SM: “Canmore is the perfect getaway spot for the weekend. It's a beautiful place at the start of the Rocky Mountains surrounded by forest, little streams and nature. Perfect for hiking, skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, et cetera. It has a really quaint downtown to walk through or stay overnight in.”

Yelp
Located just downstream of Banff; Canmore is a more affordable option for tourists who don't want to pay the Banff premium. There's a grocery store in the form of Safeway in the area, which is great. There is also a fairly low key / sad town center area which pales in comparison to Banff; 10% of the visitors and not much to do. Canmore isn't cheap either; for a week long Air BnB, the daily costs were still $300-400 CAD for something fairly basic. There's also limited nature options in the area that you can explore for "free", most of the hikes require an additional paid pass for visitors outside of the town. The parking situation for any hikes in the immediate Canmore area requires another pass in addition to the Canada National Parks pass; this is a pain for non-locals. We pretty much drove to Banff daily for activities and just came back to Canmore to sleep.

Yelp
I can't be the first one to say it: I like the Town of Canmore better than the Disney-ish town in the Banff National Park, just 1/2 hour away to the west. I found the Town of Canmore more friendly, far less stuffy, more organic, less expensive, more fun and open to adventure than is the overcrowded neighbor to the west. Just saying. Five stars.

Yelp
What a beautiful beautiful town, a lot of people think that it's better than Banff and I can see their point of view because not as touristy plus it's impossible to actually buy property in Banff but Canmore is reachable. Check out the amazing movie called mystery Alaska it was filmed here and it shows the town and its beauty. My favourite mountain on the planet is there, it's called Rundle, and another one of my favourite hikes is called HaLing, a very distinctive mountain and easily recognized.......

Yelp
Not a truck / RV friendly place. The town has turned over the former areas where an RV or truck could park, to parking for cyclists and smaller vehicles. We were going to stop and get supplies and shop before going further into the mountains. There was no where to park our truck and trailer. The congestion was not easy to navigate. The cyclists seemed to own the streets. Heaven help you if you have to cross the railway tracks. Not just one train but 2 trains to make it frustrating to get out of this town. We left and found parking in Banff, where we got supplies, ate, and shopped. I won't be stopping in Canmore in future.

Yelp
Nice town, quaint yet bustling, very artistic and inspiring vibe. A good place to walk around and shop, there are lots of interesting shops to visit. Solo7 Muzic

Yelp
A small town in between of Calgary,AB and Banff,AB. Canmore is spectacular in it's beauty! With the three sisters visible most of the time, there is plenty to do here, everything from Hockey, to Curling and skiing among other things. There are plenty of local shops here to do some shopping, or having your meal at one of the restaurants here. We love coming to this little town in Alberta.

Yelp
I have really enjoyed my time in Canmore, it's a great town, with amazing people and views. It's a awesome town, with lots of work, lots to eat and lots to do, I strongly recommend stopping here to anyone.
