Yelp
Awesome choice for Philly! There are few cons, so I will get to them first and get them out of the way:
CONS
- The HVAC has a mind of its own. Whatever you set the fan to, high or low, it will stop at a certain point and cycle back to the other choice. When it's on high, both vents (the one closer to the door and the one in the bedroom itself) rattle in irregular, odd ways, reminding you that the space is beautifully renovated, but some signs of it being an old building remain.
- The shower is very slippery. I am not the most athletic person, but I rarely have a problem keeping my balance in the shower. This made me a bit more nervous.
- The water pressure is poor, even with different settings to use.
- A bit more room to maneuver in the actual guest room would be nice
- The TV was very high def but kept lagging
PROS
- LOCATION! You are right in the center of everything, a block and a half from the famous City Hall building, and not too far from the Old City with Independence Hall and numerous other sights! It is very centrally located, and there are so many restaurants and bars nearby.
- Speaking of location, I like that this is just off of a busy street (lots to do close by) while being on its own smaller side street (less trafficked, quieter). You have the best of both worlds.
- Everyone working here is friendly and happy to help.
- It smells good in the lobby! Yes, I know that sounds weird, but it's the little things!
- Legit water/ice machine on the floor as you get off the elevator
- Gorgeous art deco inspired design throughout - flawless, elevated aesthetic everywhere, aside from a few odd looking paintings that seemed like creepy forms of street art in execution
- Very comfy beds! Most hotel beds are firm, too firm for me, but these were very plush indeed.
- The hotel feels luxurious without being pretentious or snooty, a wonderful balance they strike with ease
- Federal Donuts onsite with coffee options, breakfast sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, and of course donuts
- Free, extensive, large book about tourist attractions
