Our stay at the hotel started off well--our first night was very pleasant. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, just what we had hoped for. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn on the second night when we were abruptly awakened at 2 a.m. by the persistent chirping of the fire alarm.
We called the front desk for assistance and were told we could either attempt to remove the battery ourselves or wait for maintenance. Removing the battery would have required us to stand on furniture, which we didn't feel was safe or appropriate. Eventually, a maintenance worker arrived, but by then, our night had been significantly disrupted and we were unable to get proper rest.
When checking out, I asked to speak with a manager, but no one was available. I did receive a missed call later that afternoon, but no voicemail was left. When I called back, I was transferred several times before finally speaking with the manager. I was told there was nothing they could do in terms of discounting our disrupted night, but that a follow-up email would be sent. It has now been two days, and I have yet to receive any further communication from the assistant manager.
While I understand that issues can arise, the true test of hospitality is how a hotel handles them. In this case, the lack of urgency, poor communication, and overall indifference left a lasting impression. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not choose to stay here again.
