have is always welcome. On a side note who doesn't love fresh fruit which they have an abundance of as well

Erika V.

Yelp
I absolutely love going to the Houston Farmers Market. I load up on veggies, fruits and treats and it's a fraction of what I'd pay at a grocery store. Everything is always so fresh and all the both owners are so kind. Not only do they have the fresh fruit and veggie stands but you can also get any herb or spice you're looking for. There is also a cute area with vintage clothing and fun knickers knack. Outside is a variety of vendors from food to jewelry. So much diversity. Oh and let's not forget the yummy on site restaurants! Definitely recommend you check this out!

Yelp
I havent been here in years and the revamp looks amazing. There are still lots of vendors including a few restaurants to dine in. The parking is much better. I was in and out getting what I needed. Lots of fruits, veggies, spices, loose leaf teas, seamoss, candles, sweet treats like candies, fruit in a cup, etc. They also have a stand that sells fruit juices and micheladas if thats your thing. Nuts, seeds and sweet breads as well. Bring cash because some of the vendors dont have card readers. There is also an atm on site. Dont stop and buy the first thing you see, the vendors can be a little pushy. Walk around the entire place at least once.

Yelp
Pretty nice Farmers Market What's really nice about this place is that it's open Monday-Friday from early morning until evening (7:30 pm) rain or shine. It's a decent expanse of space and can be overwhelming initially, many vendors with their produce set out with people moving back and forth around. 1. I'm not sure if this stuff is organic, conventional, local or not. Some of the produce had tags that showed conventional. From the looks of the produce it was mass produced and maybe different vendors were purchasing it and bringing it in to sell for a profit? It didn't give that farmers market feel you get when you're interacting with local farmers and there is some individuality to what they had to offer. Maybe there was some stuff they brought from their farms, but it's clear much of it was supplemented. 2. I suggest you go up and down and compare prices. Most vendors will not haggle on price but you may be able to find a cheaper, better looking option if you keep walking. 3. There are individual vendors on "The Lawn" selling honey, sea moss, baked goods - gives that conventional Farmers Market feel as well. Sometimes there is music playing and it can be a real treat. 4. There are a couple of restaurants on the premises, neither of which is very healthy... I believe on is an American food bar type restaurant Wild Oats and the other is a burger joint, Underbelly. If I'm not mistaken there may be another restaurant on the other side. Overall, it was a nice experience. If you're really into organic foods, it may not hit the spot for you. If you like trying or miss different international fruits and vegetables from the islands and South America then you need to be here... from dragonfruit to lychee and soursop... this is the biggest win for me.

Gregston C.

Yelp
Legit source for Mexican spices and ingredients. You can get alot of fresh fruits and vegetables. Also a great place to come and walk around when the weather is nice. It's covered but outdoors so it's less pleasent during the summer.

Michael W.

Yelp
I loved this place. Me and berry had a great time here. The renovations are still under way but there is plenty of vendors to choose from. Lots of Latin spices, pottery and fruit to choose from. I have been searching for a clay cooking pot and finally found it (still haven't used it yet) LOL. There are also plenty of food vendors to choose from and most accept cards! Whoo Hoo! I would have given 5 stars only if parking was not an issue. Being on a main road can be troublesome to find secure and safe parking.

Thomas S.

Yelp
I grew up in the neighborhood, and my parents used to take my brothers and I every other weekend to shop for fresh veggies and fruits at the market. Back then, the front portion of the market was run by a local large veggie and fruit market (Canino's) vendor. It was well organized and clean. But the fun show was at the back portion of the market. It was chaotic with Mom and Pop vendors shouting and competing for your business. The stalls were unorganized with familiar and unfamiliar spices, veggies, and fruits. Shoppers were shoulder to shoulder shoping. Bargaining was the rule at any back stall, part of the market charm. On the way out, we would get lunch from the Mexican food trucks in the back parking lot. Now, only memory survived. Those fun days were long gone with the gentrification of the market. The market I saw recently was well organized from front to back. No more cheap meals from food trucks. Pricey eateries replaced those trucks. The exotic offerings were still there, but I missed the chaos.

Yelp
I am definitely adding routine trips to the farmers market to my Saturday schedule. There is so much fresh produce and local finds to choose from. Most vendors are cash only, but there is an atm inside for you to pull out some dollars. Things are inexpensively priced, fresh, local, and so good. Outside towards the back they have local vendors that have more prepared foods/beverages, handmade goods, and many gift options. There are also a great choice of restaurants nearby to pop into. The space has ample parking, and the farmer's market quickly became one of my new favorite finds in Houston!

Kruti G.

Yelp
Love this spot. I come here on weekends to get my groceries. Fresh fruits and fresh vegetables! I love that they have an amazing pumpkin patch Photo Booth spot and you can also buy pumpkins! Everyone is friendly here. Bring cash !!! Credit cards aren't accepted. Clean restrooms!

Rose Y.

Yelp
PLEASE READ AND TAKE NOTE! I gave this review 5 stars for better visibility to warn you guys. Be careful who you trust here! It's really a hit or miss depending on whether or not they feel like ripping you off. Tried to buy guanabana/soursop for the first time from one of the fresh fruit sellers and asked the merchant which one was ready to eat. She thought real hard and handed me one that was starting to soften, and charged me $9 for a single fruit. "Ok, they have to make money somehow" I thought to myself... But I didn't realize there was zero morality involved in doing so. I think the image explains itself. If I didn't live 40 minutes away, I would've gone back and demanded an explanation. Be careful who you trust, these merchants are not your friends

Yelp
Wow! What an amazing place to shop for fruits, vegetables, spices, plants and more. Love the vibe of this huge farmer's market that has been open in Houston since 1942. Love going to see what seasonal fruits and vegetables are available. Thanks to Ronaldo for the sweetest samples of lychee fruits and mandarins. So delicious. Bring a bag or a basket to fill with carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, squash and more. Get a bag of cookies or some cute gummies. The fried egg gummies are so adorable. Get spices, teas or chilies. Buy plants for your garden. So many choices in the rows and rows of booths. Make sure to bring cash. Prices are not posted, so you just have to ask. Last visit I got cucumbers 2/$1, mandarins 2lbs for $5 and 8 limes for $1. Prices vary for what is seasonal. The produce is so fresh and delicious. Check out the market on Airline. Lots of parking available. Located across from El Bolillo Barney

Yelp
While this place has extensive vendors to select from it is unfortunately misleading as it is NOT a farmers market. All the produce we purchased was not home grown and came from an actual grocery vendor as they all had the stickers on them still that can be scanned at a grocery store and an employee of a vendor let me know while it used to be an actual farmers market the concept has changed and is not accurate since it's re gentrification. Prepare to bring cash since most vendors don't take card and prepare for your produce to rot within two days.

K K.

Yelp
Every STALL was similar to the next with minimal options, the prices were surprisingly HIGHER than expected. I understand people have to make a living but the consumer also has to make ends meet. I guess I was looking for Farmers Market fresh produce, fair prices, and a chance to browse. Every stall I went to had WILDLY different prices. It felt like I needed to know exactly what I was looking for and how many pounds. Ugh! This is not a casual Saturday afternoon spot.

Dominique N.

Yelp
This place is huge and has a lot of different options of types of items (from produce) to vendors for life items to prepared foods. This place has definitely gotten better since they made structure improvements. You could spend a whole day here with brick and mortar stores as well to pop into.

Keisha R.

Yelp
It was cool. Had many food, clothing, flowers, hygiene etc vendors on the outside and many fruit and vegetable and Mexican candy and other products booths on the inside. Vintage shops on the inside. Other stores and restaurants like UnderBelly burgers, etc too. The grounds are nice and offers a lot of variety. Go to the bakery across the street too after you visit.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
First time shopping at the Houston Farmers market and it was great! Couldn't resist the fresh fruit this morning and came home with sweet pineapple, papaya, and giant mangos. So much to explore and we'll be back with a grocery list)l! Giving it 4/5 due to prices not being posted consistently across the vendors (some had prices available but others required us to ask for cost per item at multiple booths).

Oliver C.

Yelp
Although still making additions this market is pretty cool and modern. Filled with different cultured vendors, small businesses and restaurants, you can definitely find what you're looking for. You could find things like fresh spices, raw honey, fruit, cookware, flowers, unique artwork and handmade jewelry. My favorite was the butcher shop with all the different fresh meats they offered! We went on a Saturday morning and there were small businesses setup in the court yard promoting and selling. Nice to get out and see for yourself!

Charlie W.

Yelp
A great farmers market that you can find fruit, vegetables, spices, baked goods, flowers, plants, gifts, pottery, and butcher shop. Lots to explore and see. Go early because summer heat can be brutal. Plenty of free parking.

Ramzi L.

Yelp
W It was not open. Wasted drive Not much else to say. Wasn't in a very nice area but the building was either boring finishes or refurbished W

Jazmin M.

Yelp
Been coming here since a kid and wow has it changed. To the better of course. I love seeing and smelling all the spices. Location: airline Staff: always friendly, helpful and fast Price: average Parking: lots

Juncel A.

Yelp
I visit the market once before. I'm glad they decided to fix the place up making it more attractive to visit. Other than the renovation and the new restaurants, the market itself is the same. You'll pretty much see the same items being sold at every stall. There's stalls that sell fruits and veggies, snacks, spices, cookware, and plants. We also tried to haggle on the prices, but since everyone is selling the same thing, everyone's selling it for the same price it seems - or maybe we just don't know how to haggle. Haha Also, it doesn't really feel like the produce are farmer to market per se. There might a few fruits and vegetables that you may not see at the grocery stores though. Overall, it's nice to visit this place every now and then. On sundays they have tents on the lawn with music - it makes the place very lively.

J. Antonio H.

Yelp
I have had this on the list since it reopened after renovations. The glaring omission is AC . I will allow today was an extremely not day triple digits while shade helps this is a sub tropical climate the Mercado ion SanAntonio is widely air conditioned. If this is to become a destination for shipping and a meal. This should be priority. There is ample parking a variety vendors who mainly only accept cash. The ATM only has a 3$ convince few. I won't be back until October.

Walter M.

Yelp
It is basic and small, probably a little out of the way. The fruits and vegetables looked good. The parking lot is good, and there are places to sit. Incidentally, located on the other side of the parking lot (to the right as you face the Market entrance) at 2426 Airline Drive, you will see a co-located store La Marketa De Houston and Reyes Produce which sells some garden sized Mexican pottery. I will post pictures on Yelp. About 15 miles to the west, just south of I-10, there is a large Mexican pottery outdoor lot called Imported Decor II with lots of Mexican pottery choices at good prices.

Shay J.

Yelp
My husband suggested we visit this open air market. I was highly impressed with all the fresh produce and spice options. I am told this is one of the oldest farmers markets in the city. Clearly the modern style and upkeep makes this place look new. This market is nice and clean, plenty of parking, tables to sit and get something to eat. I noticed most of the vendors have the same variety of produce. A few vendors sell unique household cookware, utensils, toys, beautiful handmade items and more. Just a heads up, brush up on your Spanish if you plan to shop here regularly. Of course i flunked Spanish in college, I need to start over with learning. Thankfully most of the vendors do speak English and are nice. As a new Houston Resident I look forward to coming back to this market again.

Karen 2.

Yelp
would recommend stopping by overall. there's some great produce. lack in variety/diversity of shops tho -- would be cool to have more prepared foods, drinks, crafts etc.

Mariah M.

Yelp
After visiting the cider brewery we were hungry and accidentally came across the farmers market. There were SO many options and vendors to choose from, as well as more vendors in the back green area. There was also a butchers market and a few great restaurants along the perimeter. You could smell the spices and food everywhere. The vendors were very nice and eager to help or answer any questions. We plan on coming back to shop very soon!

Samantha G.

Yelp
Never again. This place is a joke and I feel like these produce are purchased in bulk from a grocery store and re-sold. Not all the vendors, some feel legit but many don't. They sell moldy fruit and don't care. I pointed out time and time again about their strawberries being moldy and they just re-displayed them. I thought I had a good one but got home and it was moldy too. Also, they're in a plastic container that you find at a grocery store. (One being from Whole Foods) I was hoping this was a farmers market not a flea market. Service is okay, many speak foreign languages and can understand basic English. The environment is definitely crowded.

Brenda H.

Yelp
I had a great time with my family at the Farmers Market. Definitely going back. Parking was easy.

Maria E.

Yelp
+Open daily. +Huge parking area. +Lots of produce. +A variety of herbs and spices. +Reasonable prices. +Friendly vendors. -A bit repetitive. Most vendors sold the same exact produce. -Cash only (at least it seemed that most vendors were). Overall, this is a great option to score some fruits/veggies from local Hispanic farmers. They likely won't be the same quality you'd find at a typical farmer's market (i.e. no fancy organic beefsteak tomatoes and such). However, they'll be grocery store quality at a very reasonable price.

Yakema K.

Yelp
You can find just about any and every herb, vitamin, healthy items there are...ngl there's a lot to take in and you will need to do your research regarding all of the different herbs and their benefits...I will definitely keep going back

Alyssa P.

Yelp
New! Clean! Lots of vendors. Mostly selling the same thing but the fruit is absolutely delicious. Will be back for sure! Also vendors are friendly.

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
Lovely people that work here. Always clean and inviting. They have done such a good job

Tutti S.

Yelp
This is a fun place to walk around and purchase some very fresh and delish produce!

Chrysty C.

Yelp
Love this place! The parking is great & the vendors super nice. I stop in every few weeks for my fruits & vegetables. I can be in & out in 10 minutes or all afternoon.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Lots to look at here, a myriad of fresh veggies, plants, and herbs. Vendors are cash only, but there is an ATM inside near the restrooms. The is a small food truck and Underbelly burger bar during the day open for food, then Wild Oats opens at 5pm in the evening which is a bummer. You. Can purchase beer at underbelly and walk through the market with it if you like.

Verneshia F.

Yelp
If you like outdoor markets, then this is for you. Love this place so much to offer. From household items to fruits and candy plus hot foods OMG!!! Next time, I'll bring more money.

Rant Or Rave T.

Yelp
The biggest improvement this market could make would be to sell certified organic produce.

Brenda G.

Yelp
I'm glad they still kept the feel of the vendors I had coming to this market when I was younger. Although many still take cash some of the vendors take card now! The addition of new stores and restaurants is awesome because I like to come walk around on the weekends here!

Stephanie Q.

Yelp
I loved it. They had so many fruits and spices. From craboo to broccolini. I forgot my wallet so I have to go back tomorrow. One place I stopped at took cash app so got peach cobbler in a Jay a peach cider. So good. Not too sweet like this stuff you get at the store. I came home and made a peach rum martini... and it was beautiful day.

Laura S.

Yelp
So glad we came to eat at Crawfish Noodle! The farmers market is a must see walk thru after the meal! Had our 2 year old GD with us - she loved it! Taught her lots fruits veggies and spices!

Ernesha B.

Yelp
I was very excited to go to this farmers market but was disappointed that all the vendors sold the exact same thing. All of them had papayas, lemons, avocados, mangoes, passion fruit, grapes, and a few other vegetables/fruits. The majority of them also only accept cash. The nice part about the venue is the food options on the outside of the farmers market.
